She's About to....... #12

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

ok need some advice from my hottie sisses. My old boss has invited me to come and see Jorge from animal planet's "groomer has it" . The problem is...... I made an appt for a groom same day same time. I really want to go to get some private groom pointers from him ( part of the invite) and get a picture taken with him for the shop. My hubbie says I should not call and reschedule the groom being a new business. I say I call and offer her a discount for the inconvenience and reschedule. This opportunity will NEVER come to me again. What do you think???

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my, never noticed the bud? I go and search for new buds, or okra, several times a day. Nothing yet. Just lots of okra growing on my datura. I can't wait for it to bloom. I told hubby, when she starts to bloom, I will pull it out from the corner of the garden, right in front of the porch swing, so we can sit there and just gawk at her!!! LOL

Linda Kay

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is a tough decision, but I think the new customer will totally understand if you re-scheduled her. Give her a discount or something, and she will be happy.
Just my thoughts.
Linda Kay

(Cathy), MO

I would do the same. Call the customer, explain, and reschedule, giving her a discount for the trouble.

LOL, Jan! That is funny! Thanks for sharing with us. Sure brought a big smile to my face here at work (cuz they'd question what I was LOLing about if I really did LOL, but I wanted to) I thought the bulblet would stay on top of the soil more... wish I could have seen your face as you were realizing what the "weeds" were. :) What a pleasant surprise to find blooms before buds! NEWBIE HOTTIE ALERT: Go inspect your plants... might find something hiding... And to find big buds, it sure cuts the wait time down! Congratulations to you..I had to go find a pic of your Solid Gold - AH - PRETTY! I like that shade of yellow, not too light, not too dark, just right! Hey Hotties,
I was lurking most of the day and nothing, I had to train someone this afternoon and I miss all this. Jan to funny, I weeded out some DL’s once and I was not happy. Congrats on the bloom. Linda Kay so glad you have buds on the Datura she will be sooooooo pretty and give you something to look at while you waiting on the Burgs. Louise, I defiantly would try and reschedule, just explain and give her what ever will make her happy. I’ve got dogs and I would understand. Oh goodness AuntB you have another beautiful Hib, yes very girly, I love that one too, but I love them all. Becky, go easy on the weeding ya never know what could be in there. As for me I got another bud open on the same plant and one on another E-pink that is opening tonight. NOL dropped a couple of buds today; I found them in the pot. She is a strange one, so dark green. She has about 12 buds on her, I hope they make it. JJ has had a Y for about 2 weeks and nothing, he has a side shoot that’s growing like crazy though, maybe I should cut it off. Yes?

Wow, she looks so tall like a big stick!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Phyllis.. is that one of the ones you seperated?? She sure is tall!! Mine are getting tall too.. just no blooms.. or buds..lol... I looked today.. I have been "ignoring" them...

Clemie... must be nice to know 3 languages.. I only know English, and sometimes I can murder that!

Night Linda Kay and Donna...

Bonnie.. that hibiscus IS really pretty!! Gosh you have sooo many gorgeous plants!! I have to keep reminding myself that I really just got overly addicted this spring... ain't it wonderful?? The addiction that is..

Yeah... nobodies home here tonight.. hope all is having fun!!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Oh Beckie but you manage your language so well, I get confused most of the time! And when I was trying to learn ITALIANO, forget it! it was worse, I gave up!

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Yeah she's about as tall as me...she's the momma...
the one with all the roots...She only had one big leaf left..after I seperated them...
I finally removed it cause it looked silly...
She's now getting some green back....
Should I let it all grow in or prune some of them....
The others didn't lose their leaves like she did...
And their not filling out like her either...
I think she's gonna look pretty as full as she's getting...LOL

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I do! He is so cute with his mini me. Su perro es lindo!
Did your cereus bloom again?

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Louise, sorry I'm kicking in so late.

On your dilemma, I would suggest you ask to bring your already scheduled groom to meet with "The Groomer" and get both done at once. your customer gets taken care of and you learn. (maybe). You will probably be able to show "The Groomer" a thing or two. He has not had an "emergency dirty dog situation" in years. I would not reschedule the customer who will be around much longer after "The Groomer" is gone. My 1.5 cents, said with love, okay?

Hottie sisters, I am sorry I can't be around too much right now. I love the new brug blooms (trying not to be jealous, trying real hard). I dreamed last night I was at the RU with Beck, and Keith called me to tell me one of my brugs was blooming and I had the camera in Texas. That was all of the dream, because I woke up upset, trying to figure out what to do. :)

Anyway, I will have the camera and computer in Texas, so get ready for some pics. I wish we all could be there. Hugs, Peg

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

LOLOL... Peg... that would be our luck..right?? Me No Blooms either... BTW... I'll have my camera too.. and I like to sneak up on people...LOL

Clemie... I am from the south... REAL Southern.. I promise.. I have that "Twang" or "Drawl" bad!! BUT I will say.. I learned more of the twang living in TN!! Not many tawk laake eye dew... hehehehe... Copo is sooo cute.. and well loved... how do you get the brown off from around his eyes?? Or does he have it? My Pom looks like she has black eyes.. and I can't stand to get the soap in her eyes...BTW

Louise.. can you share a secret.. since I live sooo far away... I read human shampoo works as well as the dog shampoo. I do bathe mine in baby shampoo.. Am I doing something bad by not using the dog shampoo? It'll kill the fleas too if they have one on them. What do you use to get the brown out from around the white fur dogs?? AND... HOW.. do you get the matted hair out without shaving them?? I have cut some of them out a lil.. but she is a pain sometimes.. and sometimes I just don't brush her like I should..

Linda Kay.. that is a beautiful Hibiscus!! If it's a hardy one I sure would LUV for you to bring me cuttings at the T RU...PLEASE???? Have you decided if you will be able to make the A RU also?? Your brugs look sooo good!!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Becky use dog shampoo. Different PH from human shampoo. Most dogs will be ok with it, but if there are skin issues then they can get worse. Baby shampoo is mild so you will be ok. The vets have a new internal treatment for eye stains. It really works too. You can use tear stain remover but that has to be used on the dog every day. Once those stains are there they have to be cut out. For show dogs they use cover stick and chalk to hide them. The excessive tearing on some breeds literally chemically burns the hair. Thanks for all the advice sissies!

Good morning!

Beckie that's why I like you so much, I love southerners, so welcoming! My Copo and his stains, well Louise is the expert, but I do groomed Copo myself every one to two weeks apart and cut out the brown stains. I also try to keep his eyes clear of any hair. I don't know if that is why is eyes are so clean. My daughters and I are alwyas on top on him beeing clean.

Love that Spanish vine, tried to plant some seeds this SApring and it was a disaster!

Have a nice day! Clem

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't know the name of my hibiscus. I bought 2 of them at wal-mart earlier this year. I will bring one, and anyone can have cuttings from it if they want.
I will be having my first foot surgery on 12 Sept. That should put me at 4 weeks for healing when the round up comes around, so I am going to do my best to be there. I may be hobbling around, or use my dads electric scooter, but i will do my best.
Linda Kay

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Morning Hotties, even if it will be afternoon by the time I get this posted.
Clem, Copo is adorable as always, love his little me with him.
Linda Kay, Love the orange hib, looks like quite a line up of Burgs there.
I am so confused on the RU’s ya’ll are taking about. Is it all the same one, or more than one. I think I’m losing it or my geography is way off but TX seem like a long drive from NE. Okay, I acutallly looked the map and maybe it’s not that far. I’ve driven from RI to Chicago in under 24 hours so I guess it depends on where it’s located.

(Cathy), MO

Morning everyone! No change in my blooms last night, except they were all wide open. Still with a tinge of pink. They don't seem to have alot of smell. A tiny bit spicy, but you have to really stick your nose in the middle of the bloom to smell anything. I'll just keep sniffing my double tuberose until another one blooms!

There are roundups all over the place Donna. MO has one coming up Sept 27th. I think TX has several, in different sections of the state. And some people do drive to other states round ups.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

There are two round ups coming on 11 Oct. it is a little east of dallas, in Tyler Texas, and the following week-end, there is one in Arlington, Tx. I am going to the one in Tyler. it will be my first round up, so I am really looking forward to it.

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/

Go here, then scroll down to the right hand side where it says round ups. You will find lots of info there.

Linda Kay

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Thanks Cat and Linda Kay, I think I got it now. Here in the NE there is only one in the fall, I haven't been to one yet either so that added to the confusion.
Hope everyone is having a great day.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Linda Kay... do you still have the tag? I am new to most plants..lol but I KNOW I can't get another thing to overwinter.. If it's tropical I would have to pass, but you can take cuttings and wrap in a wet paper towel then in a baggie and they will be fine to bring to the RU. The bloom is drop dead gorgeous!!

Donna is can be confusing ..lol Peg, Linda kKay and I are going.. I am going to both RU's Linda Kay to Tyler.. and Peg and I to A RU!! Got it now?? hehehehe.. I can't wait to meet both of them!

Clemie.. awww you are going to make me blush...hehe Copo is soo white and pretty. er handsome.... My cousin had a poodle...peach.. and she always had the stains.. sooo I figured all "light" colored dogs had them. Gosh.. my Pom wouldn't allow me that close ...she has my number!! I didn't train her right!! Did I tell ya'll she got drug behind DH's truck when she was 3 months old?? Bad.. Bad.. and I have really babied her every since..lil devil dog!! Thats what I call both our dogs... sometimes!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No tags. Wal-mart is bad about that, it just said hibiscus. I only knew the color, because it was in bloom when I bought it. I will bring cuttings to the round-up.
Linda Kay

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

AW!! Copo is so precious! Such a little Darling with his dollie dog. lol Donna, it's just a-okay to be confused ... :) I want to come to a TX ru with you guys!! Waaaaaaaaaaaaa, with what I'd spend in gas, I could buy a bunch of plants... When I win the lottery, we're having a big Hottie RU, and I'm paying for everyones transportation and a whole floor of hotel rooms, food, and forget a swap, Ladies, we're going shopping!--- somewhere exotic, maybe? The Carribean? Hawaii? Oh IFonly. Linda Kay, Oh Me Oh My Oh is a hybrid, I don't think it will produce seeds. It is a small plant, but if I trim it before winter, do you want cuttings to try? And ALL Hotties, if you lost anything you got from me, I'll have more brug cuttings, soon. And ALL hotties who haven't gotten anything from me, I'll have Pink Beauty, Peach Versi, Monster White for sure to share. I doubt I will be cutting much on my precious new brug babies/teens but I may have a few new kinds to offer as well. We'll just have to do a mail "swap", I guess. :( I'm very happy for Peg and Becky and Linda Kay... and I'm very lucky and excited to be able to attend the MO ru and meet our Midwest hotties & DGers. My work project has kept me away today, (I'm so responsible) Finally, a break, I can chat (and do my nails) lol Louise, love that Spanish Flag, I planted some a few years ago, I got 2 blooms before winter set in and I haven't tried it again. Aw, Becky poor lil devil dog.. I'd have her spoiled plum rotten, too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just found out that my hibiscus is called:

Tropical Hibiscus 'Jane Cowel'
Hibiscus rosa-sinensis
(aka Jane Cowell)

It is a tropical. but I will still bring cuttings to the round up.
AuntB, I have not yet recieved any cuttings from you, and I would love to get a pink beauty please?
Everyone else, please keep me in mind, when you do your cuttings. I would love to have a variegated brug, and a Dr. Suess, and Miss Emily Mckenzie!
have a good day.
Linda Kay
