She's About To...........#21

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

James, I'm not taken the chance, I know you are anxious, but I'll pack her up this coming Sunday and get her in the mail on Monday, and you won't have to worry about her in the move... (plus, I wouldn't be able to mail this week until tomorrow and it probably wouldn't get down there until Fri or Sat)... don't want her getting caught between addresses, maybe I can send to a friend or neighbor if you've put in for an address change with USPS? I've been working on getting a nice rooted cutting of this girl for you for almost a year (it seems) and I don't want to take any chances, cause I won't have more rooted cuttings for sharing till next spring.. Not trying to be a incompatable, but I have a waiting list for her. So is it okay to wait a week or two even, till you know you are getting mail at the new place?

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Ok AuntB I can wait I will be getting my mail at my new place soon I hope I changed it in the exchange so that is my new address.

James

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

James, I'm so glad you are excited to finally get her, please double check the addr exchange and let me know... (always a coordinator - it's what I do) lol sorry to be such a pain!

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes it has my new address listed in the exchange I just checked it and it is correct.

James

Good morning Hotties;
Wow, you all are so chatty. I just skimmed over the threads, then had to jum here, and do more skimming.
As far as my favorite flower goes, it has to be brugs. I have 12 of them, and will have to go back and see how to wrap them in the bubble wrap to save them through the winter. But I would really love to have any double or triple bloomers, or a variegated leaf one!!!
I would really love to have the blue hibiscus. Do they put out seeds?
I still have my stitches, and have threatened to take them out, but I will be good until the doc can take a look, and tell me all is healing well. And the Dr. better be there this time, or I will take themout for sure...
Then hubby and I have to scoot to the other side of San Antonio, to trade our truck in. It has this terrible shake and rattle in the front end, and it keeps eating $200.00 tires. And the garage can't find anything wrong with it, so she will get traded in Thursday!!!
How is Donna doing? Better I hope. Tell her hello, and hugs when you call her again!
Guess that is all for now.
Linda Kay

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Thanks for stopping in Linda Kay, sure can't justify driving it if it's eating $200 tires, 4 at a time, and they can't find anything wrong?? .. best wishes finding a new truck, that's what I should get next time I get something different. Not sure on the blue hibs and I may have a double bloomer, (waiting on blooms) but I'm not sure if theres anything on her to share, yet as she's a youngin, but I'll look tonight.. enjoy your day! BTW- I'm getting VERY impatient waiting on those double bloom buds, too!
Thanks James for confirming, I'll d-mail you that I have got it on it's way Monday...
Okay Hotties, (morning to Peggins- missed you being on the thead this weekend, too, but I know you were being hostess) I've d-mailed Hottie Mary about thread #2 - wide posts that get cut off the page as it prints... I hope if she edits her first post wide post there it will fix... so I've moved on to #3 - 281 posts and 79 printed pages! WOW, jabber jaws, ain't we? (giving the hole punch a workout, too) Okay, from the looks of #21 this morning I'M a major Jabber Jaw! lol Looks like I need a 12 inch binder or I'll have to make numbered volumes of smaller notebooks...

(Cathy), MO

Wow this bunch can chat!!!! :-) Just skimmed over the posts so if I missed something, overlook me ok?
Glad Donna is doing better. And you guys should know "Hotties come first" as far as brug cuttings etc. I started my list with the ones you guys wanted. The ones I'm offering to newbies are what is leftover. Clem gets double!
I haven't got the monarda dug yet and just barely started on the brugs so it might be a couple of days before I get them mailed. Will let you know.
Hey anyone want the roots and a maybe 2-3 inch section of Orange Sherbet or Milk & Honey? I did the cuttings but have a small section left that includes the roots.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

I'm keeping my hands down with bricks Cat, but someone better snatch that root ball up, either of those are both great brugs! Missed you at the RU- but sounds like you are getting things accomplished out there! Won't be much longer till I get the machete' out.. (yeah, chatty cathy's ;) so to speak:)

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Cat... If no one else wants them i'll take them....

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Morning morning morning, well almost good lunch, it is just about noon ever here.

Thank you Cat for the bruggie, I'll take anything. I was telling DH yesterday that I want to line them up all along the bulkhead of the house so they will be all overlooking at the water. They are so pretty.

Beckie and Karen and decieded to to keep bidding on that tiny things it is up to 28 dollars, right now. I'll de mail you Karen about the other one.

Aunt B you can call Donnita any time, if she cannot talk to you, she'll let you know and get back to you. And no she is not in quarantine. she is not contagious at all.

Ok my hotties have a wonderfull afternoon, back to my work. See you later all! Clem

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Phyllis, you are so nice, first come first serve, Hottie, grab em up!

Message from home: Mel: Mom, did you lay all the brugs down this morning??
Me: (GULP), tears coming to my eyes.... No, it was dark when I left..... gulp
Mel: Well, sorry Mom, but they are all down except for the big tree one in the corner.... it's really windy, or I'd try to get them all standing back up..... What do you want me to do?
Me: (no more tears, now I'm mad) Leave them be unless the sun comes out. Bring my 2 pets on the deck into the diningroom cause I have that pod on Antique Lace (fingers X'd) and Cassie's Curls from Donna has it's FIRST bud.. is to be a surprise for her, and they are manageable for you... and I DON'T want to lose the pod or that bud...
FALL HAUL - begins this coming weekend, I'll not have the changing season's winds and storms wrecking havoc on my precious brug family! So prolly cuttings will be movin out real soon! Deb (joeswife) in Derby, hope you're still hangin with us crazy hotties!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Thanks, Clem... I knew she's not contagious but I thought maybe they wanted her in a "controlled" envirmonment... bet she's wanting outta there.. :( miss her. Your brug border sounds absolutely DEEVINE!

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Hey i'll share..Clem can decide which one she wants....
It's pretty quiet today...guess everyones still getting over the weekend..

AuntB sorry your Brugs got knocked over...Hopefully no damage...
Mines inside but i'm not sure how and when to cut them...??

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Bonnie, they did move her to another room though, the one she was in was way too hot for her so she is much better now. I miss her so much too!
Thanks about the border, right now it has dats and zinnias (almost dead now) and some planters with evergreens. I'll see if I can dig a pic later, really need to get out of this place.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

My goodness, just about to leave and you guys keep posting. Now I feel so privilege today with everyone's offering. Muchas Gracias Señoritas y Señores!

Now I am really leaving, gotta go to 5 different banks!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Phyllis, how big is your brug? I might be confused (can you IMAGINE THAT?? lol), but are you going to keep yours alive (not dormant) inside this winter? You may not want to cut on it, yet....

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

All 3 of the Isabella's are abt 4' tall...
Usually when I bring them in right away they lose all their leaves and go dormant...
But so far they haven't lost alot.....yet....
Right now I have them out in a spare room where the wood heat doesn't
get to them as much and it stays on the cool side.
Figured out I was babying them way too much and that they can take colder than I thought
(nothing less than 50 degrees)
So their happier...
I'm gonna experiment next spring and put one in the ground...

(Cathy), MO

I am thinking of taking the big ones I want to keep out of the pots, rinsing the roots, labeling, and putting several together in a 5 gallon bucket for the winter. Bonnie?????? Will that work? I can get the tub and bubble thing and add if it will help

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have heard that you should plant them in pots all by themselves, because of the massive roots they put out. That is just what I have read.
Linda Kay

Minneapolis, MN

Brugless :(

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Cat, you smarty! I think it may work, depending how big the roots are, and I would put an airstone bubbler in the bucket with them.... not necessary to purchase tubs unless the roots are too big.., but hey, cuttings I took one summer, rooted over winter and lived in a bucket (neglected) outside the garage door, the whole following summer... I think I must baby mine too much... lol Phyllis, the root balls will stay alive in even cooler than 50 degrees, I kept mine at 50 last winter with lights and they stayed green, some even bloomed... If they are well established root balls, big and thick, you could cut them off and they will put out new growth, probably in a few weeks or so in 50 degree temps. (had to grab some lunch)- I'm getting ready to print #10 (still waiting to hear from Mary on #2), but I'm into the 2nd ream of paper...

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Sandy, you lil pouter, grow some "guts" ;) girl, beg!!! One of these days, you will have so many from us hotties and DGer's you'll be overwhelmed with what to do with them all... I'm going to send you whatever I have that got broken off from the wind this morning (or last night) so get your rooting technique figured out ..

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Probably not for long Sandy...
You'll probably get so many babies your gonna say..
What am I to Do with them all...?? LOL
And they do grow fast...

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

I really do sympathize with you SandrO, ;)... we're all yackin about what's blooming, budded, causing us woes, causing us joy, and you don't have any. (((((Sandy))))) I intend to change that and maybe even sooner than we think...

Minneapolis, MN

Minneapolis, MN

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Congrats on the brug, too! A hottie to your rescue! Sweetie Kim, for whom if she hadn't started the "She's about to" thread, there may not have been a DG Hottie thread ((((((((KIM))))))))) She's Her Highness, too! :P(clemen) lol

Minneapolis, MN

OH!! Oh!!! I was out in the back and I heard this loud noice hitting the what ever you called that thing that carries rain...downspout and my fingers are shaking a female goldfinch, I think hit it after it flew into that darn window. Got the dogs in the house and wrapped it in soft cloth. I don't want it to die!!!!!

I am just shaking! Poor Thing, I think it broke its wing.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Sandy, there is a DG forum on birdwatching, maybe they can help you! Poor poor lil finch.. :(

Minneapolis, MN

Wheww! I didn't want it to be left for some predator to get it and I went and was going to put it in a box and she squealed a little trill and flew off. Yay!

STill shaking tho. LOL

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

YAY! (applause) and big smiles.. It's okay now, Sandy... that always upsets me when I hear that "thud"

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Guess you can tell there isn't anything happening in the ofc today... 100 pages of thread 11, going to 12, now. Had to create some new volume covers with new pics and verbage... hope I can find enough binders, it'll be encylopedia size before I get to #21! (specially with all that "horsein' round" on #12 ;) lol

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

The lil country mouse done stopped squeaking... ;- )~

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Hello Hotties! Goodness can we chat!! Bonnie, thanks for moving over the list. I had planned on doing it but not made it back here yet. Let's all watch for everything that everybody has listed and see what we can come up with by Spring. I have seen a lot of them in the marketplace and on trade lists, so I think it would be doable. Sandra, don't worry! You will have sooo many brugs, you will wonder what is going on.

Now, is there anyone else out there who is brugless (and I mean the lurkers, too!) This is the time to let people know because they will be trimming and cutting in preparation for winter.

Now, red brugs. There are red brug seeds for sale in the Marketplace 10 for $5 from Turtlegaby. http://davesgarden.com/products/market/view/2756/

I borrowed the picture.

The red is beautiful, but so is all the other colors I've seen. They are all pretty to me.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just bought 10 seeds, Lets hope they germinate? Now all they need is a blue or purple angel trumpet, and we will all be in heaven!!!
Linda Kay

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Oh, Linda Kay, drat! I just bought 30 and was going to share 1-2 with everyone. Man, you are quick!!!
