She's About To....# 24

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Morning hotties! DONNA!!! how ya doin lady? Hope lots better. I hardly sleep, been an insomniac for years! Once in a while i sleep for nine hours but that is rare. Iris..I have hashi's hypothyroid too. Mine completely quit and I almost died before a doc believed me something was wrong..they said the same thing..lose weight and you will be fine. But I hardly ate at all. Was in bed all the time. Finally when my heart enlarged and I had fluid on heart and lungs they took me seriously. They still did every rude test there was before they checked my thyroid! By that time they told me I had a heart virus and could get much worse!!! Been on meds for years.
hey Bonnie here is a pic of me all dolled up hair and makeup. Sniff, I miss my long hair. (just cut it off) My inlaws in the pic

Hi everyone,

AuntB, a little more clarification on the Bayer application. You used it already with no ill effects to the burgs?

You said "I use the Bayer for Roses 2 or 3 in one, which lasts 3 months, scratched and watered in.. this year I added Bayer Advanced 12-mo Tree & Shrub Insect Control to the regimen, (dosed them in July).. I'll reapply the 3 or 2 in one again during their winter retreat."

Question - you tried this on just one of the brugs or all of them? What rate did you use?

Thanks

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

WOW Louise, look at you you beautiful doll! What a pretty family too.....I can sympathize with the health problems...Lord be with us on those. I take 11 prescriptions daily for everything from Diabetes, manic depression, thyroid, blood pressure, you name it I take it. Here's praying the Good Lord blesses us with more good days than bad. I love your hair, don't cut it again!!! My hair is long now for the first time in years and I love it.

I found my scarecrow across the highway and he looks like he flew to Oz, then hell, then back, LOL! Guess for $6.88 I can just get a new one, huh? Donna I'm so glad to see you at least able to communicate with us hon. Just keep resting and let everyone take care of you as much as you can.

Deb that Jack o' lantern is great! You are so artistic in everything you do!!!

Good morning to every hottie, I love you all so much on this beautiful fall morning!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I had to cut it Karen, it is falling out! Not sure if it is related to my pregnancy last year, or thyroid, or the change in life! Doc says thyroid is fine so..oh well could not watch it falling out any more! So sorry about your health challenges karen, we hotties just keep a goin, right Donna!!
Well gotta go groom, talk to you hotties later!

Morning Hotties, peeking through from work and wishing everyone a great day!

Beckie hope your momma is doing well, miss ya girl, come back soon!

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Hi Hotties, been coordinating here, so I can leave work in a few, low 40's expected and the hibiscus and plumeria's and other tenders (not the Brugs) are coming in for winter... Winds up to 40 mph expected this afternoon, so sure hope the buds and blooms hang tight. I'll stop for cam batteries (bloom pics before the wind) as I've misplaced chargers for that and both AC/DC chargers for my cell phone... just had time to skim what I missed ALREADY this a.m. -
Louise, you ARE Mrs Universe in that pic, I think you are beautiful with your hair shorter all "fluffed up" as Peg puts or not fluffed up! I don't fluff up any more except for mascara, cause one of them power surges would leave looking like a Halloween mask! lol Nice happy looking group you have there! Hi to Will for me..
(((Donna))) -ty ;)
Wolfie, read my long post from early this a.m. ;) hehe.. now I'm telling you to read my post... that link up there makes my email from work come up and looks like I'm emailing images@google... I really wanna see your images.... and can you post a new pic of the Iochroma? Please?

Joyce, I've been using the Bayers for roses for years, the Tree and Shrub 12 mo stuff is new for me this year to help with Aphid control over winter in the basement... I use about a capful of the Rose stuff for a the big 25 gal tubs and guess on a ratio for the smaller pots... (kinda like I cook, pinch here, handful there)..according to how much food I'm making..

On the way home, I'm paying a visit to the car place to see what's going on with repairs.. haven't heard a peep since I called them last Thurs, so I'm Sherlock Holmes first.. THEN home to clear a path in the basement for the hibs, ee's and etc. TTYL - Hope Becky is up there somewhere with an update on Momma... Karen, if you are still here, somebody d-mail me and let me know.. I'll check in when I make it home and call her, if she's not checked in.. k? Didn't want to call her back last night cause I hoped she was able to get some rest..

(Cathy), MO

Good morning everyone. I'm behind again so just skimmed the posts. Welcome to Jeanne. I know just where you live! :-)

Have a super day all

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Donna and Karen, do you both have the blue hibiscus/rose of sharon? And can you tell me the difference between the rose of sharon and hibiscus. they look the same to me? Still learning here, so it never hurts to ask questions???
Mike, do you have any cuttings or seeds from the Iochroma? And yes, can you please post a picture, we would love to see it.
Everyone have a good day, and I hope the storms have gone out of your area, and the damage in minimal.
LK

AuntB, thanks for the winterizing insrtructions. I am still working on where to winterize but at least I might be able to bring her in the house if I don't have 3ft of wing span. It's hard not to over water when you've been watering everyday through the summer. I will try to control myself. I also have to bring my mandevilla in and egg tree. My guest bedroom is becoming my rooting and germinating nursery for the winter. I think everyone else will be alright in the greenhouse, if my hubby ever puts it together :). If no greenhouse it's back on the front porch. I too might try Tammie's bubble wrap of plant and around pot if I decide to let the "Miss" stay on the porch.

Donna, I will worry over my brug too. I worry over my surfinia cuttings and desert rose and egg tree seedlings now. "Miss Gargantuan" is my first brug. I hope to do right by her.

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

oh I'm glad it's not that cold here yet. I haven't even begun to get ready the pots that are coming in the house for winter, just my beds. Still waiting for all the leaves to fall off the oaks to act has mulch. I never have to mulch and cover my beds. The trees do it all by themselves. Thank God.

Cat and Donna, thank you for the welcome. I am enjoying this forum very much.

Linda, I don't know the difference between rose of sharon and hibiscus either. Glad you asked the question for me.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Wow ya'll, I can't believe I'm so blind! This is the bank building for sale directly across the highway from me. You can see my Pampas grass lining my yard in the photo. The tornado hit directly across the street from me. I am luckier than I thought I was for sure. Just got back on a walk through of my yard, it is pretty grim out there, but my Brugs in ground made it fine. I will have more cleanup than I did after Ike if that tells you anything....I'm pretty bummed about that but glad to be safe ♥

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

wow Karen, you were blessed. It's amazing how such a vortex can wipe out one part of a street and not the other. Or even just one room of a house and nothing else. I hate picking up the trash the storms leave behind.

oops, I smell a dirty diaper. Must go and tend to the grandbaby. Hope to see some of you later this evening. Have a blessed day and stay safe. Jeanne

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Hi Jeane!
Wow Karen you are indeed a lucky girl! Glad to hear that you made it alright!
Hey Bonnie, you are indeed a walking encyclopedia, hee hee!
Louise you are a real hottie hottie.
Hi Linda Kay and Cat and Donna and James and Wolfie and everyone else lurking around.

Back to work for now!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my gosh, was that from your storm last night? I am so glad to hear you are OK. That was too close for comfort!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, Linda Kay, it was. I was so worried about my scarecrow I didn't even notice the bank until later this morning. It was a close one allright....

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Waaay too close for comfort! That is amazing! glad it was them and not you... and your plants are safe too! I am about to give up on my plumerias.. several grew well this year but not a single bloom. .. and now I have to over winter them again. I baby them so much without a single reward. I may just pack them up and ship them to someone who has better luck while they are still rather small. Most are still about 2 years old. LOL

.... gee.. make more room for brugs!

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

well I would take anything that anyone wanted to send me..........lol

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Karen, what did it sound like and how long it lasted?

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Well I edited the List for the Blue Hibiscus'

Donna you didn't cause any confusion...I was confused from the get-go....

The Tropical Hibiscus/Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis.... It is considered a Tender Perenial...I think Zones 9-10 correct me if i'm wrong..Some I guess to zone 11
And need to be brought indoors in other zones for the winter...
EXAMPLE- http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/177296/

The Hardy Hibiscus is Rose Of Sharon/Hibiscus Syriacus and stays in the ground good in zones 5-9
It gets they say about 8-10' tall
EXAMPLE- http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/48615/

And There's Hardy Hibiscus/Rose Mallow /Swamp Mallow Hibiscus Moscheutos Perenial in zones 5-9
EXAMPLE- http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/40888/ Don't Know if they come in BLUE??

There are Dinner plate Hibiscus' which with dial-up it's taking too long to search....Some I know are zones 5-9
They die off to the ground in winter and grow again in spring..

Now Hotties lets get confused even more with the ROSE wants..
Specific's Please...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Louise, go to Wal*Mart and get the Hair, Skin, and Nails vitamins! My hair is growing back and I was really getting thin on top! My nails were this as paper, splitting and peeling. They're pretty strong, now!

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Jeanne...Don't feel bad my girls are 4 years old and no blooms yet...
But since coming here I've figured out it wasn't their fault but mine...
I wasn't taking care of them like they wanted me to...So now their a whole lot happier...
Their kinda high mantience and they can take cooler temps then I first thought...

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Audrey I gave those pills to my daughter and her nails improved so much. They do work but need to take them on a regular basis.

(Cathy), MO

I have an extra Lavender Chiffon Rose of Sharon if that will work

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Audrey, what brand are those vitamins. I need something for my nails. They are so thins, and peeling all the time.

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Cat,
Linda Kay said she'd take anything that was blue....Hardy or Tropical
and Faye said anything hardy thats blue

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Linda Kay, those pills are sold at any pharmacy, just ask at the counter. i forget what my daughter was taking

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I will go look for them.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

SCUSE me... you chattie Cathie Hotties.. ALERT ALERT READ THIS:

I called Becky a few minutes ago.. her Momma is doing fine.. Becky hasn't left the hospital and will stay again tonight. She couldn't get her laptop to work, with the hospital phone, so I gave her an idea to try and hopefully that works... guess we'll see, cause she said she's really tired of playing solitaire and Momma doesn't like the T.V. on... poor sweet Becky...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Becky, more prayers going your way, for you and your Mom. Tell Becky she needs to get some magazines, books...
Please take care.
God Bless

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

anyone working on the new list should dmail peg and let her know what is in the works. Don't want our hotties gettin twenty of sumthin LOL.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I will look at those vitamins next time I am at wally's. I always take vitamins anyway. sublingual b12 and walmart mature and coral calcium.

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

what is this list for?

lilsista thanks for the encouragement. My "miss" is less than a year old. I just wish she'd Y. I must be patient. I'm beginning to realize thay can take cooler temps than the catalog said. Tis a good thing. We are going camping next week for a week. I know it won't go below the 40's while we are gone so I can leaver her out.

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Jeanne,
we started a list "If you could have one more plant, what would it be?" and we are trying to get them for everybody, either already having them to send, trading for them or hunting for good deals for that person. I think this was about 4 threads ago. If you would like to join in, we have not got everybody closed out yet, so feel free to name your One More Plant. :))

It's been fun doing and there have been some interesting discussions, and I think probably within the next week or so, we will have everybody covered for their one plant, even if it may have to be shipped in the Spring, depends on the plant! :))

And, now is the time if you want/neeeeeeed more brugs to let everybody know because they're trimming up theirs for the winter. Peg

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

If you haven't noticed yet merpeg is now doing the list keeping...
All have's and wants go to her now...
It's been fun...
So now lets all try and get the rest of the wants a done deal...

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

thanks Peg. I would like a Peony or Camelia. Camelias remind me of my time in Alabama. They may be hard to find. I've been looking at them in the catalogs. I would love another brug. There are far more out there than I realized. There are so many colors, all beautiful so it wouldn't matter except pink. That one I have in "Miss G".

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

will be back later. Hubby's tummy is grumbling. Later
