I can't believe the poultry forum beat us.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds like that could land you in some legal trouble...

Did you mean Esmeralda Seņorita ?

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Neighbors sure ain't as neighborly as they used to be ...... I would be afraid to get another.

Nana would play this (see photo) for us when we were kids.

Not only did she pass her skill of cooking, but playing piano, too. :-)

The Golden Song Book: 56 Favorite Songs and Singing Games.

This was published in 1945 by Golden Press Inc., in NY, and I recall she also used these songs as she taught kindergarten.

You think I wouldn't find you ??? ALL of you ChickenHeads get back Home where you belong...

The General

Greensboro, AL

Hey Gen Dusty: You are not going to break this up are you?

The poultry people out-posted the NE forum -- and now they have come over here to post because of the great calamity caused by loss of the NE's place on the poster roster.

I tell you its apt to cause some real psychological problems among the Northeasterners to be outdone by chickens!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Uh-oh, they've been busted!!!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

And we were having such a good time too!!!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

General Dusty, Ma'am. Not to point fingers, ma'am, but I do believe Lt. Major Harmony errrr...well...."borrowed" your copter. Ma'am. She did it for the chickens, Ma'am.

And BTW, when you say flight boot, is that the kind that you wear for jumping out of planes. And did you really do that, Ma'am?

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

I do and I did, and Lt Harmony is about to be in deeeeep Kim Chee if my chopper is not returned to base Immediately!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

does Kim Chee taste good with Moo Shoo?

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

The only thing Kim Chee tastes good with is Balut...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Did you really? That's so completely scary. That is about my greatest fear. I hate flying, with a passion, I tremble and shake the whole way. I have flown a LOT, especially for my last job, used to take about 30 flights a month. Hated it. And it got worse with every flight. Everybody always said it would get better. It doesn't. If it gets turbulent, I make squealy noises and start to cry. I am uncontrollably pathetic. So the thought of jumping out of a moving aircraft makes me want to pass out. I have the utmost admiration for anybody who can jump out of a plane. You are amazing.

Seeking out Lt. Mjr. Harmony, Ma'am.

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

In full flight gear necessary on my UH-1 Huey...Only jump off skids of Huey no more than 12 feet above ground with 60 pound Med pack on back...Unless of course you are over water... ;-P

I still fly both rotor and fixed wing aircraft, and jump from fixed wing to this day when I get the opportunity...That translates to when I can con some idiot to take me up and open a door... LOL

Is that you in the picture? It says Dust Off on the helicopter. Is that why they call you Dusty? Kewl....

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Yes, that is me surveying the damage to the patient in 1966 in Xuan Loc Vietnam...Notice BOOTS on feet??

Noooo, My Daddy named me Dusty when I was 2 yrs old...Couldn't keep me clean...'specially mah Britches..

A purely diplomatic mission. No reprimand necessary.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Kelly wants to know if that was 6th Air Cav. Whatever that is. I am a military dunce but he was in the first Gulf on tanks.

Very big scary boots.

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Tell Kelly Not me.. I was 101st Screamin Chickens, 1st Air Cav was with me as was the 3rd Mar Div...Kelly was ONTOS if he was Gulf Tank.. Is he a Jarhead??? My Eldest SIL is ONTOS Jar from the Gulf..

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Kelly says no, he was not a jarhead. He was regular army. 1st Cav. He is confused about ONTOS.

Kelly says the 101st Screamin' Chickens is "not one of the easier units to hang with....those boys are nuts" he said.

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Yeah and so were my Girls...My Army Nurses were the finest there ever were or will ever be...

Tell Kelly I'm Proud to cal him a member of MY Army!!
ONTOS was a tank Division in the Gulf...Something weird from Patton in WWII

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Kelly thinks the ONTOS was a marine corps thing. He was a tank driver on an M1A1 tank, he says. And he's proud that you were a member of his army too! LOL! Fortunately, he says, he never needed an army nurse. He says he tried not to stand in areas where he would get hit by bullets. He's such a smarty pants sometimes.

(Zone 7b)

Lovely conversation i would personaly like to thank both Dusty and Kelly for your service and say what bravery yall have shown in your service.

Thank you for putting your life on the line for our freedom.

Our service men and women are rarely thanked for their brave service of our country and i make it a point when i see one of our's in their uniform to go up and shake their hand and say thank you.

Greensboro, AL

Yes. I agree with the heartfelt debt of gratitude for all who serve. Even those who stand out of the way of the bullets - it is a sacrifice to be away in a foreign land. And those who do serve must wonder so often what does this have to do with anything?

It is only that we could not live in our free country without those who serve to keep it that way.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Man - this thread REALLY took off once the cool Poultry People joined in here. Now, why can't the rest of the world learn from us that we just need to jump in together to make good things happen! Very interesting photos, Laurel. Those are some hot chicks!! LOL

There's one thing we snowbirds can't have ...and that's chickens. They get so peavish about having to fly south with us!! LOL

I learned a few things here too....what a nice bonus!

Louise

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

This is way too much fun ^_^ I'm just sitting back and watching the chatter fly or hatch or whatever its doing ^_^ I hear ya DonnieBrook. We're off to AZ and NM this winter to look for a snowbird spot and I'm not sure how to do that with a chick-a-poo (sniff).

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Have fun with the search, Dahlianut! I hope you find just what suits you! I love both of our locations......AFTER I get to where I'm going! LOL

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I agree about thanking our military whenever you see them.

Yes, good luck with the search in the SW dahlianut.

KPO Jan reporting that there have been no cupcake mutinies lately. I am doing my best to keep them corralled. However, the pe-cahns don't want to stay on the cinnamon buns.

Greensboro, AL

Yeah those pecans do have a mind of their own. You just have to poke them in a little deeper if the surface is gooey.

There are some people here in Alabama that call them "puck - ans".

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Jan 23 I have to study up on the pe-cahn thing. I'm still a little confused about them. I always feel like throwing macadamias into the mix in that discussion and what about pistachios? Pinas/pine nuts are big with us in the Rockies ^_^ Is it all about pe-cahn pie? And if so what about keylime pie? Now that's a way cool pie IMHO.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I also understand that in some regions they are pronounced and spelled 'pee cans' but that could be a nut myth.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Mom loves pecan pie. I haven't been able to make it like the one place near where she used to live. But, she orders pecans for Christmas gifts and everybody uses them instead of walnuts, etc. I do like macadamias too, though. I'd say - throw away. Spice that thread up a little. lol Keylime pie is good too. Shoot, any kind of pie is good.
It HAS been fun having more people posting. Keeping us on our toes. lol. I do get confused sometimes. hee-hee. My brain can't function as fast, but hey, if they want a pilot that will let them jump. Then I'm their girl. Granted, I'd need a refresher. It is important to keep the take-off and landings balanced.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

YA THINK Jan 23! LMBO!!! Personally I'm PRETTY big into balanced take off and landings! This could be great. A DG pilot group. We could charter to RUs. Choppers would be cool although they are way too 'choppy' in the Rockies. Alot of people would erp. Float plane. I'm thinking float plane. Then we could just taxi up to any location without all the airport who ha.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

It would get pretty crowded since I'm only licensed for single-engine, single-wing. lol. that would be cool though. So there is only room for one maybe 2 people. I don't think I could even pay for lessons now. I can't imagine what they are plus the cost to rent a plane. YOWZA!! My MIL suggested I learn, since DH had his license and then I'd know what to do "just-in-case". That was back in the late 70's. A whole lot of fun!!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Cessna! I'm in. I spent many, many, many hours in single/twin in the Arctic.
