Hey now-that ain't fare-BJ-no coersing her into a baby blanket when there is $$ on the line!!
I think that Deb should play a little first-what if she messes up-better on a purse for her than a blanket for the baby-she needs something to try the machine on and a purse will be much easier-plus she deserves something for herself:)
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞ 42
Now you know Stacey, Deborah doesn't think of doing something for herself first!! I'll say she'll do something for the house! No bets.. cause I know deep down, it will be for the baby first. ^_^
I was wanting to make purses for Christmas pressies. ^_^
I know, but I wasn't thinking a rag quilt for a baby and it isn't fair that BJ gets my $10 by coersing Deb!!LOL
BJ-you know you are getting that in pennies and not in rolls right;)LOL
Be selfish for 1 day-even if it isn't a rag bag, you deserve something for you....even a pair of undies!!
We won't know if the baby is a girl or boy until sometime in December. My DDIL wants to know so she can decorate the nursery. It would be nice to have a matching baby rag quilt made my me the new nanny (that's what my boys call my mama so I want to be called that too. Mama wanted them to call her nana but they chose nanny.
Hey... Deb... you will end up making several quilts for that baby... so just make the first one how ever you want it... then you can make it another one to match the decor...
I"M being totally fair, Stacey... I've got $10 riding on this too... and let me tell you.. the baby quilt will be so much easier because you won't have to make those tricky side seams... or handles... or use innerfacing...
Yep... the quilt will be easier.
LOL, you two are a riot!!
...hmmm, I think Debra should make a festive wall covering! That way she gets in good practice and then you two get to keep 10 bucks...hehehe.
The hearths on those log cabin blocks are green and white polka dots. I'm thinking of binding the whole thing with green and white stripes or just a narrow black binding.
O...M...G
Jaye... that's beautiful... such tiny squares to piece together... sheesh.. how do you match up all those little tiny corners to match so well... no wonder you're going blind... sistah, I sit here humbled by your diligence.
Oh wow, Jaye! I love your colors and that small green dotted material up against the larger floral print is so pretty together.
Ok, folks my machine will applique too!! Even comes with a double needle so I can use two different colors of top thread if I wanted to. Yippee, Hey there Judy! I'll call you BJ went your box comes> I'm so excited!!!!
I'm so glad your excited... I'm excited for you... kinda like waiting for Christmas morning to open gifts... huh?
A rag bag is so much smaller though and can even be a diaper bag-OOOO-a diaper bag-how cute would that be!!!! And you don't have to worry about colors-it has to go with the mom, not the baby;)
Come on... I never win anything... Deborah even took the dirty oven award away from me... then Kathy took it from her...
Wahhhh....
BUT, I agree... a rag diaper bag would be really cute.
This is actually an easy quilt to put together BJ. They are all machine pieced. Strip pieces, same width but different lengths. I do a quilt-as-you-go method. Cut out your backing and your battings first. Make them 1" bigger than your projected block.
Place your hearth first, then sew your logs all around it, and stop 1" before the edge of your backing. Then when you're through sewing the number of blocks you need for your quilt, join the blocks to form a quilt, flip them over and join the backing with slip stitches. Cut out excess batting to reduce bulk at seams
You don't have to mess with it, trying to quilt under the machine.
I have this to finish too, another log cabin variation. Just not happy with how this turn out. But this is not a quilt as you go method. It's the traditional way. This is for Sophy, my cancer survivor gf. Think I'll start another one for her.

So, why aren't you happy with it? It looks awfully nice from here. Love the yellow and blue together.
The stars are too phat and I want it to twinkle more!!!
It won't be wasted, I'll finish it..
Think I'll do a purple and gold for Sophy :D
You're right BJ, I tend to be too critical of myself.

Wowwee Jaye,
They are awsom!
Most artists are too critical of themselves. And you, my dear sistah, are a quilt artist... you do beautiful work.
Thank you my sistahs!!
^_^ got new courage to continue with Emerson's pattern. Unless it's black or white pieces, I tend to use gray thread to join all my pieces, so I wouldn't be stuck on only one quilt.
Trisha's still stuck in the revolving door!! This is what she posted # 41
"Part of it is we have spin class on Tues, and Thurs and a long road ride on Sunday...so on Mon, Wed, Friday I am so tired and sore I just cant get those machines to work up to the level I should be able to do...besides my knees and lower back don't like any of the above...I am losing a little weight...Dh quit drinking, for which I am very thankful, so I no longer have several a week along with him...miss my weekly Baileys but if it keeps him off it is worth it...also we are not eating out as often which helps. If I am cooking at home we do pretty well with the diet as long as I can stay away from the sourdough bread...that is my big downfall!!!!!
Haven't talked to Laura very much the last few days...we did some grocery shopping yesterday...she has been going through and organizing pictures (over 4000) to see what she has for the photo contest...
We are hoping on the car...they had replaced the starter...less than 24 hours and it wasn't running...they replaced the alternator...started to an appointment on Monday morning, all the lights were coming on, windshield wipers slowing down...HMMMM...took them to their appointment then went out and bought them a new battery!!!!!! Don't know if that is the final cure or not but so far the car is still running...I am hoping the battery does the trick...the car is a 96 and has never had a new battery...we will see!!"

Hang in there Trisha, I need to lose at least 30 pounds. Not easy with all these meds that's giving me unwanted side effects.
Show us the pics you'll like to enter Laura. We'll do a vote on which is the best..
BJ, you won the bet! My check will on the way Tomarrow.
Jaye those quilts are so pretty, How long does it take you to make one? Wow, My bak would be so sore to make something like that. I like making the rag purses, so easy, and quick. Just don't have the patience either to math all the little corners!
LK
Don't know where she is right now but I think this is where her pictures are....

I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting for Deborah's postman to make his daily delivery to her house.
Hi All!! Just a quick check-in, but wanted to tell you all I'll be expanding my education on Friday. I'm going to my first OPera. It's Turandot. Anyone seen it or know what I should expect?
Well... aren't you coming up in the world??? How exciting... I've never been to an opera. So, no, I don't know what you should expect.
But, have fun, girlfriend.
BJ, car is working at the moment, but it isn’t looking like it’ll hold out.
Mom, I know it’s over 10,000, those are just from the UK pictures, I’m just not sure how many other pictures I have, but there are a lot of them.
Jaye, I have the pictures I’m choosing from up on Picasa http://picasaweb.google.com/Zhinu53 I’d appreciate any opinions anyone has on what I should enter.
I will sit with you BJ..........it is so exciting......DH cannot believe this group and the friendships formed here......told him "yep, they're a special group".......
Nope, never been to an Opera........have enough trouble with English..!!! Been to plays, some theater stuff...No Opera!
I've always been so impressed by the community on here, but the core group on SI and mixed seed nuts is another level above that.
if the car is not working right, we need to have Nisqually run a diagnostic and tell us what the problem is........doesn't mean they have to do the work.....
and I need the phone info.....
Laura, the ones from UK, I like that solitary man up on the cliff.. okay gonna check the others.. brb
Nope, don't speak Italian, but I cry when I watch operas :((
I think I remember someone saying once that you really don't have to understand what they're saying in an opera... but you will understand what's going on anyway... since I've never been to one, I can't vouch for that.
MY DH is also in awe at how we all jive here on SI... such a sisterhood we've established in such a short time. Too bad we don't live closer so we can really get together... but then, we would really never get anything done.
That cat pic... you need to use that Laura. I love it.
If we do live closer, we get Judy to clean our homes and Sis Kathy to do our preserves, and Phyllis to make our giant EEs stepping stones...
Hi all a shameless post here

I have a question. If someone was to purchase a sub for another person would there be a message sent to that person.
I'm off to WM. Gonna get more batting and that fleece stuff you're talking about BJ. Didn't have a need for gloves today, but will when I start on lasagna beds.
Catch y'all later sistahs!
I don't know Tia Tina... never done that before.
Ok, earlier today some of us were talking about doing a "fat quarter" swap. Just between us sistah's here on SI... if you're interested, d mail me.
Yes BJ, I get little enough done as it is!!!!!
Oh my.....a swap.....got to check the date and time to see how it will work....Saturday is one of those days for me....especially the last one of the month....I have to deliver grandchild home (hmm a swap) pick up another child and deliver to Laura (just a little swap), pick up flowers for Church arrangement (can't do another swap right now), Pick up and return DH for Lunch (oohhhh, maybe......), do flower arrangement for church (but how will I squeeze in the swap)...............LAURA HEEEELLLLLPPPP!!!!
