woo hoo!!! Lingernot will be an Honorary Cox Communications Gnome Technician for a day!!

I just got off the phone with Todd and told him he CANNOT put Lingernot in harms way and he laughed...the same laugh he gives me when he tells me about some horrible winds during the day while he was 65+ feet off the ground (hangingingonto a ladder attached to telephone lines...obviously I don't see the humor in being that high in such high winds!!LOL!! But he assured me Lingernot will not be that high off the ground, only telephone POLES no telephone lines allowed.... at least we can all hope not right?? hee hee

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Way to go Lingernot!!! Tante Jaye, you got the hiccups or have you found the Baileys?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lissa please tell Todd, we have a b s o l u t e confidence in him.

(Ssshh... stole Audrey's Bailey's Marion. I need it..)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh, but I thought it was at Kathy's. Not I am really confused.

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

awww shucks *blushing* I will definitely tell him, he will be happy to hear it :o)

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Is it too late to join in on this? This looks fun! ...and besides, we like company!! ;^)

And since I saw a puppy pic, I'm going to shamelessly post a pic of our new little girl, Nola. She's a jack russell about 14 weeks old, pictured here with her brother, Sconi (our retired racing greyhound, just turned 8 yrs). Her other brother, Jimmy, (our 2 year old jack russell) was beside me making sure I was operating the camera correctly. Don't get jack russells - they're know-it-all's!! Scary part is, they're always right. LOL! (just kidding, I love JRT's - and they are way too smart - smarter than any dog should be!)

No one asked but I guess he can go since Melissa is such a nice lady.

Okay, soooooorrrrryyyyy I've made you guys wait so long! Things have been a bit crazy here but Lingernot will be flying out tomorrow to Beahive's place in Oregon. I was hoping that I would be able to take him to Puget Sound during his trip, but, alas, there was simply no time with work, etc. We did, however, do a little work for one of the campaigns yesterday just for fun and to give him the opportunity to see democracy at work. (Although my gnome clan is sort of democratic, the elders really have the final say in all decisions, so this was a little new to them, too. I hope this doesn't cause problems in the long run.) Lingernot was really excited to be a part of making history in this country. I wanted to take him to get his photo taken with a bunch of McCain supporters who've been waving signs at a local intersection lately, but they were gone. We were both really disappointed.

Our last stop was to pick up Andrew, my son, from school. Lingernot was so enchanted by this niche with the statue of the Blessed Virgin that I had to stop and let him see it. This overlooks Tacoma from the highest point in the city. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Ranier in the distance and it is quite majestic. Unfortunately, there was too much cloud cover (as usual) to see the mountain on this day, but he used his imagination. Andrew attends Bellarmine Preparatory School, as Jesuit prep highschool in Tacoma.

Thanks for such a nice visit with Lingernot! My clan is sorry to see him go, but Bea is waiting patiently for her visit, so he flies out tomorrow, snug in his little traveling box. Beahive, my daughter, Claire, works at the Nordstrom in Salem as a personal shopper. If you are ever at Nordstrom, stop in and say hello! She knows I have several gardening buddies down in the Willamette valley.

Thanks Pixydish for showing Lingernot so many wonderful things while he visited you. I liked the last one with the Blessed Virgin, a small stone grotto for my statue was something I wanted to make, maybe now I'll have an idea how to go about it. Can't wait to hear more of his adventures, you lucky little guy.

San Francisco Bay Ar, CA(Zone 9b)

Pixydish, it definitely looks like Lingernot had a lot of fun up there with you and your family!

Carter, your pups are adorable! That is such a cute pic. I think the cut-off number on participants was 25, but that was quite awhile ago, and there have been a lot of twists and turns along the way. Hopefully someone can clarify this for you, but if nothing else, you are more than welcome to hang around and see what adventures await Lingernot next ;-).

Eugene, OR

Thanks Pixydish, for being such a wonderful tour guide for our little fella. On to the next adventure!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

O' so much fun to watch his adventures, looks like he is having fun.
Can't wait to see what Bea has planed for him.
And I think going up a Telli pole, would be fun. look how far your can see. Just keep him safe, with all the harness and safty gear. LOL
Have fun Lingernot Xs And Os

Melissa, Looking forward to Lingernots visit. Looks like he had a great time at your home. I hope we can find things to do as the forecast is predicting rain all next week. :( Does Nordstrom have personal shopping service for Gnomes? He may need a rain coat and boots!
As one myself, I know they carry petite sizes but not sure if they carry size "itty-bity".

By the way, my real middle name is Claire..so I must meet your daughter one of these days.

What were my parents thinking?..Beahive Claire!! LOL! Let you all know when he arrives in Silverton. Yeah!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

On the road again--well it is good to know Lingernot is traveling and being well taken care of. Looking forward to more pictures and great adventures.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

My Gneaux'm clan and I thank you Pixy for being a great hostess!
Bon voyage, Lingernot.

He is winging his way to Silverton even as we speak! He got out of here in the nick of time. We have torrential rain and flood warnings already, so he's lucky to have missed this part of the PNW experience. I hope Silverton is not under the same deluge.
I've dmailed Beahive his confirmation number and I wouldn't be surprised if he got there tomorrow even, since she is just down the highway a few hours.

Here's one I didn't post for your amusement while we're waiting for his arrival at Beahive's house. This is my own Blessed Virgin in my forested area. Lingernot is discussing with the resident gnome how to get up on top of the statue to clean it off. Samigal, I think every Blessed Virgin needs a grotto!

That looks like a very intense conversation they're having ;-)

Here he is with Stuart, one of the smallest gnomes in the garden. He minds the hosta bed, with help when he needs it. (Psst.... this is one of the gnomes I got at La Target for less than 2$. I don't like to say this within Stuart's hearing. He doesn't know he came that cheap.)

Beahive, I'm sure Claire could set up a gnome just as easily as she could a person. She is quite the gal when it comes to putting clothes together. She didn't get it from me, I assure you. Must come from my dh's side of the family. How cool that your middle name is Claire!! Looking at your full name, you must be of French descent?

To be sure, Sunnyg! They are wondering if it would be irreverent to simply climb up the statue using hooks and lines. I advised against such an adventure.
Here is Lingernot with one of the gnome children from the clan.

I've so enjoyed following Lingernot's happy visits with Pegi and you Pixy.
When it's time to start a new room, I had asked Mama Beth to do so and also to take over the thread.

Pixy...thanks for saving some pics for 'travel time' The adventure just keeps going and going and going.....

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Pixy,
Je suis de descente française. Mes parents sont venus aux Etats-Unis dans le 1900' tôt ; s. Ils étaient à San Francisco pendant le tremblement de la terre 1906.

Thanks goodness for babelfish translator... :)

Translation: I am from french descent. My grandparents came to the United States in the early 1900's. They were in San Francisco during the 1906 earthquake.

Hey, believe it or not, I understood that! Not that I could have brought it up from my own brain, but reading it, I could get the gist of what you were saying. I was hoping that you could really speak French, though. Claire spent a semester in Paris and came home almost fluent in French, with a certification in Business French. I've always hoped she would go back there to live for awhile and she needs someone to practice speaking with! She has always maintained that she felt more at home in France than she does here in her own country. She absolutely loved it there.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

I have been to Paris only once during my college years. 30th reunion coming up to tell ya how long it has been!! (started college when I was 5)LOL!! Hope to go again..Paris..not college..if there is any $$ left after I get my two daughters through college. Took a year of french in HS. My Dad was fluent..still could not pick it up so moved on to Spanish.
My grandma in her later years reverted back to mostly speaking french. I sat many a day shaking my head in agreement with her, but had no idea what she was talking about!! She is the Grandma from which I received my love of gardening. Her gardens were fantastic! Wish she was still here to pass on her secrets!

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

I just want to tell everyone that this will be my last week as a full member on Dave's Garden. My year is up and I've decided to not continue with the paid version. So I won't beable to check this forum anymore. So if anyone finds anything out about poor Staynot Gladomer please shoot me a dmail. I've had fun over the last year and look forward to talking to people I've met here in the future.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Bye for now shadowpage. All the best to you and yours. See you in the funny papers ^_^

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you so much for organizing this David.
I hope you'd return soon. For now, I wish you good luck on you and yours lives' journey.

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Sorry to hear that David. My subscription is up this month too, and I don't know if I'll be able to afford to renew. The entertainment "budget" is pretty much non-existant right now. Darn this economy!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Like the others I would like to thank you for starting this little travel. Will miss your comments every now and then and let's all hope Staynot will resurface again soon.

Best wishes.

Best to you , David. I hope you return sometime soon.

Eugene, OR

Thank you for organizing this fun adventure David. Best of luck to you.

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

{{{David}}} Thank you for starting the gnome travels of Staynot, and I hope he is found soon and returned to his Dad :o) We'll miss you!!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Sorry to see you go. Thank you for this fun adventure. Poor Staynot hasn't been found yet?

When I started a traveling gnome a couple of years ago, I lost one and he never came back. :( I don't get it. These are not expensive gnomes so it's really hard to believe anyone would just keep them, but go figure.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Out of curiosity I check on the last know name to have received Staynot--no longer a member!! So why keep a little gnome? That is beyond me!!! Be safe Lingernot!! I did enjoy having you here even if the timing wasn't the best!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

All I can figure is the cost of shipping has gone up so much that they are putting their name on the list before thinking that it is going to cost over $10 to ship even a small one like Lingernot. Staynot was of the larger clans and would have been more costly to ship. Maybe the anticipated cost of postage should be given up front so if that could be playing a part in them missing...?
Pixy...if you remember when you sent out Henk, he went missing just before he was to visit me! That happened this time too with Staynot!! I was next on the list both times. I don't think I will participate in another gnome travel, it is too stressful!! LOL!

Wow Shiela! That is so wierd! I did not remember that. Talk about bad luck of the draw.
I don't think it's going to cost that much to send Lingernot, though. I just paid less than 5$ to send him priority mail to Beahive. True, she's on this side of the country, but it's not that much difference even had I sent him to Maine. I don't think it's the money issue, personally. I just think they don't want to take the trouble. I even got a dmail from the person who has Henk about a year after he went missing. She was asking for my address so she could send him back. I emailed her my address and then never heard another thing from her. Needless to say, no Henk.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Lingernot came in a large priority mail square shaped box with lots of bubblewrap and I sent him off in the same one and it was over $10, not sure exactly. Maybe the box needs to be different??
