Let's Talk Turkey

Or whatever - I missed the old water cooler thread for general questions, etc. Just no breaking the rules - I think that got an old water cooler thread pulled.
Now if I could only remember the question I wanted to ask on it earlier!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Debi, could you tell me where to go to find the rules? I certainly don't want to break any.
Don't you love it when you have to back track through the house to try and figure out what and why you wanted to do something? Did that make sense? Maybe I need to do some backtracking. sigh

Hey Jan, I do that all the time - embarassing when it happens at work. There is an acceptable use policy at the bottom of the page. We can talk about taxus, not taxes, etc.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Go Rays! Hee hee. (I am rooting for them, actually. What a story!)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How's this for gross?!

Duh - the link:

At least he could sit there and eat it on his time. Not like the ones that shove 45 hotdogs in thier mouths and swallow in 10 minutes!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

That is gross, must have been soggy after 4 hours.
I'm rooting for the Rays too, they've been awesome.

The kid who ate 15pounds of beef will have lower tract problems for days.Protine just doesn't digest as fast as other stuff.

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

I know the Rays have worked hard, and if they win, they deserve it. But, as a member of the nation, I have to add this- Go Sox ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Weren't the White Sox already eliminated?^_^

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Sorry, I only live 30 min from Phila. so I guess that makes me a PHILLIE PHAN. Actually, mom is the baseball fan and her team is the Mets.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm a Mets fan.

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Funny guy, Victor. ^_^

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Anyone watching the home run derby?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - and loving it!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Well, that really was an awesome game! Can't believe I stayed up for the end. Glad to extend the series.

I dont watch unless the Sox go into the world series. That was the game they were in last night and won.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I did not stay up and was shocked when I just heard they lost! Why did he take out the starter???

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

They thought they had it won?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

But he had only given up two hits! You have to seal the deal.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

We saw a lot of fans leave the game, wonder what they thought?!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Go Phils!!!!!!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I missed an amazing ending too. I lost interest at 5 nothing. Like Victor, I'm rooting for the Rays. Great team. Great story. Modest payroll.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

After that devastating loss, I think they have to win tonight or they will lose the series.

Feels like fall out there! Pretty day, but so far I'm stuck inside with chores.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great day - spent a few hours outside. Potted some tender stuff up - frost warning here tonight. Did some other cheanup as well.

Sad to hear of the passing of Levi Stubbs of the Four Tops. What a voice!

Planted some saffron crocus bulbs I bought and just in time - they were already sprouting. The saffron crocus from previous plantings are beginning to come up and I gave the first harvest to my Pakistani neighbors and a bag of corms so she could plant her own. I pulled down the Painted Lady Runner Beans and harvested the last of the pods. I ended up with about a quart and a half of beans. The vines were really pretty and looked good on the porch - I will probably grow them again next year.

There are still come small tomatoes getting ripe - but they aren't very tasty. The herbs are holding on - I take fresh herbs into work just before Thanksgiving for everyone if I have them. The cabbage are looking good except for the bug holes and the brussell sprouts are getting tiny sprouts. One of the trombicino zucchinis has turned into a huge brown winter squash looking thing. And I have a baby sugar pumpkin that came up by itself! I will have pumpkins soup this year after all!

There is a nice fennel bulb ready to pick and still lots of swiss chard - one of my favorite veggies ever! The eggplant are starting to set again - but I don't think they will beat the frost. All in all - it has been a good year.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I'm still pulling for the Rays (sorry Red Sox nation)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Me too, though I'm not feeling as confident now.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Exciting game. Sorry for you Sox fans, even though I was rooting for the Rays. You guys one twice in just the past few years. Amazing that the Rays never one more than 70 games before this year.

Dont watch it so - Oh Well.......... Going to get a cut and perm. Havent done it in over a year. Then a highlight. In the end I will have a head job for 120 bucks! DH says after the highlight I will be more light headed :-)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

lol, can't afford to do highlights right now, I found hair mascara that has the same effect.

South Hamilton, MA

The Rays certainly have excellent pitching. It will be easier on the teams to have the series in a single time zone, but tougher on baseball fans around the country.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

They usually schedule the games for the east coast anyway. All the important people live here!^_^

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

The Sox have nothing to be ashamed of. They made it a great series.

GO RAYS!!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I was away with no TV or radio for the weekend, had to hear the results each day when the train came in. I'm glad it was a fight to the end - more fun that way.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How was the caboose party?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Very, very cool! The nicest one we've done so far.I'll try to post pics in the next couple days.
