Just dropping in to say 'morning' leaving for the city, boys all excited....wasn't smart when I planned my day, found out last night when I contacted Medeival Times Dinner Theatre that they only have 1 show and it's at 7:15pm which means an entire day to fill in at Exhibition, then the 2 hr. show then a 2 - 2 1/2 hr. drive home, so guess who will be tired for work tomorrow...

Do cross your fingers that Paul today tells everyone not to come in tomorrow morning as we only work 4 hrs. and it's the long weekend...they can switch the telephone to my home..wouldn't that be an answer to my prayer..

Exverything is packed..filled my wallet with $$$ and by the time I pay for ride passes, entrance, Medieval Times, food and parking - well I could probably feed a family for a few weeks, seems such a waste, but, each summer I take the 4 of them, but that's what making memories is all about right...

Thought I'd show you a couple of photo's from yesterday..

Girls busy at work, waiting for pizza to arrive..

Funny, I used the phrase 'got to get myself a life' and all spoke up, that they've never seen anyone with a more fuller like than I...different views...I sometimes thing my life isn't truly exciting, but guess it is...lol

another photo..George doing a rock floormat for his wife and Darlene showing him how to put depth into the rocks..he's a dear, loves being with all us women and truly does nice work..

One last one before I must run...

June always buys t.v. tables and paints the top..have no idea where she puts them all, know she gives many away...this is her last endeavour..remember now, these ladies just took up painting several years ago as a past time at the seniors group I organized...it's been a godsend to them...

Enjoy your day everyone...

Hello to all - Sounds like everyone is doing okay, if not on top of the world. ha-ha It is always a hard fall if we have been on top of the world, so better save that for a better man than myself.

The past two threads that I have been reading this morning, I have gotten up during the middle and then get back and forget most of all that I just read. That means that I don't have much to comment on today. I am glad to have some newcomers within our midst. Welcome all.

Well, off to do some chores. I hope that everyone will ahve a good day.

Morning, yep it is morning, just got in from the Canadian National Exhibition and Medieval Times ..wonderful day..know sons and DIL's don't believe it, but didn't have to say a word once..they know this old grandma doesn't play around, I'll give them the world but in exchange, it's good manners, no fighting, no fooling around, just have a great day-which we all did..took mega pictures but if you look at the time, I've but 4 hrs to sleep and it's a start to another day, another trip to the city and best of all, 4 hrs work and then long weekend..

Do hope you all enjoyed your day!

(Judi)Portland, OR

Betty I love the photo "girls busy at work" - makes me want to be there!

Crozet, VA

It does sound as though you all had a good day Betty. I am glad to hear it. It is really nice that you and boys have this tradition of attending this Expo each year. Something for everyone to look forward to and to talk about afterwards. I cannot wait to begin having some traditions to share with Emily. I am sure that whatever we end up doing together it will be either flower or jewelry related. ha-ha Nah, I will wait and see what sorts of interests she develops and will try to enjoy them myself. Who knows what the next few years will bring in terms of technology and what is available in terms of entertainment.

Emily's dad Ben plays bass guitar and upright bass. He is talking about buying a small violin for her at some point and the two of them taking lessons. I hope that she will develop a musical interest with him. They could have some really good times playing together. He did recently purchase what looks like a rather expensive keyboard. Not sure who plays that at their home, unless Nikki does.

Happy Friday morning to everyone. I hope that you all have some good plans for the long weekend. We head out on vacation on Sunday, but hopefully I will be able to use our laptap and stay in touch with you great people. Take care all.

Morning all,

Ruby..it is fascinating to watch your granchildren grow and see what direction they take in life..what talents they have and their different personalities.
I have six Grandkids...ranging from 10 to 22.

Rain here ..and showers are predicted for the whole day.
Going to another gathering of old work friends today..I am bringing thinly sliced roast beef and deviled eggs.
I just took the roast beef out of oven and will let it cool and slice it thin on the meat slicer.

Yesterday must have been fun for you and the boys Betty.
It was a fallish kind of day here yesterday....not too hot to wander the Exhibition.
Look forward to seeing some photos..
Betty do you go on any rides with the boys. Did you enjoy Medieval Times? I have been twice..once in the U.S. in Myrtle Beach..and once here at the EX...as we all call it. I just remembered what everyone used to say.."Meet you at the Princess Gates"..(that is the main entrance..and if you got lost..or had to meet friends..that was the place to meet.)

Have a good day everyone.

Cheers,
Carol

Crozet, VA

Alright Carol and Betty. Tell us more about the Expo please. I have an idea in my mind, but may be way off. I am sure that Betty's pics will give better explanation, but I am interested in hearing what you have to say about it too.

Morning, had to drive in on my own this morning, tired/tired..it's a rainy dark gloomy day today but they promise that by this evening the front will move out and it will be sunshine all weekend...so here's hoping..

Just Wayne and I today so it's quiet, I'll try to nap for an hour or so..just when I can I know I'll not be able to..

Ruby, we do not make the trip to the Exhibition yearly, each year we pick somewhere to go..last was for 3 days at Fantasy Island Theme Park in N.Y. - we talked yesterday and we're hoping to do the same 3 days at Darien Lake..believe me when all is said and done it probably would have been cheaper ..yesterday was a mega $$$ day..spent about $100 more than my budget..

Must tell you all though, and you probably will think I'm being sappy, but as I sat with those 4 boys at Medieval Time and saw the awe and the fun times of that day, I shed a tear for Roger who missed so much not knowing any of them and a tear and prayer for thanking the Lord for enabling me to be able to do these things...welled up a few times...wonder why we get so emotional at times..

Princess Gates, yep Carol, that usually is the meeting place..so much has changed..thought the Hockey Hall of Fame was still on site but they've moved it, boys being hockey players would have loved it, but there is so much to do that you cannot do it in one day...I didn't get into the Arts/Craft Building, Garden & Home Building..but that's ok. it was their day...

Because of the Olympics in Bejing, Ontario Place was transformed into a 'Garden of Light' wouldn't mind if it's still on for the remainder of this season, to take a trip down, see the light display and the electric parade..

This display was made with porcelain dinnerware

Ruby, this is the Canadian National Exhibition's 130th year celebration..there was much to do...best way to describe it I'm sure is that it must be as your 'state fairs'..not having been to one it's what I imagine..it will end on Monday... always starts about the 2nd week in August and ends Labour Day, day before school here resumes...it's been a tradition for my family as I'm sure for most within driving to visit 'the Ex' ...

Now where are you off to Ruby on your vacation?

Carol, the boys tell me that when they are grown and with families, we'll still do our 'outing' wonder how many years they think 'grandma' can hold out..lol

(Judi)Portland, OR

Betty those boys are cute cute cute. I love the photo of them being so awed by the show. I also like the photo of the modern building (I'm an architect).

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you enjoyed, think I may have a few others of Ontario Place, really quite ultra modern or at least it was when it was built..

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Oh..that was fun to see Betty..I forgot how lovely the waterfront and Ontario Place is in Toronto.
Thanks for those pics..and I would love to see more.

As for going on outings with your boys and their families..well I'll bet you will still be "up for it"
Only by then,... they can pay....LOL..let them treat you...

Cheers,
Carol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol, now wouldn't that be a treat - them treat 'grandma' wonder which one will be pushing the wheelchair? lol

'memories' that these children gather on such outings are priceless!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

That's for sure!!!!!!!!

Don't know without going back to Wednesday if I told you about this, remember Cathy came the week before last and knocked down and sprayed that big ' wasp' nest, well hello, it's back and they've made it even larger...how so???

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Wanted to share this DG site with you. I never knew where it "resided".....But--then, I don't know a lot of things---just spend my time on same-old....same old Threads.....

"Farmerdill" posted this on the "Garden Talk" Forum.

Here are a gadzillion designs for seed packets.....IF you like to share seeds and add a little class.

Forgot....

Betty--a quick fix for your glasses.....I assume the little screw fell out?

I am sure, at home, you have some of that green-wired garden ties that come on a roll and you cut off whatever you need? Take a small piece of it, strip off the green plastic and thread the wire through the small hinge where the "arm" of the temple piece meets the holes of the frame. Twist it tight and clip off the ends....Voila!

Of course--I imagine you have all kinds of wire home anyway....

Wow, how fun!! I'm so glad ya'll had a good time! Looks like fun, and how pretty! I would love to go do that someday.

Betty, I don't know anything about wasps, other than they're extremely difficult to get rid of. If you are inclined to, maybe you should call an exterminator. They can kill all of them so the colony can't rebuild.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks for the tip Gita, no lost the entire arm and yes a screw came out so they put the lenses in new frames, so I'm able to see again..

Crissy, how's the vacation going???

Yes, next trip you'll have to cross the border and head my way...

Still so dull out there, 1 1/2 hrs. left..just dragging, sitting here looking at those santa faces that need eyes and wondering if I have but one more zap of energy to finish them..lol too late to have a nap now..just dread the ride home, would imagine it will be bumper to bumper...

Glenview, IL

Good Day!

Betty, I'm getting caught up...it's Friday and hardly anyone here, so its really quiet, i am anxious to get out of here too. Steve said he was going to try and finish up early as well.

Well, work front has picked up considerably for which I am grateful. Kids are all now into a daily routine...so cute, they each have a desk and now reorganized their rooms so they can use the desks for homework and not dust and clutter...I also, de-cluttered off my craft table...woohoo, i am ready for the Santa workshop, got everything on the list! Still need to get 4 other fabrics, going camping this weekend and there is a Ben Franklin, I am so excited haven't been to one in absolute years. (It's like a 5 & dime) kind of store. i think they have material so will have fun checking that out.

On the homefront, I have been spending some alonetime with a fire. Enjoying the activity in my yard. With the exception of neighbors cats! He has invited his brother to hunt in my yard so, now I have 2 cats prowling the birds. I don't know how to keep them away and it is getting frustrating to have to keep my doors closed in fear they will get into my house. I know you are all cat people and i think cats are great, as long as they stay in there own yards. I saw a bird jumping around in my tree and he looked as though he was badly wounded. I have asked the neighbor to please keep the cats in there yard but thats not working to well. sigh, they just escape....Then observed a young racoon climb the neighbors shed and hurry into an opening, guess thats where it is living. Dh asked neighbor if they knew they were there and they did, I wasn't crazy to hear the response so will just have to not pay attention to what they do to their property.

...So Good to see you are all busy. Betty, what a fun day, you shared with the Boys. Also loved the photos from the day. Love the Water display.

Will be back later, Hopefully to see some more photo's of your day.

Carol, enjoy your get together with friends!

Hi Crissy, Hope your having a good time on your vacation.

Ruby, Your so cute...Well we are just glad that you come and say hello. It's so nice to hear about children growing up....Oh where are you going on vacation?

Judi, How cool your an architect! I really love looking at buildings and seeing how they are built. Especially old ones. The modern one I have re-wrap my head around the design.

Lizzzzz....Hello, come out and play...

Laura, was good seeing you too. Always is. Got your d-mail, be glad to!

Hey we Haven't heard from Dawn...Sister D, where are you? How the new job going? And are you a grandma yet??? Hope all is well with you.

Hope everyone is doing well, and have lots of good plans for the weekend, woohoo a long one too...Ok really I gotta go now, see you later.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hello everyone, I'm just off to bed, been 2 extra long busy days and I really could use some rest...

Judy, got a kick out of your cats...cats do love birds, I get ill when I find an odd one on my deck but they tell me it's part of nature..still don't like it though..

How wonderful you managed to get your materials, you are WAY ahead of the game..lol..but that's ok..

Massive cleaning you guys, what prompted that, girls just getting older I guess...

Not going to gab long, so much I want to accomplish this weekend but all will depend on my having the energy..

wow, had all those beautiful rhubbarb leave walkway and sod had almost but covered them as did the stairs going up into the garden so spent since I got home digging up sod, looks much better, guess now I need a bit of white stone...another project for tomorrow..my thoughts for the weekend is to finish the mosaic bench (probably not more than a couple hours work) the friendship sign for over the doors of shed (think they are too big, not a problem I'll find it a home and do another) of course the 10 marker signs (that's high priority) but then I've 3 days, if I can't accomplish that much better stay in bed..lol..

Michelle's (Bernice's daughter) 2 children just dropped in to ask if they can play in my backyard, so let Sailor out to join them...I've got spaghetti & meatballs cooking in slow cooker as I've company coming tomorrow and if they go out to eat well I'll freeze it for meeeee...love spaghetti..make a good one too...

Got a lovely box of plants from Echoes this afternoon, came from Manitoba, quite a distance but am sure they'll survive as they are none the worse for shipping..she must have shipped many times before..these will be put in the friendship garden..just excited about that...didn't want to shock them so put them in containers, watered and now tomorrow morning I'll plant them, didn't want to shock them from box to ground..

Ok, know you were all being kind to ask for more photo's and yet still knowing this, I'll post a few more while I unwind and head to bed..shuck got that ear infection going again, need to put more drops before bed, must have been the wind on the bay...

Now here is my little prince getting Knighted...

Let me introduce you to my boys...

Kyle, Kyle carried the weight of the world on his shoulders, very much like his father, don't think Greg was ever a care free child..worried about everything and everyone...

Kyle joined Cadets last Wednesday and is looking forward to what this group has to offer...on Thursday nights he had golf lessons at Oar Lake Golf Course..loves to be active..only 12 and has his snowmobile licence/boating licence (here for both of these you must be 12) so talk about excited when that day came...
