Missouri ChickenStock at Jacob's Cave.

Clarkson, KY

Ok, maybe not this year, but whenever I get my plum wine going I'll bring it to Jacob's Cave -What is this, a chickens and hooch fest?!lol

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

well yea.

Foley, MO

LOL, I meant Pinot Grigio!!!! Um, pink wine? She's talking about a blush I believe. St. James makes a decent cheap wine that's a blush. I believe it's called Catawba or sumpthin'. Personally, I prefer a good Romanian Pinot Grigio. Tastes wonderful! So.........who's bringing the good cheeses and crackers? LMAO ; )

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh gosh yes and fresh bread and olive oil and B. vinegar. I learned that in Rome.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Pink wine (such as rose, blush) is usually not as sweet as the white zinfandel, which is the most commonly served pink wine. Lots of folks who don't like wines still enjoy white zinfandel because it's so sweet and fruity and served cold. Whereas many rose or blush wines are not sweet at all, although I enjoy those too. :-) That said, many Iowa wines are very sweet because we still have a young wine industry and sweet is easier. Catawba is a nice grape - I grow it myself.

I could bring some good cheeses. Someone else should bring some nice local crusty bread...

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I will go this week and buy the wine I like and tell you. I have to see the bottle. I do not like wine except for this one, I can order some cheese from ummmmmm cant remember it is on the other computer, something like benchwood, very very good. We can have a wine and cheese party one afternoon.

Clarkson, KY

I'll make you guys some cheese and send it along with Harmony. (She doesn't know she's going yet, shhh!)

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Oh that would be AWESOME! Homemade cheese!!!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I am ordering it now.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Clarksburg, MO

A Wine and Cheese party. Do I need to dress up for this occassion. I have an old prom dress I think I can squeeze into.

We need T-Shirts for the Chicken and Hooch fest. Something with Dave's garden on the front of it and something crazy on the back. Maybe a Tangerine elephant???? Oh I know, my brother made a shirt for our float trip that says:

I've been to 4 snake catchings
3 skunk milkings
2 hog calling contests
and 1 county fair
but i ain't never seen nothin' like this before!

Something like that. We need to brain storm.

Sheila

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Sounds good to me.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Here's my vote on the t-shirt. This is my current t-shirt and one of my chicks is helping me out with the modification. She is covering the upsidedown cow, that would be replaced by an upsidedown chick.

And instead of cow tipping it would say "chicken flipping"

Claire-

I would wear a chicken flippin' shirt. Chicken flippin' is that a cuss word, LOL. You have my vote.

Sheila

(Zone 7b)

No chicken flippin is not a cuss word but Bird flippin is another subject.

Clarkson, KY

Flippin' Chicken and Flippin' Bird could both be considered cursing. Call the animal abuse people...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

That's why I didn't say "bird flippin'" or even "chick flippin" because I thought it could be misinterpreted. I figured that "chicken flipping' is pretty far from "flipping the bird" if you know what I mean!!!

Clarkson, KY

Only too well,lol.

(Zone 7b)

No flippin a chicken is considered takeing good care looking for lice, Sexing etc. While flippin birds could lead to a problem as some species are protected by law. Now flippin Tangerine Elephants is just cruel and i would never flip Ellie. Its okay Ellie i won't let these flippin folks hurt you.

(Zone 7b)

All this flippin I'm gettin tired!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

No flippin' way am I ever getting even close to flippin' an elephant. That's just plain dangerous!!! LOL!!!

Can I send peanuts to Ellie?

(Zone 7b)

Yes but only organic she has a delicate digestion system and the store ones keep me running for the shovel and a gas mask LOL *Harmony*

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

ROTFL....elephant farts.....LOL....must be worse than greyhound farts!!!

Bring on the gas masks!

(Zone 7b)

Well it's late here and i got to turn in got to get this elephant in her jammies. Do you know it took 3 king size sheets and 20 rolls of thread to make them and i slam burn't up my sewin machine. Well it was less material than the tube top i made her. C'mon Ellie we gotta go night night and i'll read the dumbo story again {she just loves it when i read to her} Well Good Night and god bless you all and your chickens and may all your eggs hatch your roosters be fertile and your pens full of the most beautiful birds GOOD NIGHT!!! *Harmony*

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

wow how do you write with pens full of birds... brain works funny at 2 am.. took a minute to figure that out.. all I wanted in my pen was a little ink but NOooo Harmony had to give me a bird.. oh well.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

LOL Fran, didn't you know that the bird in the pen just makes the ink come out better?

Clarksburg, MO

I thought birds in the pen meant you didn't have money for ink

Sheila

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

ROTFL....true enough! I just ran out of layer pellets this morning. Guess I'm gonna have to go stand on a street corner and sing...

Clarkson, KY

Sing for your supper and you'll get breakfast, songbirds always eeeeat.

(Zone 7b)

Good Mornin and I'm southern and we call coops/cages Pens and thats not funny.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

I call them pens too Harmony! Well, the outdoor part anyway. Just havin' fun with it!

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

me too.. but at 2 am.. I was thinkin ink pen... geez, have we lost our sense of humor here or what???

Clarkson, KY

Just think what would happen if we hit 'pen feathers' -yesIknowit'smisspelled;)

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

I definitely have my sense of humor intact! I was laughin'

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

yep claire have a vision of the poor little chicken trying to blow the ink out the end of the pen for me apoligizing profusly for getting a feather in it while trying to fit as many birds in it as possible.. kind of like a VW bug college prank.

Welcome to my cartoon mind.. and nope, it doesn't have to be 2 am..

You know there are those beautiful "real" feather pens - the ones with the big long quill feather and the pointy end. My grandfather used to have one and he would dip it in ink. I don't know what kind of feather it was but it was very soft and poofy looking. Maybe an ostrich feather?

Harmony - we love your southern hospitality!
