Well I'm here just for a few to check and make sure I work tomorrow...only one school is closed due to no power so I do work. *sigh* kinda hoped for a day off LOL

did some straightening g up outside today brought he citrus trees, plumerias and my glory bower out of the shed and reset some plants that leaned over from the storm.
Then sat my fanny down and worked on squares the rest of the day...only about 30 more to go and they will all be ready to start placing together I think.

We're here!!!! Laura has been over here all afternoon so we could work on finishing up some other swap items.....we may get them finished up tomorrow I hope!!!!

Laura says the 2009 swap is supposed to get there for New Years, not Christmas!!!!

Happy to see you here Phyllis. Thank God you and BJ didn't get much damage from the storm, and neither did Joey.
I finally heard from my Singapore bff sister who lives in Houston. Her first hurricane experience. She, her hubby and mother were in the closet for 14 hours!! Said only damage was to her gazebo... roof blown off, structure still standing!! Mother wanted to go out to see what the hullabaloo was all about!! Singapore may be a tropical island, but it's very sheltered by other surrounding countries!
But, I'm still waiting on my gf, Sophie. Can't get through.. maybe tomorrow.

Right, Trisha... I think the deal is not for Christmas, but for New Years... kind of a "Welcome 2009" gift.

Deborah sorry you don't get the day off, but thankful the damage wasn't worse. I know what you mean though. I would love to have just one day to do only what I want to do and not what I need to do for me and everyone else...it would be so nice..........*sigh*.....

so, Jaye.. I'm confused... did you call your sister in Singapore? Or does your sister now live in Houston? Is that the one you're going to visit next year? or is Sophie another person altogether?

Sophie is the one I try to visit every year, in Houston.
Tina is my best friend (who is still in Singapore) youngest sister. I knew Tina when she's 5 years old. Tina came over a year ago, she's 31 now..hadn't seen her for 24 years!

I heard a report today that all phones are down in Houston right now... and they're working on getting Cell service up first... probably by Tuesday... then they'll work on land lines... so, be patient, Jaye... I'm sure half the country is pacing the floors not being able to get hold of their loved ones in the Houston area.

Oh, and BTW... I understand perfectly now...

Thanks Jaye, Sorry Phyllis, I knew that but my brain isn't here tonight had DS and future DIL, Laura and the DGD all here tonight and it was a circus...was trying to get dinner and catch up on DG ............I sent Sage to take the packing styrofoam that my critters were packed in out the trashcan.....it was a solid piece when it left.....this is what we found a few minutes later....LOL...a little early for Christmas...

Sage is making memories for y'all that's all. She's a cutie pie!

DH said this wasn't the worst of it, she was completely covered until he said something and she tried to get it off.....all that static we finally had to take the shop vac to her....her comment was "why can't I have fun??? But we do love her to pieces!!

I got lost and posted on #24. It's late (or early) please forgive me. Back to what I was saying on #24: Here's a site that gives many nursery rhymes origins. This site is much more condensed than all the books my mother and I used to research at the library when I was a kid. I wanted to know the meaning of so many things, and off to the library we would go to find the answers. Nursery rhymes were my favorite, followed by ghost stories.
Jack and Jill is a real interesting but scary nursery rhyme (French origin: beheading of King Louis XVI followed by Queen Marie Antoinette. Although, kids did have a way of making light of these events by giving the rhyme a happy ending. One that always made me cry as a child was Rock a Bye Baby. I think it was due mostly to my mama's voice making it seem sad as she sang it.

some cell phone do work down there though to as shelly(my DD) talked to her friends in Houston by cell saturday late afternoon they called her by cell....so I'm sure IF any towers are working they are doing triple time with calls trying to get through.

I had that same thing happen to me when I tried to break up a gint styro block-DH was PO'd since he had just vaccumed and here I go making a mess!!LOL
