Wow a lot of DG b-days today, not here in the NE but notheless....

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Yeah. I noticed that, too. I hate to miss birthdays, but I know that I miss waaayyy too many!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oops!
I just saw that he's older than I thought. Time just flies!!!
^_^

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh, how I amuse myself!! *sigh*
That last message should have been posted on another thread, in reference to our new puppy. Forgive me, please.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Seems you don't really need us, Candyce!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I'll always need you guys and gals!! Whatever chaos my home life brings, I know I can straighten out my mind and feel like a real grown-up here at DG. Well, almost a real grown-up!

Had an interesting epi-pen episode with my youngest daughter this morning. She lives just across the street. Thankfully, I keep a spare in my purse so it's very handy. She's at the ER now, so I'm waiting to hear from her. She reacts to stress, along with nuts, berries, and most vegetables. I'm not too overly concerned, as this is a common occurrence for her. I've just never had to use the epi before, so it scared me to do it. If I recall, though, we did it together, as I was terrified of hurting her more.

I think I need a strong cup of tea and a nap now, LOL!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - hope she's okay! That's scary. Glad I never had to use mine yet.

I was joking about your previous three posts!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

That's OK, Victor. I knew you were joking. I just called the ER, and they are going to observe her for a few more hours and then I can pick her up. So, she's doing well, at least she's breathing now. It was scary, but I had a good person on the other end of the 911 line who talked me through everything. Thank GOD for 911!!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

One GD always has an epi pen available, cuz of peanut allergy. Haven't had to use it yet, but knowing it is there is comforting.
Hoping your DD does well, and that you had a chance to get a cuppa and a nap.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I got lots of coffee ... no nap ... and a replacement epi pen. Thanks for your concern, everyone. She's fine today. She's home (at her place) and resting.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Glad to hear Candyce.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Geez Candyce i'm glad she's OK! Sounds like you need a drink and a nap! lol

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

LOL!! I'm chuckling so hard, pixie!
Today was my 'decompress' day, I guess, as I've felt on edge all day. I may take you up on that drink. Grey Goose, anyone?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Did you find out what caused it?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I see the 'pregnant man' is pregnant again. You'd think he'd take precautions...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

hee hee he!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Victor,

No. The doctors couldn't pinpoint an exact cause, unfortunately.

About that 'pregnant man' thing. Ugh! But then, how many wives have said ... 'you'd think differently, dear, if you had to go through this!'

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Of course the "pregnant man" is not really a man, it just looks like one on the outside but she never went thru with all the operations and stopped taking male hormones so she could have a baby. So basically it's a woman that looks like a man having a baby, which I'm sure has happened many times before but what makes this so different is that the couple was on Oprah, so of course that just makes it the biggest news ever....gag

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I gag as well, Jen

They did it for $$$$$$$

Where did bigcityal go?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Still in WI. ^_^

Actually there are a few AWOL people. Nancy (nanegoat) and ngam among them.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Candyce, I'm glad all is well. Has your heart calmed down yet?

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Hiya,Dave! Great to see you posting again. You and your humor have been missed!

Yeah, my heart has finally calmed sown, and I'm back to what passes for 'normal' for me. Thanks for your concern. My DD is back to normal, too - whatever THAT might be for her!!
^_^

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Candyce,

My little sister (she was only 45 this year) is allergic in that awful, throat-closing fuzzy-mouth way to so many things - all raw, uncooked fruits and vegetables (how about a nice, cooked salad, or a BLT, hold the L and T?) and nuts, even cooked, but not peanuts because they're not nuts. I wish she'd carry an epi-pen like you sensible folks do. She lives in Europe and maybe that has something to do with it? Or she's the principal source of food in her house - shopping, cooking, etc. - so they don't miss what they've never had?

Anyway, congratulations on coming through your heart-stopping experience with such equanimity! Have another drink!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Carrie ~

We understand each other then. Ashleigh had a minor episode at the RU after ingesting a small slice of a nut. She hasn't had to use the epi in almost a year. Don't know what brought on this event last week. (But as her mom, I suspect it was nerves, as she has too much for her to handle going on in her life.) From what I understood from her doctor, overwhelming stress can bring it on too, almost like hyperventilating, but not.

Has everyone seen this crazy situation in Nebraska where people are abandoning their children - up to age 17? It's due to the omission of an age limit in the law they passed intended to provide a safe place to drop off newborns no questions asked. People have even driven there from other states to dump their kids! What a statement about today's society. I've heard the teenage years can be miserable, but sheesh! (Personally, I would at least try to eBay first...)

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Sandy

South China, ME(Zone 5a)
