2nd. Annual DG Christmas Workshop "Victorian Santa" Pt.4

Victoria Harbour, ON

soooo laughing, remember hearing Joel Olsteen (Minister that I love listening to) talk about his mother..said she went out on a date and had to slap him 3 or 4 times, Joel asked her if he got fresh, she said NO, she did it because she thought he was 'dead' lol

Glenview, IL

OMG, that is so funny, well maybe not but i am still laughing!

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's what happens Judy when you get old and have to date 'old' men...now if only we could find a 50 year old..that's young right?

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

ROTFL! Thanks for the laugh, Betty!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, your so funny!
Hope your day is going well, and not too boring. Do yo have your santa faces painted yet?

OMG I'm just so excited, went to that material shop you know the one that says he's been in business for 51 years and he's retiring BUT only once he sells his inventory, wanted 20 yards and he had a new roll that had 27.5 on it said he'd give me a good deal and 5 of blue and 5 of green ..imagine...all for $268.55 - didn't charge me tax...so although it's a little more than I needed today, I will have enough to make the Mrs. Santa dress which I have the nicest white fur left from Caleb's costume for the trim and of course I was ahead of the game and purchased Mrs. Santa's wig when I was in Frankenmuth a few weeks ago...ooops phone

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, you are so good at finding the deals. Nice job!
Can't wait to see your Mrs clause outfit, with you in it!!!
LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

can you imagine, someone just called and disturbed my eating chicken souvlaki/rice/greek salad! hmmm

We were on a rush errand..I did the material shop, Suzanne had to go to Canadian Tire so she picked up the 'wet saw' for cutting ceramic tile, need to do the washroom lol - picked up lunch from cafeteria downstairs, under new management, food and prices great...so now it's time to unwind...see what happens when you give me an aft. eve. and night to sleep...I'm soooo energized...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

ROFL!!! Slimey men!!!
I came here for lessons and I got belly laughs!!!

Yep Audrey, a walking foot will make sewing difficult fabrics easy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

don't you find you come across them from time to time, sleezy men Jaye??? they are out there...trouble is it's only the sleezy men that seem to hit on me..or nearly, the others are the ones you just know want a wife to wait on them hand and foot..nope, I'M spoiling ME....

wow 4:45 homeward bound...gethome 6:30 and teach at class at 7:00...oh wooohhh is me..I'm already tired...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Betty, the last time I was accosted by a 'sleezy' man was at a dance 25 years ago.
Mind you I had my ex sitting next to me when this Joe walked across the room and asked me for a dance.
His jaw dropped and ex and company started laughing when I replied I don't accept dances from men who don't zip up their pants!!
God's truth.. his pants were unzipped at that time. That man's face turned Christmas red, he zipped it up, and walked out of the dance hall. Waitress was just bringing him his drink!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, that is so funny! LOL I can just here him cuss himself, when he got outside!!!
LK

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm with you, Betty! My Sweetie spoils me, but I spoil him, too! NOT mandetory!

Victoria Harbour, ON

So funny Jaye, thought you were going to tell us you 'married him' lol...kidding of course..

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You know Betty, somehow I seem to send signals to the bald ones...
my ex was one, and now Kel :D
Lolol!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I've a yard of nice white fur, could always send you a piece for Kel...ooops better not or he surely won't let you play with me anymore...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

ROFL!!!!
Oh boy, Betty, a lady with many hats!!!!
I'm leaving my beloved bald head Kel snoring in his recliner again, tonight.. while I'm gonna enjoy some zzzzzzsss.
Nite everyone!

Victoria Harbour, ON

night/night

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Late again! Good night every one...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Everyone sleep well?
Betty, we are all just sitting here, waiting for our packages to arrive, so we can start assembling them.
LK

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, do you think I'll be able to make another body for a second Santa?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Audrey, you should have enough material, I t hink you just need to go out and buy some batting, or maybe some pillow stuffing. It looks easy enough to make the forms, and some of the stuff, you could probably buy pre cut. Just find a good craft store, or maybe even the lumber yard. You just need a circle and a dowel.
I hope I got that right?
Where are you Betty? We need direction here please?
LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got here...morning...I'm sure anyone can make the body armature...I did...yes you will certainly be able to... Hoping you all get your packages today..Judy got hers..didn't hear from anyone else...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Still waiting down here. So how much snow is there?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Snow all gone and although cold today it's sunshine...waiting is half the fun...

Glenview, IL

Good Morning...

Be calm all, Betty has included Batting in the kits!!

,,,LOL, waiting patiently for you to get your kits,
Very exciting...working on bag and another piece so
keeping occupied. with this project.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hey Judy, not everyone got batting, yours did because you had so many kits and I needed a box..most envelopes just wouldn't accommodate the batting and if I changed to boxes rather than the $7.20 postage it would have been quite a bit more..let's hope everyone either has the batting or has access to pieces ...

Glenview, IL

Oh, Pardon Me...

So sorry.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's ok sweetie...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

LK, I already have batting AND stuffing! So I'm all set! I can get a dowel at W*M, and I bet I can find a round somewhere!

Victoria Harbour, ON

NOW I THINK OF IT...stupid me, here I'm cutting out all of these circles, routering them to make them more user friendly, read your post and it came to me...you could just go to any $$$$ store and purchase a round wooden trivet, am sure they have them and drill a hole to accommodate your dowel...

WOW, now I'm on the lookout because I had to make about another 25...

Thank you/thank you...

Sometimes you have to get stupid to get smart!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Whoo Hoo! got my box last night! haven't had time to crack it open yet but will veeeeery soon. Thank you, Betty!

Betty, can you not get inexpensive wooden circles at Hobby Shops or Wal-Mart craft department? Our Michaels and Hobby Lobby has them along with the dowels, too.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Hmmmm, what about a terra cotta saucer turned upside down and a dowl through the drain hole already in the center?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wouldn't do the terra cotta cut a wood trivet either at Michaels or Hobby Lobby or Dollar store would definately work..now why I didn't think of it I don't know..

Victoria Harbour, ON

ooops you'll have to let me know if yours got there in one piece...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I'm still waiting for my package but I think I might be the furtherest away. Slow snail mail!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No package her today. Maybe tomarrow?
LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I think we are even farther Marion!!!! Our mail hasn't come yet...so we will see!!

Audrey I know at our WalMart, Michaels and JoAnns they all have a section where they have the bird houses, wooden letters, and cut outs. They usually different sizes of rounds that we use for decoupage, as bases for our clay figures and all kind of things. They also have dowels in the same area. There should be something there that will work....I find a lot of stuff like that at Good Will....

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Everything made it intact, Betty. You packed it so well I wasn't sure I'd ever get into the box! The Santa faces are precious. Love that twinkle in their eyes.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Just dawned on me - was there supposed to be a wooden base and a dowel? Do I need to get that myself? Can do, no problem. Need to go back and read the items we are to buy ourselves.
