Yes, still exhausted from trip to Canada and NOT a happy camper with all the activity in the Atlantic.
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #57 visit with friends...

have enjoyed all your pictures and storys!

Wow!--Had a lot of catching up to do. Could not get "on" my computer last night.
I have been having problems with my DSL Modem acting up. Almost every day--I am disconnected--and I have to go through all kinds of unplug this and unplug that---turn on this and turn on that---Press the reset button----etc....
I have been in contact with the Earthlink "Help" on-line chat and on the phones twice. Can't understand anything they are saying......Too long a story to complain about here--so I won't. Besides--I might be deemed "prejudiced"......
Received my new Modem today, which almost took an arm and a leg to get Earthling to send it to me! Had to aagree to another 12 months of service with them to get it free.....Geesh! I have already had them for 5 years! Why would they worry if I want to stay with them???????????? Hmmmm.....
Mark will come tomorrow and hook it up. Thankfully, I have him to come here and fix all kinds of computer problems!
It is NOT just me--the lady downstairs, Connie, cannot get on her computer at all. I got a Router when she moved in, as she was now a second computer in my house. It has been hooked up and she was OK--but now with all this DSL Modem problems, she cannot. SO--I think something is wrong with her computer, which has not worked in weeks. She CAN use her laptop now and then--but usually NOT! Lke tonight--I finally got everything to work. All the little lights on my Modem are on--once again.....I am ON--and chatting with you--but Connie cannot get on. I feel bad for all this......
Anyway---------
Betty--I am SO glad your head is turning to more healthy snacks!!!! Happy!!!! From all I always read here--you are always eating out--stopping here and there---all that greasy, salty food-- aka as "junk food"....I know I lecture you--BUT, you really need to stop it! Hear!!! Hear!!!!
Cook your own dinners in quantity when you MAKE the time-- and then freeze them. Make a lot of soups! Throw everything and anything in a big pot and let it simmer away--then go do whatever you need to do. You will have meals for weeks!
Take crunchy, snacky foods to munch on. I like carrots and Almonds and grapes and such.
I once read that Type-A people (like you and me) "need" crunchy foods to satisfy them. That does NOT include Fritos and Doritos and Chips or Pretzels! Apples crunch! Pears, sort of, crunch! Granola Cerial certainly crunches! Add some raisins and bananas for the Potassium. Blueberries for the antioxidents.....Peaches taste great in milk and cereal!
If you must run--grab a healthy Granola bar. Eat S-L-O-W-L-Y!!!!!! It takes the brain a full 20 minutes to realize that you are getting full. If you 'devour" your meal in 10n minutes--your body never gets a chance to say: "STOP! I am full!!!".....
Try eating piles and piles of fresh melons of all kinds with Vanilla yogurt and any kind of vegetables in their raw form.
Get away from anything deep fried, frozen dinners, and Burgers of any kind. Dump the Keiser rolls and white bread! Go for Whole Wheat and multi-grains.....
Ever check the food content of a Frozen Pizza??? A can of Cambell's Soup????
ALL canned foods have HUGE amounts of Sodium! That is what preserves them on a shelf! Besides--they taste like---canned foods! Yuk!
I know I have been through all this with you before----It is just that I DO care--and you DO seem to have problems with your digestive system. Why not just S-T-O-P and enjoy the food as it should be???? WHY always stop at some "Grease Joint" and eat their offerings on a run? Sit! Savor! Chew! Slowly--enjoy your meal!
This time of year--my breakfast is a Multi-grained slice of rye bread with a bit of mayo and a tomato slab on it. Maybe also a bit of sliced Avocado. Sometimes I fry an egg and do that. Sometimes I sprinkle a bit of grated Parmesan cheese over the "slab" of tomato, toast it, and eat it that way. A cup of OJ or Apple Cider--and I am set for the day.
Lunch today was 6 meatballs I made for a cook out yesterday and a big tossed salad with ranch dressing--and cut up Honey-Dew Melon for desert.
Believe me! In time you will LOVE these kinds of food and hate the "junk" ones---AND, you will lose weight and be healthier for it.
OK! End of lecture #57......I hope I am forgiven.......once more.....
Love, Gita
Seems I'm always lead to read just the thread I need today. The poem about the lady reminds me of my friend who was buried this morning. I didn't even know she had died until I read her obiturary in the paper this afternoon. She was my age, 53. We were childhood friends, spend the night buddies, ride a round the DQ one thousand times every Sat night. She moved to Atlanta after high school but we kept in touch, mailing each other even as we both got married, then both had kids. She did move back to Cordele years later though. Worked here as a legal secretary and came home from work one afternoon with a terrible headache. Later that night, her girls found her incorherent on the sofa. That was 15 years ago. She had a severe anurism (sp) that left her a walking sombie and has been a ward of the state living in the nursing home. No longer able to eat, swalllow or speak. She had a far away glassy-eyed stare. Scooted her feet as she walked the halls. She knew me though, when I last went to see her. I'm just so sure of it. The nurses said she couldn't possibly know me. I regret I didn't visit her more than I did. Mostly when it was convienent for me. I feel so bad.
Oh Deborah, how sad. I understand how you feel.
Thank you, Marion. Some will probably think it's terrible for me to say, but her death is a blessing. With no quality of earthly life, she is now back with her Father and is a beautiful Angel.
Not terrible Deborah, it hurts terribly to see someone you love live in pain, when that happens although difficult we can only pray that they be taken to live with their Maker...
We all have regrets once loved ones die, but we are human and do what we can do...at least, regardless of how many times and when you visited, you did visit...that's something...no tears, know your friend would not wish you to do so...perhaps a plant in the garden in her memory where you can talk to her from time to time would be nice...so terribly sorry about your loss...
Liz, worried about you...didn't get any d-mails over the weekend..I'm so praying for you both..do not put yourself in a corner though, we love you and we are here for you, isn't that what friends are for?? surely we've bonded all of us not just for the gardening but for the fact that at in a split second without hesitation the other would be by our sides with compassion and understanding...now girl, you put down that cigarette, you've come so far not smoking, don't let this get the better of you...you can do it, just know you can....
Carol, hoping today will be another 'smokeless' day! sending prayers..
Gita, will try to get on the right track food wise - promise, always appreciate your words..glad you got the computer back up and running..boy don't we miss it when it's down..
Should have cleaned the craft room last night but thought I'd do it this morning, now it's a chore..girls won't be able to find the tables if I don't get moving..projects from one end of the tables to the others...lol...I sure am a 'messy' creator...
All others, I'm waving, hoping you'll drop by today for a visit...
Deborah,
I am so very sorry to hear. A warm hug sent to you.
Liz, Glad to see you! It is good to get away from the stress and do your own thing.
LOL, smokinking aint your thing, so put em back down and pick a craft to play with.
will talk to ya later...Hope your evening went well.
Gita, glad you got your computer back, frustrating.
Marion, glad you are home, hope this storm blows out soon.
Well got to get ready for work...see you all later.
Good morning all. Betty, I concur with everything you said above!!
Judy, I hope these storms move elsewhere also. In fact I think everyone is getting tired of this but it goes with Florida.
Heard Marion that you are being hit pretty hard and it's headed north east...will you also be affected by the string of them that are moving in?I can well imagine how you all must be feeling, waiting for the shoe to drop? much like when we have weeks of bad snow/blizzard/freezing rain...not wanting to venture out...you'll no sooner get organized weather wise and it will be me going through another difficult winter!
Moving us over....
