My other plants have homes hanging in the windows of the diningroom and Kitchen
and the DH gave me another window in the livingroom with a shelf all the way across it..
That's where the plumie babies are right now with a heating pad when it gets cold....

I think it depends on what you have..I was trying to start a lot of cuttings and the need the light to grow. established plant will do much better. now I have gingers and nanners and hibiscus and plummies a Jade Vine : ) and a bunch of other trops lol!!!! not to mention the giant EE's.....
thanks kim this is my first year with bringing any thing inside , and my first year gardening at that . so im nervous . there is a door on both sides of the laundry room with windows south facing and north facing .its an addition. i wish they made a sun room , i told dh to put a bay window in there . the sun lamp looks like its really sunny in there . its just tiny . i could take over the den ;} thats a big tee hee

I used to keep some ee's inside, no more though, too much to keep indoors and alive.
oh yah the bathroom .... but then id have to put a shop light in there lol . i can hear dh now who has a bay window in their laundry room it would be nice though . just tell him the plants are for adding oxygen to the air .. you wouldnt want him to pass out or anything lol

lil i think i read that they take a wile to open then the flower dosnt last that long but it keeps flowering , does that sound right idk , im not even sure what the whole plant looks like ive seen the huge ones and then pics of the individual flowers lol .

There is a jimson weed that grows wild in my area which is related to both brugmansia and datura. These are ancient plants, they have been around here for a long time, just did not look this good. There is a history in ancient times of them being used for mind-altering drugs. They are poisonous! Most animals leave them alone, but some people have not figured that out. Because of that, there was a push to outlaw them in Oklahoma. Also, morning glories, poppies, mushrooms, the list just goes on. The law did not pass, but it made me think,

Hellooooooooooooooo everyone. I am not done cleaning up after Ike. I fell and bruised my whittle knees. I really fell hard trying to clean up the yard. I will survive but the yard is going slow. I wish I had help but I guess my neighbors have went with the "ME" times. everyone thinks of self no DGers here. Oh well enough whining I will get into trouble eating all the cheese with my whine. ROTFLOL
Audrey hope your meds doing better. I take a lot and it is no fun when they are off. Mine are now some too. Not real bad but a little is too much.

I bought one of those oil filled heaters at Walmart last year to keep in my potting shed.. kept if toasty warm all winter 50 and the plants were really happy.. used one in the garage too.. have to laundry out there. Used to use one of the ceramic heaters out there and I FROZE.. those oil filled are radient and make it soooo much warmer. Love them.

I had am oil filled heater once they do keep things very warm. Well till Ike tore through I HAD a Hoop House 16' x 16'. Picture below. :o(
He smashed in the top on one side bending the cow panel. Not covered by insurance. Not sure I can find a place to winter my plants. I hung a light bulb that was inside one of those silver bowl looking things guys use in their shops/ I got it from Lowe's or Home Depot. It kept the dew out and the plants dry so they did not freeze.
Where will I put them this year. I can't fix this myself. Oh well Ike killed alot might as well get a lot more. Bah Humbug! I was going to run a drip system across the top wires to make it easier to water. I really shouldn't be amazed by squashed hopes. I learned in the last 2 years since DH passed away "Hope" is just another one of those 4 letter words.

I am still cleaning the yard from Ike. I was surprised my neighbors knowing I am disabled never offered to help. I did drive around and find wood cut small enough for me to pick up for the fireplace. I would love to find a lot more. It is so expensive and I can find a place to put it. Most people left it in huge pieces I could not pick up. And my chainsaw is electric so it doesn't help except at my house. Guess I could buy enough cords to go a couple miles. rotflol. There is enough trees down it will take a while for ppl to get them cut up.
I got magnolia tree seeds day before yesterday from a huge magnolia laying by the road. Nothing was safe being on the dirty side of him.
Well going to lay back down. I fell in the yard the other day and bruised my legs and arms. I hate to fall with my back the way it is. No one heard me scream. I was wobbly but made it inside and locked the doors and laid down. There is a nasty big bruise right above my left knee. bigger than a coffee cup. This to shall pass.
I am taking it very slow now. I still need to rake, pick up more branches that have fallen since yesterdays rain. Clean up the wood the workers coming around brought me, clean up cut up limbs that are mine, Trying to stand up my huge fruitless pomegranate but it was pushed over halfway and driven into the ground deeper in the front. I can't get it up. I started digging around it but it is hopeless I think without the help of a couple guys. It blooms beautiful. looks like the most beautiful orange carnation with tons more petals. I will try to remember to post a picture.
I have a big Christmas Sienna blown over that DH propped up after Rita and it lived.It is in full bloom laying on the ground. It is big and beautiful. But after I fell I have not tried to lift it up to see if I can. and I have to clean the street where the big machines did not get it all. And if it is not bad enough, the front of my house is on one street and the back on another. 2 streets to sweep. And get bids on the roof and I can't remember what else. Wow sounds like i did not do anything but I have.
OK time for more sleep. I haven't looked to see all I lost. I know a white crepe myrtle, an azalea or 2,not sure what is gone from under the trees. I had 5 small (not growing well for 2 years). I lost 3 of them, snapped off a plumeria, the top of a versi gold angel trumpet. and split a small purplish crepe myrtle down the middle. And a few hibiscus.not sure what else. But is looks like it claimed my yesterday, today. and tomorrow. Not taking another look till I am done. And that will be another 4 months I believe. Oh well keeps me busy. GRRRR
This will teach me to mot get on a list of something i have always wanted. And take brug cuttings and try again to root. Too late now. Serves me right :o)

Bonnie, sniffin your picture! How pretty! I just have some bulbs to pull and I am done except for cutting down the gardens as they frost. I want to dig all my sp vines and save the taters for spring. Thought it would be fun to try. I only have one blackie so that one I will keep an eye on. Lots of the margarita though. Maya is still bloomin away her flowers last a really long time! I think I have pods on the Bonny Pink X Maya. Some of the stems on the pods have curved way over. Does the calyx stay pretty green in the fertile ones? I have some that are yellowy and some that seem to be staying darker green. How to tell if you were successful in the early stages? Happy TGIF hotties!

OK - Way back someone asked about dats - I was told at the nursery that if they have metel in their name they are hardy here - zone 8a - I was also told that the only way to grow them is direct sow - that you cannot start them inside - has someone had success w/seeds inside? LMK - I have butterfly ginger and Australian canna in pot - still not very big - this is first yr - was going to bring them in along with brugs and mandevilla - Should I bring my euphorbia in - the one that is similar to baby's breath - I forget the other part of it's name -

I can't believe how big my bud on Mountain magic has gotten in just a few days - got to get a digital camera - that last time I got film deve3loped - it loved like all the pics were double exposed - don't know if it was the camera, film or developer - gonna try one more roll - take to a camera shop for developing - see what happens - I've always had really great pics with it - 3X zoom lens - don't really want to shell out money for a digital right now - had a good webcam too - Windows Vista - doesn't support - Drat!!

Morning everyone! Thanks for the continued prayers and well wishes about my Lily girl. Today is my favorite day, hubbies payday, yippee! Most is already accounted for in household bills but I do have to get a coupla things from the store. Wish I had Jeanne's phone number, we'd go out and eat Mexican for lunch!
