Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #61

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Hello Betty,
I am back home..
been out since early morinng..
Few errands to do first..then pick up my friend Sheila..go to Dr. appt. for me..and then to Can Tire to get her car..still not ready..so we went shopping at a couple of places..odds and ends..new mat for the front door..few groceries..socks..etc..
Left her still waiting in Oshawa at Can Tire..and drove back to Bowmanville..looking for a long ultra suede covered bench with a flip top. no luck so far..the one they had at Can Tire last week is all sold out....but found a wall decoration..and a black wrought iron Coffee sign to put on the wall over my coffee station in the kitchen. Stopped at my daughter's and dropped off the girls health cards that I still had from the weekend..just caught her as she was leaving for afternoon shift at work.
Was starving when I got home..had some leftovers..and so it goes........

Pictures will follow.

I was getting awfully lonely Carol, gloomy day getting to me I guess...missed my 'friends'...sure did...

My favorite place to shop, Canadian Tire then second Home Depot...

here are my purchases today..
Haven't hung the Coffee sign yet...the metal wall decoration is hung up in the living room.

Love it Carol, nice touch to the wall coloring...now where did you say you purchased it, Canadian Tire, surely not, must be an aisle that I don't get to? Oh yes, I'm always in the tool department...great purchases...adding these type of decorations really add to the ambiance doesn't it...just adding the big mirror I got from Melanie last week adds a bit more charm to the bedroom...

Keep thinking about having Michelle come over and stage my house to make it 'french country' then I think what would I do if I didn't like it, would offend her for sure....would love to be brave when it comes to decorating and color...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Wow, I fell way behind here! Lost my rear in Shreveport, Louisiana. Oh well, my pants were too tight anyway! I sure do miss the slots that drop coins in the metal trays, the money receipts and computerized money sounds are not the same thing.

I've been to the Grand Ole Opry 3 times, all in the mid 80's when those country singers were popular, and some were still alive. I miss those days.

Very cute grand daughters and puppies! I'm glad everyone is well again.

I'm going to bed, still tired from the weekend trip and all. See ya tomorrow!

Christine

Crissy you are too funny...no worry that I'd lose my pants at a casino..I'm a spend thrift but want to see something for my money..my mom on the othe hand, she's a casino buff...said she won 3 jackpots on Friday night...always winning, but, doesn't tell us how much she spent to win those jackpots....hate to know..there goes my inheritance right....

Raining this morning, can't talk Sailor into going outside...will have to bribe her with a weiner...cats on the otherhand were waiting at the door..

Was in bed just after 7:30 last night, tried to stay awake to watch a few shows but drifted in and out of sleep, phone rang a few times..toss/turned...

Driving to the city myself today, Suzanne seeing a specialist so I'll try to venture out an hour earlier...take my time and not worry about the car racers on the highway...

Good Morning!

No school school for kids today, So I up and ready to start the day early.
Worked till 7 last night. Will be another long one today.
So I have been reading while I work.

Today, I decided I won't work through lunch so I can come and have a proper chat.

OK, better get rolling, have a grand day..
careful in your travels.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You need lunch Judy, don't skip it..not good for you...
Left this morning at 6:30 thought it would give me 1 hr. to go to Walmart super store to unwind before I start my day...however, traffic was bumper to bumper and I just got into the office..

Order of toast and a coffee ended up being my special treat...

At 5:30 last night a message was left by the Doctor's office (left a nasty message yesterday)every time I call I get an answering machine, which is ok, know they are busy, but it continues to say, if I leave a message for any other reason except to cancel an appointment it will be erased...long story short, it worked, said they cannot give me any details over the telephone, I must make see Dr. Walc on October 8th at 2:30..so, will come in for the am and leave at 1:00...that's my good news for the day...

Carol, so glad the search and rescue found the 2 young boys who went missing in your region...sad to say, another drunk driver took the life of a cab driver this morning, speeding and agressive driving...when will people learn NOT to drink and drive...

Yesterday Suzanne and I went for Chinese food and I recognized 3 young ladies from another floor in my building..they were gabbing about their weekend, one of the younger ones said she had spoken to the police and they said that if you have but 1 drink each hour you'd never be drunk...hello there, I don't drink...if I was to have 3 drinks I'd be plastered, probably sleeping after 2, so am sure with some it works but with others not...

Pouring all the way in, dull/dull..think I might take a drive to Michaels at lunch as I've my own vehicle and need to be looking for a particular stencil...

In a hurry this morning and forgot my pain meds, not that I can drive with taking them but could have taken 1 when I got here...muscles in shoulders are still in spasms...boy does that hurt..going to bed at 7:30 just didn't help..thought if I was laying down it might take the pressure off...oh well..I'll survive won't I???

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

lol no kidding Betty. She won $150.00 and said she wasn't ahead, my goodness. I like to gamble but only for a few hours, then I want to go shopping and dinner if I'm ahead. One time I won a $550.00 jackpot on a slot, I cashed out and left, my money is going home with me! Had a nice dinner too!

You need a massage to loosen those muscles up. You know, Murphy's Law has hold of me. Ever since I closed the claim from my wreck I have been as stiff as a board, before I closed it I felt great! What happened? Oh, I've felt this way ever since I dreamed about being at a Rod Stewart concert. Yes I'm not only talking to myself, I'm answering myself too!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had an accident years ago, in fact spent 1 year hardly able to hold my head up, can remember laying on the bed with hands and head hanging off the side to take pressure off..did everything, pain clinic, physio etc...doctor's say that the casing is off the nerve..can't wear a heavy coat/sweater, anything on my shoulder or I'm in severe pain, will always be like that I guess...notice if I am under any amount of stress I'm in major trouble...

Lightining and thundering out there, calling for same all week...

Oh Laura, I'm so sorry that you are going through such difficult times, and yes, we do want you to tell us so we can offer support, not just a playful thread I would hope but one that we can be there to hear your problems and offer you love, guidance and support... you've been ill for so long, one illness coming after the other that you've not had time to recoup properly..you carry the problems of the entire universe on your shoulders at times...please wipe the tears and know we are here...deep breath now, know it's you night time and you need to get some sleep...DH will realize what he has done in the morning and will take over some of the duties I'm sure...

Most likely your argument with dear husband results from you being so tired and ill...when someone is sick such as you've been they do need the other half to pull their weight at home..if not, just leave it..it can always be done another day..

Surely Laura you are not working being as run down and ill as you are???? You should be home in bed, tucked in and cared for...wish we lived closer...if you do go to work, are they not seeing just how ill you are and won't they send you home??? know financially you want to be working but your health is just so much more important at this time...

Sending you hugs and prayers...
And DOOOOO keep posting..you need some friends....

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Betty I think Laura is in a no win situation. She needs to be home for her health but if she doesn't work there is not the extra paycheck. then she would possibly be out of a place to live.

Most employers don't care about the employes as we are all replaceable! Sad fact but true! You and some others are so lucky where you work.

If her DH isn't helping at home he needs to even if it is just washing the dishes or vacumning or a load of clothes. Every little bit will help and make her feel loved and cared for!

My DH just had 10 teeth pulled last thurs. Sat. on his own was out riding the mower mowing the lawn. I was at work so didn't know until I got home. He has been doing a little everyday and went back to work today. He even pulled up my tomato plants for me. Washed his own work clothes. There is more but I can't remember right now.

Laura hugs to you and I hope it all works out for you.

Glenview, IL

Aw Laura...I am so sorry that you are so ill again.

Yes, I agree, you need to come and talk things through. We can and will help you through. Send warm and gentle hugs your way. Just know WE do care.
You can't hold all that in it is not good. So, I am glad you came to have a little chat.
What the heck is a snook?? Whatever its meaning doesn't sound to nice.
Please don't put yourself down. You know, geesh you have been home for so long, that you are highly suseptible to catching airborn infections. your body has to reimmune itself to other air. (geesh i hope that makes sence) So you need to drink lots of water. LOL ask Shar, I will remind you every hour if I have to. Get lots of sleep, Need to get some antibiotics sweetie to kill that infection. Drink Lots of juice too add Vitamin C...Now go lie down snuggle warm in the Wonder hug and rest for now. Things will clear up with DH. just think of it this way, more room for you in the Bed and he won't get sick too.
Meantime, sending prayers for you to Get well Quick...and I'll humm you a lullaby too. Drink some water and go back to bed and SLEEP for a while.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh Laura Hugs!! Men can be so brutal at times, if it doesn't get done it's not going to hurt anything or anyone, and nine times out of 10 they see that it's not getting done and just do it themselves.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sad isn't it when someone has to work when ill..Vicki how lucky you are that DH is always there to help you out...had the same..

Guess working for a relative helps, their knowing each ones circumstances..not always so though in the workplace...some are uncarring...

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Yes Betty even tho he can drive me crazy half the time I am lucky! Not so when we were younger but as we get older we do improve and grow up!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Always a chance of that...Roger wouldn't clean in the house but he'd do all the cooking and all outside work..just din't ask him to do dishes...except when I was ill he made sure that I had someone come in each day to do things I thought had to be done..but then with 2 good incomes we could do those things..guess he would have pitched in..sometimes they just have to be reminded that we are human and only can do so much...

Always a catch 22 isn't there...don't work no pay, work and get deathly ill and end up with double the time off for recouping...

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Always a catch 22! Just depends on if we can figure a way around it or to deal with it!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Life is something isn't it...hard to keep an upper lip sometimes..
Some days are difficult..clients coming in, losing their homes, businesses, families (due to financial situation) some without homes, no food and I have to give them hope that there is a better tomorrow, watch them cry, no hope... through the services we offer much of the time we can help and give them hope but sometimes we just know even through helping the situation just won't get much better...guess that's why some days I'm in bed by 7:30 ..just too much to think about...then there are days when they come back in for counselling and they are on top of the world, their financial problems behind then, some reconcile and those days you just want to sing...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

You know Betty, you're right.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Paul told me to get out of here...hwy 400 north closed due to accident..so should get home about same time considering the detour of traffic...

talk later

Victoria Harbour, ON

traffic was heavy but home 1/2 hr. earlier is still better than later right? OMG the look of fall is here, leaves on the ground, damp, you can just feel it...looks pretty in its own right though..

Off to put my grubs on, have some cutting to do, those witch feet and arms need bodies and heads....tomorrow is my painting class so better get at it..girls need their projects cut..shouldn't take more than 1 hr. to get everything cut out...
got to make that new saw earn it's keep...lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Calling it a night girls, guess you are all busy/busy...

Hungry, haven't eaten as yet..got my body parts cut out, even took the time to basecoat much of it black so they'll be ahead of the game...they keep thinking they've plenty of time but lordy Halloween is only about 4 more lessons...

Know it will be appreciated and less mess tomorrow night..know I'll be needing clean tablecloths...lol

Witch will be about 4' high...sexy little witch at that..

Morning...Laura, you have to get better honey to see things clearly when you are ill is not a good time to make life conclusions or changes....

Has your doctor told you that you need complete bedrest for some time..could they not put you into the hospital where you are properly cared for and that way you don't see the chores you think you must do???

You must put yourself first, don't worry about housework, work (know you must but it still has to come secondary to your health)!

How sad that you don't have someone close by to help out or to even give you a hug and tuck you into bed...you get that magic coat of yours which was filled with love and hugs, put it over you as you try to sleep...and you'll feel our prescence and love....

Hoping as you go to bed tonight that you are able to relax enough to get some much needed sleep...

We love you...take care

Crozet, VA

Awwww Laura - So sorry to hear that you are ill. That is a lot to contend with at one time. Yes, take all of the antibiotic, rest, sleep, lots of fluids and vitamin C. Let the housework go. It will be waiting for you when you feel better.

I know very well that when I am ill that I am not fit to be around people. I am quite short with my answers and just prefer to be somewhere that I don't have to interact with people. I have also been so attuned to my mind and body that I sometimes know I will be getting sick because I always feel a wave of depression wash over me even before showing any physical symptoms.

So, take care Laura and get well soon.

Hi to Betty, Judy and all others.

Ruby

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

hi,

yep i see what your saying betty. i try but i just dont have anything left in me right now. just breathing in and out. i have ne of my coats on 24/7 just for that reason. i feel very alone at times... but what can u do. i miss my family but they have their lives, ( my kids that is)

i read your posts every day to cheer myself.

i have a lot of pain in my back with the lungs. went to the doc today and said no to hopital.. wont go... hate it.

struggling with the depression at the moment but still on the meds so shoul;d co0me good.

thanks for thinking of me...

love.. she who is falling apart lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Laura, you really should go for a few days, that's what you need, routine of care/meds and rest without worrying about anything..you still have not said, are you working with being so ill?

Depression, is there any one of us who have not suffered from this illness in some way or another? If you haven't, you've been blessed...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Laura I think you should go too. No one likes the hospital, at least I don't know anyone who does, but it's worth getting better than being at home suffering and not getting better. I think that if you started to feel better your depression would diminish. I've been through this one, I think the depression and the illness goes hand in hand. It sounds like you have pneumonia to me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

See Laura, we've all voted and those not here to vote have done so by proxy, call your doctor and say "I'm ready for the comfy bed" come on, do it for us...do you think they have internet connection???lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I know this has nothing to do with pneumonia, but it has a lot to do with depression. I used to work for a wireless company in the call center and got tendonitis in my right thumb. Let me tell ya, I couldn't hold a spoon, grip my steering wheel, carry anything cause I couldn't close my hand, so I went out on workers comp and of course they were having someone sit down the street from my house watching me and I couldn't do anything. I lived alone and owned my own house so I had to take care of the lawns and everything. One morning I woke up and thought, "Why get up cause you can't do anything anyway. I bet if I just laid here for days no one would notice." which isn't true at all, of course, and I realized at that point I had a depression issue. I got my rear out of bed that very instant, called the dr. and over time got my hand better, but it was painful and miserable, especially when they decided to give me shots of steroids in the tendon right below my thumb and stretching and exercise. Tendonitis won't heal and there isn't a surgery that will get rid of it so I pretty much have to live with it, but going through the pain and learning how to deal with it is a much better option than laying there suffering. I have it in my left wrist now too, where my watch sits.

I also have asthma and get pneumonia and bronchitis about 4 times a year and it is very, very dangerous if it goes untreated.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow Crissy do they really sit and watch you when you are on compensation...many in my family (brothers'sister) have asthma/bronchitis and pneumonia and not a nice thing to have..least bit of cold you have its pneumonia...I did have asthma as a child, but am A-ok, brother had it where he was always in hospital..he moved up north, different climate and no more problems...

Ouch, that must hurt terribly, do you have difficulties using it..take meds?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Let's have a bit of fun, on another site I belong to they have each day impossible question...

Survey says that this will change 6 times in a womans life.... what do you think it is....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bra size?
