Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep, they're all on the sun porch now. Don says that when he walks out there he can hear jungle sounds. LOL... Everything else outside will be fine without covers.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jungle sounds... LOL
I can just see the monkeys swinging, and the snakes slithering!!! Ok, no snakes. How about tropical birds perched in the trees?
LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep, he hears all those sounds... of course, it's all in his head... cause I don't actually see them tropical critters... he just claims to hear them...
Maybe I need to worry.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

morning, birds all fared well in the frost lost night. So did I woke up in a hot sweat at about 2 am and have been up ever since. Gonna be for a long day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Those night sweats are so bad! Sometimes I think we need to bedrooms, HIS/HERS. So he can have his heater, and I can have my air. We are never the same temp, when I am cold he is hot and visa versa!
LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Don and I have the battle of the thermostat going on all the time.
He's so cold natured, and I'm always wanting more air.
But, I don't have night sweats anymore... whew...

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Bagels and herbal tea here.

Stacey, my favorite hot, alcoholic, drink is hands down hot toddies.

Linda, I was thinking the same thing, it’s not quite 7 am here and I’m almost caught up. If people don’t start talking what am I going to do until 9am?

On Cedric – How I am going to decide where he goes is by figuring out where people are and making a logical travel plan. I think this will be cool. I have mad dreams of making up a little video of his travel plan like the Indiana Jones maps, but I think that’s beyond my skill. The travel times should be shorter, cheaper, and possibly some of you might be able to hand deliver him if you wanted.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Laura, just send him to the first person on the list, that was first to sign up, then they can send him to the next person. That is how lingernot was done. First signed up, first recieved!
LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a mad dream of hand delivering Cedric to Jim in France... but I think that beyond my financial level too. So, what ever you think, Laura... it's fine with me...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Laura... you don't have Deborah (Cordeledawg) on your list above... I think she said something before I did.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

BJ, you can just borrow some of hubbies airline miles, and fly over real quick. It will only take you a few days??? LOL
But once you see France, you may change your mind and stay awhile!!! And if you do, you better bring me some cherries!!! ^_^
LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lolol!!!!!
My keyboard has white specks from the milk I spit out seeing this picture of Eleanor Burns pole dancing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nooo Niece Number One!!! Lolol!!!!! Stripping fabric, my dear :D
Renting a yacht will be awesome!! Make sure you have plenty of life jackets or buoys. I can't swim!

Good morning sistahs and Niece Number Two!
Thanks for the coffee LK.. it's milk for me this morning.. whole fat milk. One of those things when sometimes I crave for something rich. This house sees a gallon of milk once a year. Kel doesn't like milk, and I need to get into the habit of buying liquid calcium for my bones.

Is Don humming "It's a Jungle Out There"? BJ, all he needs is one of those safari hats and he'll complement your greenery decor! Ooo la la!!
Yeah go to France, BJ. If you can make your way to the Provence region.. you have a place to stay in Nice.

Laura, our postal system is erratic. A letter from here will take 4 days to reach neighbouring SC, but only 2 to Ga. But whatever you want to do is fine. As long as I get to see the great Cedric and chummy Bailey.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL

humming....
In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight!!!

LK

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Linda, I think that would be somewhat unfair as a couple people got in before I posted it publicly; I also think that it’ll be cool to actually plan it out like a trip you would take.

BJ, that’s why people need to dmail me. I’m going to send Cedric to Jim, since it’ll be the most expensive shipping; I too wish I could hand deliver him. As mom said, too bad I can’t fit in a priority mail flat rate box. I can’t find Cordeledawg request.

Cordeledawg, do you want in on Travels with Cedric and Bailey; if so dmail me?

Jaye, I get a craving to drink milk maybe once every 6mo., though it’s fat free for me. Too much milk makes me sick, but the less fat the more I can drink before I get sick. I do use it for cooking though.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning All,

Thought I'd better check in....BJ received fabric scraps yesterday...I'm making a coat out of that pink/purple shaggie piece whatever it's called. Will be doing lots of sewing over the next few days, Tia's reindeer, Secret Santa and Barbie clothes. Thanks Tons

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Just between me and Don, we drink about a gal of milk a week... we do love that stuff... only every once in a while I have to pour some out that went out of date.

Ok, Laura... map Cedric's travel itinerary like a vacation sightseeing vacation route. That would be a fun thing to keep up with.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning Cindy. How's the weather there.
It's brrrrr cold here, and I think my plants in the makeshift gh are warmer than me.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

It's cold, foggy and dark here. Google says it's 43, but it sure doesn't feel like it.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

You're welcome Cindy... I thought that peice would make a cute Barbie coat. Also, that pink sparkley polyester fabric would make a cute evening gown... there's some lame' in there for something special too.
The rest of that fabric just needed a new home... hope you can use it for something.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Mornings are cool, but then by noon it's in the low 80's I guess we are suppose to get some rain Fri, Sat, & Sun. I need to finish getting the rest of my bulbs planted. My hands get to hurting so bad that I can only work out in the garden every 2nd or 3rd day of rest.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh you bet BJ, I've laid out each piece of fabric and putting each little pattern with 'em to see how they are going to look. Thanks again. I will post pix when I get them finished.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Good morning! Lazy morning for me. Coffee in bed, let dogs in to jump on the bed with me, then finally decided to get up.

Stacey, if you could only see some of the photos of Eleanor Burns in that book you would laugh even harder imagining her pole dancing! It's a 25th anniversary issue with lots of photos from her 'past' - including some very unflattering photos from the 70's and 80's. Something tells me she would try anything, though ........

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Do you use a drill to plant them? That's my garden helper. Makes it easy to plant about 200 last year.
I have 50 more in cold storage, and they are still looking good for planting this fall .
Take care of those hands Cindy.

Eleanor would fit right in this group, eh Debra?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oooo... Coffee in Bed... I need to try that sometime... wonder if I can get Don to bring that to me sometime. Hmmmm.

Yes, Cindy... Pics please...

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!
Laura, have a suggestion.
Sit down with a map and pinpoint out the partcipants
Then you make up a list of Cedrick and Bailey trip.
You, tell each participant who to send to(This works best)
and the list was figured out by Lizrainey and her DH, LOL very helpful.

We sent a Birthday card around the country(ies) for Betty's birthday
Started in January and finally to Betty, well after her birthday.

Enclosed is an example, We had 16 people and each of the color lines designated how the card went around.

Anyway, thought this might be a little helpful.

Judy, yep, that was my game plan. Nice map, though I do need to talk to some of my more computer talented friends as I would be tickled pink to pull off a “Indiana Jones” animated map.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Doing the 'stir the pot' dance here...
LK doing my favorite critter swap! A froggie angel.. come on sistahs.. I want some froggie angels!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yoohooo LK.. is it only for mixed seed nuts members??
Please say it's for anyone..
Look I'm promoting your swap link here. Can't you tell I'll do ANYTHING for ribbit.. ribbit.. ribbit.. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/917942/

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm having to play solitare, where is everyone? Wait and see, everyone will how up just as I'm going back to bed.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm here Laura... but I'm trying to get this rag quilt finished today for my son's birthday next week. I got Don shipped off to Home Depot to get some lumber so I can actually concentrate on what I'm doing.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm here too.. eating!!
So is Don building you a cold frame, BJ?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i'm here, but going out to eat worms!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

eeewwwwwww

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Nope... he's getting the lumber to build another section of the underpinning on the back of the house...
He said the red neck cold frame I made will work just fine... as long as I keep it out of site next spring, he can stand to look at it for a while.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Well, I just got the kids off, DH takes off early for work (10:30, he normally works evenings), and I decided I was going to take the day to sleep until my body decides to get up, or I have to go and get the kids. I haven't slept enough the last couple days. Sage had a three day weekend, I had newbookitis one night, didn’t get my nap yesterday, and last night I just didn’t get enough sleep to get up at 6am.

BJ, good luck on the quilt.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Jaye, I have a Mantis tiller, best $300 I ever spent. I till my ground up really well then just make holes here and there drop bulbs in with a marker, cover, done!!!!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Cindy, aren't those little Mantis tillers great? I can't handle a big tiller with my neck problems but can use the Mantis. And they're just so darn cute!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I want to get one, we have one that is huge and I can not start it let alone run it. I am hoping to get one in mid november. I dont know yet.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Jaye, did you say once that you use a Husqvarna sewing machine? If so, do you have the embroidery machine? While at the quilt shop yesterday I asked them to demo both the sewing machine and the newest Topaz 30 sewing/embroidery machine. OMG! Of course I fell in love with it and can imagine all the quilting, home deorating, and crafting that could be done - not to mention sewing for future grandchildren.

Here's the really amazing part - never really thought DH would approve that kind of purchase but he didn't bat an eye! I told him that's what I wanted for my combo birthday/Christmas gifts. He went to the website and thought it was pretty cool. Agreed immediately. I think I'm still in shock. The sales person said they usually have a sale after Thanksgiving so I told DH that would be the time to purchase it. They've only had their floor sample for 2 weeks because it's a brand new product and it's hard to believe they would put it on sale but we will see.

Marion, do you know anything about it? I know you've had experience with different types of machines. BJ, how about you? Or any other sistahs?

If anyone has advice on making that decision, I'd love to hear it. I'm seriously considering buying this machine from this dealer. They are local, a high end quilt shop with employees who are very knowlegable, offer unlimited lessons on the use of the machine for as long as I need it, phone assistance 6 days a week, an onsite technician if needed, and lots more benefits of buying from them.

I may also ask advice on the quilting/sewing forum to see if anyone has experience with the machine.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Debra... I do have a sewing/embroidery machine, but mine is a Singer Quatum XL 5000. Don surprised me with it a couple years ago for my b'day. I do love it, but I've heard that Husqvarnas are just better machines... I've seen them demonstrated too, and I'm quite empressed...
Maybe Jaye can give more insight. Or Marion.
