Gosh, everyone! Those are truly inspiring photos, everyone! Victor, your final shot of the hummer moth was NOT blurry at all! It was incredible! If I can figure out what's wrong with my download process, can anyone tell me how to UPLOAD onto Dg so I can join in the fun? Thanks everyone, for the color, the plantings, the wild things, and Mother Earth. Today is the festival of Lughnasa, so I must go for the moment and do Ceremony, but I'll be back, and I hope someone can tell me how to share photos here. Blessed be!
Garden Photos - Part 28
All you have to do is scroll down to your message and hit browse and it will bring up your pic. Hit on your pic and it will put it in and then either preview it first or just hit send and it will resize and put it in for you. BEV
Has anyone had luck growing Jap.Iris in part sun -sun?
They do not do very good in the shade. I need to move mine. BEV
My Japanse Iris grow on the north side of the house. They might be out far enough to get some sun.
You don't want to plant them too close to your maple because the spread fast and they will be taller than your maple looks. Just my thoughts, BEV Once established they are terrible to try and transplant with very thick fiberous root system. Hope I didn't bust your bubble. I thnk they would look nice there.
Cool strawflowers and Rex. Mo - Bev hit it. I would only add that you resize the photo to a manageable size first - something like 800 X 600 pixels. Then, as long as you know what folder it's in, you find it after hitting Browse, click on the pic, and click Open. That's it. Here is another shot of a bloom-crazy Luna Red.
No busted bubble here I have never grown them and need to know stuff like that. Maybe I'll put them in a spot where they can have their way like the Belemcandas.
This is a ground level view of the same area.
The JM is four feet do the Ji's grow that tall?
They would go in the niche between the bluestones on the left
Victor. I guess O&L won't grow in my garden. I want them to so bad. Ordered some from Van B last year and it was almost dead when I planted it so they sent another this year and it died. Are they real picky??? BEV
Nice Hibiscus Victor.
Is Oranges and Lemons a coriopsis?
Bev, all mine from last year died. They need very good drainage so I'm trying them one more time in a well-drained area. This is their last chance.
No, Jo Anne - a Gaillardia, or Blanket Flower.
I need it for my Red Garden, just right with Torchlily and Red Dutch and Shocking lilies.
Now that the lilies have gone by the Hot Mix Crocosmia are making blossom stems.Does the Blanket flower have a long bloom time?
Yes blanket flower here blooms about three months or more. BEV
Yes, they do bloom long - especially if you deadhead.
The JM i have isn't big mature height is about five feet.
I gunna buy Blanket flower for 2009.Thanks guys.
Victor, Lunar Red is amazing!!!!!
Tell me about it! It bloomed a lot last year but this year it's outrageous.
That Oso Peach is a great color Victor and the moth cooperated beautifully.
Love your group of Echinaceas JoAnn. I agree with folks about the J. Iris. Even if they don't outgrow your maple in height, in 5 or 6 years they may just overrun it. Maybe you could plant them, cut the bottom off of a nursery pot and then bury the pot around them. still would need to deadhead them. but, that would work.
Dragonfly, your place is beautiful.
Willie, I know I should know this, but what is "rex"
David_paul, those strawflowers are great colors. They are annuals are they not? Seems to me like I read some things that said they were perennial, but more that said annual.
redchic....I grow them as annuals. Strawflowers might reseed, I don't know. I like them because 1. They are easy 2. They almost dry by themselves. 3. Dried blossoms will last until next summer and beyond.
Joann, in the last picture by the wheelbarrow in the background, is that the area that you call your shade area? If it is It looks like you have a a lot of stuff blooming in there now and growing really well.
Thanks David_paul! I've seen the dried flowers in arrangements and stuff and thought that they looked really interesting, but I'm not good at drying flowers. So it sounds like I may have met the match for me to dry a few!
wow, that is a seriously bright pink dahlia! flamingos must be jealous!
Very pretty, I can almost smell them!
I know, RedChic! Guess I hope to wow the judges at the fair next month!
Wow dragon fly, what a retreat in the shade you've made for yourself! I love just about every single type of plant that you have there! Over by the vine on the left of the picture, what's the taller perennial with "iris-like" foliage?
You shouldn't have any problem at all wowing the judges Robin! At least not if they can see.
