{{{{Bonnie}}}} thank you thank you :o) I dunno how to root a brugie cutting and actually the ONLY cuttings that have survived in my hands so far have been EE's. Maybe you could root her for me?? OR give me REAL EASY instructions...I mean instructions a kindergartener could follow ;o)
She's About To...........#21
Gotta go for the show, but Hi Faye!! and I've missed Anjl, too... get her back over here, Melissa.. Karen, pretty Karen! Phyllis? 4 years? without a bloom? Now, you ARE one patient hottie! Nice offer on the plumie seed.
Congrats Faye!
Beckie and Karen I am blushiwng! Yep Aunt B I am
where is everyone, keep talking, I am meeting my friend from DG tomorro for the second time, I am sooooooooooo happy, Wish I could see Donna though!
heya hotties...brug bloom still did not open. We all get to name her when we see what her flowers can do. She is a seedling cross so the name is up to us. Karen you are such a hottie!!
Bonnie Maya lost a bud from the wind today so I had to move her to shelter. Gonna be chilly here tonight. Mid 40's...been busy bringing in all the smaller plants. It is about time to bring in the big ones. Some areas of Nebraska are getting frost tonight. Not us though.
Okay, ya'll, there are 7 more seed packages out there. Let me know if you want them, or I will just send them willy-nilly. (Boy, I just dated myself).
Santee, I'm with you. I can root all kinds of vegies, and grow all kinds of stuff from seeds, but I am not sure about brugs. I've killed about 10 now. Gasp, she's a brug killer! I tried my best, but it just did not work. So, the ones I still have, ahem, after babying them sooo much, one has four buds. But, it has no leaves, we have a worm infestation that is horrible, and it is two different types of worms. They are on all the plants, not just my brugs. But I still have the four buds on a very chewed up plant. We'll see.
Keith and I both went ballistic when we ended up with this, it's pretty bad. One worm is the webworm off of our pecan trees, the other one, that is more damaging, we have never seen here before. And its on almost all of our plants. And now we are finding dead squirrels in our yard. Did they eat the brugs? I actually picked one up tonight and Keith and I both looked at it, ( yeah, we're CSI). No physical damage, just dead. It was bad enough to have the worm damage, but dead animals is scary. We have not used anything toxic, so this it is just weird. Anybody got any suggestions? We are getting eat up!
Oh Peg I would report the dead squirrels and don't pick them up. They could be carriers of something. Does Ok have plague? Maybe someone sprayed their trees and the squirrels were contaminated by it. Either way I would still report it.
Faye that is the coolest picture of that brug blooming in the bucket!
Peg long time I don't talk to you, no help with the pecan, wish i could grow those trees here!
Louise, I need to know what you mean about plague, because my mind goes back to Europe and the "Black Plague" 300 years ago. Is there an animal plague that I need to think about?
Clem, it is nice to have pecan trees.. But they are way messy, and if they don't produce, they just throw the hulls down with nothing in them, so everytime you walk, it crunches. It ruins lawnmowers, kills the pool filter, people's feet , etc. But if we have a good crop, lot of good baking going on. :)
This worm is small, black and deficates green. (I tried to word that nice). But it is everywhere. I wondered if the worms are killing the squirrels.
Okay, sweeties, thanks for listening to me, but I have to, got to, go to bed. Love ya, Peg
zzzzzzzzzzz Peg, love ya
Ok, I have been gone for 4 days and I am not even going to try to catch up, cause I would never gain. Oh my gosh something I can't gain at.......how exciting.
The plant fairy came to my house while I was gone and only took one plant (dang) and left a bunch of plants....and big beautiful at that. That Lav4ever just made a big deposit at my house. Bless their heart I didn't give her directions and didn't realize google would not know where we are. I knew I was in the country just didn't realize how far I was.
Bonnie and Lav, hope you had a good time at the ru. YES Hotties need an ru. What states are we all in or do we know? That would be soooo fun. This was MG recertification. We went to bed at Midnight and one and got up at 5! Stupid and we did that almost everyday! These Hotties here might never go to sleep!

Hotties! Boy do I have a story to tell you. BRB.
Hey Karen, My birthday is 13 June...I turned 53 this summer! Lots of June babies here!
Sandra, what are you going to tell us.
Linda Kay
Welcome back Joyce!
Hotties here is a fun site to look and drool over..
http://kirchner-abel.de/site/home.htm
hey hotties, I just got in from Paulines and she is in bed safe and sound and was reading merpegs want list and I saw a want for cleodendrum and I have some.. AuntB? u betta tell me before it fweezes! LOL I have been trying to catch up here, looks like the RU was fun!
First, I want to apologize that I haven't read what ya'll have been doing all day.
But, Chelsea came tonight and I can't figure if she is playing me or not. She wasn't hostile but she wasn't warm either. She played with the baby for a while and then just like I figured, she was on the computer downloading music. (Becky remember us talking about this?) I started asking some questions and she remained evasive. I realized she wanted more from me, like the computer, then really wanting to figure out what has happened these last 22 months. So I let it go. She came downstairs to use the computer and after several times checking on her and Amiyah, I was exasperated, but kept my cool. I mean come on, Amiyah at one point was throwing pool balls around. The HP paper for the copier was scattererd all over the place. The pictures of some of the photos I have taken all summer were either crinkled up or just scattered.
Finally, DH and I with Chelsea looking on got Amiyah ready for bed. All Amiyah would say is Mama, Mama, Mama. She throws her up in the air and just plays with her. Of course, she wants to have fun. I tried to tell DD that this is not being a mother but a trip to "Six Flags" Wow!
Then after the baby went to bed, I started subtley to ask some questions. And, I found out that after the criminal was released, she brought his clothes over to his mother's house and he had thought that he would get back with her and once he found out it wasn't going to happen, he smacked her. Now, it's back to this. Is this a fight for a couple of days or is she done. Moving into the 23 month of the BS and I don't know if she is playing me or not.
Sorry Mary Kay, nothing but bad news!
Hey Deb,
Did you notice the coincidence from the other thread that I had mentioned. I am Sandra Diane, my older sister is Deborah Marie, next in line was brother Cleman Brett, and baby sis, was Karen Teresa? Thought that was kinda neat!
Man.. ya'll have done it to me again.. trying to catch up.. I can do.. trying to remember.. is another whole ball game..lol
Peg.. soooo good to see you posting.. I was just fixing to dmail you girl... Squirrels CAN have rabies.. silly SCI goose!!..lol... among other things. I agree with weese.. call animal control. They should come get him and hopefully can tell you! Far as the worms/cats.. who knows.. but i think there are a bunch that "defaecate".. green..lol
Bonnie.. through with your show??

Faye and Joyce.. so glad to see you!!
Pretty Deb.. bet Bonnie will love it that you have her "want"
SandrO.. whassup.. girl??
Sandy in your best interest and the princess don't trust her. I can speak fro experience. I don't know if they know what they will end up doing to us or it just leads up to that. But I am sorry I gave mine that chance and look how bad he hurt me. Trust takes yrs. It is hard I know they are our children but I am speaking this to my own self. I can not trust him...
OK begging for some brugs. I thought i was through but one more time. Please,,,,Please....Please,,,,Please....Please,,,,Please....Please,,,,
Please....Please,,,,Please....Please,,,,Please.... And all colors.
Oh my I am addicted....darn
Peg plague is the same plague...bubonic plague...it takes different forms and has different names depending on the visible symptoms. Small animals are carriers and in some states...squirrels. You would have to check with your state or the CDC to see if your state is one. Usually if it is endemic in your area there would be notices of some kind. Still squirrels can carry other diseases so it is best to report it if you notice dead ones.
Hey SANDRA U BET i CAUGHT THAT ON THAT OTHER THREAD, lol whoops caps lock! anyways weally weird cuz, I have a Diane, a Karin, ( two oldest daughters) and Karin has a Brett! sheesh!
the wind! my poor baby! I had to re-tie her up her bloom is hanging and there is a second bud too and the dang thing is
bound and determined to jump outta that corner! what is letting go dormant? what si the differece between that and live? SHOULD I CUT HER NOW OR WAIT STILL? oops dang caps lock thingy, hotties , I ordered 5 more brugs today ut ohhs...
First off, WELCOME HOME Joyce and Baytown Sandy! I didn't make it off the love seat till I stumbled to bed at 11:30, sorry I missed the chatter last night... :( Deb! Don't BUY any more brugs unless you check with us first, if you have certain ones on your list, we might just have them and can share)... SandrO, I have no advice, hon, sorry, but I know our children don't understand that we have unconditional love for them, no matter how much they anger us or what they do.. some are just mommie's before they are mature in the mind, enough and don't grasp or understand the scope of being a parent.. they can divorce their child's father, or never have them in the child's life, but they are their children forever, no matter who the child lives with... or what the courts decide... and Chelsea is missing out on a lot with Amiyah, the formative years and she'll regret it at some point in her life... I do feel Chelsea should care for the gift she was blessed with and leave the "man-hunting" until her daughter is more independent and doesn't need her as much... so, sorry, I guess I do have an opinion.... I just haven't walked in your shoes, as long as you're all trying or even just in the same room together, that is a positive step... 1 day at a time or 1 hour at a time... small steps soon lead to getting over hurdles..
Deb: Dormant brugs: potted, either cut back or stripped of leaves in fall - stored in cool dim area and watered ever so slightly maybe 1X every 4-6 weeks until the growing season starts... Green but not too actively growing-(I call semi-dormant)- temps at or above 50 degrees and light, water is offered a bit more often than dormant (they have more chance for bug infestation, but I'm experimenting to see if I can get blooms earlier in spring storing them this way) - If you are still waiting on buds to pop, and only have the one plant (or a few), I'd wait till the last minute to bring in, if possible.. I'm glad your MIL is resting, you are a very precious soul, lovely lady.
Baytown Sandy - I didn't take the Day Dreams I started for YOU to the RU, and I think I've promised a cutting to some other DG'er, but even tho you told me you weren't ready for brugs after Ike, I left your name on her... so she's waiting for her trip to TX, I'll hold her till after this weekend and IF you want, I'll stick in a couple that are very tough plants and would do well for you in TX, if you want to try rooting again... LMK via D-mail.
Sorry if I missed anyone, I need to shove off to w-o-r-k... but 've edited the want list again, so if it's incorrect please d-mail me and I know we have more hotties than what is on the list... Peg, wonderful idea girl WE ALL have you in the Her Highness category, too! ((((Meg))))):) Sorry bout the worm/squirrel conundrum, I would think someone nearby has sprayed Sevin or something for the worms and it's effected the wildlife... but I think I would bag a body and get professional advice... (maybe even bag a worm or two as well) poor lil tree rats.
Wolfie, you've got me wondering on the hummingbird vine- Deb has cardinal climber/cypress vine and I have trumpetvine/creeper - please elaborate, cause we're both wanting to unload...... I mean share our plants with ya. ;)
Louise! I'm not even going to peek at that link up there! lol So it's TONIGHT on that bud?? (sigh) what's takin so long?
Gotta run, continuing on with the printing today and hope to catch up to at least #17 or 18, and I'm poking pins in my map this weekend as a way to at least get something started on a HOTTIE RU --- how about in 2010? That would give us time to save and plan...

Perilla frutescens
Additional info: (aka Aka-shiso) thanks to DG here.. also I have trumpet vine like AuntB, but the humming bird vines are just wonderful to put around the base of trees and shrubs tht have quit blooming or don't bloom they are delicate, Wolfie, not chockig out like trumpet.. Pauline is not doing very well poor Lady such a grand dame in her time.. sad to see such a beautiful proud woman going down like she is. I am glad I got to hang out in her bed and watch TV with her last nite. Don't worry won't buy any more brugs until I see a success story I can offer LOL

wow thats a nice pic always good to see the sun rising in the am, I just came in from inspecting my brug out back and the first bud is hanging and the second is still upright, it got down to 49 last night, dug up the morning glory bush, collected morning glory seeds, 4 clock seeds and hummingbird seeds.. it is going to be a chore to get my jungle out back to the inside !
Here's a post from someone who says

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/908142/
Clem it's gonna be awful quiet around here without you today...

is when those darn kids : ) are in school...LOL
Going shopping with 1 or 2 of my DSD's...

James, lovely pic! Maybe since Clemen is busy today, we can ALL get caught up on the thread... (teeheehee) JK -dear Clemen.. (I sometimes feel I'm the blabber mouth of the hotties) Deb, I've never heard hyacinth bean referred to as Japanese... before this year... I will check my seed inventory, I may even have some white to share with you, too! I'm trying to get all this recorded in my journal... so since no one is d-mailing me, I'll have to go by this 1/2 memory I have to work with...lol So be spectin' some d-mails hotties, (and some of you lurkers, too) cause it won't be long till the blizzards are blowing and it's finally all tucked in for winter. I know I'm supposed to be finding a Day Dreams cutting, but I think that is for someone on the Midwest forum-- (Baytown Sandy, I'm keeping the rooted one for you) And SandrO, you must be beside yourself with Clems brug on it's way to you... (phew Thanks Clem, maybe now she can leave her pity party) lol... JK SandrO, I'd pout too if I were brugless... weeeeee, it's fall! Cool 47 degrees this a.m. I put on a long sleeved top today. (thougt about putting on reg shoes, but want to give this "bum" toe a few more days before I test that out).. Hope I haven't gotten everyone confused but I'm multi-tasking over here, have 2 printers running and the paper is flying! That's the word I couldn't think of Deb... perilla, kinda like coleus, huh? It's so sad about Pauline, I'm sure you are truely and angel and I just know she very much knows that about you!
2010 wow that sounds like a looooooong ways away. Would we do it when we could swap stuff, like early summer or summer?
Got to go.

Sandy.. just hang in there with your DD( I'm calling her dear here..lol).. I agree with Bonnie... she's very young yet, and already been though a life time most of us have never gone through... I wonder IF we would allow ourselves to remember our own selves, back at that age... what we would remember WE did!!
Peg.. need to hear more about the squirrels, or worms OR anything lol
OK I am outa here.. I have to get my butt in 4th gear... TTYL..OH James.. beautiful sunrise!!
Good morning everyone! Just LOVE that pic of the sun coming up! Florida has some spectacular sunsets too! Deb just LOVE my purple perilla. Such a lovely thug of a plant. I am home today and sick...yuck! Some kind of head cold or sinus thing. I think I got it from the nieces and nephews on Will's birthday. They were all just getting over a cold. Bonnie I was reading about where brugs come from, and the ideal temp for a brugs is 85 during the day and in the 40's at night. We are having perfect weather for them! No wonder the youngsters tend to Y and bloom in the fall! Gonna go plant the Antique lace cutting you gave me...it has little white root buds on it. It is the last thing to take care of from the roundup. Well I want to separate out the corkscrew vine into pots too. All my little plants are in...just need to bring in the biggies yet. Gonna wait and watch the weather. Thought I would work on more of the yard and lurk on the posts today. My fall cleanup is calling me.
