How late do y'all stay up?

The wait is almost over, it may be tonight. The bud has swollen a lot today. I am downloading pictures, it does not really show how large it has getten.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Wren how many inches long is that bloom????? Need to know so that I can measure mine, Clemen

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

It really, really looks like it will be tonite. Not a good picture but you can see the size.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

This bud might not be a good exsample for size. The poor plant was mistreated for a number of years. Besides the stem has curled already. I will go out later and check the size for you.

Ok I found a piece of string and from the bud tip to the leaf it is 12 inches long and 6 inches around the widest part of the bud.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Stand back .... that puppy's about to blast off!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

The waiting is killing me. About three hours to go! I will post the pictures as soon as it opens. Just be warned that it will be after 11pm

(Zone 1)

Oooh, how exciting! From the looks of that picture I think you are right ... tonight's the night! I'm usually up until midnight or one o'clock so I will definitely be watching for that picture! Woo Hoo ... can't wait to hear about the fragrance too! Isn't the Epi Oxypetalum supposed to be real fragrant? I have a couple of small plants of the Oxy but they are small and have not bloomed yet.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I don't remember about the fragrance. I have six of different sizes.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Ok it is 8 pm no change

Yes it has a very nice scent-kind of lemony to me.

(Zone 1)

Beautiful! Can you get a shot from a little distance to show the foliage too? That is really pretty! and oooh, a lemony fragrance sounds nice too! I can't wait for mine to grow up and bloom for me!

Thanks so much for sharing this with us Wren! I've really enjoyed watching the progress of that bloom!

I am soo wanting to catch my E. Hookeri in bloom to see if it is fragrant! I have a really nice Ric Rac that I've had for years and never even knew it was an orchid cactus or that it even bloomed! It was never my favorite plant but then it was ID'd here on DG for me and I found a bud one day and then all of a sudden it was wilty and awful looking. I thought it had bugs of some sort that was killing it ... LOL, come to find out it is a night bloomer too and I missed it as well! I really look forward to seeing that one bloom again some day too. Now that I know it's a night bloomer I will be watching and waiting on that one too!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I think so. I will go out one more time.
My dog is trying to tell me that it is way past his bed time.LOL

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I will get a picture of one of my other ones that is in better shape in the morning.

(Zone 1)

Ok. And, Thanks again for staying up and sharing that pretty bloom! I've been showing the photo sequence to my hubby and he thinks it's pretty cool too.

G'nite for now ... sweet dreams!
