Joyce, I have lots of Clematis and they never wilt or get crispy. Well except a new one I put in this year. Rubro marginata. My least fave so far is my first. Henryii. It blooms so early and then nothing the rest of the year. I am going to dress it up with another later blooming type. This is a pic of my henryii three seasons old.
