Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #61
good one crissy..
She's jumping around like a crazy dog! You should see her in the yard. Murphy will be laying there minding his own business chewing on a bone and she will charge across the yard and hit him full force. She then proceeds to bite him around the neck and show her "dominate" female-ness and all along, Murphy is just like la, la, la la. Doesn't phase him at all!
Um, me and a couple of gals here at work believe it's hair color! :)
This message was edited Oct 1, 2008 1:04 PM
He's enjoying her then, best buds right...no after effects from the trip to the vets? guess Jeannine you are almost ready to take the quilting projects out...you bought quite a few kits this spring when shopping with mom did you not?
as for the question,
Wondered if it might be hair color
LOL Too cute! She is a very cute puppy.
ok ok
im off for a coup[le of days to hospital.... geeeez....
i hate that place.. he said if i respond to the meds it would ony be a couple of days...
*grumpy and pouty*
Good, we don't want you to die on us because you're to stubborn to spend a couple of days in the hopital, that no one likes to be in.
You know Betty, neither wrist nor had bothers me very much anymore. I know how to massage and stretch them, plus I get prescription 600mg IB Prophins too. I hardly ever have to take them though. Once you get the pain down to a dull roar and learn how to maintain it, it's easy as pie. There are certain things I won't do because I know it will create a flare-up, like carrying shopping bags and things like that. No biggie anymore
Laura, OMG, so happy you are taking Dr's advice (and ours perhaps-not thrilled because you are sick but thrilled that someone will be watching over you...) the hospital surely will......we'll be praying it will only be for a few days..but do not rush things, if they think you should stay longer please do....
Crissy, same with shoulder pain, know if I wear a heavy coat, carry a shoulder bag I'll pay, so am very cautious..any stress brings it on within the hour...in fact...just thinking, it's been cooler and I've been wearing a sweater and that could be half the problem..
Ok, I have decided I am going to Melbourne Australia sometime in my life. There is a city called Malvern that looks like Malvern, Arkansas but bigger, I have to go!
Maybe Crissy we should all pack our bags...
Hi Everyone!!
OMG, I am so Glad Laura went to Hospital. This way we know she is being well taken care of, mide as well be there with the meds and bed rest.
So I am sorry to not be around, i am swimming in paper at the job front. Literally. LOL, it is awsom. Today though, decided to get off on time! I have oodle of stuff to do here that hasn't been done since I have been working 12 hour days since last week.
The weekend was wonderful. Got a good rest, had good company and my, wonderful Fires. Was chilly but it is Fall...Colors there were just showing.
Carol, Your granddaughters are lovely. My they are getting tall aren't they.
Oh and I like your new wall hanging, very pretty.
Hi Ruby!! Saw you were able to spend time with Emily, that always brings a smile, as iam sure to you as well.
Crissy, I too, have problems with tendenidas (sp) Mine flares with all the work I do. Hadn't had any problems with no work but today it started and IbP works great for me.
Uh, I am really behind, tried staying in the read but today was crunch time! Finished this huge, huge mailing, in record time again! Today Left work just so i could make a post...Tomorrow begins another huge mailing, so I may not be able to post but I am thinking about you all and read when i can...
So I hope you are all well, enjoying the fallish weather lol, and the chores that go with it.
...No word yest about the job, but it is early, lol just the first! So, I am off to do some household chores and watch the Cubs with Steve. Woohoo so far so good!!
Will try and come back in a bit if i don't fall asleep at table lol.
hurrying up to make a few posts and then back to the game!
Smile and hugs to you all.
Judy, quick post here as I yawn..tired...great night, wonders what a couple of pain killers will do...back to the medicine cabinet then off to bed...
If you don't watch it Judy you'll be overtired as well and will be next in line for 'sick'..it's good news you are busy, makes your day go quickly, but bad that you have to work long hours...
My best today, everyone was working on witches tonight and I even got to sit down and paint one along with them...or at least some of it..
My worse...being in so much pain...
Best of my day..of course, our getting Laura to the hospital..do worry about her...
Going to call it a night...
5 of these witches keep guard in my craft room..young girl came tonight, she did a wonderful job on the witch, was glad I had cut out several...share step 2 of their painting...
Hello Everyone!
I've been in 'babyland' for the past week. I was babysitting an 18 month old boy last week so between him and Ella, I've been kept on my toes. I'm so glad I don't babysit full-time - just the odd day (or week) here and there. I enjoy babysitting but it's hard to get some things done that I would like.
Starzz - I love your pictures. I can't believe how much Hayley looks like you in the picture where she's at the beach. It was nice to see your leaves changing too. One thing that I miss with living here is the reds of the maples. We have ash trees that go yellow and mountain ash that go orangey. We also have poplars but they mainly stay green till the fall off. There are other trees too but none of them go that nice bright red like the maples go.
Laura - I'm so glad that you've decided to go to the hospital. I hope that you can feel the love that we have for you. MY SIL has had recurring depression and anxiety a few years now. Over the summer her anxiety has gotten quite bad. She has started to see a doctor who also practises traditional medicine so as part of her treatment she's receiving accupuncture. Apparently the accupunture has really helped her.
Jeannine - Poor Sailor, I hope she doesn't have any more emergencies come up. I keep thinking it would be nice to have a dog. Reading about your trips to the vet (and the bills) has brought me back to reality of pet ownership. Although, there's no vet here to take an animal to anyway.
Well, tomorrow evening is the open house at the school so it will be nice to go to that. I'm babysitting on Friday and Saturday and I'm also going to have a yard sale on Saturday. There are about 8 families who will be renting the parish hall together so there should be quite a crowd. We have so much stuff in our house that I want out. Unfortunately, there isn't a place to donate things here. The health unit has recently started accepting donations of children's clothing but that's about it. I had throwing things in the garbage if it's still good. I find myself repeating "my house is not a landfill" though. Hopefully we'll get rid of a lot of things at the yard sale. We have our hunt break in a couple of weeks to so that will be very nice. It's always the week of Canadian Thanksgiving. I have a bunch of yard work that I want to do before it gets too cold. A lot of times I just take Ella out with me but there are some things I'd like to do without her in the way. Our weekends always seem to be so busy so it will be nice to have a week with Keith home during the day. Now I'm thinking about turkey - I can't wait till Thanksgiving . . mmmmm.
I can hardly keep my eyes open so I guess I'm off to bed now.
Gillian I would have imagined that your colors would have been more spectacular being further north...can imagine having 2 small ones in the house would keep you on your toys but Ella must have enjoyed being the elder of the 2..
Sounds as though the community (or at least 8 of you) having the garage sale should enjoy the social aspect of it ..always fun .. more funner (lol) if you make mega sales..
Am hungry for turkey dinner as well, hard getting everyone for the same day..try to accommodate but doesn't always work out..guess the children are all planning what to be for Halloween? Is it as big of an event up there as it is here?
It will be nice for you to have Keith home for the week won't it..
Well better run, almost time to be rushing off to the city, never know where I'll be meeting Suzanne so have to have everything at the door for when she calls....ahhhh today and 1/2 a day tomorrow then it's a Festival & Craft Show day Sat. and on Sunday I'll be learning a new technique for Christmas Cards....
Talk later, good luck at the sale
Gita, was just wondering if you are still in the garden center or has it closed...because you were away from your regular position, will they give it back to you?
Liz, come out and play, you are often in my thoughts and prayers of course...you have to be the Halloween Queen if ever there was one...as I'm working on my witch I'm thinking how much you'd enjoy her..nope can't have her but I could send you a cut out .. lol...
Ruby how's it going? guess you are ready to put your gardens to bed as well...all those hosta's..do you also cut them down" .. am trying to decide wether I'll do it or not, never have but might do them good right?
Oooops forgot today's impossible question:
Can you put these cheese products in order of their introduction from earliest to most-recent: Cheez Whiz, Velveeta, Kraft Dinner, and processed cheese slices.
hello, only had to have aday of the drip as the fever broke. they let me come home as long as i rest.....
the fever broke last night so fingers crossed.

Betty, your witch is so awesome!
I'm ready to start my gardening also. Dave has a couple of onions coming up, this time I'll try not to overwater them. The last ones had bugs and they were soggy.
So, my dad got a job building these:
http://www.shockwavejets.com
Oh good Larua! I'm glad they got the fever down and you are on the road to recovery. Just take care of yourself and follow dr's orders and you'll be better in no time ☺
Oh yes, good thing that Laura went on to hospital. They will be able to help her there. Crissy, I am like you in that my mind and body are very much intertwined. A month of so ago I woke up and was feeling kind of off, a bit sad and depressed. I wondered to myself where that was coming from. A few days later, I knew. I began showing some other symptoms and it turned out that I had a Urinary Tract Infection. So, I would tell Laura the same thing about feeling depressed sometimes is just a symptom of some physical problem.
Betty, my guess about 6 times in a life is color hair too. The answer I would guess for today is - Cheese slices, cheese wiz, velveeta and then Kraft dinner.
Are there answers somewhere for these? What was answer to 6 times one?
I hope that everyone else is doing well. Yes, autumn is almost here. And yes Betty, John is mainly still planting Iris, transplanting some things that have outgrown their spaces and I spent some time yesterday cutting some things back. We usually let the Hosta die back naturally but some of these we are transplanting, so we will be cutting them back because of easier handling.
I took up all my rose campion stems and stalks yesterday and saved to get seeds from when I have the time. It is one of my favorite things in my garden.
Anyway, good to see you all. Take care until we meet again.
Ruby
Cross posted with you Laura. It is wonderful that you are back at home. Take care and keep us posted.
Ruby
Ruby, do you have a photo of your rose campions? On my trip to Meaford there is a place called Grandma's cookery and outside on the grounds it's the biggest place I've ever seen for hollyhocks, every type, every color and the owner says they grow without care sooo last year I picked a bag full of buds (zillion seeds) put them away for safekeeping and I never found them so will pick another bag...
Oooops going to lunch, Suzanne standing here will get back to you all
My 2 cents; I think the order is:
velveeta, cheese slices, cheese whiz and kraft dinners
Ok, mine is
cheese slices, kraft dinners, cheese whiz, velveeta.
Didn't do mine...
Kraft dinners, velveeta, cheese slices then cheese whiz...
Going to look and see if the answers for yesterday have been posted as yet...
Honest, didn't know the answer yesterday but it is bra size...how would I know that, seems I'm changing mine every few months...lol
Good Afternoon!!
Well, That is real Good laura, glad you are back home. Now, you do exactly as Dr. says, hear us? and LOL, what am I telling you to drink? Oh my Gosh, just Love Bridge over Troubled Water, such a beautiful song...So funny, now that i know what a snook is, got to tell you, I'm the biggest and best of em all. I can cry in half a second over just about anything. Sometimes, you just gotta let the tears come, do you know it is very healthy to cry...LOL, I also have no cwalms about where i cry either, happens so fast got to let roll. Anyway, since you told me what that means, I want to have a t shirt made that says Such a SNOOK! ROFLOL, can't wait to call my kids that, well maybe any kid cause mine don't cry that often...So anyway, I am glad your on the mend...Ok now what is Damper??
Betty, Yessiree, Your Witch is coming along Wonderful. Where are you planning to decorate her? Inside or out. Geesh so hard to beleive it's October already. The colors are just starting here. My ride will be lovely to see. Don't know if I ever told you all, a good portion of the ride is through wooded area. Spectacular in Fall and Spring.
Yep...Yoh, yoh Lizzz, come out and play. LOL, want to know whats up, are you decorating for halloween?? reminds me got to dig out my little hands and candy corn for my desk! LOL, you better start now so you aren't stressed...OMG, you should see my craft table...bet it messier then yours!
Gillian, So nice to see you. I hope you will get the chance to be in your garden having alone time. Will be a nice break for you when Hunting week starts.
Ves, yoohoo where are you? Were you able to get out and finish up...You are having a bit of cold snap huh.
Oh, yeah...Gita, Did you ever get the chance to transplant that King Hibiscus??
Hi Carol, Nice to see some Colors in your trees. Do you leave your garden art out through Winter? like the mirror? I bring in the gnombes and all the windchimes. The mini house will stay out, but I am thinking to change location, just for winter.
Ohoh, What about Jumangi...she is made of clay pots! Have i showed you all?? Liz taught me to make pot person!! Just in case I'll post a picture, Yikes should i bring her in???
LOL lets see...I can't agree with bra size, cuz personally i went from training to size im in now...roflol. Don't change my hair color...Pant size now were talking many different sizes. I say pants.
oops lunch is over...talk to later, enjoy the afternoon.
Meet Jumangi
Judy, Jumangi had better come in for the winter..OMG I look at all the garden art and wonder if it will fit under the back deck, in the shed and think to myself that next year I'll have a door put in under front deck for my summer items, if I need more than that then I've too much...
Can't even imagine where Carol puts all hers..know she's got the playhouse and garage, an area in her basement, but it must be a tremendous amount of work to get everything put away before the snow...
Carol, shouldn't be too long before neighbors are home right?
As for crying, I only cry if I'm totally ANGERED at someone, then I burst into tears because I'm just get so overwhelmed...pet peave, inconsiderate people...my downfall is that I think everyone should treat everyone the same as I do, when they don't treat me with respect, than I'm just devastated....so, should change that, NOT to expect what is given (don't mean pressies girls)..lol
Judy it was the bra size!
Terri, won't get an answer to today's until tomorrow..
My witch will hang on front door and the witches "In" and witches "out"
sign will go on back door...
back to painting santa's
I don't remember the last time I cried. I do remember the reason, PMS!
Oh, Nice to meet you Jumangi!
OMG...Talk about Snooking, I have to tell you I am one PO'd person!!
OK you all know I 've been working non stop 12 hour days, eat through lunches,etc..and blah blah.
So I just two days work in to one to stay ahead of the backed up schedual. OMG the enire mailing is alread being 3 days ahead of what the usual schedual is. This means I am working at record speed...So anyway,I was going to stay and print the next 1500 envelopes when the mgr comes in and looks at the project ready to be stuffed and mail out tomorrow a full day ahead, say oh hahah, this is wrong!! it's got to be done over. I look at her and said this is not funny, well it got to be done over...So I literally chase her to her office. She says well didn't you look at it?? What, I loose it, said I am not suppose to look at it...when it hits me its suppose to be ready to leave the building! No I didn't look at, it was approved by you. Well its wrong, So I said you know I can just cry, and got choked up I said I just squeezed 2 days of work into one, and thats not included with the regual mailing that were due today! I said you know what I am going home I am tired.
Then i think finally hit her at just how angry i am...Doesn't she realize how much time i have worked, Not been with my family, not got my proper rest. She don't see that i am there before hours, work thu lu8nch and stay until 7:30 at night! god I am shaking mad!
Rant over thanks for listening. I am going to enjoy my fire now do some more laundry and cut out my7 Santa Suit! and try , like mad to get over this.
Be back later when i calm down.
Hello everyone..
Nice to hear what you are all doing.
Yes..I leave a lot of things out..and the mirror will be one of them. I have run out of room in the garage for anything big.
All the little statues and signs will come in to the playhouse..wicker rocker inside the garage.
I just took the rocker off the fornt porch and did a littel harvest decoration. This afternoon after swimming, my friend Sheila and I went for a drive in to country to a couple of places..one a farm market to get her some hot and some sweet shepherd peppers to make her hot pepper jelly. She was having trouble findin the hot ones...boy was he happy when she found them! Another place is a great country market with food and decorations and gifts and clothes and etc etc..fabulous place..called White feather Farms.
I found these fall place mats and the little harvest face I put here in my kitchen.
This is the decoration for fall on my front steps..need a few little gourds to jazz it up.
I tried a Sweet Potato squash for dinner tonight..so sweet..lovely little squash..I highly reccommend.
It also is called Delicata squash..as the skin is more delicate than most squash.
I also bought a big cabbage and a turnip...going to make a harvest soup tomorrow.
I made a small batch of apple sauce today..but the apples are very poor this year..fine for cooking..but not for eating fresh.
It was sunny and so beautiful driving in the country today..the leaves changing....I love this time of year. Everything looks so vivid in the gardens as you drive by..
Bye for now,
Cheers,
Carol
Oh..Judy..missed your post there..just read it...all that effort down the drain.
What a bummer..hope you can calm down and relax..
Betty,..my neighbours came home yesterday..it had gotten too damp and rainy up north the last couple of days.
My guess for the question is...
Velveeta, Kraft dinner,..cheese slices..cheese whiz.
Oh Judy that doesn't mean that you won't get the weekend to enjoy up at the cottage does it..what was wrong with the order? Yes, someone else should always check the work not after it's done but before just to make sure it meets the requirement..how truly dreadful..after you've put in so many hours...see, should have taken a break..sure can understand your frustration....
Crissy, PMS isn't it grand....lol
Laura, did you fight to come out of the hospital after 1 day or did they feel you'd rest better at home? sure hope it wasn't the first...has your fever broken...
Madening, new guy Jim at the office has been sick with a bad cold since he started, today both Cindy and LeeAnn had a sore throat, Suzanne was in and out of the washroom and felt she was coming down with something...sure wish he didn't come to work ill, possibly all will have it next week...
Carol, love the new placemats and front step decorations..bet you are eating harvest soup tonight aren't you....have to agree, while Suzanne is driving I get to look at all the trees dressed in their fall color..dying off quickly though...
Lond ride home, wouldn't you know it, 2 accidents tonight at different locations...makes for a long day considering we've been starting work at 8am...I drive in myself tomorrow so guess who is not starting until 9...off at one..thought though if I left early I might get some shopping done before starting work..just need some sneakers for the weekend..bet you can all show me your sneakers that gardening has put the kibosh too...need comfy shoes for walking this Saturday...Judy learnt my lesson from visit in Chicago..need good walking shoes..buy them now or later...lol
Carol, love the camping in the rv but when it rains as much as it has, not much fun...rained in the city off and on today, left this morning and it was raining here as was it when I drove into town, but I see my grass is all nicely cut, Kathy was here again...bless her soul..looks awfully pretty...
You are making me hungry to applesauce Carol..going to meaford and all the apple orchards are there, of course YOU live in an orchard, how wonderful, so I'll see what kind of apples they have and purchase some as a treat for eating and some for applesauce and pies...
Best go up, have a hot bath, make a sandwhich then take a pain killer, refrained from doing so today as they are quite potent and I had to drive home from Hillsdale, no sense taking a chance... then maybe I'll prop myself up in bed, get all those lovely pattern books hoping to find projects of interest and just know before I've looked at 2 pages I'll be sound asleep...but that's ok..busy/busy weekend ahead...
Reminds me, need supplies for Sunday course, had a list but don't know where I've put it, must get things together for tomorrow so I'm not rushing on Sunday...
Forgot to say goodnight...
Best thing that happened to me today..grass got cut
Worse thing that happened today...no fun working in pain
What did I learn, can't take photo's of candles burning...doesn't show the beauty...
Must not fall asleep with all the candles burning ...made the fireplace, wish it's beauty would show up in photo, feel warm, safe and cozy as I say goodnight to you all!
Lord willing, we'll talk tomorrow...
Betty,..and all...
I don't know if you have ever tried a Honeycrisp apple..but they are very good..a newer variety. More expensive than most other varieties. Up the road at the market near me they were selling them for $4.50 for 7 apples..
Have a ball in Meaford..I know you are looking forward to it...and for goodness sakes..get some good walking shoes!..LOL..didn't you buy some in Chicago?..or were they not so good..just a stop gap?
I swear by SAS shoes..pricey..but they last for years and your feet never hurt..I buy the model called Freetime..
fabulous shoes for comfort and support.
Nite nite all
Thank you Carol and Betty.
Sending good vibes and a wink to seal it,
Good night.
..Armwrap too!..To all.
:)
OH! A busy day I had today! Wore me out! My knees were killing me!
It is now getting really cool and this morning was close to nasty--with a strong, cold wind blowing. So, I had a few hours before I had to go to work and used them to bring ALLLL my plants inside! The only ones still outside are my 6 pots of Amaryllis and all my X-Mas cactus. I will leave those out until it gets really cold--but not freezing. It helps them set buds.
By the time I bring the X-cactus in, they will all have multiple flower buds at the tips of their leaves. Then, in the warmer house, they will be in full bloom in no time flat!
All the running in and out and up and down the steps really did me in. But--I kept telling myself that this all HAD TO be done and kept plugging away.
Since I kind of know where I am going to put every plant inside--it went better than if I had to try and find a place. Now, once again, my house is a JUNGLE!!!!
Then I took 4 cuttings to root of my 2 Brugmansias. They are just SO large that I am not sure if I will be able to fit them in my basement. I will try--but I will cut them back---making sure I do not cut back below the "Y"....(Brug talk---).
Got them in 2 bubbler bottles---keeping my fingers crossed!
Then--at 4PM, I went to work.....Full day!
OK! Read all the latest Posts, but did not have time to reply. Here goes....
Betty--
I only worked in the garden center during the Spring/early Summer gardening "rush". I was NOT scheduled to do so, but did it as a favor to my store manager. He sees the potential in me and wanted me out there. It was working an extra (fourth) day for me, but it sure felt good. I normally work 3 days a week---Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.
I stopped working out there mid-June as I was soon going on my trip to Latvia. I am sure he will ask me again this coming Spring.
Also----You were askinf about cutting back Hostas. The foliage is usually all yellowed by now, so cutting it back is a good idea. Not just for aesthetic reasons, but also not to have rotting foliage laying on the beds as it is "fertile ground" for insects and bugs and fungi to make a home. I like to put my garden to sleep for the Winter in as clean a form as I can. Helps a lot, also, in the Spring if you do not have to waste time raking up dead leaves and cutting back old perennial foliage. CLEAN rules!!!!!
Judy,
Yes! My big transplanting of my Kopper King Hibiscus is all done.
Please go to the Mid Atlantic Forum and open the "Fall and Cleaning up Your Garden--What are You doing" Post to see photos of the process......and, the end result.
Kind of towards the bottom.....
