Can't you just wait to get all your Christmas decorations out Linda Kay..bit different for us as we've had our Thanksgiving, yours is yet to come so you can't really decorate Christmas before Thanksgiving...but it won't be long before mine is out..

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm here too. Cutting out material..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Are you having fun sewing Jaye??? lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I can't wait to start decorating. I wait till the week-end after Thanksgiving, and start decorating then. They stay up till the week-end after Christmas or new years. Hubby gets mad, because every year I get new colors for the tree. I don't like to have the same colors every year. One year silver and blue, the next year maybe gold and purple??? I haven't decided on this years colors, maybe a bit of all colors this year?

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I've been hunting fat quarters! Found some, but I got some more if I can find them! I'll only have to but a few!

I may start decorating before Thanks giving! I love the holidays!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Just a few minutes before I have be off and , running again. DH has a meeting and I need to finish up his desk so we can get his office together.

We find most of our small accessory type things like we will need for the Santas in the Christmas Decoration section.....

It is amazing how you can start with the same thing and turn out so many different versions. In our card making club we would choose a rubber stamp that everyone had as the subject for our trade......it was fascinating to see what different members came up with.....

If his meeting runs late I will pop back in while I wait as it won't take long to stain the desk top.

ugggg....sump pump and back up sump pump well guess they just didn't work..bad enough I had less than 3 hrs. sleep last night, worked in the city, travelled to see sister in hospital tonight, got home late and walked into flooded basement...so much for early to bed...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

eewwww!! That does not sound like a good time.....hope there isn't too much damage and that the problems don't keep you up too late.

Hope your sis is doing better......we keep her in our prayers.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

I am so far behind, I will start cutting everything out today after I finished DGD costume mending and making the dogs costume. He's going as a piece of candy corn. He should be cute walking along with a fairy, a princess and 2 witches.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh post pictures, they sound like they are going to be reallllllyyy Cute!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Looking forward to seeing photo's as well...when we were in Frankenmuth a few weekends ago in the Water Walk (boutiques) there were maybe 20 to 30 dogs walking with their owners all dressed up in costumes...so adorable and brought such a smile to those walking buy...

Off to Betty byes...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I have the bodice and sleeves sewn. What do I do to the shawl?

Victoria Harbour, ON

The entire world must have known I was home early, had about 6 calls...lol

The hood/shawl..only thing you do to it is make a hem on all 4 sides , probably 1/4" to 1/2" wide..just so it doesn't unravel...

Just turned up the furnace...winds is howling, snow is a coming so going to get cozy in bed..

Talk later

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks! Sounds like you have a cozy evening ahead of you! Heat up the cogge, or the hot chocolate! Make some popcorn! Wrap up in a warm blankie! Have fun!
Audrey

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Don't let my DH see this but I would really really like snow! I love snow! Don't want to drive in snow.....just sit in front of the fire with a good cup of cocoa, some good music and watch it snow!!! He hates it! So please enjoy some for me...

Glenview, IL

Well now, I can wait for snow, lol. but you enjoy yours and we will enjoy coco with you!

So, I had the most awful day at the office took me 2 hours to come , so I jammed to some really cool music and Sewed my Bag,
LOL, decided I was loosing out on time to sew. Mide as well keep busy while jamming and inching along...
Finally, home and doing a Happy Dance...
So well worth it to find
MY Victorian Santa Kit has arrived!!!

Woohooo!!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh, I jealous! I just finished the frock! What are we supposed to do with the sleeves? I have the gather thread in the top, but I haven't hemmed it yet. My machine HATES this material! So I glued the shawl! Looks better, too! (My keyboard's tired, it keeps making typos!)
All you who are putting fur on it, where are you putting it? I thought about around the bottom, but I don't know!

Glenview, IL

Added fur trim to bottom of Dress, bottom of sleeves and all the way around the shawl.

I am glad the glue worked for you, I didn't care much for it, but that is just me.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

My material is stretchy, and my machine wouldn't even sew a straight line on it! the edge kept moving!

Glenview, IL

Audrey, sweetie..try stich Witchery!!

It's iron on!! place tape fold material and iron!! 1, 2, 3!! Cool stuff....lol, or I mean HOT!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I have some! But I don't know if this material could take the heat! The glue looks better than the sewn hem does!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Hope you all had a good nights sleep.
I hope we all get our kits soon, I can't wait to start working on this Santa.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, nice to see the kits are starting to arrive...I'm also doing a happy dance..

Doe41, does your machine have a walking foot?

Somewhere I think in this thread or the previous maybe 4 or 5 days ago I showed a photo of how to sew the sleeve...

Let me go find it...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I think so, but I don't know how to use it! Tell me, and what it looks like! Please! Aren't these used for quilting, too?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Audrey, the walking foot can be used with most all fabrics. It is a foot that you most likely have purchased separately as they are not standard with most machines.

Found the reference photo..

The sleeve on the left is INCORRECT in it's sewing, you must fold your sleeve so that it looks like that on the RIGHT....

Marion is correct...usually it's purchased after, great for silky or hard to sew (sliding) material ... think it's probably about a $15.00 - $20.00 attachment..worth the purchase if you sew a lot...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh my Betty, when did you last purchase a walking foot? LOL Nope I paid $89.00 4 years ago for the one I had with my old Bernina. Not cheap--of course, does depend on the brand of machine.

Victoria Harbour, ON

No, I got mine with my Janome embroidery machine....just looked on the internet to show her what they look like and it's now up to I think $39.99

It's the photo on top right of this link..the article that looks like a thin box...

http://sewingnusa.com/storemain.asp?cat=121&gcat=

Victoria Harbour, ON

If you scroll down there is one also for $29.99 you just have to know if your machine has a long shank or short shank...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good site to have!!! I bought mine from the Bernina dealer --might be the high cost!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had a dealer in Midland about 10 minutes from me who ENCOURAGED me to keep updating my Janome as they came in with new models...anyway, always got attachments at his cost...so probably why so cheap...I NEVER, NEVER went in on my own, omg, he'd come over and put his head close to me, say how nice I smelt, love my perfume (hello, no perfume) got discounts etc. so unless there were people in the store, I'd drive buy..so laughing...poor fellow, even though he was only 63 he had a massive heart attack and passed away this year...I'll miss his BARGOOOONS but not his attention..

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, the long sleeve is wrong? I'll have to rip mine out, I guess I misunderstood!

I used to have a walking foot with another machine, but not with this one! :( Can't afford one right now!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Don't blame you! I don't like slimey men!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes it is wrong....it folded width wise... slimmey - good word for it, although he was a wonderful person in itself, think he was looking for a girlfriend...asked me out for supper one day, I said I wasn't ready to go out, he got a little upset, said he wasn't asking me to marry him, just to go out for supper...lol...

If you kept the walking foot from your other machine perhaps it will work...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Same here Betty!! Actually, never have liked that type man!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Audrey, sew the short ends together. Not the long ones.
LK

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Got it all ripped out!
Tee hee hee, I went to dinner with an old man one night, he used the excuse of "looking at my pretty watch" to hold my hand! I let him take me home, and I avoided him from then on!
