How tall will he be? I couldn't get it to enlarge for me, so I really can't tell much about it.

Thank you so much for the nap directions!!

I have one question... On the sleeves...should the nap run down the arm toward the fingertips? or around the arm? asking cause if the cutout for the sleeve is 18" x 10" the 10" is around and the 18" is length from shoulder to fingers?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

the 18 is the length from the shoulders to the fingers the 10 is around
as to the direction of the nap .....it has always been my understand in sewing clothes that the nap runs down the arm in the same direction as the rest of the outfit ...... since this is a craft and depending on how much fabric you have if you can do it so it goes the same as the robe that would be good but if not then do it so it goes around so when you rub it it goes front to back (if that makes sense)..that is how I would do it but that is just me

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Okay, so here is my stupid question for the day... (Yeah, I know I am starting early...) How much postage does it take to send an envelope to Canada?

Thanks.

Victoria Harbour, ON

No idea on postage..probably same as USA...and yes, good answer Mibus2, it all depends on how much fabric you have, you should be able to cut it all from the same direction..but believe me with so much going on i.e. decorations etc. and his size, wouldn't really make that much difference unless of course you are a perfectionist...lol...

As for size, he's probably 22" when all is said and done...

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

One more question (and I am sure that it says it somewhere), but are checks okay or would you prefer a money order?

Victoria Harbour, ON

However you want to send it is ok with me...so glad you are all so helpful..everything's under control so I'll just go back here in the office to painting another 1/2 dozen faces...

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Helpful drawing, Phyllis! Thanks for posting it.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

hey not a problem at all glad it helped I know things can be confusing without a set pattern glad I could help y'all out

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Check went out today!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Ok, more stupid ?'1 Is the short side of the "dress" going around, or up and down?
Also the "shawl"? If I can get that right, then I'll know how to do it!!

The 18" is the dress length,..the shawl is not a shoulder shawl, it's the head cape...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Audrey, sew the 18 inch seams together and that will be the back of the garment. The 18 inch seam goes from the neck to the hem.
So sew the short sides together for the seams, not the long sides.

You guys are right on the ball...lol...nice to have sewers..

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks! I'm used to having pattern pieces that tell you which way to lay them!! I think I got iy now!

Victoria Harbour, ON

What's the worse that can happen, santa's outfit got a little fluffed in one direction ..not to worry,he'll be gorgeous..

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

lol, well maybe I'll 'practice' on the one I'm sending to mom first! I AM a bit of a perfectionist! LOL! so by the time I do my santa...I can do it perfectly!

now I just need to decide if I want mine to have cream colored fur or carmel colored fur! LOL!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

AnjL, the fur will be beautiful. Can't wait to see yours.

Remember girls these works of art are suppose to be fun, a project that someone never doing crafts can achieve..it's simplified, simplified....look forward to seeing your creations...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I finally got mine pinned on. I'll get it cut out today.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Wish payday would hurry so I can play too!!!! Everything I am seeing so far looks great...there are going to be some really beautiful Santas showing up this year!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

That there will...getting anxious..almost done painting all your 'santa faces'...then start the 3 next workshop santa's...better trek on...time has a way of running away on you doesn't it..before you know it..we'll be hearing jingle bells..actually I did a few weeks ago when I turned on the random christmas music unit ...got a few glances from neighbors...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Got it cut out! Now I've lost my good scissors! I'll find them, though!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

LOL Audrey you almost sound like me at one time always misplacing them I thought ........... then I got a good pair and hide them where only I know to look so Dh and anyone else can't use them for cutting anything and everything LOL

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

teehee.. I havent sewn in so long that my 'good scissors' became my gardening scissors!
I think I need to go buy another pair! LOL!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I went out a few weeks ago, and invested in a cutting board and the cutter, and the rulers! Oh my, what a God send that is! I love my cutter!
LK

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

LK, did you get a rotary cutter? I just got one last year. It's so fun I was looking for things to cut! lol!

Victoria Harbour, ON

great when doing strip quilting..

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

..... on my list of things 'to do', Betty! lol!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't do much quilting lately, saving it for my old age..lol..do have a cross stitch quilt top to quilt or get quilted ..have to get ontop of that project....still have about 4 more quilted sweaters to finish, got one done for me this fall, should get the others done and give them away as Christmas gifts..now there is a thought..

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

quilted sweaters? that sounds interesting. do you have any photos?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I did get the rotary cutter, and I love it. It is made by fiskars. Very nice. Well worth the investment ladies, if you don't have one already. I don't know how I did all that sewing for all those years, with out a rotary cutter.

Somewhere on the threads I had started to show step by step but then no one was interested I don't think and I gave up..will go in search..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I would like to see the quilted sweater also, Sounds nice and cozy!
LK

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, that looks so nice and warm, but I don't knit. Can it be done with a purchased sweater, or even on a sweat shirt?
LK

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

That is beautiful, Betty, but I don't knit either. Way out of my league! lol!

Victoria Harbour, ON

probably with a sweatshirt...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Welcome to the world of rotary cutters LK and Debra. Let the fun begin!! Gonna make addicts of the 2 of you yet!!! I haven't done a sweater but did do a vest with quilted sections (flying geese) on it. If I can find the pattern again I will share.

Ladies, you have to understand when I moved 3 years ago I had lots of help. I have no clue where alot of my sewing/quilting things were put. Boxes are just labeled "books" not very informative. It is still a "seek and find" situation and since I don't have the bookshelves up in my sewing room I haven't unpacked alot of the boxes. Hang with me and I will gladly share/give you things I don't use anymore. How is that?

Betty, the sweater is lovely but unfortunately I don't knit either. One of those things I have wanted to learn but haven't so far.

Boy that was way of the track of Santas, wasn't it?
