RU in NH - October 11 2008

I am not far so I will probably still be there.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Karen, are all the pink NOID daylilies spoken for???

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Debilu, I will wait to meet you!
I have been cleaning, planting and attacking the garden since last week ... next year my garden will look completely different... some areas will be brand new since I dug out every plant from a part sun area... should look colorful... tons of red and dark color DL...

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Debilu, Surely you have some nook or cranny that a plant can survive in... I hate to see you leave empty handed.. If plants aren't going to work at all, how about some seeds?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

There's always room for seeds!!
I actually just saw my doctor and I have to have some more surgery. I don't know when it will be scheduled yet, but I hope I can work it around this week in October. I've been looking forward to meeting DGers for too long now.

Want Seeds?!

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Well, I certainly hope it doesn't ruin your plans! There's nothing like a trek through New England. I have lived here 20+ years and it just isn't fall without a trip somewhere. I will bring a stash of seeds, then! Do you do veggies, too, or just flowers?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I want to try more veggies next year, I'm going to see what I can do in containers, or maybe an earth box.
We have been doing a long weekend trip through New England for my birthday every year for at least the past 10 years. Fall is my favorite time of year, and I also like moose hunting (with my camera only!) New England is the best place - between the foliage, moose, and little country towns!

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Debilu, Let me know what you want to try out. I have a large collection of veggies that can be done in containers. Tomatoes, peppers, summer squash, cukes, you name it.
Also a lot of flowers do well in containers like morning glory and cypress vine. I was afraid they would get away from me so I grew them there this year and they did great.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Kassia, I do have plenty of the pink NOID daylily, so I'll put you down for some.

If anyone want the plain old orange daylilies that many call 'ditch lilies', I just dug up a big patch of them. I hate to throw anything out, and would love to give these a home if anyone would like them.

Karen

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I'd like some ditch lilies Karen! I even have a ditch for them!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Great, Harper! More for you!

Karen

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yay!!

I will take Perenials of any kind. If anyone can spare 2-3 I will give them a home as I will start bed #2 for next year. I wont have much to bring as I just started on a flower garden this year. If I dig them up then there wont be nothing again.

Seeds.
Columbine, Purple and white, Morning Glories - purple, dark pink, light pink, blue and white. No limit on MG,s as there must be 5000 of them! http://davesgarden.com/tools/blog/index.php?tabid=10021

Hollyhocks - pink and dark pink. http://davesgarden.com/tools/blog/index.php?tabid=10022

That is not more seeds I will gather up by the time of the RU. Bhut Jolokia, the dreaded hot peppers. If anyone want a couple of seeds. I had 6 seeds and 4 germinated. So I could give 4 to make sure you get at least 2 plants.

Plants.
1 - chicks and hens or hens and chicks which ever way they wander.
Possibly 2 Asiatic Lillies whiteish yellow, got to be dug up.
EE's - Not sure how many yet as they are not all dug up.
1 - small Emerald N Gold Euonymus its a shrub.

I have a couple more but, my mind aint working yet this early. I will edit this post.

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Schickenlady, Was "Want Seeds" a statement or a question? LOL
In any case, I will bring all of my extras of seeds and plants. I has some plants that were very enthusiastic about multiplying in my garden and not in the places I wanted them.
My veggie beds co-mingle with my flowers and the flowers just love that soft soil. I have dozens of lamb's ear, rose campion, qnd echinacea. The lambs ear has beautiful spikes with tiny pink/purple flowers that the bees just love.

It was a Question I have MG seeds up the goozoo. I have this plate of all the colors. Another plate with just purple. Then the little bags with pinks, blues, whites etc that I tagged with a colored string and snatched up. In other words I have MG seeds. The MG's will not go back on my porch this year. I would freak out for 3 Clematis either seeds or plants.

Gee, Debi, hope you can make it--I enjoyed meeting you at Jo Ann's, & would like to talk with you again. Sherri, I'll bring some perennials--I have loads of phlox, it will be a guess though as to color! Doug & I will be there until 3--- we're only going up to West Leb for the night.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

It does sound like there will still be a few hanging around by the time I get there, so hope to meet everyone I can! Now let's just hope the doc's schedule and my schedule are compatible.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I'll be hanging around at 3, Deb. In fact, I'll probably just be showing up by 2!

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Definitely will hang around for you! We don't want to go to all this trouble and then not make sure it will be a good time for everyone. I am at least 3 hours away, so plan to get my money's worth. LOL
We should do a door prize for the person who came the farthest! What do ya think? I can spring for something for the pot.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

LOL!

Anna & I will still be here to meet you, Deb. And, I like the idea about a prize for whoever has driven the farthest to come to my little garden by the lake.

I'm getting excited now ... October 11th isn't that far away.

Oh, and I still have lots of seeds I can offer as well. Some seeds are even from last October's Round Up. I don't know how good they will be, but I have them to offer to anyone who wishes to try them.

So, what is everyone bringing for food? I am, of course, planning on making those famous brownies!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Candyce, are we doing finger food only???

I can bring a salad... sorry no fresh tomatoes anymore... :-(

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

We can do finfer food, if that's what everyone wants. Or folks can bring a covered dish. Although I said that the grilkl would be going, now I am not so sure of that, as the price of propane is getting a bit steep. But, I do have plenty of paper plates, plastic cups, and napkins. I just need to get plastic cutlery on my next Sam's run.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

What kind of food is needed? I'm not much of a cook. I can bring chips or drinks...

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Harper,

Chips would be awesome!! Thanks for thinking of that.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Okay, I'll bring some chips. Anything else?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I can bring drinks, unless that's already spoken for.

Karen

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Hey all! I just moved a client's date around and I plan on coming with my DBF. I have:

yellow clematis seeds
canada lily seeds
great single hollyhock seeds of many colors
lots of other seeds
white mongolian asters I can dig if anyone wants them
nice peachy salmon glad bulbs
I'll also bring things anyone requests-that you've seen in my posts-if I have enough

Let me know if you want any of this. I wont dig unless someone wants something but I'll definitely bring seeds. I'd love some Stoplight DL, Karen. And some blue MG seeds for next year. I have no idea what I'll bring for food, but I have a few stupid allergies (wheat, dairy, lettuce!!) so I'll have to bring something I can eat in any case. Can't wait to meet you all. You can thank Kassia for the nudge.

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

boojum, I would love to have a mongolian aster and some canada lily seeds.
I am bringing as many extras as I can dig up between now and the RU. If there is any special anyone would like to look for , post it. I don't have a huge number of varieties, but some I have a huge number of. LOL

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Hey, booj! I'd love to try the yellow clematis seeds, as long as they come with some instructions for planting ~ LOL

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Boojum, what does a mongolian aster look like? I could not find it in the plant files under that name. I will put you down for the Stoplight DL. Do the yellow clematis seeds come true to the parent, or would they be a hybrid surprise like the DL's are? I would like some if they are true.

Karen

Clemantis seeds I would like also.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Here's the aster. It's 2-3' tall makes big circular clumps (so I dig out clumps around the outside).

Here's Helios the clematis.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, Boojum, I love that aster. Yes, I will take some. Does it need staking? I would definitely like some clematis seed, too. I love that daylily that the aster is behind. What is the name of it?

Karen

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

It's Olallie Mack.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

I don't stake it but it can flop nicely over my paths. It never looks bad!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

We have just a week to go before the Round Up. Oh my goodness! So much to do. I'm so excited about seeing everyone ~ some for the first time.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm excited, too! I have a lot of plants to dig up.

Karen
