Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

tia, do you think she'd be ok with the other babies. they are about 10 days old

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I would think so, she needs the warmth and the comfy of other birds. You can try and if they are mean to her then take her out. Have you given her her egg yolks yet. Boiled that is.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Kathy, put her in with them and watch for a few min. She just wants to cuddle like she would do with a mama hen. They need to be warm! Your so lucky!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

she didn't want the egg. she has eaten a little chick starter and drank some water

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

try it and see, give the other ones the egg also.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ok silly question but why are you giving her boiled egg yolks???...is it kinda along the lines of breast feeding a baby? LOL

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

the egg yolk is pure protein and gives them a good boost on life.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, Marion... somehow, someway... I managed to get your ailment through the fiber optics... I'm on liquids right now... *sigh*... change of weather, I guess.

Jaye... I got all the attention any little girl would ever want, and I was still a hellion, and never became a rocket scientist either...

Kathy... I hope that chick is a male, so he'll look just like his daddy... that's just one beautiful rooster. Wally is my favorite ... and you call him a yard dog, he should have a complex by now.

Going back to bed... see ya'll later.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Not you BJ! Be well my sistah. Yah, it's getting a lil cooler.. like in the low 80's and it's affecting my sinus. Nope... closest thing to being a scientist, is all that experimenting in the kitchen. After all, cooking is chemistry ;)
Phyllis, that bag idea is neat. So, I could do one the night before and just get Kel to fix it in the mornings. So easy.

If that chick eat some cooked yolk, wouldn't it be cannabilism?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yea, the weather is getting cooler here too, and I can really tell my joints are aching so bad. Had dr. appt. this a.m. and she gave me some vicodin to get thru the colds days. I can always tell when it's getting ready to, rain just form my aching body. I dread winter ugh!! I will be spending alot more time in the hot tub for sure.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

BJ I am so sorry!! That is really the pits and do take care of yourself. Did I give it to you over the phone? LOL I really don't mean to laugh as I know how you are feeling. Had an idea something was wrong when I hadn't seen you post very much.

I have never heard of giving it egg yolk either but it has been ages since I lived on the farm. Hope the baby is doing okay.

Jaye, yeap cooking is chemistry for sure!! Sometimes it even blows up in your face!! I am getting off easy tonight--DD just emailed me she is wants beenie weenies tonight. I haven't made those in years. Hummm could be the cooler weather starting her thinking of comfort food when she was younger and Dad was away traveling. Oh well who am I to complain.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Say, Robin, where are you in Mo.? I am from St. Louis originally and still have a daughter and Dad (100 yrs. Old!) living there. Sounds like you are my kind of cook. Would love to come and eat some of your cooking sometime when in the area if you are nearby.
My son (Fairy1004's) DH is the cook and am I a sad eater since he is married and gone. It was so nice to come home from work and have food ready or done.
Thanks for the recipe; while I don't usually like to eat zuccini I love it in things.

One of us lost chicks and another has a new-born. Isn't that life, the circle just keeps going.

Puppy, puppy...did someone say puppy?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hiya Janice! We all want to be Robin's neighbour!
Oh yes Marion, sometimes food does blow up in your face, and I'm sure you're not talking of hot grease neither!! Once I had chestnuts roasting in the oven, and all of a sudden there were like loud popping noises, as though a machine gun had went off (Don't know how machine gun sound..) I had chestnuts all over the oven, and a couple "blew up" in my face!!
Had forgotten to make slits on the chestnuts before roasting them!
Sistahs, new room next door.
Making sure Bon, Laura and Trisha are aware.. oops, both Kims too.. new room >>>>>>>>>>>> http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/903804/

Marion....did you choose a theme for the Spring show? If you've already said, I apologize I missed it.

Raleigh, NC

oh me - Jaye, lady, you getting any of this nice soaking rain? not hard, not light, just right.

got some sleep, but not good yet. I'm calling doc, this is too long for one bad head. I think my new thyroid meds are the cause. Not sleeping well too.

Marion, glad you're taking on fuel.

Did I hear there was a chick?

I have one and only one credit card, and it's got a $1000 limit - my choice, for online purchasing, gas pumps, one automated bill (requried) and emergenices. Pay it off every month. Believe it or not, I also divested myself of my ATM card in 2004. It's amazing the $$ that STAYS in my bank, doesnt get spent, because of that. I do the old fashioned way - without, until I can go to the bank, which is five minutes from home. Have a budget, stick to it. Only things I've got on credit are my new old truck (no new cars, ever) and the house. My only vice is plants, have a budget for that too. (Hence I flipped out when IRS came knocking.) Use coupons, especially for meals out. We used to be persons of "high net worth" but no longer, so I hauled out all the tricks I learned as a broke single mom. There was a time that I managed $4 million a year, successfully. But before that, I fed, clothed, decently housed, and doctored two children and myself, starting on what fit into a honda and $80, with $1000 a month attorneys fees, trying to get divorced. We put what we could grab in that Honda and moved $3000 miles away, which kept me safely alive. So when it comes to being beyond broke, hounded by IRS or lawyers, and losing it all, been there, done that, it can be survived. The only thing that matters is that loved ones are safe. Always put that first.

with this economy, i'm seriously thinking about pulling my money out of the banks!

oy vay - going back to lay down

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Bj, I'm sorry you're sick, sweetie. Take care.

Raleigh, NC

nope- I misread - thought someone needed a pick me up for financial woes.

well, we did put what we could grab in a Honda and left, never to go back. Dad said later, when the dust settled, "treat it like a fire". Amazing what you pine over later. First thing that's very hard to replace is your family photos. I took about 60% still photos and was required by the judge to have them copied for ex. He had all the videos and 40% of the still photos, but when the judge ordered then copied, his attorney informed the judge they were lost and could not be located. so those were lost. Today I have tons more!

Left behind the christmas ornament collection I started at age 13, including some Nana gave me. Was told it was in "storage" for me - not. Randall knew this, asked me to set aside a budget for shopping after Christmas specials so I could buy enough so I would never regret their loss - but we still have very very special ones, made by folks in two former churches where I'd played the organ in Idaho and WA, my Women's Bible Study Fellowship class, and the singles group at our new church, to put on our first trees in NC.

By God's grace, my parents were visiting. Mom thought to grab a lot of my sheet music, I didn't. Instead, I was grabbing things to keep children entertained on a long trip! She's the one that grabbed the photos. we couldn't take the piano and organ. Both were put in storage, but they were damaged first. but we still have that old piano.

Plants got left behind. Big rose garden. oddly enough, I didn't pine over their loss. Plants are easy to replace, there's always something new, too.

Lost my recipe collection, started in Home Ec in 7th grade. I think I got a 1" paper stack of ones I'd thrown away - in fact, I think I did throw them away the day before we left. Friends provided xeroxs of church cookbooks. Mom, it turned out, had grabbed 3 as we left. Compliments of used book stores and Randall, my collection is massive today.

The kids missed their guinea pig - that was very easy to replace! DD didn't take her glasses with her, and we couldn't get those back, either. Mom paid for new ones, but the eye doctor used the health insurance ordered for ex to provide, and his poor office manager had a very nasty phone call from ex for them using it.

so, I'd take old faithful larger pets, and family, and family photos, eyeglasses, medications, and health insurance cards. That's what I'd take - although those crayons and coloring books and that now- much hated as I drove across country listening to it over and over- the Chipmunks tape - sure came in handy and made life pleasant. Think I'd try to bring my family bible, now we have a new one, and the latest book i was reading, to pass the time waiting. and my laptop and Randall's computer, which is his livelihood. I'd bring my thumbdrive with it's only copy of my iris bed "seating chart" - if I knew where it WAS?!!!

Of course, my camera fits in a shirt pocket. I've learned it helps to have images of what was damaged, before and after photos. I have a cool photo of our mobile home down at Hampstead, overlooking Intercoastal water way after Hurrican Fran. It almost looks untouched. there's this pristine, untorn white window shade hanging on the window in the photo. But if you look closer, that's not a door open - the door is gone. and there's no window either - the shade has rolled down and it hanging on the outside. you look down the length of the trailor, all the other windows are gone. From another vantage, we took photos of the 7 mature pines that came down breaching the roof on both end bedrooms and into the living room. The looters took all the appliances. On the other side, I have a photo of where the wind peeled the siding back like a lid on a can of sardines. the lack of power, heat, moisture and mold in the aftermath did the rest. it was totaled.

I'm so sorry - this is too long. I'm not thinking well.

Hugggs Bon.
When I first came here to join my ex.. I left everything behind in Singapore.
Then when I found Kel, once again, I left it all behind. This time 25 years of history and accumulated stuffs, even the property. Don't want anything that will remind me of 'him'. Just my cat, Rimau and I made that long trip.
I have everything I want in this house. No regrets. Make new memories as someone said. Funny thing is, my ex came over a few years back and returned some of my 'stuffs' back to me and our old dog Ali. We're the 'bestest' of friends now and he's flying over next month.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

There is a new room ladies, scroll up for the link please

Raleigh, NC

the dog still lives???? wow.

yup. it feels funny - odd - recounting the stories- but some of our "sistahs" are younger and can use the knowledge, sometimes of what not to do! that's why I tried to put in what's "today" as well, because you can lose it all and end up years later regretting nothing. I'm married to the love of my life 17+ years now.

would to God ex could have been a friend. it was not to be. many have said, "he acts like you're still married!" Randall thought my family's description of him was "sour grapes" until they met. When ex left the room, Randall turned to me and said, "that man hates the ground you stand on."

His 2nd ex, the one he moved in the instant I left, divorced and took it all away from him 10 years later. After, that is, she got a 5 year restraining order! I kinda liked the idea of 3,000 miles better. Last time I saw him was 2004, and he had not changed toward me.

Hallelujah- His ways are mysterious to us! And all things work to His Glory! Hallelujah!

I have two wonderful grown kids, with me here in Raleigh, so, it wasn't all a waste.

Raleigh, NC

ah - I've missed a new room!
