. . . and here's the view out the window behind the artistically-scuffed ;-) leather sofa.
Where is your DG central?
Looks pretty and comfy to me, Emily!! I like the company you keep! I also love that revolving bookstand and dictionary stand in the background. I had an antique one in my office before I retired. They hold a lot of books in a small space! Very nice. Isn't it fun to see each person's space??
Candyce - where are you???? I think you should show everyone that pretty spot you have for your computer. I like yours!
oooooooh, Emily! That is beautiful!!!
Love the views--how does anyone concentrate? I'm supposed to be writing something for my class tomorrow--would rather look at office spaces!
What subject / grade do you teach, Robin? I think you've said it before, but I forgot.
Isn't that the truth, Robin! I often take a book out to read on our front porch, but I get so distracted by the beauty of the woods - nothing fancy, just woods! - I can hardly ever get anywhere reading out there. LOL
That leather sofa would do me in. Really comfy.
The garden looks wonderful.
Everyone has such interesting interiors and to think this thread startes feom a word from DonnieBrook.
Keep them comming.
Louise - you get extra points for the fresh flowers!
Oh Emily. Beautiful view, inside and out!
Emily -LOVE that couch.
Nance - LOL....Doesn't EVERY gardener surround themselves with the fruits of their labor??? I love to have fresh flowers - some in little teeny vases - tucked around the house. That's the nice thing about coleus cuttings - they look pretty in vases while they are rooting.
Emily -LOVE that couch.
Thanks flowerjen and everybody. I didn't really realize how shabby-chic it looked (accent on "shabby") 'till I posted the pic. . .but you're right; it is an old friend and seductively comfortable, which is why I end up doing my DG thing on it. And sometimes just slipping down to get more comfortable. . . sigh. . . ZZZZZZzzzzzzz.
Sorry I couldn't get back sooner--too busy! I am retired from my teaching, where I taught 4th, 6th, & finally 5 years of 7th before I had it! I TAKE a creative writing class in town--this year am writing a children's book based on my GD Hayden's imagination---I also take a botanical watercolor class--but right now we are learning to do quick little pictures of structures & portraits---did my DS's house yesterday, but the perspective was a killer. Looks like he lives in a lopsided dwelling!
Both sound like lots of fun!
Come on Sherrie!!! That's neat as a pin! I can make a much better mess than that!!! LOL Like your hat........it's really you!!
Great hobby---lots of memories in that hat! I collect birds, but don't have any in my computer room---dogs would chew in an instant!
Robin, you said "I collect birds . . . ". Real, stuffed, or imaginary? LOL!
I collect moose!
Not real, no hunting allowed.
And, a typical view from my desk. I look through a doorway into the next room that has the sliding glass door in it. In the winter, the bird feeder hangs on the deck and I watch the birds. I don't usually look through the windows behind my desk, because that's mostly the street and neighbor's house.
Nice surroundings, Sofonisba! .... My office has been dubbed "The Forest" .... only thing missing in both of ours is a cozy leather sofa! :-)
schicken sure does have a swell hat! With or without the nicely subtle buttons :-)
Here's a view Down-N-Out my window. The greenhouse shuffle is in full swing.
UGH! Everything is just thrown in there, nothing is right. All on top of one another .....
You can barely make out Queen Boudicca in her cage behind the tomatoes I grew inside this summer.
Not a bad yield at all, but not worth the work and the space .... Some grew right to the top—17 foot +.
Wow Willi that is georgeuos
Thanks, JoAnn! Hope you are feeling & healing well today!
Oh, WNY, I love it!
Wow, Harper "Welcome to the Jungle" is running thru my mind.
Seeing your bookcases just reminds me I need some more. I have so many books and about 70% of them are still in boxes in the garage. We had a lot of built ins in our old house and have none here so I still haven't gotten around to unpacking everything. We've been here 4 yrs. There was always another project more important.
Here's a shot of my corner of the universe. Or, at least where I hook up to the universe!
Small cheap desk with both a large Dell desktop, and a space for my laptop.
My cup of eternal coffee, which I go nowhere without.
Photos of my children and grands.
Pens, post-its, and scratch paper.
And my card making supplies.
The painting was the very first thing I purchased for myself after I got divorced a million years ago. I look at it often.
And, yes, that is a very old Singer sewing machine nearby, too.
nice stuff Candyce.
Thanks, Jo Ann. I love my home and I love my family for allowing me to live here with them. I'm sure you appreciate it the same way I do.
Harper - very productive looking spot, and I love your desk and plants. Nice to have so much shelf space for all of your books. As Jen said, so many of mine are still in boxes in the garage shed. We're both trying to decide what books and framed things will make the cut. LOL
Willie - What an amazing shot from above! Looks like an indoor garden. I could really get into working in a plant-filled space like that all winter!!
Candyce - I was hoping you would post a shot of your pretty space. I remember how nice it looked and how cozy!!
Nice spot, Liza! And I love it that you can watch the birds while you are at your desk. Very cool!
I had trouble with the glare from the lights in the house as well. I only showed one side of the room because my tall bookcase on the wall behind my desk chair (the bookcase that actually has books in it....LOL) won't show up without some glare. Don't forget to show us John's area when he isn't looking! LOL
Thanks Louise! I agree - nice spot Liza! I love the bare wood walls. My dream house is like that.
Louise, your area is so charming...
Everyone's area is so unique. I spend the bulk of my time looking out my window... Its funny how connected to nature we all are.
This was a unique thread.
Liza
Very true. When my laptop died last year, I spent a few months on my desktop in the windowless basement - very depressing!
