She's about to .... # 11

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

So cute! I had a tiny poodle once that didn't weigh 3 lbs. soaking wet. She was so smart! Is he a poodle? He's adorable!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Cross posted Louise, I knew you would come to the rescue, so when is his first appoitment??? LOL

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

He is welcome any time.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Yes last fall I brought whole plants inside what was I thinking??? I will NOT do that again!!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Okay, my mutt is not as cute as Copo, not at all, but he was a rescue I ended up with 11 years ago. DD fell in love with him, because "he looks like you, Mom, he's got gray hair."

So, I ran all over town yesterday and did not buy another plant, oh, it was hard, but I finally found an "All-Purpose Deoderized Fish Fertilizer" from Alaska. So I rushed home and mixed it up, "Deoderized?" It smelled horrible. If they deoderized it, I can't imagine what it smelled like. So, I put it on my two older brugs in the front, but left the three new ones in the back yard alone, they have only been in the ground for a week and until the "nekid babies" get some leaves I did not want to go there. I had a little bit left over and threw it on another potted plant that is not doing too good. I turn around and ole doggie is having himself a big time, snout down in that planter just doing his best to get that fish out of the dirt. So, now, I don't know if I can use the fish on the new brugs, which are in his territory. I have mixed up the "recipe" but now I am wondering what he is going to do with that. Doggie plus beer, ammonia and molasses is kind of scary!

We had a georgeous slow soft rain for about 6 hours. It was perfect. I got out and got some pictures of the plants with that "wet" look and just loved it.

Happ, those naked ladies are so pretty around here right now. They really are unique .

Donna! You're looking for a pan? Somebody please check on this lady. I think her fall hurt her badder than we thought. :) Seriously, dear lady, please make sure you are okay. The "I don't remember" thing does not sound good and passing out and falling is definitely not good. We want you around, so take care.

Louise, I love your "Bows: already. When is your actual opening date? Let us know so we can celebrate with you.

I know I left out a bunch of people tonight, so I apologize. I am tired and have 6 hours before I have to go to work. So, hottie sisters, I lov ya. May we all have flushes and brugs blooming. And every other flower we keep finding and yakking about. Peg

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Still waiting on shipments of stuff. Maybe a week. possibly two. It is coming along though. We still have construction/destruction mess. lol

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Peg I have thes ame FE as you !! My cat likes to lick the bottle top if I leave it open yuck ;P Don't forget to post your pics!!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Guys, have to tell you, just heard from my highschool friend that lives in Alaska, have not spoken to her in 50 years, so happy I feel like a little girl tonight, well, I know we are are little girls! Seņoritas, right Meg?????

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Peg deodorized craking me up, mine says the same thing! mmmmnnnnnnn delicious and I know you love fish! LOL, not

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Clemen you are not even that old! No way. You look far younger than that you pretty senorita!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Ok Lousie so are you a seņorita too, and pretty like all of us, lOL, right Beckie!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Good morning hotties, off to work, will sneak in from there later. Have a nice day!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning. It is still trying to rain here. I have not had to water for 3 days now!!! It is 73 degrees, with lots of humidity, but not complaining yet.
Hotties, be good, and I am still waiting on the t shirts to be finished.
Linda Kay

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Hope all of our Florida hotties are waging the hurricane, ok.

60 degrees this morning at 5am.....and not much humidity...

Got home too late to do anything in the garden. Think tonight I will make bleach water and clean water cover them up and have them ready, maybe I can do a few iris every night otherwise I am not going to get done.

I learned a valuable lesson last week. Someone was offering noid iris for postage....how could I resist. Iris are one of my favorite plants. Course I am not sure I have ever meet a plant I didn't like. $20.00+ dollars later for postage! Was sent in a huge box, when it would of fit in a flat rate box and a lot of the rhizones are old and will need to be thrown away....but like I said I learned a valuable lesson.

Do you all participate in plant swap or plants for postage? Or have you all already learned your valuable lesson? LOL

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Hello and thank you all for the food suggestions. I'm usually here and spend all my time reading what you interesting ladies have to say. Think you would call me snooping, but I'm really enjoying you and the funny happenings. All your plants are beautiful and I hope someday, I will see blooms on the plants that you have sent me. Do love the four footed children, I too have one that sheds no matter what I do. Snese is a cross, Peknegse and Shih Tzu with a thick undercoat. I think if I saved his hair loss, I would have enough to make a fur collar in a very short time.

I have asked for plants for postage and have been very satisfied. LOL but I've only got plants from you "hotties". Thank you all again.

happgardner, I got the same thing. Mine was almost $19.00, and it could have fit in a smaller box. Not for sure what to do with mine, as I have never done iris's before. Any pointers here? A bunch of them are all stuck together. Do I seperate them, or just plant as is? Do I have to clean them, or soak them?
Help.

Here is a good site that shows how to cut off the old rhizone. You don't want those because they won't bloom anymore and may habor disease or insects.

Adding to this, the "iris" people on DG and I am now doing this also.
Once they are dug, trimmed up the rhizone, leaves, and majority of the dirt is washed off (you don't want you bleach water dirty if you are going to reuse it like I am. I am doing about 30 clumps total).
Mix 1 part bleach to 10 parts of water.
Put the entire iris under water, you may need to sit something on top of them to cover completely.
I sit the bleach bottle on top if it is full enough.
Some leave them for 20 minutes, others leave a little longer.
Then I spray them down with the hose, then soak them in clean water again for a little while longer.
When you take them out you will notice the rihzone is all nice and bright and I recheck for worm holes. You don't want any iris bores. They are worms that come down the stalk and feed on the rhizone.
Then sit it them out to dry. In August when it is hot I lay them out on my concrete porch like little soldiers in the shade and they dry pretty quickly.
Once dry I sit them in the shade upright in a box with the box open until I am ready to plant. They must have air cause if any mosture is left and they are closed up they will begin to rot.

The bleach water will kill any disease or iris bores that may be in the rhizone or stalk. This time of the year they are usually in the rhizone, if they haven't exited.

Hope that helps.
They can stay this way for a couple of weeks or more depending on the temps.

Morning Hotties,
Quick one from work came in this morning to an email from my AF DD. Here is what she sent me. The title was “Here I am jumping off the Swiss Alps”. So glad she does not tell me these things before she does them.

So glad I did not sign up for the Irises, The only reason I didn’t was because I wasn’t sure I would get them planted.

I’m doing some Google searches for the Neptune’s Harvest I bought. Looks like its expensive everywhere.

Peg not to worry I’m fine, just joking about the pan because I never cook.

Later ladies, actually have to work for a while.

Mornin Hottie Sis's!!

Joyce... I had to LOL.. at your Iris "adventure"... I just joined Daves in March.. and like the whirlwind I am (greedy gut!) I traded with anyone that would listen to me..lol OHHHHHHHH I got burned too.. but I made some nice trades and met some really great dgers too. I am waaayyy more selective now though!! TY for the info on the Iris!!

Peg... your lil (well he's big..but he's still lil) "puppy" reminded me soo much of my lil pom.. not in size..lol but the expression of his eyes.. and that mouth open.. just like mine.... soo trusting..lol

Donna... I didn't read real good..lol and I thought that might be you in that parachute!! I was thinking.. I would have a heart attack if it were me.. and I wouldn't have to worry about my bad back when I hit the ground.. cause I would already be DEAD!!!!...LOL... I am NOT a risk taker!

Faye... I am glad to see you posting here... I have been lurking on lots of threads YOU post on..lol I love all the projects ya'll do on the concrete forum, and the trash to treasure too!!

Clemie... I don't remember much of the Spanish I took in HS.. well really I don't remember much of anything I learned in school..lol BUT.. is senora... "old" lady".. and senorita.. "young" lady.. or does it mean one is married and the other means you are single?? ..can't remember..opps.. already told you that..lol

Girlies... did I tell you I got my camera yesterday??YAY!!... I'm off to try and figure the thing out!! You girls be good today!!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Donna, be glad you didn't get the "free" iris. This is really the only one that has been disappointing and I am sure they didn't know how to cram a pig in a poke and flat rate boxes. I will ask better questions next time.

The joke around my house "has anyone dusted the oven?"...LOL Don't mind cooking in the winter otherwise between the hours I work and playing in the garden, no time.

Linda Kay, hope I didn't scare you to death with the iris thing. It is really easy and you will be rewarded with lots of blooms and more iris rhizones than you know what to do with.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

DG is 8 years old.

Happygardens....My Jacomani Clematis does better than both my Nellie Moser's
but I have Iris planted in front of it (not intentionally)..and I heard they like to have their roots shaded...
So maybe you can try planting a non invasive plant in front of them to see if that helps...

It's rain here today...had a wicked TS this morning with hail....sounded nice on the tin roof between the boomers..

Here's my baby that I have visitation rights to...
He's half White Shepard/half Golden Retriver (I think)...was told collie but he has webbed feet....
His names Shep

My DD cuts his hair every summer cause it soo long and thick...

What a cutie puppy. I love mixed breds expecially if they are part golden retriver.

My Nellie Moser are the worst of the worst clematis I have. One in part sun, one in full sun, roots covered and they both turn into crispy critters. We had rain most of this summer every 3 days until about 3 weeks ago and I thought ok this year they will stay green, not. Love my jackmani it always does good. The sweet autumn is overtaking the glider swing so next year I need to try to contain it a little bit.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Shep's a pretty baby!!

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Went up to my dd's once and he was out on the deck...abt 15 foot up..and saw his mommy leaving and took a flying dive off the deck...He was okay..guess he thought he sprouted wings...
So from now on when I leave he has to be in.....
I couldn't take him back now cause he would miss his 3 brothers so much...Plus his new little sister...(my gd..LOL)
His brothers are a Chocolate Lab Walker...A Half Rottie half Great dane maybe?? and a Coonhound...
I was gone for 2 years and she took care of him for me...So it wouldn't be fair....

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Fay and Phyllis, what cute four footed kids you have! Faye believe it or not, Pekes are one of my fave breeds. Actually my faves change with each dog I groom lol. But Pekes are always so cute and sassy. Goldens are always nice dogs for grooming. Not a mean bone in their bodies. Labs on the other hand you have to wrestle lol. They usually win.
Joyce, I have lots of Clematis and they never wilt or get crispy. Well except a new one I put in this year. Rubro marginata. My least fave so far is my first. Henryii. It blooms so early and then nothing the rest of the year. I am going to dress it up with another later blooming type. This is a pic of my henryii three seasons old.

Sorry about mispelling your name Faye, I am typo prone. You have to read around my typing! Here is one of my favorite clematis. Viticella Venosa Violacea, it always performs and blooms and then reblooms. Have you tried the Viticella hybrids? Polish spirit is turning out to be like Viticella here too, only it is a summer bloomer.

Hi hotties, checking from work, how is everyone!
Joyce, did get burned here, no swap or trade, but a coop order!
Beckie, yeap, seņora is a married person or older, and seņorita single, young, or no experience, if you know what I mean, don't want to get in trouble with DG, lol!
Donna, that pic of DD makes me nervous, I am not that daring!
Philis and Faye loved the puppies, ahhhhhhhhhhh!

Ok back to work, no time to play now!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Cross posted Louise, lovely clematis!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Donna that is a great picture!! I am not daring at all. I don't even like roller coasters. Last roller coaster I rode was the incredible hulk in Orlando about 5 years ago and I swore that was my last. I hate that feeling like I am going to die! If I want that feeling I will just go on the freeway at rush hour!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Y oh Y !!!!!
I went out to water and found one of my Brugs is Y'ing. Could not believe it! This one is not one of my seedling but one sent to me by Robynznest in a raise my baby swap. This one is marked s.peach x s.white, s.peach x s.pink. It should be interesting to see what it blooms like. Hopefully it will bloom this fall. If not then next year for sure! I am sooo excited!!

Thought I would post progress on the march seedlings. Put the chair in the pic for some size reference. They are seedling monsters lol.
