WC2, Actually, I was on another boat. Weather is still blah. Damp, but no rain and no real wind for the races today either. I am going to stay home and work on my garden journal. Patti
Todays Weather in Your Garden - 28
Fog has burned off and the sun is out. Expecting showers late afternoon into tomorrow night. Better get out there while I can.
Nice racer shot, Patti. DH used to race catamarans.
Sun is out here--poison ivy finally drying up on my face, after a trip to ER----T-storms forecast--how novel!--will be at the Old Barn Farm babysitting for the girls today--Mom is taking Grant , which is good---at 16lb. I can barely hold him--Anni -, at 21 mo. is only 21 lbs.! Hoping to get some of the last blueberries in trade for tomatoes and cukes. I love Acadia, Pixie--wish I could get there this year! Patti, the ocean shot was a beauty, but I get sick in the bathtub!
Robindog, poor you with the PI.
I will be out again on Sat doing the regular Sat. races. This week there are many !2 metre's here for a big week of racing as are some J boats and other grand old wooden yachts. They will be racing out in the sound. I am not on the committee boat for those this year. Sad, as it is so much fun to start them.
Here are three Alerion's of the11 that were racing yesterday in the harbor. There were 4 other classes racing, a total of about 50 boats. Pretty sight. There will be many more on Sat. I don't race, but am on the committee boat. Nice way to spend a day. Dry too. Patti
It's a hot one today(of course I think anything over 80 is too hot), cloudy right now. 84
Turned nice. I am surprised. But now committed to some inside projects. Patti
Cool enough to work in the garden at 3:30 pm.
the day started out foggy but turned nice. Was able to do some mowing until the skies opened up again! Raining steady now with a rumble in the distance.
We could hear rumbles, but they were north of us in the Merrimac valley--good I needed to get weeds out without interuption.
Robin - so sorry to hear about your PI horror! That sounds terribly miserable. Hope you are much better soon!
Pixie - Wow, that's some sunburn! Looks like it hurts! But it does look like the day was worth it! LOL
Patti - beautiful shots of the water and boats. It's in my blood and even looking at your photos made me long for the water!
Such a gorgeous day here today......no rain yet, but it is in the forecast. Very cool mornings for our walk.
Cool lotsa clouds still dark.
OH, nice shot JoAnn!
60% chance of rain, overcast now.
Pretty sky JoAnn!
61, fog is burning off, sun is coming out and we should reach 84 today.
I remember a visit o my cousin in Rockland.
It was foggyand damp the whole week.
The table cloths developed mold, I even checked my self.
LOL JoAnn too funny!! Hope you didn't find any mold on yourself!
I absolutly Love Maine.
My cousin,an artist, took a course in weaving and naturel dying.
She has been using her daylilies for dye and also onion skins and lavender flowers as well as tomato vines.
The hanks of yarn are really rich gold from the DL's.
I did this one time years ago its a lot of work but well worth it when the wool looks so good.
I miss my trips there. It's so diffacult to fly anywhere and the drive is twelve hours.
Looks like it should be a fine day.

A couple of passing thunderstorms starting ~6pm brought 0.36" rain yesterday.
Today's am is cloudy & foggy with stronger thunderstorms expected late afternoon/ evening. Predicted high of 80°.
Currently having a rain shower. Probably not the last today. Temp is only 62 and no breeze at all. Dark and damp pretty much sums it up.
Sun came out about an hour ago--nice fuel for this pm's round of T-storms---they missed us yesterday! Had a good day at the farm--my son put in gardens around his inlaws new pool--I was impressed--he bought some carex & tiarella for me while he was at the nursery, so I need to go plant!
65 degrees here this morning. DH is hiking the back woods, so I'm hoping the thunderstorm holds off for awhile.
Jo Ann - that's a lovely sky shot! The tall trees here block our view of the sunset (and the sun from reaching a lot of my garden!)
Have a great Friday, everyone!!!
The dawn shot was from my deck about ten feet from neighbors line lucky shot thru the trees.
Ten mins. later it was gray
They say "partly cloudy," but, where are all the clouds??

Yesterday's numerous thunderstorms here in my part of Suffolk County brought 0.7" rain throughout the day and into the evening hours. They started at ~2pm and lasted till around midnight. At one point ~6pm NYC was under a tornado watch. Nassau County (Western Long Island) got hit the worse with downed trees, power lines & flooding.
Foggy this am with overcast skies, very cool and "everything out there is wet". Most likely a humid day today as the sun evaporates all the moisture with expected high in the low 80's. Possibility of thunderstorms late afternoon again, though not expected to be anywhere near as severe as yesterday's storms.
The severe storms missed us yesterday, but we had very heavy rain--again---& rolling thunder from about 4 til 8---everything is dripping outside---grocery shopping this morn--then weeding this pm--should be nicer then. I have FL company coming on the 28th---trying to get the gardens decent!
Lots of sun so far today, but beginning to cloud up. It's sunny enough to notice that I don't have a tan ... I'm rusting!
We had bright sunshine and loud thunder rolling all around us when we were taking a break and sitting on our porch this afternoon. Eventually the rain came and the lightning kept making my new phone (# 3 this summer!) ring. This surge protector seems to be working - unlike the one we bought at Staples that allowed the last phone to fry.
I find Staples products sub standard also. The brand names they carry are alright but Staples brand is a little shy on quality.
I agree! This surge protector wasn't inexpensive, but it's too much of a hassle to try to collect on the warranty. Phone # 2 wasn't very expensive, but it didn't live more than a day after the battery got charged for use when it got fried. Grrrrrrrrrr. The Ace Hardware one didn't work either.
Hey all! Just back from vacation - had a great time at Acadia and had the great pleasure of meeting Celeste and her DL (dear lobster!), Brian. Wonderful people - no surprise there. Ouch!! Hope he's feeling okay, Celeste. Please give him my regards.
Will take a while to catch up. Beautiful here - 64 and loud crickets! I was only hearing a smattering when I left.
Came home to only one inch in my gage. Thought (and hoped) there would be more.
We had a wild night here last night with major thunder and lighting with hard downpours moving through until I finally fell asleep at 3 o'clock. Dogs where not happy. But today was clear of rain, though mostly cloudy with only brief moments of sun. I spent the day out again on the water. Decent day for racing. Patti
Victor, welcome home. DS lived in Bar Harbor for 3 years and it was a great place to visit, for sure. Lucky you. Is your garden ok? Patti
Welcome back , Victor! Your area was under a tornado warning yesterday. We have had a good amount of rain here, thank goodness! Where others have had more than their share, it's been dry until lately.
A cool 59 degrees with clear skies. Heading to Long Island tomorrow.
Hey, Victor! Welcome home and I'm so happy to hear you had a great vacation! Even better that you had the opportunity to meet Celeste and Brian (DL....LOL!) We've missed you here on all the threads. Hope all is well in your gardens. Did the boys like Acadia? What was the biggest hit of the trip (besides meeting Celeste and Brian)!
Thanks, ladies. The garden is okay. Looks a bit heat-stressed. Many of the oak leaf hydrangea blooms have browned. Bummer. I heard about the tornado warning. Been a real crazy summer for weather.
Hi Louise! The kids loved it - we all did. Impossible to pick one - there were so many. The ranger-led tours were superb. We even ended up being in a new documentary on Acadia. It will be shown on PBS and a condensed version will be used in the Visitors Center.
Great, Victor! So, when do we get to see the PBS debut of The Real Victor Revealed!???
I believe you'll need special glasses to see me.
