A pretty day outside, and I should be out there in a bit cutting down the brugs. BJ, I'm heeding your advice to wear gloves when working in the garden. Thanks Sis. You didn't do absolutely nothing yesterday-- what's that embroidery work? That takes some skills!!

Tina-Tia, chin up sistah. Concentrate on yourself now, you have to let anything that brings you down and out of your control, go. Pray..pray..pray..and release everything to Him. Let Him do the work.

Tina from Myrtle Beach, I went to bed last night with a smile. These sistahs here are geographically soooooooooooo far away from me and there you are!!! Are you from North MB of South MB. Don't matter... you're only an hour away!! Anyone that loves gnomes is great enough to be our sistah!

Happy Birthday Kim and Donna!!

Deborah sets that happy tone right!! She's so overwhelmed by the love that she wants you both to start your b'days early. Hugggss dear sistah!

AnjL, report in will ya, and tell us you're doing better.

Phyllis, I hope you're yourself today. We need our baker back!

Haven't seen Bon around. Am worried about her, please pray that she's not into anything serious.

Morning Commander Jordan :D I had fun yesterday keeping up with the P/L postings!! We need current pictures of Baby Jaye and Baby Cindy and Baby Cookie too!!

Have a safe trip Marion. The hammock's down but the old patched, overstuffed sofa in the middle of the room will still be here when you return.

Well niece, thanks for that warning. I didn't go to Kim's site. Not into scary stuffs.. it's bad enough real life can be scary!!

Kim, so glad to see you posting more often!

Audrey please try to get another bottle of Bailey's for LK. Poor pup, I bet he'd stay away from a porcupine when he sees one next time!!

Debra, soon you'd be the queen of stash!!! So, what's your next project? I have a double lap quilt on one machine, and starting on Emerson's next. Changed my mind on a monochromatic quilt for her. I CAN'T do ALL pink!!! I'll go blind!!

A beautiful day today, and a beautiful group of sistahs to talk to! Now, what can be better than this!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Janice, if you won't mind a lap quilt black and white, maybe we could do an exchange here. I'm willing to do a couple 12" blocks.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Safe travels, Marion, and have a great time.

Jaye, there is a growing list of 'next projects'!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's encouraging news Debra. We won't allow you to get stagnant!! Skills take practice!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Hope you all had a good nights sleep!

Wow, you all have been busy, and we have a new Sistah gnome Tina! Welcome to the insane world of the Sistah's!!! Please tell us a bit about yourself, your family... And we like pictures too...

BJ and Stacey, I will take you up on the bet also for the rag purse!!!

BJ, I know for a fact that you did more than embroider Don'r logo on his shirts, you have the honor of being Chief Food Taster to the Queen Mother!

Guess I need to go and pop in on some of the other threads.

Fresh coffee, and Monkey bread for all... Help your self.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning sistahs... I had a rough night last night. Felt pretty good when I went to bed... then about 4:30am, the "mystery" pain woke me up and I got sick as a dog, and finally threw up at 5:30, then immediately felt fine... got back to sleep around 6:30, and just now waking up. that's twice this month that's happened in the middle of the night... last time was when LK was here, the night before the RU... so, calling the doctor today... I can't keep living like this.

Jaye, the trick is to add padding in the palm of the gloves... just the glove itself doesn't protect your tendons and knuckles enough.
No skill involved in the kind of embroidery I did yesterday... the machine did it for me... I just pointed the machine to the design I wanted it to stitch out, and it did all the work.

Be safe Marion, and have a great time with all those "Old" folks... you'll be the youngest heart there.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

we have 8 baby chicks! al have survived the nite. cindy and baby jaye will be leaving the nest son and going to a new home.
i am trying to find a home for penny and donnie.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks LK. Been a long time since I had Monkey Bread. Now, will I be jumping up and down after I eat this? :0)

I'll pad the gloves with quilt batting, BJ. Hate to read you got that sick last night! I do hope the doctor can solve your mystery pain. Shall be praying for you BJ.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Awwww... hope Baby Jaye won't be a family's supper, Sis!
Congrats Chickie Mama!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I have an idea for a swap, Jaye. Instead of swapping quilt blocks... why don't we swap fabrics. We each go buy some1/2 yard lengths of 100% cotton quilt fabric. Cut our 1/2 yard down the middle (fold), and send it to our buddy... we can do like 10 pieces each. We keep some, send our buddy some... then we can all make our own quilt blocks with what ever pattern we choose, and have a bigger variety of prints in our quilts.

Yep, LK.. I did taste a lot of food for the Queen Mother yesterday... now I need to go back to pacing to loose those calories.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's a good one BJ. I'm game!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LK, you made monkey bread? Oh man the first time I tried it I was hooked then my mom tasted it and she was hooked. In June my mom went to my cousins in Ore. made some monkey bread they got hooked. My cousin was making 2 a day.

Request for persimons..........if any of you have persimons, my cousin wants to get her hands on as many as possiable. LMK, please.......................................

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

no, baby jaye and cindy will be pets. bj, i have another mission coming up in a few days

Glenview, IL

Waving hello Jaye and All!!
...Thank you for remembering I lurk around.

My gosh, What a lovely suprise for Deborah...
Made me smile big.

Debra, was so nice to see you had such a wonderful time with your firends. and all the crafting.

Marion, I hope you will have a grand time at your reuinion!!

Welcome Gnome Tina, you'll love the sistahs, LOL if you could keep up with em.

...Well, still on a cleaning frenzy, and last night was on a cooking frenzy, well DH was and I am the chefs helper, lol...opened cans, stired this and that made some lunches, visited and tasted, watched simmer, and yikes almost forgot the chicken in the stove! But, that was it took that at oand finally went to bed...So we will eat well, and then I will have a ton of time for crafts!!
Good thing, not much to do at the job front cuz, now i am pooped.

Well, better find something to do here, maybe someone needs help.

See you all later,
Have a wondeful day...

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

BJ, glad you are seeing a doctor. That definitely doesn't sound 'right'. Thanks for the info on padding gloves. Had not thought of that before. I had a much less severe injury a few years back but similar in a way. My wedding band used to be very wide and was difficult to get off when my hands would swell. Ended up damaging a tenden (or nerve?) in my ring finger from pulling so hard. Had to go to therapy, etc. which was a pain - literally! They used electrical stimulus and set it too high and it burned blisters on my finger! Was not happy about that! LOL! Did you damage the tendons from pulling on them? What causes that? twisting or carrying heavy things? It sounds painful.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

It was very painful, and my hands ached all the time. But worse was my fingers locking in place when I made a fist. It was caused from gripping the shovel, rake, wheel barrow, anything that rubbed up against the inside of the knuckles above the palm of your hand for long periods of time.

I'm afraid quilt batting isn't enough padding... go buy about 1/4 yard of that faux lambs wool stuff they have at Walmart... it's not that expensive... and cut some squares of it to fit the palm of your gloves, and use spray adhesive to hold them in place... you'll need to replace them from time to time when they get sweaty...

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Hope you feel better BJ

That sounds like a good idea. I am in.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks for the coffee Kathy, filled my travel mug and grabbed a chunk of monkey bread while there. Oh traveling will be fun!! Drinking Kathy's coffee and LK's monkey bread.

Great idea BBJ--I'm in the swap for sure with trading fabric. Hey Janice., B&W swap me too!

Really off now.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Hey Marion when do you leave?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Good Glory everyone (In Honor of Bon's Granny) Where is Bon! I too am getting worried about her. Who else have we been missing lately?

Linda K, what is monkey bread? That's a new food group for me. Not heard of that before or else I just can't remember it.

Sorry you've been sick BJ. I get up in the middle of the night too with my GERD problem. Acid reflex don't you know causes that and the medicine I have really isn't strong enough to keep the acid down.

Deborah, electrical stimulus on your finger? Ouch! That sounds worse than the pulled tendion.

Back to reading MY NEW SEWING MACHINE MANUAL> Giggle giggle!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

So LK-what is your bet-BJ bets that the first Deb project is a blanket for the new baby coming, I bet that Deb will do a rag bag 1st, what is your guess??

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Deborah, the doctor had me on several meds for acid reflux... and I still got the "mystery" pain while taking them... the throwing up is something new... I really don't get indegestion, or heartburn when it happens... just a lot of muscle spasms, pain, then complete tense muscles that go all around my body from my sternum to my back muscles... recently it's ended up with sudden throwing up, then all is well again...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Deborah... you better make a baby quilt first... I need to win this one.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Now Deborah, how many pages does that manual has? You'd need to give Kel a lesson on reading the manual first before operating any new toy!!! Lol!!
Supposed to go to WM tonight and I'll get that fleece stuff BJ. You might be pregnant BJ!!! Jokes aside, I pray the doctor can diagnose it right away.
Cindy, I only have 2 persimmons on my 1 year old tree. NOT sharing :D They're the Japanese kind that stay firm when ripe.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Monkey Bread is indivual little balls of dough rolled in melted butter and dipped in sugar and cinnamon then drop/layer each little ball into a bundt pan bake, cool, pull apart and eat. You can get it at WM already made, just stick in microwave for couple minutes very tasty, makes a great morning snack/breakfast

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Slap your mouth, Jaye... that's a horrible thought.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Mmfffffmmmmffffffff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol...sorry BJ :(

Debra, taking a cue from you, it's soup today! Got me a few "Bean Cuisine" soup packages. "Thick as Fog" split pea soup and it got more lentils than peas! Should call it lentil soup instead. The seasonings has some curry in it. That will be interesting... of course, I had to go a step further, instead of just plain water, I'll add diced tomatoes and stock.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Dh found a prego test outside the other day and hollered at me, is there something you need to tell me, I asked what is it, he told me then I hung my head and said........... yea I need to tell you NO way it is not mine. Must be the lady living in our 5th wheel.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I make monkey bread with canned biscuits... cut each in half, dip in melted butter.. roll in cinnamon sugar... and throw them in an ungreased tube or bundt pan... sometimes I sprinkle a little chopped pecans between layers ... bake till brown... even hot, they're good.. but still good cold.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Now I never shut this thread down on Kel. Might have to do so tonight.
BJ, he would want me to use that Monkey Bread trick after reading that!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Monkey bread
2 cans of cheap biscuits, cut into 1/4's
roll each piech in a bowl with 1/2 cup sugar, and 3 TBL's cinnamon
Place sugar coated pieces of biscuits into a well greased bundt pan

In small sauce pan, melt 1/2 cup of butter, (margarine will work) and 1 cup of brown sugar. Once sugar is dissolves and looks like syrup, pour over biscuits. Any kind of nuts can be added at this point also, if desired.
Bake in 350 oven, until nice and brown. I push mine to about 35 - 40 minutes. I like mine crispy!
BE CAREFUL. THIS IS REAL HOT.
Place a plate on top of the bundt pan, and quickly turn over. Some of the syrup will run, but that is ok, Just don't burn yourself!!!
And this is my recipe for Monkey bread.
It is called monkey bread, because once you see someone pulling off a piece, you have to do it also.

Monkey see, monkey do!!!

BJ, I do hope the Dr, can find your problem and treat it. I know you are miserable with these pains waking you in the middle of the night!

I like the idea of a fabric swap also. You better start a list for it.
I bet she makes a litle blanket aslo for her first grandchild!!! But she just may make herself a new ragpurse?

LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I think I'll make a big pot of vege beef soup with a pan of cornbread for dinner tonight. Don's home today, and we both love that. Gonna get down in the 40's this afternoon, so it will be a good cold weather dinner.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I cant decide between spaghetti ( i know mom got that over in europe) or a pot of beef stew. It is cold and rainy here so something of comfort and kinda lite, as they wont get home until after 9 pm. I just guess it depends on when i can get up to moms and start it.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I've never used biscuits, I either make my bread dough or use Bridgefords frozen loaves. I don't make it very often cuz picky Ricky doesn't like cinnamon ugh.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

With all this trail of soup cooking on our stoves.. it's bound to wake Laura and Trisha up now!!!
Cindy, we don't care too much for cinnamon either. Growing up, we use cinnamon only in curries. Once in a while I'll do a cinnie bun. But that MB recipe with nuts... now that could be done without cinnie.
Soup's ready!! Yummooo.. bbl!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Dang.. I posted on the wrong thread because I wasn't paying attention...
Here's my reply to Trisha from #41.

Down Hill is a bit counter productive, isn't it? Hmmm... wonder why you're not making an up hill progression... could it be all that good cooking you do all the time?

Where's Laura?... Did she get her car fixed?

Now, Deborah... the baby rag quilt will be easier than the rag purse for a first project... and you know you want to get started on making that baby something... it'll help you get all excited about the new addition to the family... like you really need to get more excited than you already are... LOL... btw... what time does your mail man come to your house?... you should be getting another box today.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Yep Me too. I'll go get it and copy over before we get a wet noodle whipping for Linda K and Jaye. HAHAHAH

I'm excited about the grandbaby and ok, a rag quilt will be my first project. Is there a such thing as baby blanket material?

My mail man comes 2:00ish to 3:00ish depends on if there's a sub. Another box yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Y'all are too much, my sistahs!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

We've really got to quit doing that... I did it again too...

Well, today's box of goodies is from just me... but there's an envie inside it that is from all of us... Wish I was a fly on the wall when you get it... I just know you're gonna scream.

Yes, there are baby blanket fabrics out there.. you'll just need to go to the fabric store and mill around a while to get inspired... sometimes I just stand and stare till an inspiration hits me... the clerks think I've gone nuts, but that's ok... I don't think I'm the only one that does that...
