That's not messy, just a neatly stacked pile of boxes.
Love your guy in the barrel!!!

That guy is called The Looser. Its a liquor dispenser - 60's. push the button and his head turns and then he dispenses. :-}

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Great pictures everyone.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Very nice work spaces, Jen, Tommy and Sherrie! Jen - I got a wierd deja vu feeling when I saw the view out your window. Can't explain it!

Tommy, I hope you have a few good power surge protectors in that room! LOL

Thom - How many pots? I'd say about 20 would make it a day dream and about 40 would make it a real dream, and about 75 would make it a nightmare. LOL

ROTFL

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

Sherrie, you did a great job. Your boxes look like what's in my closet. The barrel guy is hilarious!

Here are the other shots I told you about. 1800's bookshelf.

and the window view. Had to clean up that clothes line before taking that shot! Nothing like air dried clothes.

The 1800's one was at our next door neighbor's house in the basement holding old paint cans when my DH spotted it. DH asked if he could have it, then spent a pretty penny having it restored. It was worth it!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Louise, How weird, dodododododo
Nance, nice bookcases, great find. I love the old radiators.

Poughkeepsie, NY(Zone 6a)

Victorgardener,
The TV is a Sears and it's about 30 years old now! Still works great!

Donniebrook,
Yes, I have surge protection and battery backup for some of those PCs.....
Main PC is a PPC Mac mini, been running 24/7 for over 4 years now. One laptop is a Macbook, the smallest is an Asus eeepc.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice book cases Nan.Valuable too.
As new reproductions I have seen them online for over $400.00 as real antiques they are worth more I should think.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I think it's unanimous, Nance .... Those are awesome units of shelving! I esp. like the detail work on the older one. Very nice find! (My eyes get all puffy if I dry the clothes on the line. You can't beat the dryer for soft, fluffy bath towels, though.)

Sherrie: Did you note how you really cannot even see my desk? Just a hint of the edge? I did pull trim off the brown leaves and vacuum, but just beyond the edges of the photo is disaster.

Though, I am no candidate for that BBC show How Clean Is Your House?

Bill it only took me 5 days to clean it. I should take a pic of the closet that I threw everything into **oh and the cabinet on the other side of the room! You guys and gals would totally pass out lol

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks for all the compliments on the furniture, guys and gals! I'll let DH read your comments. That stuff is all BN (Before Nancy.)

Willie - I agree with fluffy towels out of the drier!

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

Line dried clothes...lol.

I will not get into specific details...but I found out one year what kind of skin reaction I have when gypsy moth caterpillars are on certain parts of my body...and, that I'm allergic to bees. All of the "clothing malfunctions" happened within 1 week of another.

I love the smell and feel of line dried clothes, but...lol...to many fond memories.

Love the book cases!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How long are you married, Nance? Funny, Thom. Sounds like me and the habanero peppers!

Its good not to get the electric bill but jeans are way too stiff.

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

I had 4 parrots. I used to feed them as much of a varied diet as I could. I had a Caninde (Blue Throated Macaw) that I hand raised from a 4 week old chick. Anyhow, Vida, the Caninde, loved all things spicy, the hotter the better. Vida also loved to sit on my shoulder and "preen" my eyelashes, eyebrows, and give loads of "Macaw" kisses near the lips....

It wasn't until about 2 minutes after the burning started that I realized what was causing this horrid burning sensation...on my eye, near my eye, my nose, my mouth...then I quickly realized Vida had just downed a few jalapeno, and habanero peppers. It was painful to say the least.

Lots of washing with Dawn dish detergent that day, LOTS...lol.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thats one hot kissing Macaw huh? LOL

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

Our first anniversary is in Oct. Aaahhh, newlyweds.

Hand raising a parrot is a very demanding thing to do. Good for you Thom. The bond must have been very strong between you and Vida. Did she talk?

LOL Pix

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I love to dry sheets on the line but that's it for me.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We aren't allowed to have clotheslines in this development.
Also no woodpiles
window AC units
unregistered cars
boats and trailers
motor homes campers
Dish TV 's or roof antennes
Too snooty huh?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Well, my clothesline is retractable, and it does look much nicer without it stretched across the yard. And we have a small dish TV on the back roof. I don't think either one would be too disturbing to the neighbors.
I don't especially like boats or motor homes in view!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Better make sure your garden design satisfies the style police, Jo Anne!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I too, agree with some of those.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I would NOT be able to live somewhere like that. No wood piles??? What do you do if you have a fireplace?

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

Nane-She squawked more than anything. The African Grey I had, he never shut up. I also had two Solomon Island Eclectus (male and female). One spoke a little (the male) the female just imitated noises. Vida hated to fly, flapping her wings, she would actually get scared and land right on the floor...every time she took off, right to the floor. She followed me around like a puppy, and when I would sit down, she would nest on my feet.

Not sure how much parrot knowledge any of you have, or more specific macaw knowledge, but sometimes macaws use their tongues like a finger or a hand...they try moving things, testing, pushing open...more tactile than for taste...but a macaw tongue full of pepper oils...wowzers.

I miss them. Essentially, full time school, full time work, union steward, and then working on this house full time, I knew in my heart of hearts I didn't have time for them, so I re homed them all. It wasn't an easy process, and took a little over 4 months to do it. I miss them, and eventually will get another macaw...I dream of one day owning a Hyacinth Macaw...but a dream is a dream.

ge-sort of restrictive, a little...lol.

Everyones desk area is so unique, I love plant people :-)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The woodpiles is silly, but the motor homes, trailers, unregistered cars I agree with.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We have a woodpile and in the year we have lived here no one has reported us.
There is a dish hidden in the bushes at another house.
There is a "Covenent" that comes with the neighborhood and most of it makes sense.
Ther is also no fences and I must say the original landscaping makes one unnecessary. I am planting tall plants in the middle of the shade garden wich borders the lot on one side.
This is the view from bedroom-computer.

and from my livingroom
The shade garden border can only be seen from the deck, all in all its quite private.
Befor anyone thinks i won the lottery I will explain My DD and SIL and I sold our houses and pooled the money to buy this big house in a really wonderful neighborhood so I could live with them in a Master Suite on the first floor.
I'm quite down to earth and a self made woman.
Nuff about that.
Also part of the Covenent is
no chickens, goats, livestock in the yards.
Makes for quite a civil place.

Thumbnail by ge1836

No satilite dish, no wood, no campers or just no nothing. It means people are running your life. As long as its clean TA TA. Its my life and I dont want you or anyone else running it. My home is my castle.

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

I raised and sold spoon fed cockatiels. I also spoon fed a congo african grey(always wanted a timneh, myself) an umbrella cockatoo and a scarlet macaw. It was very hard to part with them even though I was raising them for sale. The Hyacinth are gorgeous! Never seen one in "person".

Our neighbors are all very good about being discreet with placement of the unsightly objects. As for wood piles, I like 'em! There is a circular one down the road that is very interesting. I love to watch it shrink as the winter wears on.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

All the neighbors here are respectfull of unsightly stuff.
They rent storage for boats and trailers etc.
The covenent is nice to have for an oddball crazy who wants to errect a stockade fence so he can repair cars behind it.
This was done in my old neighborhood and there was nothing my friend could do when it blocked her only view up the street, all she had left was her livingroom window.
The stockade guy also tore out a rose hedge to park four cars in his front yead. People complained to the town who wrote a letter to him and he complied. He never checked to see what the zoneing laws were.I don'r believe he knew there were such things.
At the far end there are places that dictate what color your tulips can be.
Too bad it attracts people who like only red ones. How "uptight" no thanks.
It's a bit Orwellien.
