She's about to .... # 11

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

My DH is 72.. so I know what you mean.. but only on the very coldest of nights.. and only about 3 a year.. would we run out of wood (coals)and the propane would switch on. He would load once in the am.. and once around 9 at night.. I always told him if he'd wait till the news was over it at night would probably have held us on those cold nights. There is NO dust either..lol.. not like a regular wood heater! If I could justify the costs here in TX.. believe me I would have one here too.. but our winters aren't as severe.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Donna that sounds scarey! I hope you really are alright!!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

OH... Donna... brings back memories when we used to raise pigs..lol.. did I tell you I had 20 Mommas.. and babies almost all the time?? Glad you finally found the fish emulsion.. don't it stink ??..lol

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

One year we rented a cottage at Sand Hill Cove for a couple weeks in the summer. We'd go to Gaililee a lot because my Mom loved the Clam Cakes. I remember my little brother used to call Galilee "Stink Village" because you could smell all the fish when the boats were in. For years we called it that and would tease him because he came to like fish when he became an adult. I love California, but I sometimes miss my family back in Rhode Island.

My sister lives across the street from the homicide that took place in Narragansett. Did you hear about that Donna?

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Gosh yes Donna.. in my excitement on the pigs.. I forgot to ask if you are alright?? I know it didn't help your back any!!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

My goodness donnita, hope you are ok, Love ya

MPbooth, scary about the homocide, how can your sis stand it living next to it?

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

So sorry about the last post, ahh the joys of copy and paste. Spelling is not one of my strong suites so I have to use MS Word.
Had to use edit to take out all the old stuff.

Mary I hadn’t heard about that, I will have to read the whole article. This area is usually such a calm peaceful place but horrible things can happen anywhere. I’ve been doing a lot of Sand Hill Cove this year. DGD is just 3 so that is the best beach for her. If you come to RI to visit let me know, I’d love to meet you for coffee or stronger.

Kim, I seem to be fine, the worst will be if I knocked anything out of place. I don’t feel anything now so will see in the morning.

Yup that fish stuff smells wonderful, but not as bad as the docks. Lot of livestock at the fair but I love the baby piggies.

Phyllis, lots of fun watching the DGC grow and do new things. I’ve got a new baby boy coming in about 4 weeks, can’t wait for him to come out. His momma can’t wait either; the heat is getting to her.

Here is happy DGD riding the train.

Donna, your Granddaughter is beautiful!

Those fairs are fun. I joke that I eat my way from one end to the other at our County Fair each year. I used to like the Wickfield Art Festival too. There was one place that made the best homemade strawberry shortcake. My husband and I bought our first piece of art at that festival.

Mary

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Thanks Mary, We seem to hit all the festivals in South County since Siobhan (pronounced Shevon) has been around. Love them all, the food is always fantastic, and it’s so much more fun when you get to spoil a grandchild.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Clemen, that is a scarey looking flower bud! It is staring at me......
Donna! Oh my gosh thank God you are all right and did not break anything!

Spent the day painting again, but we are almost done. Down to the last half wall of lavender. Here are some pics

Before.... The 70's called and wanted their panelling back!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

actually mine needs a good grooming too lol. Rosie is going to christen the shop!

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Donna hope your feeling alright this morning...

We're just replacing the furnance that's in our cellar....this one is wood/coal
and we can get a kit if we want to heat our hot water through it...
He hasn't decided yet..
Thought abt the outdoor one...but it's alot warmer to just go downstairs....LOL
My DD has the outdoor one with the radiant heat in the floors...I think it's called Intimidator
They love it....
Was easy for them cause they just built a new home....
It heats their water so they keep it running year round...But it does have a backup electric water heater JIC..
Guess my SIL said now he fixes it like every 24 hours...in winter every 12...
We have lots of land so woods not a problem....We like to try and have enough to last the winter...

My BIL sells and installs the Outdoor Furnances....
Said he wished they had the radiant heat when he installed his....
As with all my IL's...
There's alot of pro's with the outdoor ones....No dust..no smoke...warm floors...
But to me the only BIG con is going out in bad/really cold weather to fix it...

This GD is my 16th GK...
It's our youngest first (and probably only) Kid...

Morning hotties,

All seems well, lil bit of sore but otherwise okay. Have a scheduled vacation day today. New I would need it, I had such a fun weekend; I have to get all the normal stuff done in one day. Looks like a nice one here. Not to hot, should only be in the 80’s.
Going to make the recipe, I managed to get most of the stuff. Does everyone put the ammonia in theirs, I have some but it sounds kind of harsh.
Got to get started, feeding and potting, mowing and cleaning, laundry and must do’s. What am I thinking; I am not a super hottie. Be lucky to accomplish 1/8 of the list. Have a great day everyone.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Mornin Hottie Sis's..

Louise... Your business is goingto be soo cute.. can't wait til opening day!!

Mary.. yep.. the food always tastes better at the fair...

Donna.. soo cute lil GD you have.. she must be a happy child!! Glad you are ok this mormning.. but if you try to accomplish all that ..you will be in bed for a week..lol.. I think I'd conveniently forget about that list, and just go sit on the beach for awhile.. or go shelling.. I LUV to do that!!

Clemie... my neices FIL shot himself in her spare bedroom as he was living with them... now she and dh are getting a divorce.. and finally after a year of living in the house, she is selling it!! I don't think I could have lived there even 1 day, after that!

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Okay, well 2 loads of laundry done, so I have cloths for the week and all plants have been fed and watered. Weather man was wrong already 87 out and I’m giving in. Yup Becky it will be the beach for the hot part of the day. I’ll clean up all inside later, much later, repotting will wait till shady late afternoon. Not enough vacation time to spend it washing floors. The ocean is calling, and I’m a goin. Just me, a sandwich, a chair and a book. Oh and the boogie board, not for riding for balance so I can get in and out of the ruff surf. Be back in a while.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

It was in the high 50's when I got up this morning....don't know how the plumeria's and brug's like that one. This is the middle of August....I think.

Oh if I could go to the beach, I wouldn't clean house until winter....actually I can't go to the beach and I still don't clean house until winter....LOL, too busy in the gardens. Cleaning house is waaay down on the list.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

ha ha, I second that one Joyce. This time of year is busy in the gardens. Dead heading and thinning and picking produce and canning and freezing. Just put up about 20 pounds in apricots. Fall I am busy cutting everything down and back. This has been such a weird year. My bleeding hearts never died back this year and my rudbeckias have not gone to seed. Looks like I am getting rebloom on my clematis henryii that never reblooms.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Back from the beach, water was kind to me today, surf was dealable. Felt so good like a giant ice pack, just what the body needed. I rinsed off the salt, and now coffee to keep me moving. I’m off to yard for some burg repotting. The recipe seems to have done some good; my leaves had a yellow cast to them this morning, now they are a much darker green. I guess they all loved their snack. Wonder if my DSIL will miss the beer I borrowed.
House cleaning is a winter chore, it’s not meant to be done in the summer.
50 is a little cold for August even in zone 5. It has been a very strange year; I have shrooms the size of footballs in the hosta gardens. I’ve never had them like this before, it never usually rains here in mid summer at all.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Donna...OH.. I have mushrooms all the time after the rains or my watering.. really weird looking and pretty ones too. I have wanted to learn about them, but they are lower on my priority list this year..lolI finally found the fish emulsion today, and they had it marked down to 5 so I got all 3 bottles, and would have gotten more! I need to get the other stuff for the recipe! That stuff really works fast! Lucky you.. just walk across the street and be on the beach.. now that's the life!!

Louise.. yeah hasn't the weather been strange this year?? I am still getting small tomatoes... and that's weird for August... lil okra and a few watermelons trying to make too.. everything is gone other than that...LOL.. except the weeds!!

Joyce...50 degrees??... I would need a sweater..LOL... Lyle is talking about going back to TN just for a couple weeks in Sept. just so we can see his Momma and our kids.. brrr... I don't know!!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Hi Hotties, checking in and saying hello to everyone!

Will post later, need to go make some dinner for the family. Love ya, Clem

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hey Hotties!! Louise I wish I had some fruit to put up...my fruit cocktail tree has about 12 apricots lol.Aahhh the beach sounds really good Donna! Glad you got some FE Becky... it may be stinky but the plants luv it : ). MEM is still at it ...she just keeps pumping out blooms!!

Thumbnail by kimarj
South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Wow Kim, she is putting on a show. Do you put ammonia in your recipe, I left it out, should I add it? Your plants are sooooooo nice and green.

Clem, I’m coming for dinner, no time to cook. Just kidding, got some fresh corn at the farm yesterday, will actually take out a pan and steam it for dinner. (((((YUM))))) I know I have a pan buried around here somewhere, just need to dig for it.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Hello everyone, What is the best food for Brugs, and how often should I feed them? I'm so happy..leaves are coming back.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Kim, MEM is sooo beautiful. If you cut her back this year, and have any extra cuttings, you know where to send here!!!
Where are the HOTTIE t-shirts? Has anyone made them up yet?
LMK
Linda Kay

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Louise, If I was closer, I would bring in my Siberian Husky, Karoosh. He needs a grooming so bad. he has this shedding problem year round, and I could sit and brush him everynight, but it makes no difference. My couch is still called furrrrniture!
Good luck with your business.
Linda Kay

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Yes I added the ammomnia Donna..hope you find yer pan ; } Hey Faye nice to see you post : ) I have been feeding 20-20 20 and spraying the recipe and fish emulsion. Today I found some 10-52- 8 bud and bloom. Miracle grow works too! Linda Kay you have a cutting come cutting time!! Faye you maybe should use half strenght food.

Thank you very much. She is just so pretty.
Thanks
Linda Kay

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

You will love her what big blooms she has!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Our rain has stopped and stopped completely at my house. Clay has turned to brick. Think I will try that earth something or other that is suppose to help loosen clay soil. I don't know how my naked ladies made it thru the ground. Hope I don't get in trouble for calling them that, but that is what my Mother called them and I don't know them by any other name.

I have daylilies reblooming, never had that happen. I watered about Wednesday and even the ones that had gone to seed are blooming again. Very strange year. Suppose to warm up by the end of the week and suppose to rain Thursday.

I have had it with clematis, everyone of those and I have several except for Jackmani and the autumn white one that is just getting ready to bloom turns brown and shrivels up. I am yanking them up by the roots, don't know what the deal is but I have had them for years and it happens every single year and I am tried of looking at dead leaves on the trellis, so this year on clean up out they go....boy I am testy....LOL

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi Joyce : ) gypsum is the stuff you are speaking of I think. The clematis will prolly bloom now that they have been threatened lol.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

In for the night skeeter are baaaaaaaad out there. Repotted up 6, the others are not as bound so they can wait. Need to buy more dirt, waa waa I hate buying potting soil, have to con the WM guy into loading it for me. Agway will do it but it’s 5 bucks a bag more.

Becky, I miss your post earlier my eyes went right to the blooms. Lucky lady finding that deal on the Fish stuff I paid $15.99 for 36 oz. Neptune’s Harvest, Fish & Seaweed. Has anyone ever heard of it?
The beach isn’t quite that close, I live in the woods, 6 miles down the road is the ocean.

Linda Kay, I did know there was any other kind, my Shepard sheds almost all year. I get a little reprieve in January. I tell people, the couch in the den is theirs so if you don’t want hairs on you throw a sheet on it.

Thanks Kim, I will add the ammonia. Hope I can get them as green as yours. Some bloom would be a nice added attraction.

Oh Joyce, I didn’t like hearing about your Clems, I bought about 10 this year all still in pots doing okay. I will be so very NOT happy if I don’t get flowers next year.

Hi Faye, glad to see you here.

Well, still need to shower and it’s getting late; Doritos are beginning to sound better than clearing off the stove top and finding a pan. We’ll see after I’m clean.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

dahtzu, I think everyone uses a variety of brug ferts. I use miracle grow and rotate it with rose food and tomato food. Do a search for the recipe and alot of brug growers use that too. I also use a double dose of dynamite when I repot.
Lovely pic Kim, that brug is loaded!
Linda Kay, karoosh is a cool name! They ARE hairy beasts lol. They have that spring coat blow out too. Indoors it probably sheds alot slower because of the artificial light. Take him to a groomer who will use a force dryer on his coat. That will blow out alot of that and make sure they aren't just cage drying. Joyce same here we have not had a decent rain in quite a while.
Donna, GS is another breed that has that undercoat. But then again some short haired breeds shed alot too. Especially labs.

Clemen what is for dinner??

Finished painting today...yay ! boy was that a pain in the you know what.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Hotties, and Louise dinner was fresh fried flounder and cod, although Beckie or was it Meg, so confused, says there is no such thing as fresh seafood, I do get it here though, contaminated, but fresh, lol, beckie and or Meg I love ya!

Donna, you better have cooked a good meal, fresh corn is good!

Kimmie, love the brugs! send me some please!

hi Linda Kay, Audrey and Happgarden, sorry If I missed anyone, you know it is not intentional. Love you all, Clem
