Hi Hotties, Karen sent me over to meet you all. I am a beginner brug owner and have so many questions. I have read so much about them and there are conflicting ideas as to how to grow them. I'm so confused!!!! I have an Angel Trumpet "Cherub". She is 4ft tall and hasn't Y'd yet. She is otherwise healthy. Do I put her in the ground or no? When do I put her in the ground.? How do I over winter her? Someone suggested I take a cutting in case she didn't make the winter, but that meant cutting the top half of the trunk off. I can't bring myself to do it. I am really wanting to wanting to do what's best for her. I've grown attached to her. She is a challenge.
Any advice would be helpful. Jeanne
She's About To....# 24
Mike, If your offer still stands, PLEASEEEEEEE PINK PERFEKTION and NEW ORLEANS LADY. Never before joining this Brug hottie forum have I ever considered myself greedy. BUT BOY AM I NOW. I want every Brug I see. I do have a white and a pink NOID that were sent me by the hotties, small but oh boy someday they will have something to show. I had never seen Brugs before here. Love them all.
Thank you again AuntB!
Oops, forgot to post a picture....Darn it Iris, sure wish I'd know you then hon....You can't get any blue ones where I live....
Welcome Jeanne! I'm so glad you joined us! I will be meeting Jeanne at her first RU next week in Tyler. She only lives about 20 miles from me too! Jeanne you will just love this bunch...{{{hugs}}}
Karen is this the plant in the pix below?
AuntB, I have a twinject pen, 2 shots in it and it is in a case that has a belt clip. PITA to bring through security where I work so usually I keep it in my locker.
You are right Clem, I told you all that the devil gets POed every day when I make it out off bed. Didn’t ya all know that only the good die young!
I am looking forward to a long relationship. By the way Karen, my NOAA weather radio just issued a severe thunderstorm warning for our area. It said it would hit Frankston around 9pm. Winds of 60 mph and small hail, heavy rain. Then it will be our turn. Take cover. Jeanne
Thanks Jeanne ♥ I'll be on the lookout! Donna looks exactly the same, here are the Google images for it

Hey, ya'll don't forget to welcome my friend Jeanne ♥
hee hee
Ok need to be serious now, Hi Jeanne
Karen, NOAA went off again with a tornado warning. A tornado hit Montalba and Tennessee Colony. BOLO.
Welcome Jeanne!!!! I will let the southern hotties give you advice on bruggies..I am in the frozen north so I really cannot help you. keep bugging them we start a chattin and forget stuff! LOL My first year with brugs too...I have a blooming seedling right now.
Louise we are all bad weeds, hee hee, live forever and ever and have fun!
I like that blue baby guys
Hi Jeanne, welcome to brugland. I'm pretty much a newbie too, one plant trying to give me some buds, but fall off. Going to see if I can root some cuttings soon. Hope I can give them a good start.
Pegi
Louise, you have a blooming seedling already and I have "miss Gargantuan" who just wants to grow straight up and produce leaves that some "thing" loves to eat tiny little holes into. Someday..... I have a dream...... of a big pretty pink brug. sigh.......
Hey Donna...that sure looks the same to me. Hugs and hope you are gettin better!!
Jeanne if you are worried about her just take her in when frost is threatening. you can always plant her next spring. She will be bigger and stronger then. I was really worried about mine in these 40ish nights until I read that where they come from it is 85 in the day and in the forties at night. Bonnie has even left hers out in the high 30's without harm..I think she said.
Welcome Jeanne...
AuntB is she gonna tonight or is it too cold...i'm waiting...
Oh here we go again Clemie...Hee Hee...
Didn't tell me the other day so I won't ask tonight...
Yo te quiero
Good Night All
Goodnight...
good luck Pegi. Let me know how you do with your cuttings. Let me know how you do your cuttings, one newbie to another. I used to live in zone 10 in sw Florida. Never had to worry about freezes. Now I do. I worry over every plant. Yeesh. If I could put Palestine in zone 10 it would be a perfect place to live.
Jeanne I had twelve seedlings...plus four sent to me...the two that are blooming or budding are not mine LOL. The two I kept of mine...one is seven foot tall and jut y'd and the other is five foot tall. Mine is a giant too..cross of pink beauty X ecuador pink.
This is one of the seedlings sent to me by someone else..just bloomed this week.
Yippie Phillis you finally learned it, yo te quiero tambien!! doing the happy dance!
Nice pinkie color Ms. Louise
my problem is where do I bring her in? I might have my greenhouse put together by then but will it be enough protection? It may or may not be heated. So if not the greenhouse is my husband's workshop enough? Once it is in the ground I know it will be alright. But that won't be til spring.
does it freeze there more than just at night?
Just y'd at seven feet? Oh Lord, I hope "miss Gargantuan" doesn't decide to wait that long. But then again I can see the positives in that. Your pink is beautiful. I didn't know there were so many colors of brugs. They are gorgeous all.
Thanks for the welcomes ya all. You are most kind.
well I did not think I would see flowers until next year, that was a surprise when pinky bloomed and had that many buds. The other one only has one bud so far LOL. go figure. Bonnie gave me a maya that is gonna bloom soon too. In fact she gave me my first two named bruggies.
last year we did have several days throughout the winter where we got down into the 20's with highs only in the 30's. I only lost one geranium in all that. I used my front porch for shelter. It has brick and gets the eastern sun that warms and retains heat enough to keep the porch 10 degrees warmer than the actual temp. I water everything so the roots are insulated and then cover. it is what we did in Florida when we would get the occassional frost. It has worked real well for 3 winters here.
what does the maya look like?
karen , well in the spring give me a holler . they might have them again . they always have the same things every year .. mike too if no one can find one they have them at my kroger .. ill be blue hibiscus santa
hi jeanne , i just started with brugs last week i got them in a trade . im dying to see blooms .. it now has four leaves ...
ok so when will i get blooms ... any chance ill see one on a 12-18 inch cutting with 4 and counting leaves , before spring its in the hot laundry room with good light and definitely good humidity
i wonder how Beckie's momma is??? Beckie you said you wil have your lap top, report yourself girl
Well I would only bring them in when there is frost...then it really doesn't matter much where you put her if it is only for a short time. I am dragging my ylang ylang in and out right now..forties are too cold for it.
weesee i want ylang ylang. My mom had a huge tree back in our country and fragrance was just wonderful
Yea, I'm always dragging something somewhere in the winter.
Iris, I've been told that they won't bloom until they "Y". That's why I'm hoping mine will grow to seven feet before she decides to Y. I'd like blooms before then. Oh well, it's a lesson in patience, right?
Hi y'all
Sandra, you sound like a Texan :)
Clemen dear, you are right!!! Just realized we haven't heard from Becky, I sure hope that's not a sign that her Momma didn't do well.........bless her heart!
Jeanne, you are gonna LOVE it here! We share our hearts, and talk about family, kids, problems, health and BRUGGIES! This is the best bunch of Gals and guys I've ever known, I love them all and am proud to be a part of them. So glad you came by!
