Evening Hotties,

All is well, I am not home, I’m at my DD’s. Siobhan is in her own bed and asleep I think. I’ll be chief babysitter until my DSIL gets in. I did get to see my boy but again not for long, Siobhan just can’t deal with the hospital for more than an hour or so. I do have more pix but I can not do anything with them here. Don’t worry I will bombard you with them tomorrow. I have the day off and Siobhan will go to school, so Nana will get some much needed rest and maybe, I said maybe clean up the disaster she created.

I need to go back to the thread and catch up with all that happened this afternoon.

Wolfie, that is some incredible artwork there, do not be so modest it is fantastic. I taught decorative painting and general craft for 10 years so I know how much work you put into them.

Cat, Lily bulbs are soft skinned, they should not be kept over winter they should be planted as soon as you get them (just bulbs not lilies in pots). You can keep them for a couple of weeks in the veggie draw in the fridge, but if they are allowed to dry out they will die. I’m pretty sure you can put them in the ground as long as it is not frozen. The directions for spring planting (which is when I usually put mine in) is to plant as soon as you can dig the hole (March – May) here. You should get them in early enough so the bulb can grow roots, according to the experts fall is the best time to plant them. I of course never follow the rules I have planted them as late as June, but planting this late will produce a smaller stem and a later bloom the first year. After that they catch up.

Karen, DL are like most any other flowering plant, you can not just have one. I have now have well over a hundred, none are the expensive ones most I buy bare rooted in the spring off the web for a buck or two each, They are so easy care; they don’t need great dirt and just a little water will get you beautiful flowers.

AuntB, Try a few lilies they are not additive (ha ha), they are very inexpensive when you buy bulbs and really easy to grow. I have several in places in the yard that do not get any more than water when it rains. I mean really they can be a just plant and forget type of thing. Don’t get me wrong if you do get addicted and have to have better than the basic garden shop or bargain bundle lilies than they can get pricey. I’ve had Orientals and Asiatic for quite a while, trumpets for the last 3 years. Trumpets multiply like rabbits but some need staking. I hate staking flowers so this year I added some OP and Tree lilies which are about the same. These grow huge up to 6’ with tons of blooms on each, the do not multiply but put all the strength into height and flower.

Phyllis, Louise, Kim and Clem, beautiful lilies, so glad to see I have company with my Lily passion. You all have some fantastic ones that I don’t have so I am drooling here.

Becky, so glad your doing okay, wish I could send you a Genie

Lu, Gorgeous Irises, I really love blue flowers and those are a beautiful shade of blue.

Good luck all with the pollinations, me I’ll just buy or beg seed for now.

Hi everyone. Wonderful artwork wolfie. I used to like to do embroidering but my eyes seems to be going downhill the older I get. Too many hours staring at a computer screen!

Anyone want some Marshalls Delight bee balm? I am going to dig up some, probably this weekend.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh I would love to have some, if you have enough! I don't have any bee balms, but I know they are popular at our RU's. Be glad to pay postage of course, just let me know how much. Thanks Cathy!

Hi Clemen and Louise! Kim, you better get over here and post more, we miss you kid! I have had a great day, so cool and nice here! Aunt B, how's that tootie tonight? I remember well how it hurt for days afterwards, but didn't want to tell you that before the surgery. It's not unbearable of course, just hurts.

Donna, I see things are kind of getting back on schedule for little Siobhan....I wonder how she will react after the baby is home for a week or two? I'll bet she is a great big sister! At a good age to "help" too, such as bringing diapers, wipes..Ah...........I'm kinda sorta ready for a grandbaby myself, but not quite the right time for the kids yet. Maybe a wedding in the next year though..They have been together for 5 years now, seems like their already and old couple, LOL!

Lu and Becky? Whatchoo doing tonight? I watched House, I also think Hugh Laurie is sexy as well as Gordon Ramsey, what is it with me and strong, rude men? Course in real life I like the teddy bears like my Jerry.

I'm excited now about the darned Daylilies, ya'll just had to enable me, hmppphhh. Next year I'll be spending every extra dime on them I suppose, hahahaha! Problem is, I really don't have alot of sunny spaces at all without building beds and darn I hate doing that. Would have to be raised on top of St. Augustine. I'm never going to dig out another big bed again. Are ya'll really anal about tagging every lily?

(Cathy), MO

I'm still going to get together a list & post. Give me a couple days! :-) Heading to the shower now. Have a good night everyone

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hey Hotties!!! Beautiful artwork Wolfie! I have been reading just not talking y'all know i'm the quiet one ^_^
I have never seen a snail in my garden before....this was at the top of a 7ft brug....he does not live there anymore ; }

Thumbnail by kimarj
Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Lucky Kim no snails, you must not have any shade in your yard all. I have them all over and do not like them. I hope you picked that one and sent it to your worst neighbor, lol. Clem

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Ha ha ha!! yeah they prolly multiply and come back and take over! One lady next to me yard is HORIBLE..grrrrr she just lets the yard go wild and has scale on a lot of plants...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

That's not the kind I get! I get slugs, without shells! But I did find a couple when I put out the Snail and Slug bait. I;m gonna hafta do that again, I've seen a couple of trails!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Oh I get slugs..yuck! I put down diatomaceous earth for them gets the earwigs too!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL Kim @not living there anymore. You would think it would be too late for caterpillars, yet I found one on my brug. He moved too...lol

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

No i'm not anal about tagging the DL's...Just write down the names and see what they look like
So when they bloom I know who's who...so for those few weeks their blooming they can be my favorite....LOL
It's kinda like your brug blooms...you just can't get enough looking...
Didn't really realize it was that important to people..Until DG...
But I guess if your buying a plant that costs an arm and a leg I guess you wanna know...

Earwigs are my worst nightmare.....I hate them things with a passion....
Got stung by one a few weeks ago and it was like an electrical shock going through my body...
Knew there was a reason I've hated them all my life..

Now I've noticed that one of the brugs has a really really really noticable asymetrical leaf on it...
i'll get a pic later when it's light out....
I'm running out of time here....

on the subject of daylilies(we r now) i do need mailing addresses. and don't expect a tub full, i will try to devide equally. many r stella0-de-orr. they will bloom next spring. do not crowd them when planting, they won't bloom if crowded.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Lovely Wolfie!!! I just told my sis the same thing about the stellas. I just got a new stella this year called superior stella. Blooms lemon yellow and is larger.

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Your crossstitching is beautiful.....
I use to do embroidery with my mom when I was a little girl...
Pillowcases..sheets..tableclothes...

Good morning all. Slept in late. This lady may be too old for nights out, yeah, right! Had a great time.

Ya'll just settled a question I had been having about the Stella de oros. I have three planters full that did nothing this year, and this is their fourth year, so I will definitely be dividing those. I did not realize they did not like crowding. Two of them are these absolutely so ugly they are cute plastic swans my MIL bought me. I could not bring myself to like them when she first gave them to me. After her death, now I will not get rid of them and the Stellas look so good in them, when they bloom.

Werewolf, Can I use one of your brug pictures and I will start a new thread for everyone? Is that okay with you? Peg

Good Day Hotties! Lazy evening last night... from little sleep the night before... Okay, Donna, I'll bite... What is an OP and a Tree Lily? I have 4 nursery pots of lilies waiting to be planted, some have waited 2 years... I think I'll just scratch the rocks and clay, unpot them and fill in around them with some dirt/p.mix... SO, yes, I like the lilies and didn't know or think about them being so adaptable to that kind of "soil". But, I'm not biting on any more (right now), I've "abused" the ones I have too long. Wolfie, sure enjoying pics of your talent, and college?? a few years ago? you were like 65... you go, Hottie! Your dear lady IS a smart gal to have scooped you up. My mother is 75 and has 6 living sis's, and 3 bro's, they write letters (and phone). I'd love to get them all on a computer... but they think they are too old to learn! HA-we're NEVER too old to learn........... I'm a bit confused on the fruit ...vendor in the Phillipines... did you stub your toe on a banana? lol ;) I like all your pics, especially the triple cross stitch and the "amatuer" barn painting... I think it is lovely, I could almost smell the hay and barnyard animals.. Do you own Kubota equipment?? My boss has a couple Kubota tractors and Komatsu excavators and wheel loaders... (nice lamp, too)
Sweet Taters (Linda Kay :) What kind of surgery on your foot, dear?? Makes my ingrown sound like a paper cut! Toe looks kinda yucky, but I think it is healing, it is more of an aggravation than painful, but reminds every once in a while that I had something done to it..
I Kim, the quiet one! :) Funny how that snail passed up all the other branches and leaves on his journey to the top... I've got things (cats I think) eating on mine, but soon, they will be getting stripped of a lot of their leaves, so I'm letting the cats nibble a little here and there.
Gotta do some work.... later Hi Clem, Cathy, Phyllis, Audrey- hope I didn't miss anyone. Bet Pegs sleeping in after her big night "out on the town" ;) Posey, waving back at ya (from the hottie thread to the brug 101 thread, which I hope there isn't a test on today, cause I didn't do my homework (study the 101 thread) last night) lol

NE, KS(Zone 5b)
