Here's the eye-candy I found.... only brug blooms are past their prime... :(

Both of the girls are here and are stripping all the leaves off all the burgs. They will bring them into the basement this afternoon. We have not had a frost yet but came really close last night. If it were just me I would wait until the last minute. The girls have no clue of what they are doing or why, only that I said those plants had to come in before frost so today is the day.

Eye candy is beautiful AuntB.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

well, I cleared all the stuff around my versi peach out there and her second bloom is now hanging and she has a Y .. the base of her is grown into the brick edging, so I am going to have to cut her after all and hopefully we won't get a frost before then, she is the last thing I am bringing in, got the purple queen going in pots and we have new buds already from that one droopy plant that I cut into pieces and rooted... the lonicera and the butterfly bush (not budelia) is now in a pot to bring in, as well as the plumbago blue and alba, have the morning glories in the pots I am bringing in and the water bottle planters have been pulled out and emptied and reseeded , I have a mess outside, I better go clean it up, Donna glad u r up, iris, chin up and one day at a time, AuntB (bonnie) u r my hero.. Clem hope u r getting some fun things done..dreaming of a bloom before frost.. Debra

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Glad you're getting things done Debra. I feel strange letting the girls do the work.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Debra you sound a lot more organized than me.. I've got so many projects going on..I had to come in, checks lists and re-group. Donna dear, I'm just tickled pink those lovely DD's are getting that done for you... I was skeered we'd have to send new ones to you for next year... You just get used to it...you deserve some pampering, Lady Donna! Here is Cassie with her first bud... and she's getting potted up as soon as the deck is shaded, Antique Lace is getting some of the seed pods removed and potted up one more time, too... THEN I'm bringing the lawn mower & trailer around. My boss let me take a company truck while my my car is in the shop and it's coming around to back as well. I'm laying the BIG girls down in the truck bed in hopes of minimal bud loss, wonder how many trips we'll make with the brugs and hibiscus? I have Melissa and Drew today to do the lugging... It is a reality now... Winter is coming. :(

Should they be stripping all the leaves and spraying with neem?

(Cathy), MO

Hi everyone. Trying to catch up, but I finally just started skimming! If I overlooked anything important, please forgive me! :-) The last few days I've been gone alot and my son is coming tomorrow for a week, so today is my only day to get stuff done!

Daydreams has 3 pods open now and several more almost there. If the weather will stay warm a few more days, I'll have open blooms on a few others! I am going to finish cutting the brugs up today and tomorrow and get them in the mail Mon. Along with a few other trades I have going. Trying to get things wrapped up so I can stop worrying about them! :-) I'll have amaryllis coming in to get sorted and mailed out in a couple of weeks and want to be caught up on everything before then.
Hope you are all having a super day

Good afternoon all you hotties, everyone is preparing for winter and I'm still complaining about the heat. Today it cooled down and went to check my brugs. I think the soap spray might be working, going to look for neem next time I go to Lowe's. Have a tiny bud forming, now will it grow to maturity ot not?

Bonnie so many brugs, how wonderful. That purple one with your eye candy is awesome. Looking forward to the day when I can pose such beauties.

AuntB, that purple bloom may be past it's time, but she is still Beautiful. Do you have a earlier pic?

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

No I didn't get any taken Faye. I really should have put them in the ground...poor things are in gallon pots... but they are right outside the door where I can see them, so I'm enjoying what they are giving me. Gosh, Cathy, you are a whiz over there getting things done... and you are doing coops? You dear lady. Donna, I think you said they were going to the basement.... (CRS) If they will be going dormant, I'd take all the leaves except the very top 4-6 leaves, all the little growths on the stems, too cause they will probably eventually turn brown and drop anyway... you might get growth coming from the roots sometime in late winter... but, once the leaves are removed, then spray, you'll use less and it will be easier to coat everything... hope I'm not too late... OK, I'm getting the kids out there and do this thing...

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

auntb that hibiscus is awsome . i have to slow it down on the plants that i have to bring in lol i love hibiscus so i grabbed a bunch of swamp mallow seeds from the a camp sight. they are hardy here lol

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone...been out playing all day. Created a new flower bed, need about 20 more just like it....While everyone else is putting things up I dragged a bunch of stuff back out. The ee's are going to have to go dormant I guess cause we already have spider mites. ...dang. The brugs are coming in the sun room along with the hib from lav(to pretty to leave out). Still have lots of work to do and DH tells me tomorrow morning we are going to a car show at 8am....to a little city about 1 hour north of here...I need 2 more months to get ready for winter.

Samigal wish I could complain about the heat, today was beautiful but we all know frost is too close.

Last year when my brugs got mites in the house I couldn't take it anymore and I stripped all of their leaves of! We couldn't get a break in the weather so I couldn't spray them and they were so full of leaves that my little spray bottle of soapy water just wasn't making it.

AuntB the brug and dat are just beautiful. The brug will be amazing.
Donna glad you are home...there's no place like home..

MG can you guys shut up for a second or too. I lost internet connection all day and have been lost, love you all, time for dinner, hey Donna is back, yippie!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Oh Kim, I don't know what that is, but it doesn't look good to me. I don't know anything about passionvines, but I do love them. Hope you find an answer soon.

Pegi

I guess everyone has to worry about insects & brugs, not only me. I think I should go out and look at them again. If we do get a frost I'm going to be ready this time, lost a few plumeria to frost a couple years ago.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Kim that looks like a meatball left over! LOL I think it is probably a wasp nest of some kind...I would post it on the insect identification forum for sure. I really do not think it is harmful in any way. I wouldnt bring it inside if you plan to bring your passie in..just cut it off and leave it on the ground. Bonnie your pics are loverly...I really wish my old camera would take true color pics. My brug bloom is still gold with a pink skirt so I am going to name her tentatively "tequila sunrise" so pretty with the gold and pink. It is a seedling...a sauv cross...white x peach to peach x pink. don't know what the pink parent was the others were listed as sauv.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Well that's one meatball I don't wanna try!!! ; } I will post on the bug forum!! brb....

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

ok pic just taken right now. My brugs got blown over in our lovely Nebraska gusty breeze. Couple flowers got broken. No other damage thank goodness since it took out Maya when it fell.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh now that IS cool!!! See did not think it was anything harmful! That was fast ID. Those peeps are geniuses. I have used that and the plant ID forum several times. I think some of those people just live for the challenge.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

ID in a flash!!!! Could be 150 lil ones in there : ) It pays to not use harmful spays when you can : ) So how is the scent of your beauty??

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Kim that is a praying mantis egg sack, I would leave it all winter, it will hatch out mite eatig helpers.. ;) hey all hi and love the brug and hibiscus pics, got some new brugs in the mail today so I had to get them potted , all the plants nside are very happy, will post pics later, the hisbisus are all blooming away in the basement, and the brugs seem happy too! (Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

i got a varigated one called snowbank, a charles grimaldi, and a betty marshall, and a plant called geisha girl, and a cestrum, and a tangerine beauty trumpet vine, and ..

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Oh well they stripped everyone of the leaves, and then sprayed with neem. I think I should spray some kind of bug spray in the basement too. Yes? Checked the weather here now and for the next 5 days the low is only in the 40’s. Last night was just an odd one. Well they are stripped and in now. Should I water a little and just keep cutting it back? This is not how I planned to do this but I have to take what I can get.

Beck, so glad you are better from your shot. I’ve taken Lisa in for them and she has walked in fine and pretty much crawled out. 24 hours later and she is up and around. I am surprised they did not tell you that could happen.

Wow Joyce creating more stuff now that’s my girl, if I were well I would be changing the impatien bed over to pansies, and adding the mums now. I usually do at least one large fall garden.

Louise, your pix were great I got to see them on the last thread. I could not read well because of the meds but I could see the pix. Tonight it is better, I can concentrate a little. Now I get to see these and reading is getting easier.

Kim, Mantis egg wow, lucky you, I think.

Cat, I don’t know how you keep up with all, your daydreams is gorgeous. So glad you got to see her bloom.

Oh AuntB, I’m so happy your Cassie has a bud, I told the girls to strip everything, they would not have known what a but looked like and I did not want to know if there were any. I hope yours blooms so I can see how pretty she is.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Whooohooo somebody got a great plant fix today!!!!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

oh Deb! You got cestrum nocturnum? might have spelled that wrong. I LOVE it. It was heavenly in full bloom. I got a 2" pot in the spring and it is over 5 foot tall now. Has been covered in flowers from Late July on. The scent is like a musky baby powder. It is very strong! Some people hate it..but I love it!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi Donna!! I would spray the room with something. One of our Hotties recomends Home Defense..can't remember who... CRS moment ; }

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Donna I am so glad you are getting help with your babies? What sweet kids you have. It is ok...you will have lots more seasons to fuss over blooms. Just glad they can save some of your leafy kids.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

HEE HEE Kim CRS I have that bad. The big fivee ohhh in January.
