OOOHHH Karen.. I looked at that brug.. man .. you lucky duck you!! WTG... you know I'll be beating the door down for a cutting when she grows big and strong..lol.. I think she is sooo neat!! well you might be trying to go to sleep, but I bet it'll be awhile before you zzzzz's!!...LOL
wow Debra.. sounds like you made out like a bandit!! WTG!! I know you had a good day, and you deserved it after staying the night with Pauline!!

Nite all you sleepy early birds!! Sweet dreams!!

My son called from TN, and told me his good friend committed suicide Friday, and they didn't find him till this evening! Was soo sad.. he was still in love with his GF and shot himself in her barn right beside her house. They thought he had walked off somewhere, and had been looking for him, but never dreamed he was in the barn. Please pray for all involved!!

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

I know it early yet for most of you, but I am up and at 'em, so putting on a pot of coffee. it almost ready and any other early birds can help themselves to it. Sorry, no fancy flavors here this morning. Whoever gets up later can start a fresh pot.

Hope everybody had a good night and has an even better day!

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Good morning,

Ella thanks for making the coffee, I'll have a cup if it is still hot.

Beck that is awful, sending prayers to TN for all involved.

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Good Mornin' All
Tried to post this morning on how good the coffee was and how it's like food if someone else makes it..It always tastes better....LOL
but my ISP was acting really bad...after and hour and a half I gave up and went back to zzzzz's

It took me like 3 and a half hours just to read all the stuff since Friday...LOL
No fun being MIA...

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Morning Phyllis

Glad you found us on 31, I read your post on 30 and it sound like you had a busy weekend. Good luck with the cuttings, they do sound like Christmas cactus to me but I don’t know one from the other.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Beck, sorry to hear such terrible news. Prayers are being said for peace.

(dana)Owensboro, KY(Zone 6a)

Good morning Everyone, moving s l o w today.. Becky, how awful.. prayers to your and his families, so sad, (((Becky))).. . I didn't get caught up here, yet.. may not, hope I didn't miss too much, ...all the plants came in yesterday, pics later.. Dana, I have a few wrinkled cuttings, but I can see roots through the cup (orchid moss).. got a pic of your wrinkles?... I mean your wrinkled cuttings? Your kids are too young for you to have earned any wrinkles....yet :) ..bbl resting today.

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

Beck, So Sorry about your sons friend. My Nephew lost a good friend the same way a few weeks ago. He went to his Grandparents house to shoot himself. You just hurt for these children and their friends. Prayers for your son and the family and friends involved.
Betty

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Good morning all! I slept in late today.....Becky I'm so sorry to hear about Timmy's friend. Bless his heart...Prayers are being said....

Dana it is normal for the cuttings to wrinkle up on the top end. One thing I have learned, is after a couple of weeks in the cup if your cutting has new leaf buds it is making roots. If it is slick, shriveled and has no new leaves it is usually a goner, rotted. Periodically I will very lightly tug on the cutting. If there is resistance, there are roots. If it slides out easily, no roots.

Heya Phyllis! Hope you had a wonderful time on your day off with hubby. My husband doesn't really like to get out much, he'd rather stay on the couch and watch tv or sleep on his day off.......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone, so sorry to hear of the bad news. Prayers going to TN for sure.

On the new cuttings, make sure you place them in water with a bit of peroxide, if you can't put them in a cup of soil. All the leaves will probably fall off, so I just take mine off. Keep the water changed every day or so. Some wrinkling will be normal at the top of the plant. They just go through a little shock period, but it should perk back up.

Hope everyone had a great week-end. It is nice and cool here this morning. Only 61 right now. I hope I see my blooms before frost hits here!!!

Karen, I love that brug you got. How many brugs do you have now?
Later

edited for spelling errors. Guess I need more coffee?

Morning all you Hotties and Handsomes!! TY for the well wishes!! The young mans GF had walked out by that barn calling his name, but TG hadn't went inside! He used a shotgun! By Sunday they started a search for him, and whatever reason they started in the barn. TG again!! It was the police that found him !I was so glad my son and the young mans GF didn't find him! That would be a haunting memory the rest of their lives He was 35 with a 9 year old daughter!

Karen.. I am still on cloud nine that you won that brug!! BTW.. I have a cutting I grabbed at the RU that was already Y'd..lol It's putting on leaves, but not really signs of roots in the water. Think I'll go ahead and pot her up
Ella... man you were up early!! Almost as early as when I went to bed..lol
Kimbob.. is it getting cold there??..lol.. I know it's starting
Dana... it's not always normal for the tops to shrivel, but it does happen more often if the cutting is from the tip of the branch and more pliable. Even though it is shriveling, it can still make it though
Betty... yes it's a sad day when our young people think that is the way, and end their life!
Bonnie..got a pic of your wrinkles??..lol... you are sharp for so early in the morning..lol
Linda Kay.. how's your puppy?? don't remember if you've said?
Ty wolfie!!
Phyllis... nah.. we didn't talk that much did we??..lol... glad you enjoyed your together time.. well I guess you enjoyed it..lol

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Look at you go.. sounds like you are a pro, Dana.. stations at intervals and for season changes.. I think you are fine with that cutting... look at these.. I'm watching them, they are producing roots, I'll watch for a new growth tip coming up beside the drying-out cuttings.. going for more rest..

LOL, that is GREAT B! I had a giggle with Becky last night over how we Brug lovers, wanting to get everything just right, worry so much about every little instruction we hear....When the Orchid moss was first talked about, many were convinced you had to have the same RED cups the original poster used, so they rushed to get red cups ^_^ Just goes to show you how much we DG'rs love our Bruggies!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOVE, is putting it mildly! I think we are in love and addicted to the darn things. And don't anyone tell me any different. LOL
I can't wait for my buds to bloom. I am just as excited as finding out the color as well as seeing blooms.
HAPPY DANCE!!!!!
I now have a total of 12 brugs growing, and I just got 10 more cuttings. Oh what is one to do with so many plants. Even after I told myself, no more...
Guess I will just have to get more pots, and tell hubby to move stuff around next year!!!

How are you all doing today?
Time for me to get dressed, and make it look like I have been doing something today.

Oops, just found out it's getting down to 33 here tonight....and 77 later in the week. I have nothing better to do so I think I'll wrap my babies in bubble wrap tonight, take it off and then replace when the cold weather is a little more consistant......Crazy, ain't it? Like LK said, there is nothing we won't do for our other "children", LOL!

Heber Springs, AR

Pictures of pictures! LOL Yesterday I glanced out the window at my sad spindly Mountain magic that I am sure won't have the energy to survive the winter and what do you know.. is that a bud I see on that plant.. ? Went outside later to take closer look.. looked under the few small leaves remaining on the plant and I found 5 buds... I am shocked.. that plant definitely has the will to live... I am going to repot it today in new soil and give it every chance possible... spindly or not if it is putting out new buds again.. it is surly a sruvivor ...simply amazing. bought a 3 cu ft bag of potting soil yesterday and more of the orchid moss yesterday.. just need cuttings to try it with.

(Cathy), MO

I can't find that orchid moss anywhere here!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I can't find it here either. Is anyone willing to go shopping for us???
Wolfie, beautiful big blooms you have there. What do they smell like?

Is this what your all talking about, and is this a good price?

Linda Kay

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Linda Kay that is exactly what most of us are using, same size and brand. However, I think I've been paying about $3.95 for a block of it.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I brought my brugs in yesterday, and my big bud has turned peach color! In just a few hours! All of a sudden it was a deep peach! It's still not open fully yet, maybe tomorrpw!

Picabo, love the puppies! They're beautiful!

(Cathy), MO

Linda Kay, if I can get to a Lowes in the near future, I'll get you some too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thank you so much cat. Let me know and I will get payment out for you.

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey, haven't "read" ya'll in a while, but wanted to mention, Pam is doing a brug cutting co op and has some really good ones if ya'll might want to check them out. Only a few left and she just posted it yesterday. Anyway, here's a link if ya'll want to go. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/917291/

I have some brugs in pots and since I'm in 8A, should I bring them in?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Lorraine, they don't like freezing temps, so watch your temperature. I have to bring all of mine in. But am making cuttings just in case.
But Karen is wrapping hers in bubble wrap.
make sure you post pictures of them in bubble warp please. We need to kow how you do it!
LK

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Karen.. yeah.. I think I have worried mine to death!!... course I have to keep reminding myself I really haven't had my plants that long.. that PATIENCE word of Bonnies keep popping up in my head..lol I still don't know the definition of THAT word!!
wolf... nice brugs, and i know they bring back wonderful memories of a much busier time!
Bonnie... you resting up?? what happened to that j-o-b....
Linda Kay.. you can't find the moss at your Lowe's... or Home Depot??
cat.. good to see you!!
Betty.. I have decided to be a nice ... mature... woman..LOL... and NOT post on the other threads! See.. me and Clemmie, and Phyllis pulled a prank one night and posted on ALL the old Hottie threads.. welll some of the Hotties sure has a shock when they woke up!!..lol... Since I am the "moderator"... I have to maintain an image here... one that requires respect.. one that shows how mature I am... rotf!! heck.. I ain't none of that..lol... but I have to tell you your lil babies are sooo cute!! Please post their pic over here!!
Audey......YAY! Show us another pic!! I knew they would turn... isn't that neat how they do that??

Fixing to go out.. I have been "goddesssing this morning.. kinda chilly here, and lyle said it would get down to 36 tonight... hmmm... guess i'll be putting my plants in that shed they boys and Lyle built this morning after all!! We have to put on the tin, and it will be finished.. cept we'll have to wrap plastic all around it!.. OR... think the plants will be ok at 36?? It won't stay that temp long IF it gets down there. Anyway.. I need to repot some pf mu brugs. They keep falling over, and they are drying out quick... so I figure they are root bound... TTYL!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have checked and no orchid moss here. Wish they had some. Guess our little town is at the end of the distribution run, and we get what we get. I don't know how many times, I ask someone are you going to get this, and they always say, it is on the next truck for delievery, and it never gets here!
