Betty, if you read the small print on your pain medication it probably says somewhere: WARNING - DO NOT OPERATE BAND SAWS AFTER TAKING THIS MEDICATION. LOL! Pleeeeeeeeease be careful.
2nd. Annual DG Christmas Workshop "Victorian Santa" Pt.3
Betty, I love the pumpkin cat! It looks as if those are attachments for a pumpkin. Did you make them and if so I would love the pattern? He is the cutest thing I've seen.
I bought you a Thanksgiving card, carried it around Michigan with me while traveling this past week and now it looks like you will get it after the fact in Frankenmuth next weekend. They seems to be better than mail at this point. But Happy Thanksgiving Canada!
Oh Betty, Please be careful on that band saw! My DH is going to drive me insane... He smashed his pinky finger at work on friday... and I mean really smashed it! ugh! now on pain killers still went to the cabin this weekend to 'finish up' the floors and gutter. so he was up on the roof fixing a gutter while on pain killers...then drove home 2 hours yesterday...
its all I can do to keep him sitting on the couch today...he wants to start making arbor #2... I told him no way! not til the finger is better and no pain pills! LOL!
I still have to get my robes done, maybe tonight or tomorrow... lol!
Just got back from supper, not the same having it at son and DIL's...not sure why..Jeff is ill and didn't make it, everyone playing cards, I was the odd man out (woman I should say) lol...so thought I'd have an early night...
Got all my fingers intact...even cleaned up all the sawdust..only thing remaining for me to do is attach the wire to the dowel..of course Greg has my air compressor and bradnailer..need the compressor for the air stappler..so, promises to bring it with him tomorrow along with a ladder..still have closing in back deck to do tomorrow and I've accomplished everything + + + on my 'to do list'... might even sit an hour or so out in the yard and enjoy (that would be the longest I've sat out all summer... ) so much to do..
So calling it a night...
Up early and at it..made great headway...
This project was originally made from a 12" high 'craft' size tomatoe cage..then a piece of clotheshanger soldered at the top as to hold the head..so I've had to revamp..not only can I no longer find these cages (even checking with distributors) but it couldn't reasonably be shipped..so I've created my own armiture - simplified but does the same, will be easy for you to put together..so thank you for having patience..almost there...
Need long headless nails so they can fit into the hole I drilled in the dowel..this will hold the head on..wouldn't you know it being Thanksgiving the stores are closed...
But the good news of today is all will fit into an envelope and thanks to some of Gita's suggestions, faces should arrive safely...
Now if only Greg would bring me the compressor so I can air stapple the large wire to form hands together...then it will simply be getting nails and envelops..
Think I'll sit this afternoon while waiting and make up the shipping names/addresses so I'll be ready to roll...
oops forgot to ask..at one time we had 2 Deborah's listed...know I have Cordeledawg but is there another who may have registered....don't want to forget anyone...
Was it me????? Don't forget me!!!!!
Debra
yep had you as well, not sure why I had a 3rd...same as Donna - Gapeahen..just had Donna then Gapeahen..so presume it's only 1...
OK now you've really got me confused...
Have Luvs2garden2000 and Darlinmoma with same address and zip code except one says Oregon and one says Oklahoma...help!!!!!
Darlinmoma is the mother of Loves2garden2000--I do believe the Norman, OK address is the correct one, Betty. Loves2garden2000 gets her mail at her mother's house so they would be the same.
Tks...yep got it all sorted out..labels done, just have to pack them all into their pkgs. and ready for Friday's mailing in USA...then it's up to you all...lol
Ah the Santa's..got to tell you finding replacement for tomato cage body structure wasn't difficult but last night I was prepared to air stapple the wire for the arms on them all..well, stapples were to long, went through the dowel and just barely .. went to Home Depot this morning looking for some not as long, don't carry them so tonight on my way home I'll stop at Rona..if they don't have them then I'll try putting the dowel were they show on the belt sander and see if it sands the peaks off...imagine...then because a tomato cage is almost t-pee shaped which will make the dress come out, I purchased batting which I'll cut up in strips..thought to myself, self, in order to have the roundness in the bottom maybe they can use a margarine container turned upside down on the base for the fullness with the batting wrapped around...come hell or high water, I'll make this work...just making this rusted old brain work a little harder...lol...
Ah, my dear friend, making the brain work is what keeps us all young!!! I have no doubts you will solve the situation.
Eye Brow Raise Betty!!
Oh my gosh, sounds like a job for tinker toys.
so here is a brain storm! In the floor base, what about drilling three holes on and angle, inserting three additional dowels on an agle to form your tree.
although, migh have to include a smaller disk at the top, Yikes that would mean more work, but worth a thought and a try.
Waving Hello to Everyone!!
P.S. Betty sent you a d-mail.(replyed to woohoo dmail) concerning check...in the mail today!
Judy, you could be an engineer!
Gosh, Betty, is it something we could devise ourselves? Might be several workable solutions. I hate to see you work so hard on something we could do.
I agree with Debra about the something we might can do. There could be several options to make the skirt stand out and once we have them together it will come to somebody how.
OH my gosh, yep for sure...UM was watching the king and i on Monday...
Remember hoop skirts, How hard could that be for us to make?
On the other idea, Thanks Debra...I mean we could purchase the extra dowels...so not to add to ship ments, would just need to know the size right.
Lets, i am going to look up hoop skirts see if i can figure how to make them.
Check this out:

Whooo Hoooo! You go, girl!
Judy, yes that is a solution and had thought of that but I've everything under control..sounds confusing but NOT...you'll see..busy tonight with painting class, tomorrow night with shipment, Fri./Sat. in Frankenmuth...then Sunday I'll post step by step pictures so you get the idea...
Did everyone find the sterofoam balls??? Saw them at the Dollar Store just after wouldn't you know I paid $5.98
Betty, would a styrofoam cone/tree work for the body? It is tapered like a t-pee?
Linda Kay
Probably would, but everything's organized now..EXCEPT money out of my account for the hair, called the girls at the company I purchased it from last week and they guaranteed it was in the mail and should have had it latest last Friday, here we are nearing yet another Friday and no hair..
All pkgs ready for shipment just waiting on it, but my dilema is if it's in today and they put a p.u. order card in my mail box I get home to late to pick it up and leave to early in the morning tomorrow..I NEED the hair...without the card they'll not give it to anyone if it's in just by asking for me...think I'll take the key for the post office box off my key ring and telephone June later this afternoon and ask if she can check it out for me...
Keep your fingers crossed...if not, I'll just have to mail from here next week..not the end of the world as it's only October...but, I'm anxious to do the project as well..bought me some hunter green and also some royal blue - total of 5....soooo off to work..talk later...
Waiting patiently, June hasn't called to say the parcel was in or not in...should have told her to call...don't you just freak when you've got a plan and due to outside problems you can't get your plan into gear....I know, I know it's early yet..lots of time...lol
Betty, can you call her from you office, or a cell phone perhaps?
Linda Kay
betty the check is in the mail..went out this morning
She goes to Port Severn on Thursday to the seniors group and she's a gabber...will give her till 3:30 and then will call...anxious as I'd like to get all the envelopes mailed..and, I've still the batting to cut up..that won't take long though
Thank you...much appreciated Mibus 2
Oh happy days, (better not get too excited) she says there was an envelope in my mailbox, office size type...well the hair comes in braid and don't think it would be too large of an envelope...we'll see..hope they sent the right thing..anxious to get home now...crazy me...
Yippee!
Oh Boy, hope it is the hair, so you can get it all packaged together.
Linda Kay
Hey audrey, how ya doing today?
How are those blooms doing? Getting bigger?
Linda Kay
Tonight is the night..you'll all be getting parcels....even fits in an envelope
Yep, they're growing, and multiplying! I find more every time I look! Can't wait for a bloom!
Going to cry..got a lovely surprise from Ruby...seeds/seeds and more seeds...no hair..she e-mailed me back and said she'd research it's where abouts then I re-e-mailed and said think it's arrived but NOT, so not in the am I have to e-mail and ask her to send another shipment just incase the other is lost and send it courrier...
Sorry girls, had hoped to mail them all tomorrow...
Janice, you'll be ok as I have 1 pkg of hair left so as I'll be seeing you I'll bring yours...
Agian, I feel so badly..I'm on top of things but it looks as though others aren't...patience is a virtue right...say right Betty...
Right Betty!
Oh my, well, better late than never they say. Can we use some cotton or something else for the beard?
I know you have to be so dissapointed, not getting them. Company should tell you if they are in stock or not.
Linda Kay
yes you are so right Betty
probably works out best for me to have to wait as last Saturday we had the East Texas RU and this Saturday is the North one in Arlington by Dallas plus with changing my position at work I have to get used to not coming home during the day and I tell ya what it sure makes a difference I can't just take a nap now so have to make sure I stay alert on the bus. LOL
They guaranteed they'll ship another order tomorrow if I don't have it...no, you wouldn't want to use anything else..this wool beard/hair is so beautiful..that's what makes the project...it will be soon ,promise
