(distant laughter...cackling type laughter....almost like a chicken....)
Missouri ChickenStock at Jacob's Cave.
Now that smacks of cannibalism...
Cannibalism?
Graham wafer, chocolate, marshmallow.
Hmmm...
Are you callin' me a marshmallow? I'm not THAT overweight!
I saw that now. I think it is a little sick and twisted. will have to have a chat with her. I think if you discuss the chickens as food before they hatch it will decrease your hatch percentage. Something to ponder......
Sheila
Commander Moxon popping in to advice Mission SMORE has been changed to Mission ROMES. Some of you just don't get acronyms. Geesh.
R = seRama
O = OEG
M = Millie
E = Easter Egger
S = Silkie
Beauuuuty-Dig in to the chocolate and graham cracker, um and marshmallow.
Okay I will admit I am a little slow sometimes. But thought I would offer my advice. Seems little eggys don't like talk of scrambled eggs. Glad I recognize the acronym now. Commander Moxon off the hook for negative hatch talk.
Demerits are reinstated and she now has full authority to continue on the mission.
Panther Creek Outpost signing off......
Um, maybe we shouldn't take picks! ......Evil Grin....... I'm not very photogenic while intoxicated.
Picture time will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sufficient time to recover from the night before and prior to beginning that evenings festivities.

Yay! Cheese!!! I bet you could turn the styro ice chest thing into a 'bator!!
lol 1st words out of my mouth when I seen it. I have ordered cheese from them before and they didnt send it in a styro thing before.
'Bators from Heaven'
It was meant to beeee.

sad tf
Weren't they already separated out somewhat?
well, NOW they seem to be...
Hey guys I got some more info on the chickenfest, Saturday. I found out that you can have a spot for the whole weekend for $25.00. We are going down Wednesday night to make sure we get a good spot. I would love for all of us to get spots together and we would be happy to reserve them, but also understand if you don't want to pay the whole $25.00 if you are only coming for a day or so. I just need to know who would like a spot and how big. If you want a spot reserved we will pay up front and you'll can get us back when you get there.
I have found out that the few spots with electricity are out in the middle and in the direct sun all day. We are planning to get on the one of the roads that has trees along it and will provide us at least some shade.
Just let me know what you want us to do.
Sheila
I know I want as much shade as possible. But it will be cooler up there so who knows. I will let you know when I know more.
Not by much, Ti -never was when we were through there anyway. They just have nicer rest areas..
okie dokie. thanks.
Okay, 5 sleeps (nights)til we leave for jacob's cave, as my daughter would say. Right now I have plans to save a spot for Luvs and my understanding is that Claire and hubby will only be coming for Saturay.
Claire will you need a chicken selling spot or coming for the fun?
Patch are you coming? If so what days? and do you want us to save you a spot??
Again we are going Wednesday night and getting spots? 25 dollars for the weekend. Rough camping (no facilities except portapotties and water hydrants) generaters allowed.
I am soooo excited I could wet myself. If I have left anybody out please let me know.
Sheila
Bad news kiddos. I can not make it. To make a very long story short. I have to take care of my sister that is handicapped, her care giver may have TB. That is scary enough in its self. Plus I dont have the finances to do it either. I want to be there so bad. I am so truly sorry. I will make it next year. Plus with all the added things going on here gotta get my birds in order. I will be living at my moms and traveling back and forth to take care of my birds. Hubby is REAL HAPPY about that.
Save me a piece of chocolate and a glass of wine. I will save the cheese for ya. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
I have not even cut into it yet. I have threatened everyone here touch it you die. Now I guess I gotta sneak a bite now and then.
Oh gosh. I feel so bad. I am going to try everything I possibly can to TRY to be there at least for a night and part of a day. No one can handle my sister except her caregiver, my mom and me. Maybe we can get some news this week that she will live???????????? Another story!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh Luvs, I am disappointed for you. I so wanted to meet you and msorry tha yu a things, come up. If you decide to come up for a night you are welcome to stay with us...... just pack your jammies and come on. You have to come get your BR pullets and bringggggg my trio.
sHEILA
Sorry for the cryptic message. My computer was locking up on me. The jist of it is this. If you want to come and not pack a lot, you are welcome to stay with us in the camper.
Claire - are you and hubby still coming??
Patch???
I don't want to be the only one WWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!
Sheila
(pouting in the corner)
Yes yes yes, we are still coming! Chicken dance here! I don't need a chicken selling spot. I might buy a couple. Kelly will probably try to stop me. I could bring a few chicks for you Sheila!
We are going to stay in KC Friday night, come down on Saturday, stay Saturday night, and head home sometime on Sunday. I was thinking we might stay at that nice B&B you told me about but not sure how late we will be on Saturday so maybe we will just do the hotel thing.
Totally bummed about Luvs, but I understand about family obligations. Even if you just come for the afternoon Tia, it would be super. I gotta get my aeroplane!
Grownut? Fran? Patchouli? Anyone else?
Wow all....I'm just leaning about this. I just googled it and it would only be 179 miles for me and an easy drive and lord knows I have birds.......but I can't come either. WAAAAHHHHH! Very tight $$$ and all. Oh, it sounds like sooo much fun. Sheila....did you say they have this in the spring too? Maybe I could plan on doing it then or next year. Oh...camping in the fall and all the bird folks to meet and meeting all you DG'ers that will be there.....I can't wait!
Tia....I sure hope you found a way to go. I'm so sorry about everything going on.
Christy
As much as I was looking forward to this.. I think I too am going to beg out.. I think the economy isn't just on the news.. it is in everyones pocket!
Hopefully next year will be better and a mini vaction will be in our cards. as for now, we shall enjoy our blessings and hang on tight with both hands.
Fran
I totally understand the economy. We are the same way. It's just little closer for us. Yes Christy, there is a swap in the spring also. Everybody needs to plan for the spring if they can;t make this one.
Just to tempt you. Claire and I are going to have so much fun eating cheese, chocolate and chasing with wine and beer. There are over 200 booths with animals galore.
Now lets see how many are going to come, Claire.
Sheila
Also if my sis's caregiver DOES have TB, isnt it contagious? I would hate for that. I sure hope she finds out soon. OMG I just hate not knowing. I want to be there so so so bad. Maybe I can still get the birds there tho.
Poteau Oklahoma has a chicken stock the end of October, it is just a bit south and west of Ft smith AR. I think I might be able to make that one.
Apparently I should've booked a bus to go around and pick everybody up and then set up a whole bunch of tents. That way nobody would be worried about the finances of it. I just didn't know far enough in advance!
Sorry about the TB thing Tia, that's terrible. It can be contagious, especially certain forms of it, but I doubt you would have it unless you've been spending a lot of close time with her caregiver. Why does the caregiver think she has it? Was she just exposed to it or is she symptomatic?
Fran - sorry to hear you can't make it either. I was looking forward to meeting you because you're the chicken head who is closest to me, geographically speaking, I think?
Ladybugs - want me to Paypal you gas money?
Claire
The doctors said she "may" have it. she has most of the symptoms but not all. They did rule out cancer. I just hope it is not contagious. My sister spends alot of time with her and I spend alot of time with my sister.
Claire, you I do not worry about... you are a weekend visit.. in fact.. the back-up company we are looking at is in Iowa.. and we have been a few times to visit.. so not to worry.. and BILs family owns land in Memphis MO which is just south of you.. they hunt every fall there, night have to tag along soon..
Just right now is not the right time... must do the right things and get ourselves together..
LuvstoGarden they should know if she has it within three days. The nurse will do a TB exposure test which is an injection under the skin (intradermal). If she's positive, they would know after she comes back in several days.. They can tell by looking at the injection site if she's been exposed. They'd probably repeat the test if she came up positive the first time.
I hope you all know I was just kidding about the pressure to come thing. I TOTALLY understand when things just can't work out. I was just joshing. Don't want anyone to think I am sore over them not coming. Just would love to have any and all there.
Sheila
Claire...you are such a sweetheart to offer, but I can't accept. As much as I would love to go this time we will have to do it under our own steam....if that makes sense. I'll D-mail you. Thank you so much for offering...it really means a lot!
Fran....you might be going to Memphis, Mo? And Claire is close, huh? Oh boy.....I am only 42 miles from Memphis, Mo! I just googled the route it said Claire could take and at one point (by Queen City) that's only 20 miles from my house. Not the swap for sure, but maybe another way some more of us could meet. Watcha think?
Tia....I can't believe she is a care giver and hadn't been tested before she was able to get the job. I'm in the CNA program as a pre-req for the nursing program and we can't even go to clinicals at a nursing home until we have been tested not once, but twice. I guess now they are wanting to make double sure you don't have it. That's a 9 day set...you get one shot, come back a week later and get the second (if there is no reaction from the 1st) and they read it within 72 hours. Patch is right....with only the 1st shot, they would know within 3 days if she has it. From what I understand there can be several reasons a person might show a positive result so if 'shot spot' gets red (I think swollen and a red ring) they know to look farther to see if it really is TB. I just can't she wasn't tested before she was allowed to be a care giver. I sure hope you find out something soon!
Oh yeah.....I told my DH about the swap and he said it sounds like a total blast! (yeah) I know we will be making one at some point. I hope you all that get to go have so much fun...make sure to take lots and lots of pics so we can all see.
Christy
