peeks in and sneeks a read... the plant i dug up is droopy, not the brug but the purple queen, the lonicera is doing okay tho, so is the crop of hibiscus, the brug is being windwept right now.. i better get off here and check in and catch up later go to my weblink on my profile to see what i have growing..

I see you hotties wanting that red sang brug, I think I've read they don't do well in extreme heat, so you might want to check w/ some of the professionals or seasoned experts about it, or google for more info... just don't want you spending big money on something you won't be happy with. I could be wrong..but seems like I wanted one when I first got into brugs and then decided to try something more apt to endure our summer heat here in KS.

Linda Kay, I sooo know what you mean. I have to really fight with myself when I get over there on the Marketplace. There are so many nice, nice things at good prices, too. I have ordered from several different people on there and always got nice things for the money. I have never felt like anyone on there shortchanged me at all. The seeds are very interesting to me now, going into winter.
What was your one plant, by the way, that you want for spring? You haven't answered yet.
I need to get lilsista (Phyllis) over there to look at all those plumeria seeds. They aren't exactly the ones she wanted but they look very close.

I bought 2 of the reds last fall and they didn't make it thru the winter. I thought about replacing them bit like Bonnie I read somewhere they weren't that hardy, so I blew them off. BUT...if one of you hotties have good luck with one, maybe next year you can give us all starts! LOL
Deb keep your droopy plant damp to overcome the transplant stress. You could trim it back a bit too.
I guess my one plant would have to be the blue hibiscus. But I love any and all of the brugs, especially the doubles, and variegated leafs. I don't have any of them yet!!!

Hey Hotties, I'd be the first to want to prove somebody wrong about plants... ;) (zone pusher, remember?) but I say go for it, I just didn't want someone spending $100 for a tiny plant and not investigating what I'd read about it... maybe that was Clemen, and she went to 5 banks today!!! Suppose Javier won that baby for her? lol It IS a beautious color and form... I wish you all the best with them... OH LAV!!! TONIGHT??? She's BIG and pretty, already! (did you get wind up there last night?) Hope Mel has stood my girls back up or they will be bending again....
Try some superthrive or Vitamin B1 dissolved in a gallon of water... that'll help with transplant shock, too.. Linda Kay, I've got you covered on the variegated brug, I can send a couple cuttings and if the don't make it, I'll try to root one for you next spring... one of my fav's, Maya. yeah wind today. I had to repot two brugs coz the only thing holding them up were the roots in the ground. I put all the budding brugs in a sunny alcove near the deck. Thanks to your gift of Maya I have three brugs with buds now.

So, I see some of you are getting your brugs ready for some trimming huh? I was recently given a baby of Cassie's Curls and she passed away to brug heaven on me :o( She was rooted and everything. I would just LOVE it if any of you have a cutting of her you would be willing to send my way :o)
All my other brugie babies are doing well. I have a total of 6 now!! I've even planted 3 of them in the ground. They were the noids I got on special through an online nursury, but all have taken to the ground really really well.
I also finally got rid of the white flies that were bothering all my babies too. Found out my neighbor had them all over his hibiscus plant too..... so we put our heads together and treated my brugs and his hibiscus at the smae time (with the neem you lovely hotties recommended) and now we are both white flie free!!! Yay!!!
Whelp, guess I'll be back to lurkin......

I just discovered that dear Clemen's birthday is only a few days before mine (June 28) and she is exactly 1 year younger than me! How fun is this? I bought 3 different Plumeria seeds today...
Texas Aggie...10 seeds
Pink Ruffles.. 10 seeds
And a Luc's special mixture.... 25 seeds
Then went to the Plumeria site and read up on how to start from seeds...
It takes 3-5 years for them to mature and bloom...LOL
And growing from seed they most likely won't be true to the momma plant...
Anyone else up for trying too...LOL
Heck i've grown my Brugs for 4 years without a bloom...
This is a piece of cake...LOL

Wolfie, we had big winds in the Flinthills today.. but goody for me, none were broken, just slammed to the ground.. (and sorry for SandrO ;) she'll have to wait until next week or so for cuttings from me)...my DD Melissa had the big ones all back up when I got home... ty I have 2 loaves of banana/walnut bread baking, I wish you all could smell it... it's makes feel comforted and cozy, tonight.
