All are just wonderful.
Gardening Photo's - Part 31
I was going to ask you what that was. Nice background for non blooming shapes like what I supposed to be Sib. Iris past bloom.
boojum....you have me dazzeled! What lovely 'window' views!! I am totally smitten with 'Claimed Blessing' and 'Choo Choo Fantasy'. I'm glad you can't see me as I was droooling and had to put my bib on!
Thank you for sharing those photos.......GOT MORE? LOL
Sorry, didn't mean to sound greedy!
Fortunately there's a nice person here who has a laptop and managed to find wireless service out in nowhere.
Boojum, the photos and pics are lovely. Keep posting! It's a treat. great pic of the wren
JoAnn, all your work is really paying off. It really doesn't look like a garden in it's first or second year. Oh, The colors in those pics are so vibrant because of the elevation, at almost 6000' the light is more intense than at lower elevations. I wish that I knew how to manipulate the camera or photoshop to creat that effect!
Candyce... is that echinacea that bright in the shade! Or was it just cloudy out? I've always found them to be dull in the shade.
Great collages pixie, and flowers in them! How long does it take you to put together one of those collages? probably daster than posting a lot of pictures though, especially if you don't have a fast connection.
I love that monarch catepillar grampapa. What do they eat? something has eaten 90% of the leaves on my delphiniums :-/
Hey RC
In Photoshop
go to Image- AJUST find (BRIGHTNESS and CONTRAST)
If a pic is too bright I back off on that bar and always add contrast a fer notches forward.
All your pics are wonderful, but I have to give special praise to Boo because her garden shots look the way I wish mine would. Nicely spaced mature plants all well cared for, just lovely. I always start out with plenty of room between plants but sooner or later the space gets filled in with another gem I really can't pass up. I am trying to edit a bit this fall and keep only the best performers. Thanks for the inspiration all of you.
Thanks, ngam. I do try to give them space. This is my third garden and I know how easy it is to fill in first hand!!
thanks a bunch for the info JoAnn, hopefully I'll get a chance to try it out here soon.
Onewish, love the critters! Especially the two of the hummer! awesome shot!
Wha, so how many miles a day where you getting in this time?
thank you... there were two hanging around on and off all day
I think I am going to get another Agastache
Victor they didn't go near the golden jubilee..... and neither did the butterflys... the only ones loving it was the bees ... I thought it was going to be bolder than it is... might have to move that one... not really impressing me so far
Hey RC, a small addition of information to add to GEs Photoshop info.
Under IMAGE >> ADJUSTMENTS is SHADOW / HIGHLIGHT (depending on version, I have CS3, and all the old ones) ......
..... Which doesn't adjust the brightness or the contrast across the entire picture, but you can brighten the shadows and darken the highlights independently. Just don't over adjust.
Maybe Victor can start the new thread with some V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N in the Summertime Pics?
Toad Lily was last year's new favorite. They look "kind of" blue. Blue or not, I like them.
ALSO:
Use the UNSHARP mask .... it sounds counter intuitive, but I use that more than sharpen
Another trick I use when enlarging is before I enlarge, I use the blur (or blur more) filter once, then "enlarge*" and when it's all set, use the Unsharp Mask to tighten it back up, then shrink it down a touch to really tighten the lines.
I usually enlarge by cutting an image from a 300 DPI file and pasting it into a new file but I change the resolution setting from 300 to 72 DPI. 300 ÷ 72 = 4.1666 times larger, same sharpness. Scaling is what causes the fuzzies / stair steps / nintendo bitmappies. If you MUST scale, do it in steps of 10% or less for a smoother job.
I'll give it a try.
My version of PS is quite old,at least six years, so I'll have to experiment.
Since we're on PhotoShop and the near end of a thread, I will share with you a project I am currently working on for a local college's seasonal banners.
Of course, with Orientation comes Fall, so that is the first one due.
This will be the background of the banner. I was aiming for that look that fallen leaves make after they have sat on cement, etc., for a while and then blown away.
Autumnal Grunge
Really nice Willi
Boojum, glad to see you back. Love the new door into the dining room. That must make you very happy! Choo Choo is a winner.
Onewish1, I love seeing the hummer with 'Atom'. I never saw one in my garden, despite all my efforts to attrack them. Always next year!
I love this simple climbing rose 'Flutterbye' It just keeps on blooming with a nice range of color. Last year it had some blooms until Nov. It was one of those, "what can I loose" purchases" from a Park's/wayside sale a few years ago for 5.99. I won. Patti
I love this color. Patti
I am thrilled that some of my pineapple lilies (Eucomis autumnalis) have come back in this year. They took a long time to bloom, but the ones I dug last fall and then potted up this spring have yet to produce a flower stalk. Last year they were great. They have great leaves, just no flowers. Maybe they will bloom this fall in the GH. Patti
Will take forever to catch up - great shots! I'll start a new thread. Allison - I can't recall seeing anything other than bees at the GJ, but they're not in sight from my window. I like the color and smell.
Okay - here we are:
