PEGGY!! You are so cute peering out! LOOK at those NANNERS!!!!! HUGE and gorgeous!!! What a cute pic, way to go Peg's DH!!! How's that Surpriser's hand doing? Well, I was kinda going blank, too... so I'll think some more... Maybe something new, something hardy that blooms pretty and for most of the growing season........ think, think..... Rose of Sharon? No, they need full sun... How about some cone flowers here and there? They will do okay in partial sun.... Are you wanting a tall plant backdrop? How wide is the 50ft area? Enough you can layer things by tallness to shortness?
She's About to....... #12
Yeah, I'm out there picking tomatoes minding my own business and he yells at me, I'm so caught. The doctor released him Monday, but it is still swollen and stiff, but the doctor told him probably six months before all of the swelling goes down.
Okay, this next picture is the mess that he is wanting to get rid of. The bed will be about 5 ft. wide, so I will have plenty of room for layers.
LOUISE-- looks like we might be in for some bad TS's this afternoon/evening.... lay down those top heavy brugs, don't want broken stems.. My lil Antique Lace gets to spend the night in the diningroom..... triplet blooms (more aromatic than her first blooms) and she's puttin out buds like crazy! Sure wish she's put out some more stalks from the roots so I can share her... 3ft tall and loaded - now that's my kinda brug! I won't need a bit of help getting her 1-2 gal potful moved!
How about clematis or passionvine? You could rig some kind of climbing wire or something between a couple of the fence posts.... just an idea.. still thinking..
Audrey, I know you are there lurking most of the time, but it is nice to see you posting once in a while. We don’t want to have to worry about you.
Peg, that nanna is fantastic, I can not believe the size of those leaves, you look so adorable peeking out at us. What is the zone on that nanna, I love it. That fence is calling for something’s that will climb on it. Thinking here, when I should be working!
Lu, the blooms will come and be beautiful, but that does not make the waiting any easier.
hey everyone!!
Faye...we can't do much being so far away.. except pray... and I know he is going to be ok!! I am glad to hear you are so positive!!
Lu.. you can bet there will be pics posted from the RU...LOL.. I am like Keith...
Bonnie... ohhh to have your blooms... sorry about the toe.. lordy they hurt!! Yep tomorrow is the day...
Peg.. are you sure that is monkey grass?? if it's LIRIOPE.. PLEASE check my wants at the RU... Ok I am out here..hehehehe
Liriope... I have some, I dug it out from a bed around the foundation.... I didn't get a few clumps replanted, they've been sitting in the hosta bed, waiting for me... one is plain green, a huge clump over a foot across, it's blooming! Tough stuff! They have full beds of it around the state house in Columbia, SC, FULL, I was surprised when I saw it. If you don't get some at the RU Beck, I'll share with ya.. I have some green and white leaved, too. Donna, a Musa Bajoo Banana would be hardy for you with a little protection.. Peg, I just love that pic, how many maters did you get? Are you making salsa or canning or just eating them sliced? Mmm, summer maters are best!
Beck I got a bunch of liriope last fall from a gal. If you are needing some I can give you her name. She had plenty last fall
LOL, we cross posted Bonnie!
Cat, look, we posted on the same minute! lol
Okay, we need to stop! :) LOL
LOL. 2 great minds......
Lu, those are FINE looking buds, look how fat!!! Some buds don't grow real long, honestly, I think they are getting very close to being blooms.. now, you have been checking them at least 4 times a day, right? Donna and I talk to ours, sometimes even sing a song.... not sure if it helps... ;) Cat, you are right!
I think they look great! Mine were long and skinnier. And the end of it just started opening and kind of "protruding". LOL. Hows that for a visual??!!!
Cat,what a visual I am having,very descriptive of many;;)
Is that a pond in the background. What is the tall pink blooms on the fence. very pretty.
Linda Kay
Ok Posy, my money is on the 1st!
Lu.. wow .. what a pretty back yard... is that a POND I spy back there???ohhhh I want a pond..waaaaaa.. and look at the brug bud.. she ias soo big I even saw her in the pic!!
Bonnie... sing??? LOL.. They would fall over dead.. or die trying IF I sang to them!...
OK cat.. now you are picking on me.. and Dave liked you best!!..LOL.. hope you know I am teasing...hehehehe
Thanks Linda Kay,it is a pond and that plant is in the 1000 gal pond you noticed. Now that you mention it,it does look like it is next to the fence. I don't know the name of it. It was a companion plant to water hibiscus and I took it from the pond that belongs to our local hospital. They let me have any plants I want because I stock their pond with Goldfish and Koi offspring from my pond. Over the years, I have put at least a thousand fish or more in their pond, not to mention hundreds of Japanese Trapdoor Snails.
That plant is really hardy. It's in a pot on the second depth level of the pond(approx. 2.5ft. deep) of the pond and it stays there all winter and then comes back to life every year and blooms all summer. It reseeds easily but is a bit invasive, although easy to pull up plants where I don't want them. I think the plant might be listed in my Ortho book. I'll go look...........................
Not me Beck! I would never pick on my hotties sisses! Wellll....not too bad anyway!
:-)
We are sooo snoopy...LOL Post a picture and we look at every detail....LOL I love the pond, please post pics. I am still working on mine. Thought I would get it done this year.....laugh laugh laugh....always next year or I guess maybe the winter.
My triple brug bloom is still a growing but is very slow. I can't believe how these three brugs have bloomed there heart out this year. I am waiting slowly for the triple.
Been on vacation, digging up iris and planting. Course the first of the week no humidity and beautiful, now it is a tad bit humid....but at least it isn't raining.
Well better get back out there.
What triple do you have Joyce?
LU! The pond IS great! The tall pink flowers, I want some for my stock tank pond... maybe in spring you can send me some that you "weed" out?? Purty Please?? I'll send you brug cuttins' this fall..... Posey that lil budded up brug is doing real good, it WILL open.... SHHHHH, Beck, don't let them hear about people that CAN sing.... most of them have only heard me, which is bad, but they don't know the diff.. :) I try not to miss anything on the thread, I love looking at everyone's pics.. Joyce! Glad to see you're getting some flowertime!
LOL the backgrounds are usually beautiful, cept mine are weeds unless I point so you can't see them.....
Is your waterfall coming out of an old barrel? Your watergarden is so neat...I have fish and didn't know all the gold fish or so from black to gold. This is my first real year and I had these babies and they were all black and then I saw these gold spots and I thought ohhh these guys are going to be beautiful all spotted...LOL now they are all gold no black at all. I do have one really pretty white fish with flowing fins.
Cat the brug is one of those great trades I got into, I think actually they sent it to me with postage and they said NOID triple. I am not even sure of the color, I got it last fall so it has been very slow. Have to admit I am not very good about fertilizing like I should. I will post pics when it blooms.
Took 2 days vacation. I get today, Sunday, and Monday. Friday meeting a friend in Independence and Saturday going to the good guys car show at the big race track.
Looks like storms brewing....
LU can I beg for starts of the big pink next year also........p l e a s e.....love the drift wood. Need to find some of that.
Happ! I wasn't begging...... yet. :) I was strikin' up a trade, begging comes when I ask Gordon for a cutting from one of his Ludgers, cause I doubt I have any brugs he wants or doesn't have... lol I love how you fashioned up that water fall with the whiskey barrel... very creative, Lu! Audrey?? Lurker Audrey??? Was it you that said you'd seen a pond from an old satelite dish??? We were going to talk about it and then we made a new thread we didn't get back on the subject...
OMG you Hotties are not going to believe what you made me discover!!! I was going to send all kinds of seeds to any of you that wanted that Pink Plant till I got on the Internet and find that it is Loosestrife and is considered a noxious plant that is destroying wetlands and other habitats. They are trying to get everyone that has some to destroy it. They said on some of the sites I went to that even if you think you can control it on your own property,it is so prolific, some of the seeds will always be escapees. I see it all along our Rivers and Ponds. They said it competes for nutrients that destroy native plants and wildlife habitat dies off as the plants they really need disappear. I am in total shock because I had a beautiful Water Hibiscus planted with the Loosestrife and sure enough the Hibiscus has disapeared.
The crappy Japenese Beetles are eating it, so I'm going to let them kill it off, then feed the beetles to the Robins,.They love those Japanese Beetles.
I'm sorry the plant is so beautiful, but you won't see again in my back yard. What a shock!
Home from work and all burggies are water and fed, I tried to get pics of NOL and JJ my babies with the big problems but they did not come good. I will have to wait for the weekend when I can get more light. I see no posts for a while, must be dinner time for the hottie crew. I need to shower and find food, I’ll check in later.
Lu.. I googled too, and found it is even down here.. and also listed as invasive.. I have some plants considered invasive, but only since this late spring, so I can't remark about them.. but never had the loosestrife.. it is really pretty though!!
Yep Donna.. we just got through with what we call "supper"..lol.. Spaghetti with skillet" french bread" toast... hmmm pretty good, even if I have to say so myself...
Now I am out of here to water.. see you girls in a bit..
Hey Hotties ! To tired to catch-up working on a big order! So be good : )
Clemen I got my dragons...smooches!!!
TTYL : }
Kimmie, did they arrived ok??? Please tell me yes! I have more if they did not, except that the ones I have are growing too too big, that is why i did no send those!
Hey I had a purple one and killed it.....LOL
It's been raining here since this morning...
Just a steady slow rain where it's soaking into the ground...
Had to laugh at the weather channel interactive thing...
It said it was 64 and sunny here all day...LOL
More like 52 and raining.....
Loosestrife that is...
heya hotties...too tired to list all the things I want to say about all the postings. Just know I luv ya all! lol Great pics too! the pond looks great! My budding brug is loaded with tiny little okras. Very tiny still! I groomed three today. A standard poodle. Matted to the skin and very very naughty only groomed twice in his life. A cat and a cocker 1 yr old NEVER been groomed before. It was like a doggy rodeo. The CAT was the best one of the day. A total angel! My hubbie said he has wrestled with inmates at his job in forced cell moves and has never seen the horror that we had today with those two dogs. I told him NOW you should appreciate what a groomer goes through! lol He called his Dad and told him he wrestled with 40 inmates today lol.
Louise that is so funny! Glad to hear you are getting customers. Hope all is well with everyone. getting ready for bed, so I will see you all tomarrow.
Linda Kay
