(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Boy, I wish I had the room for more. Not now, maybe next spring. I have to make room in the shed for the plants I have. Would it be better to cut them down, and start over next year. I have some that are now 6 foot, and so bushy, just no blooms! They are all in pots.
This is my row of brugs. All 12 of them! the ones at the far end are at least 6 foot tall.

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Hi AuntB I just bought a 30lb bag of sweet potatoes for $6 wow what a buy but I forget how to bake them anyone know what temperature and how long I should bake them for?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Yummy I bake them at 350 til they are soft..I use a towel to press so I don't burn my fingers!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Yeah AuntB just 1 tee hee : )

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

James, there are several ways to bake them. I wrap them in foil, with a dab of butter. Depending on the size of them, I bake them at 350, for about an hour +/-. After about 30 - 40 minutes, take a hot pad, and give them gentle squeeze. If they are tender they are done. Season to taste, and enjoy.

Wow thanks so much I forgot how to bake them and how long now I can enjoy them they are so good.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Guess what I made today? tee hee! My world famous (family famous anyways..) Sweet potato pie. To die for....

3 cups hot mashed sweet potatoes
2 cups sugar
1 cup buttermilk
2 TBS. butter
1 t. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 unbaked deep dish pie shells

Mix all together in a large bowl and pour into pie shells. Bake a *350 for 1 hour or until firm when shaken gently.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen that sounds so good, but Thanksgiving is a month away!!! LOL
I have not made pies in such a ling time. I usually buy mine, but homemade is so much better. Mind if I steal the recipe? Hubby will love that one.
Ladies, have a great week-end.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Linda Kay did you try Walmart? They carry the Super Thrive in the garden dept. but may be out this time of year. They also carry tea tree oil in the pharmacy, with antiseptics or vitamins.

Lowe's carries the super thrive also and most all pharmacys have the TT oil

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Linda Kay if you think you need to wait until Thanksgiving to eat sweet tater pie, well, I don't know what to say, ROTF! My daughters start begging for it in early October, and we eat it all fall through Christmas. A little whip cream does it right too! My grandmammy lives to be in her 90's and ate a baked sweet potato every day of her life I guess...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I will look for the tree tea oil, but I have looked for the superthrive, and ask several time. It might be on the truck for the next delivery. Does the tree tea oil, come in a bottle, small/large??? So I know what to look for?
There are several nurseries in San Antonio, so I will go look there.

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Linda Kay I thought AuntB or Clem said somewhere on one of the other threads..that they use Viatimn B1 instead of Super Thrive
Not sure..we'll have to wait to see what they say...
Guess You don't want ME going back through them ALL...teeheehee

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Yummmmm I am going to make one of those pies on Sunday as tomorrow I will be going to the RU.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Phyllis that's what Super Thrive is, in essence liquid vitamin B1. Theoretically, you could buy vitamin B1 tablets I guess but I would have no guesstimate as to the ratio....

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Have fun at the RU James! And do try that pie, you will love it! Makes the house smell heavenly.

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh I will can not wait to try to make this one that is for sure I sure do have enough sweet potatoes to make many pies.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Yum sweet potatoes. I add them to soup and stir fries too. Just cut them thin and add last to keep the shape. Yummy sweet potatoes baked and then cut open with butter and cinnamon sugar!

I got a package today!!!!!! Hotties!!!! Whoever did that is so very sweet. Well heck you ALL are sweet but really, I got a Lemon tree in the mail today!!!! It is a buddha's hand lemon and it looks great! Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Hugs and smoochies! Here is my new baby! I am soooo excited about it!!

HI ALL!! I'm still 'here'---you all ain't got nothin'better to do?? GAB, GAB, GAB---LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

The 'only' thing that my brain retained was someone (B?) was asking about the bulbs for plants. Plant bulbs are more expensive --- BUY the bulb with the highest LUMENS. I remember that from about 10 yrs ago and that's all I use is the highest lumens (3200 lumens +/-).

Gotta go---time to go home and go camping!!! later, Jan

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

The Hotties are fairies too!! Karen Buddha's Hand is KQQL!!!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi to all the H and H’s

You have been busy, it took me a long time to read all and catch up. I’m already loving the DSL.

Kim that is a great jungle, what is the plant in the first pix, center of the top shelf in the orange pot.

Louise that Lemon tree is fantastic, so happy someone was so nice to send it to you.

Linda Kay, I’m pretty sure it is one tablet to a gallon of water on the vitamin B1. I’ll take a pix of the Tea tree oil and post as soon as my batteries are charged for the camera.

Beck, Peg and James have a great time at your RU’s

Karen, I’m coping the receipt for the pie it looks great, thanks for posting.

Anjl, so happy you are home and doing okay, sorry to hear about the pain try and sleep as much as you can.

Bonnie, I found the Unsulphured Molasses in the regular supermarket. The brand name is “Grandma’s” It say all natural and I have been using it in the receipt all summer. It is a 12 oz jar and not to pricy

Lu, glad to see you posting today, yes we were worried, we’re H & H's and that is what we do.

Dana, I know what you mean, I was beginning think I was the only plant addict in the world until I found DG.

Posting this now so there are not 100 post since I started typing. Hope I never get this far behind again.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)
