Victor - somehow I missed what happened to your SIL. I hope she continues to do well.

Louise

She had a stroke, Louise. Only 41 yrs old. We're still kind of in shock over it. Been two weeks now. Thank you.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm sorry too Victor, hope she recovers well.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

OMG, Victor. That is shocking, I'm sure. I'm sure you and your DW will be quite helpful to Edie. I will keep her and all of her family in my prayers. Thinking positive thoughts........

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice weather here, but they are predicting that Hurricane Hannah will be coming at us by the weekend. They say at the moment she will be a tropical storm by then. We could use the rain, but where I live, we don't need a huge amount. Thank goodness it will be on the weekend.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Victor - 41 is too young to have to worry about strokes - my thoughts are with you. I hope she bounces back quickly.

Looks like we have a few Tropical issues in the hopper - http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

Beautiful now. Just finished cleaning some windows. Left them open to let in the nice dry air. Took another day off to extend the weekend. I lucked out with this fantastic weather!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Anita. You did pick the right day to take off! Yes, busy tropics these days. Let's hope they don't do any damage. However, I would like some rain. 76 and sunny.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

We desperately need rain. High of 90 again today.

South Hamilton, MA

Finally put 2 drip lines in use yesterday (DH job really, but it is a family garden). Hope predicted sunday rain does appear.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Another beautiful day here. Another shot from Sunday evening balloon fest. Note the color of the leaves in the left side of the pic...

Nice, Deb. Fall is starting up there already?! Nice and cool again here. Great sleeping weather these nights.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Victor. I noticed a few trees starting to change - thought it was too soon too.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Our trees are starting to change but I'm pretty sure it's from lack of rain.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I've seen quite a bit of that.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

nice again today here too

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Thought I had critters in the attic again - turns out it was raining!!! It was the rain hitting the roof...haha.

Accuweather didn't register any rain for my area - I guess they aren't as accurate as they claim.

Still dark outside, but it is supposed to sunny and in the 70's. Hannah will come visiting this weekend bringing rain and wind with her.

It's finally getting daylight outside. A little foggy here this morning. Yeah, the weather channel is saying we may be looking at flooding for this weekend. Like we need flooding. If we get flooded out, hubby doesn't go to work. We live on a class 6 road, which means we take care of our own road. I actually shocked the guys (yeah I said guys because our neighbors are all men) because I snowplowed with the four wheeler last year to open the road up to let them in. We live in a snow belt, so when they predict snow, we get it.

I have not seen my humming birds for 2 days now.

It may be getting that time for them to leave. I only see them every now and then. When I see the feeder no longer go down then I will take it down for the year. Don't you just love those birds. Hummingbirds are my favorite. I have all kinds of things with hummingbirds. And at least 4 hummingbird windchimes. Two friends gave me, one hubby gave me for my birthday and one I bought off amazon.com.

They are cute little buggers and intreging. The geese have been flying over and honking. They normally make thier way to the corn fields near a river this time of year.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

67 and mostly sunny. Supposed to be in the mid-80's again.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I saw my hummingbirds flying around my garden phlox yesterday, so they are still around. There's still a lot in bloom now, so they aren't eating from the feeder as often.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I have two all season, they are at the crocosmia in the front of the house under my livingroom window.
I wondered when they migrated.

I think they leave as soon as it gets really cold out. Between my neighbor and myself, we've been feeding them non-stop.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

You are licky to have so many.
There have never been more that two m&f, not seen them as often so maybe they are going.

Here's some of my hummers.

Thomaston, CT

Our nature column writer said unusual hummers have been showing up at migration time--rufus, but also a very rare broad-billed --last seen on Cape Cod last week. I've only seen a few ruby's in the yard lately. Today is 80, sunny, & breezy--would love to see it like this until next April. Victor, so sorry about your SIL. My DH had a slight stroke 16 years ago--turns out he has a protein in his blood that causes strokes & miscarriages--my stepdaughter also tested positive---too late for her to have a child---our son also tested positive---all my grandchildren will also have to be tested.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks Robin. Sorry to hear about the genetic problem in your family. Best of luck with that.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

How about that thunder last night! woohoo....sounded like a blitzkrieg!!! Will enjoy nice weather until the weekend. Curious to see what all the storms do. I just left the Hurricane Center's site for update. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ Ike is looking pretty ferocious! CAT4 already!

You can say that again. Can't wait to see what he does. They are still saying Hannah will effect us this weekend. We could use the rain, just not a whole lot. Today is suppose to be very warm.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No thunder or rain here. 66 and sunny now. Hot and more humid today. Waiting for Hanna. Will ruin our family picnic, but I'll take the rain. Just wish it was a slower, steadier rain over a longer period. Don't want wind. Glad I closed the pool.

We got thunder and rain last night. It didn't rain that much.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Was supposed to rain today, but now they say Friday - Saturday rains.

Chance of rain for today 20%
