Here's mine. My laptop is on the kitchen / great room table most of the time. I watch the birds outside the window. That's one of my new kittens doing the same! I sometimes bring it to the patio when it's nice, but the battery doesn't last that long and I hate to drag an extension cord out.
Where is your DG central?
Nice space.
I love the kittin shot, makes me want one, bet it's the only time the kit was still.
Thanks. Yes, they're pretty energetic. Both are napping now, though.
I love the "flat belly" position.
Thom - That banana tree has done great, huh? I see I'm not the only mac user!
Sherrie - I believe the file cabinet is late '50's. Was a "take it or we'll throw it out" deal many moons ago. I'll take a couple more shots tomorrow to show you the late 1800's bookcase and the 1920's stackable bookcase. The sun is just too bright right now to get a good shot.
Victor - The Ali painting was hanging in a restaurant that DH used to frequent with his autistic uncle. The owner's father was a boxer in the 40's. When the restaurant closed, my hubby got it and the two original boxing glove menus(seen to the right of the painting) from his very good friend, the owner.
Love the view with the little kitten so intent. Do they go out at all?
Cool, Nance. I used to be really into boxing and love Ali. The cats don't go out.
Float like a butterfly - sting like a bee!
DH boxed in the marine corp. Lost all of his six fights (called 'smokers') - three opponents were Navy champs in med/hvy category.
That is Joe Frasier on the ground in the painting.
Ouch - 0 for 6! Actually, that's Sonny Liston on the mat. It was their second fight with the infamous 'phantom punch'. Word was always that the mob paid Liston to take a dive.
Sorry - you're right. It is Liston. DH just confirmed.
No problem. Ali never knocked Joe down. Joe knocked him down in their first fight and broke his jaw. I always liked Joe - class guy all the way. I did not like Ali when I was real young and rooted for Frazier. I learned later that Ali's brash bravado was just his shtick.
I met Joe Frazier, at a restaurant where everyone was going nuts taking pics and talking to him. I ignored him, just had no interest. He sat down at my table to talk with me. I thought it was odd for him to do that.
Really, Deb? Cool. He probably wanted to talk to you because you were not star-eyed.
Yeah, that's what I figured. He was very nice. I didn't even take a pic with him.
That is cool, Deb. Do you remember what year it was?
No, just a long time ago, I think before my son was born, who is now 22. It was in downtown Rochester, why he was here, who knows.
Andy - love Sarah's office .....I assume she lets you use it now and then!
Nance - that is a lovely spot. The antique file cabinet grabbed me too. I'd say your office is quite Victorized!!
Victor - what a lovely view you have. No wonder the new kid on the block is enthralled!
Sherrie - quit looking at the antiques and clean your own office!!!
Sue - you are so right. In fact, I just said that to Hank today! By the way, I meant to tell you in my earlier post that I love your multi-purpose space......and I, too, like that table cloth!! Looks like a fun room to be in!
Deb! He might have been here for the "Press Radio Athlete of the year dinner"
My X was a feature sports writer for the Democrat and Chronicle and the "biggies" would come to town for it.
I met Yogi Berra and Whitie Ford.
Joe must have wanted brief company of a pretty girl, having adoring men fans gets old after awhile.
Sure is nice seeing everyone's "corner" and their view out the window. I must be the messiest housekeeper. (no surprise!)
And thanks! I built the greenhouse to get the plants out of the house, but guess what has spilt back in!
Am I really the only one who has plants inside, too?? :-)
I am with PrimeRose Sue .... just don't turn the camera to the OTHER side of my room here!! Is that embroidery inherited or self-mastered? I have something very similar passed down from great grandmom. Very nice.
JoAnn: Hope you are feeling ever better today. I know some hours are worse than others. Wish I were closer, I would come DeadHead in the Rain for you.
Nice antiques, collectibles and wildlife, too!
I will get pics up when the sun comes out.
I have a bunch of houseplants too Willie.... not to worry
Willie, I do cross-stitch, but I got this cloth at an antique store a few years back.
All of my inside plants go outside for the summer. lol.
I know from pics that you have sent WNY you would need a lot of space outside to move all indoor plants outside! Plus, you have a really nice green house, I'm slightly envious :-)
The banana canna has not disappointed me at all this year. The morning glories growing up the stalks is pretty neat also. Every time Paul's Dad and Step Mom come down, she is always like, "I would never have thought about doing that." I'm hoping the MG set seed. Somewhere, on a thread in this very forum, someone has a MG that looks just like this one, except theirs is more blue than light purple. My MG is called 'Blue Tye Dyed' it has variegated foliage and the flowers range from solid pink/purple, to striped purple, light striped purple, to solid petunia pink color. I really like the foliage more than anything.
My dream would be to have my computer near plants, since about 90% of my online activity involves all things plants :-)
Thom - that's a dream that would be easy to make come true....move some pots over there!!!! LOL
LOL.
How man is "some?" lol.
I would suggest at LEAST two dozen!!
That is the perfect setup, Jen. Just enough room work, the chair looks super comfy and the view is right there! Very nice.
Here's the view out the window, but I have to stand up to see it. The windows are high. It looks like I'm in a basement but I'm in the family room ground level. There is cinder block for the lower part of the house so I guess they didn't want to cut thru that to add longer windows.
Eventually we want to blow out the back part to add a sun room, get more light down here.
Room is too dark for my house plants the ones I have are in my dining room.
I just went wireless so if I'm in the mood I guess I can bring the laptop outside.
That's the little corner I carved out of the "kids" space We spend almost all our time down here. When I get it straightened up I'll show the rest of the room.
We actually got that chair for free, one of our customers had their empty offices furnished for they can show potential leasees how it looked, they were going to be redecorating so we got that , the lamp and a writing desk for my sil, we were going to get a display case but when hubby went back someone else took it.
Very nice, Jen.
looks comfortable Jen
Wow - sure you got enough electronic stuff there, Tom?! That's a 'vintage' tv!
nice setup Tommy.
And looks like you are a neat freek.
I haven't heard or seen a ham radio since a was younger. Both of my older brothers used one, but what I remember is that it would mess up the tv I was watching downstairs. I was too young to realize they were talking to people from all over the world (long before there was internet).
I'm surprised it is still going with the internet available.
