Spirit of this swap:
This is actually an easy swap for ALL of us here. We know each other prettttttyyyy goood (a la Larry David) .. so there should be no problems at all in coming up with that 'special' ringing in 2009 gift for any of us. And if we don't, there's plenty of time to do so
It doesn't have to be restricted to crafts, can be anything .. that plant you know which will grace your buddy's garden and bring a smile when it starts blooming .. or even a jar of very much sought after preserves that will delight your sistah in the mornings or at tea time.
Not seeking commercial nor monetary value on the gift.
Just a gift that says: "I am glad you are my Sistah and with this, I wish you the best for 2009".

NOTE: You don't have to join the swap to enjoy this thread.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

he he he I am 1st and for sure I will have some for you BJ

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Present and accounted for.... and taking up my place in the corner with my easy chair.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Cool... maybe you can bring them to the RU... (and don't forget your feathers)...

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

lol ok will do. Not sure how to dry them out yet, they are still on the plant.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, please... don't pluck those feathers off their plant... sheesh.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Tia, how far are you from the RU?
Never been to an RU, sent plants in lieu of my presence. I'm missing meeting fellow DGers that have so much in common with me.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm not sure how to conduct lessons online... but if I ever figure it out, I'd be happy to do that. Problem is, not everyone already has the tools to do it with, and it can get expensive to get started... Just ask Don how expensive... he said, just the other day... "you're going to do this for a while, right?".... LOL

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Sorry, I posted on the other thread...
I'm here for a minute!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, Jaye... we'll have our own RU next May... just for you... ok?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

What other thread? Joyce?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

THIS IS JOYCE'S POSTING:

When I talked to Kathy yesterday, she said her daughters had left early for Florida, cause one needed to be at work at 3:00. She also said, Michael's mom had called and said his sister was doing better so they cancelled the trip. I think they were going to run away and hibernate and eat worms or something like that... ;o)

You guys are a hoot with all your jokes...keep em laughing!!

Living wreath sounds neat. If I had the time I'd try that, but doesn't look like a good year for it. I'm having a local RU (ORVG) on the 27th and I told Bill I want to be in the other house by then. So we'll see!

I lucked in to a good sale on Friday. One of the nursery's I go to was having their "Nook and Cranny" plants at 10 for $10. So I got 10 for my new rock garden. It's starting to look pretty good. I keep forgetting to take my camera over there.

Yesterday, my GF and I went to Wal-mart and another nursery and I have to confess, I came home with some things...Well, I had to use those bonus coupons... ;)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That will be nice, an RU at BJ's too.. may be a small one, cause we won't be driving there :( But I'll do a miniature garden, the size of a brandy goblet!!!
Thanks Joyce on Sis' news. Amen to her SIL's recovery.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I am going to the Tyler on and I am about 6 hrs from there. Then the next weekend is in arlington and I am about 2 hrs from there. Then in may it will be about 3 hr I think to go to BJ's.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

morning ladies
been out spraying the veggie and flower gardens already this morning before the sun gets up much.

Thanks for the update on Ike BJ wonder if it heads toward LA if they will leave again or stick it out this time.
you want okra?? do you want seeds to grow some? if so I can bring ya some I have a whole baggie full of seeds and two of mine in the garden are getting ready to bloom again.

mmm moneky mold now that would be a hoot found out the son in law to be has a thing for monkeys and since he doesn't like frosted cake that could be an idea for the grooms "cake" for the wedding whenever it will be LOL

geez all this talk of wreaths and such is making me think back to the rope ones I used to make but when we moved I got rid of a bunch of stuff to make room for the important things that had to come ...gonna have to save my pennies and go craft shopping some day soon.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I will be mailing out some of the okra pods as soon as they all turn a red color and then I get them dried out.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Tia, you might as well live in Tx!! All your important friends are there!
Lucky you..

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Found it... but thanks Jaye...
Love those Nooks and Cranny plants...
The local organic nursery near me sold out to new owners... they just reopened last week, and I'm anxious to see what they're going to carry in there... the old owners were burned out, I think, and I was hard pressed to find anything I wanted there for a while now... I do hope the new owners carry a better variety.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

we have a wreath/swag/centerpiece swap coming up soon.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

No Tia it shouldn't be 3 hours to BJ from Arlington she is between me and Arlington and I'm near Tyler and Chandler and it takes at the most 2 hours to get to Arlington if traffic is bad for me.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Yea a lot of my friends live there but my mom and my children all live here for now. My oldest daughter might be moving to Austin next year for her internship so I will be visiting there a lot as they are trying to get pregnant now so they will have baby #1 here at home before they have to move.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

No, Phyllis... she's about 3 1/2 hours from me from Norman, OK... you're only about an hour away from me... we really need to do lunch sometime...

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Well from me to Bj's i think it is 3 hrs to her. Not from arlington. i am coming from Norman.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Are you having a "Sistahs get-together" BJ?

I wanted to update you on my Dad. His surgery on Wednesday went well and he has just done amazing. He is coming home today already and he can start walking right away. He'll be up to his two miles a day in no time. At 90, I think that's saying a lot! Thanks for all the prayers sent our way. Bless you all!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Also I can make that drive any time, When I go to town and do errands I drive that much anyway.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Urrrggghhh... Phyllis, why do you have to remind me of gardening chores!!
Most days they are necessary pleasant routines, but today, one of those..I don't want to do anything unless it required reading!!!
Well, got to get my behind in gear. Thank Him in public for sparing us Hanna's wrath and continue praying for the hurricanes coming. Please..give some peace to Marion .
Y'all enjoy Debra's coffee now.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh that is just so great Joyce.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Good to hear, Joyce... sounds like he's doing just fine.

Yes, Joyce... my house, Mem Day Weekend 2009... come early, stay longer... what ever you like... but be here.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ok I misunderstood her post I thought she was talking from Arlington and yeah you are and yeah we should jsut have to find a day of no school or a weekend

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Gonna share that testimony too on your Dad, Joyce! Definitely a big PTL

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Ooohhhh will have to put that on the calendar!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks Jaye, yes definitely PTL!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I am so proud of myself, i got out in the garden yesterday and got some of the zinnia seeds and shelled them, OMG its had to see what is seed and what is shell on some of them. Got the spider flower seeds collected and some of the marrow hmmmmmm still not sure what the seed is in them so will send the whole tiny bloom.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Joyce, no arguments... you are on the swap. You got 3 months to do it, now your Dad is okay. :D

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Okay. Jaye...twisted my arm... ^_^

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL... that's so funny Tia... I got whole envelopes of seed that I've collected that I don't have a clue what they are... but, they were pretty, and I stole them out of someone's garden when I dead head their plants for them (it's a service I perform regularly)...

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

sorry Jaye but I'm trying to keep the garden going so I can try and get more tomatoes from it ....things were going good until we went back up to Illinois the first week of august and stepson didn't water things like we asked and instructed ....the toms were just coming on almost full force then so I missed a bunch and I wanted to make salsa and can some toms too....and I find if I spray wtih EM1 and some miracle grow and water things do alot better in this poor ground we have...

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

LOL gee that sounds like me BJ but the sees I have I got from LouC over in Desoto the end of July and I didn't write what they were so now it will be start a few and find out LOL

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh gosh I do have all of these seeds separated for now. I do have some seeds I have no clue as to what they are, but I like surprises.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Phyllis... no plant is safe around me... if the bloom is dried, and the upper part of the stem is too... it's mine. I get some real ugly looks from people at restaurants when I snap them off before I go in... then ask for a napkin to wrap them up. My neighbors have gotten used to me now, so they don't even give me that look any more.
