BJ that's precious! That was creative the way you knotted the handles. Go ahead and make a few more while I take notes ...... :)
۞Sweet Interruption۞ 35
Well, sun is shinning so I guess I'll go start digging up plants to make room for new pond.
TTYL
Debra isn't BJ making one for all of us?:)
Cindy, how lucky......I don't think we are going to see any sun this week....wind and rain right now with more in the forecast, and Porter is hiding in the hall whining, can't explain to the poor dog that I would make it go away if I Could!!!
LOL... yea, right... Trisha...
Got one more to go for my oldest g'daughter... then I might make one for my step daughter... then, maybe make me one. They're really quick and easy to make...
Might even get up the steam to make a whole rag quilt ...
Mom actually had a lot of fun doing the baby quilt and she normally Does NOT care to do anything that requires a sewing machine!!! Well, looks like I may have to break down and try one on my own:(
(chanting and doing that 'stir the pot' dance) Go Trishia! Go Trishia!
MARION! Where are you???? I need a big sistah favor. Please put in a call to Tebow and the Gators and ask them to pleeeeeeese take it easy on the Razorbacks during this 2nd half of the game. Hey, we just scored! Whooo Hoooo! Wow, Marion - you really have some clout!
edited to correct spelling - how do you spell clout? clought? clowt? lol!

INTERCEPTION! Oh, Marion, you have a lot of influence with this team.
I stirring, I'm stirring!!!!!!
LOL!
Oh not me Debra, I am pulling for Arkansas!! Tebow? Who's that? LOL Please oh please put some fire in those "hawgs" Debra!!!! Lived there 35 years but never learned to say Go Gaaaaaaaaa. Stops there!!!!!
Kim and I found an ad in today's paper that Bradley's had their famous sausage ready so we make a trip to get some. Well worth the drive, a little old clapboard country store that makes the best sausage I think I have eaten. Shocked as they had a full parking lot--10 cars!!!! Got a bottle of old fashioned cane syrup and Kim is trying to talk me into making biscuits in the morning. We shall see.
Stopped by Tallahassee Nurseries and got some petunias, snaps, ornamental kale, more parsley and white heather. Tomorrow work is cut out for me now.
BJ you bags really are nice. Gonna have to get myself busy and do one now.
Well think I will go see what is going to happen with FSU and Miami. Almost afraid to think on that one.

yes Debra I was no virtual food this morning LOL
Well the buses are clean mine and the other driver so no one can say we need to do it..LOL
guess I should go look in the yard and see what else I have to dig up for the Ru next Saturday too then do it a bit later when the sun is going down since I should have done the diggin this morning before it got warmer out.
BJ and LK I'm getting excited about next weekend can't wait to see ya in person.
Marion, we will all be here for bisquits and cane syrup in the morning.
That is fine. Some homemade sausage links also?
Yes, mam!
mmm and what time is all of this gonna be ready????
wanna make sure I am up in time LOL
Oh my.. you all are making me hungry for breakfast again!!!
Had my first pizza in months. Thin crust, with onions and hamburger meat. Boy, it sure was good. Kel could have pizza every night, but tomato sauce if it's too acidic just drives my stomach crazy!!
BJ, I love this one. Nice pink John Deere, just right for a country gal. Where did you find the fabric? It is too cute.
So, Marion, you'll be doing one too? It would be cute made into a hobo bag.
LK, your buddy wants to know if your ears are pierced and are you currently a subscriber to Birds & Blooms.
oh oh - I'm trying so hard to read to catch up, but these eyes are not cooperating, they are closing. with all the folks having health problems, I started working on something, thinking and praying while I kept my fingers busy. looked up and it was 3am.
The banana bread turned out the best I've ever made. wrapped up half a loaf to take to mom and dad, then forgot.
unloaded the truck from the mulch we got last night, oh what a hoot. don't ever try to predict what a teenager will think of to make work easy. Ruth got on top of the mulch, turned toward the cab, took hold of the luggage rack, and started running, shoving the light mulch backwards 3 feet with her running shoes! she had done in seconds what Randall and I had struggled to reach from the ground with shovels.
Sat with Randall and watched my NCSU Wolfpack almost win at football = 31 to 38 - Boston (where I also went to school, just not that U) scored in last minutes to go ahead. decided, what the heck, went, grabbed a few Parade books, went down to Cary to our old neighborhood (another new phase) and walked through one for $1.8 mil. not my cup of tea. VERY modern, masculine, spartan and space aged on the inside, classic on the outside. - ahhh - the camera is outside in the truck. well, will post it tomorrow.
Then went down to Garner, where I'd found some free shelf units on craigslist. The family lives in a tiny house with two very cute tots. The tots were growing and the husband's book collection had to go or the kids did! Randall took one look at my new "iris inventory" shelves, and declared those were the shelves he couldn't afford for his books. LOL - I think I just lost my new shelves to more books! ah me. I thought he'd be furious - he's tickled pink! the two fellas started discussing their favorite authors. We had a roast in the oven, so I had to break it up to get on home.
anyone have a good recipe for brown gravy for roast beef, like Shoney's on their open face sandwiches? this crew loved the roast, but not my gravy. I've never tried to make brown gravy before.
for gravy I usually take some and put it in a jar and add flour lil by lil shaking it with the lid on in between to blend and get rid of lumps.....til ti is rather thick then I add it to the rest of the "broth" and toss in say 1 tsp garlic, some black pepper anything else that trips my trigger and then heat it up to combine it all....once it is mixed well and hot turn it off as it will thicken as it cools off some
Whoooooo Hooooooo 68 squares all pieced now just have to get my strips for in between cut out and figure out what squares are going where as I have some that are more then one of each material ...I might even get this done yet this year ...hahaha and to think I have played with this off and on since 03 LOL
haven't quilted in years, so was feeling a bit envious.....until my eldest called, "you ready to sew tomorrow Mom?" ouch. my day was already quadruple booked, planting, cleaning these new shelves, hauling manure in, Parade of Homes, and Ruth's soccer game.
oh - I went out for the camera. This is from Gipson's Parade Home. I titled it the "Joystick Sink" as the faucet control looks like a computer Joystick. The flash created too much light. The walls a deep deep navy blue, the commode was shiny ebony, and the sink unit is mahogany red, the glass part is dark dark ruby.
$1.8 mil, and all ya get with all this "stylin' " is a $0.75 plain vanilla white switchplate.

that mirror above the sink is so spartan in design, it makes Mission styling seem too froufrou. that cabinet beneath the sink is a square box barely as big as the outer dimensions of glass bowl. The cabinet handle must have to double as the towel bar, cause there wasn't another one that I could see, but the room was so dark, there might be one.....
Guess this is all you get for $1.8 mil these days......
and the darn faucet was dripping when I walked into this powder room!!! so I turned it on - it's prettier when the water is flowing.
all I can say is, this powder room needs some Prozac - it's depressingly dark. When this poor owner gets older, they won't be able to find the throne.....

Any more photos, Bon? That's an interesting sink. The bowl is actually pretty in an 'artsy' kind of way. Not my style, but pretty. That's pretty funny about the switch plate. Maybe the builder ran out of money when it was time to cover the outlets. lol!
naw - Gipson is famous....infamous for his "modern" styling. On resale, some of his sit on the market a long time. transplanted California types buy them, mostly. But he only builds at this price and up. I like to go see these fancy houses for ideas.
here's a simple idea - I've seen these before, but never so small and "invisible" - this is a "back" staircase up from the kitchen of the house. with the camera flash, it looks like normal daylight at the bottom - it's not, but that's about how these would look in daylight. then at the stairs top, that's the actual light level, and you can see the bright safety lights that come on below a certain lumin level, placed every third to fourth stair, to help the young and old keep from tripping or falling. my sister and I both wanted to build nine years ago. Neither did, but something like this was on our MUST HAVE list.
good idea!
It's past this sistah's bedtime. Have to get up bright and early for Marion's pancakes and sausages. Sweet dreams ....
if I'm not sewing tomorrow, I'll take some photos for y'all of some up near Wake Forest and Falls Lake.
must not have been impressed with exterior, didn't take a photo. for $1.8 mil, and with a fancy upper deck and covered patio below, this darn house backed up to the woods -think there might have been 4 feet of grass in the backyard, then woods. But the exterior, to my eye, is unrelated to the interior. I thought it was the one with a 2 story library room, but it wasn't. It did have one cool item in the kitchen - a microwave built into the island below counter level, it was a drawer.
I need to redo all my bathroom tile, and may have to resort to trying to do it myself. this is one tile job I liked today, in an upper bedroom. I can't tell if this is the one with a dark line of foliage motif tile or if it's the one with the line of dark amber glass.
editted to add - it's the foliage motif - of course that's what I'd photograph!

sis, did you see your name sake, baby jaye?
ahem, saban took our team to another win yesterday
Morning all
Super Kathy tell her congrats!!!!
Now where are those pancakes and sausage???? LOL
LK-I have liked all the purses!!LOL No use in begging though-I can't compete with a g'dauter!!LOL
I think I got a box that is early for my Bday?? It came from Fairy Village?? I am going to try real hard to not open anything til my Bday-so if you sent the box, don't be mad at me:(
BJ-I think the JOhn Deere purse is a prefect mix for your gdaughter-absolutely perfect!!
If you can wait two weeks you have the patience of a saint! I would have to open it NOW!
she won't make it 2 weeks
I have my ears pierced twice in each ear, and I have birds and blooms, but not the birds and blooms extra. I love that magazine, so many beautiful pictures, and articles.
Stacey what are you waiting for. If I got a box I would have it open in a heartbeat. Never know when it is something perishable or something like that. I was glad I opened the box of cherries that Jim sent, other wise they would have been melted by now.
LK
Who's taking bets?
Where are those pancakes and sausages Marion promised? Well, if she's gonna cook our breakfast then she deserves to sleep in and cook it when she's ready. More coffee, anyone?
Debra, didn't you say you made two purses? Did you show us a pic of your second one?
I think I missed it.
Oldest g'daughter's bag is in the washer now... will show you when it's finished... still have to make the insert for it though.
Where is everyone this morning?
Kinda quiet in here.
Stacey, nobody expects you to wait till your birthday... open it now.
my mom gets birds and blooms and loves it she sends me a page or two when she finds something she thinks I need to read LOL
I say she can't wait that long LOL
back outside to dig and cut stuff back or up ...dang thai basil is trying to take over the herb garden area LOL
BJ I'm out diggin the lemon grass ya wnat ...LOL and pullin thai basil and have found a ton of seedlings for either the cone flowers or the coreopisis (bad spelling probably) and digign up the rest of the ditch lilies
Phyllis, speaking of taking over ..... I think I'm pulling up the 4 o'clocks planted from seed this year. Too thick to start with but I keep reading how they reseed like crazy and produce tuber type growths that make it impossible to get rid of them. Better do it now before they become a real problem. They are not in the long term plan for that bed.
I've never saved seeds - if I find some (4 o'clocks) what do I do with them? Also, I've notice canna seeds. Didn't know they could be grown from seed. Any advice on what to do with those seeds? The only plant I've tried propogating by seed was coneflower. all I did was deadhead them and bury them in the dirt. Seedlings popped up this spring! So my coneflower deadheads are all being scattered in the soil of the new coneflower bed.
BJ, I got sidetracked and didn't work on it at all Friday and didn't get back to it until last night. Almost finished clipping. It's not much different than the first one. Since I'm giving them to two girlfriends at the same time I didn't want one to look better than the other so I didn't make many improvements. The second does have larger pockets and a center seam on the handles but that's about it. I'm going for flannel today to begin rag quilts. Hancocks has 72" on sale but it's acrylic or polyester. Don't I need cotton flannel?
I was thinking the other day that when I was a kid Bdays were so much more fun partially because you opened everything at once so it was like winning the lotto. So I really am going to try to wait-I don't know if I can hold out that long either, but have asked DH to stop me if I try to get crazy!!LOL It came from fairyvillage.com, so I don't think it is perishable, but it has about 6 stickers on it that says fragile!!LOL
Ohy Debra-I am a seed saving freak!!LOL If you need anything,m JLMK-for Canna seeds, you have to start them early to get same year blooms
