Good morning early risers. I'm off to push mow around the yard. We have a service that comes every two weeks, but now that we got some rain, the grass is too high to wait on them. Better get a start before it gets too hot. Talk to yall later.
Wet and foggy this morning! No rain so will have to drag out the hoses today. I can't complain as that will be like the third time this summer. Have picking to do. A bit of canning. laundry. sour dough starter to use. Have a packed day and here I sit. But I wanted to check in.
Liz I got a schedule change for aug. She is trying different things. Work 3 days and get 7 days off. Now maybe I can get to some of those big projects.
Gotta go. Have 2 things marked off my list. A drop in the bucket.

Morning, will be starting a long weekend in 3 short hours..doing flooring for my niece tonight and then it should be full weekend..tomorrow morning of course I'm going to Kempenfest in Barrie on the Bay..adv. said over 350 vendors...then Sunday (if I've $$$ left) meeting Linda (cousin-SIL) going to Meaford - another great place to spend $$$..then Monday which they are calling for the hotest of the 4 days I might go to one of the Islands by boat that has all you can eat fish..maybe do a few drop ins to relatives that live on the bay..
If time permits, I do have a few projects I want to get done..Cathy was over again yesterday, did all the grass so that offers me 3 more hours to play..

I just came inside from being out for an hour or so watering things in the front. Man, is it hot out there. When my dogs came in they drank and drank and drank from their water bowl. They have water outside too, but probably kind of warm at this time of day. Now they are all lounged out and I am taking a rest in between the watering and kitchen duties. Earlier today I made a big bowl of macaroni salad to take to my brother's for a family cook out tomorrow afternoon. John wants brownies, so I will make some for him and take some to cookout tomorrow also.
Good to see everyone on here this early. I am kind of just the opposite usually of my two favorite threads. I post early morning usually and the most active the thread is usually late evening as everyone is getting ready to go to bed.
Sounds like Betty and Judy have big plans for the weekend. Anyone else doing anything interesting? My niece who lives in New Jersey is coming in for a long weekend, so there is a cookout tomorrow in honor of several of the family's birthdays this month. My niece is going to miss my garden being at its best. The best it looked so far this year was about two weeks ago when most of the Day Lilies and my beautiful Gladiolus were blooming. The Glads are almost gone, two yellow and two whites still out there.
Up until about two weeks ago I was bragging about having enough rain this year and how well everything was looking. Now, I am praying for rain. It is very, very dry here. Yesterday it sprinkled for an hour or so. Not even sure that it settled the dust. We need a long and steady one.

Just got home, bumper to bumper traffice...long weekend...sad to say a few Americans lost their cars today, not sure they knew that if you go more than 50kil. over speed limit they take your vehicle for several days, you receive a hefty ticket...probably on vacation..feel sad for them...
When I listened to my messages there was one from a lawyer lady who spend a night here last year, she wants to spend 2 nights and have 2 rooms, arriving tomorrow aft. sooo as it's so hard to find accommodations, I said yes which means I'll have to rush and only spend 1/2 day at Kempenfest and be back by 1:00 for her arrival time, told her door unlocked, go put her things in the back rooms, same as she had last August but she said she'd sit, enjoy the gardens till I got home...her little girl had left her journal in error last year so she was so pleased to hear I had saved it for her just in case...
Now I'll have a tomato sandwhich, Lenny and Suzanne dropped in to get my saw, brad nailer and compressor so I must get into gladrags and head out do the little off room so that Danielle canput baby things in it..hopefully if all goes well it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours...
Was pleasantly surprised, someone I lent money to, not much, was 2 years ago, mailed me a money order-$400. so just think of the crafts I can buy, that with the B&B bucks, shucks I'll be able to really treat myself, as thought I don't every single weekend..watch me go to Kempenfest AND Meaford and not find a thing...odds are against that for sure...
Greg/Mel and the boys have not returned as yet so still sitting Sophie (Labradoodle) she's the most mannered doggie I've ever been near...I'd keep her in a sec..
Anyway, must run...

I missed a whole month of daily communications on here, so, if it was discussed--I have NO clue! ARE you now the proud owner of a B&B? If yes--How is it going?
Hot---Hot---Hot--here all week..in the mid-upper 90's. I have 2 sprinklers going at this time. One front--one back. Hand-watered all the rest. I HATE when the gardens get no relief from this kind of weather! Everything suffers....
Went to the Good-Will store today and found a pair of black, suade shoes with a small, stacked heel. Good brand--"Talbot's"--paid $3.20 for them. Will be good to wear in the winter months when I need to dress up "just a bit".....
Other than that--not much new. Started back to work this past Tuesday. Also worked Thursday and have to work tomorrow-Saturday. S-L-O-W on the phones.....too hot! No one is shopping a whole lot either. The Gardening season is over----Patio sets are now on Clearance for 40% off. By end of August--fireplaces and snow blowers will be out on the floor. Also all kinds of other cold-weather stuff.
The SMART shopper will buy whatever they need for the winter right as everything gets put out. So many people wait for the first snow storm--in like January-- and then come looking for a snow blower. HA! The fools!
By the end of February--all the seasonal stuff is already coming in--the patio sets, chairs, etc. Snowblowers and heaters are "out of season".

Keep picking about this many tomatoes every day now. They are going bonkers! I only have 6 plants.
Giving most of them away at work and to friends. The B-I-G question remains..............................
WHY DO I EVEN GROW THEM???????? I only eat about 20% of what i grow.
Nothing like a home grown fresh mater, Gita! But I have yet to put a plant in the ground. I keep saying I'm going to next year.
Just got in, floor done, niece thrilled..something was wrong with the picture though, here the guys are outside on the front deck...of course Danielle is 8 months pregnant so she shouldn't be helping, Lenny was cutting to my measurements and here Suzanne and I were upstairs doing to flooring...when we told Jason (niece's other half) that something was wrong with the picture he quickly put us in our places..said now that is a 'sexest remark' why DOES the man have to be the one doing renovations??? guess he had a point...
Then I came home, had told Darlene that because I put my good chesterfield set downstairs in the basement only because it was much too large for upstairs..ie. full size couch, large chair and love seat and that since I put the new front window in that the sectional I have which has absolutely nothing wrong with it that I was thinking of buying another set so the chesterfield wouldn't be covering half the window..well other friends of ours who have a home on the bay just down from where my place was turned their cottage into a 'home' then Sandra decided it was a little too quiet for her on the bay so they bought a house near Niagara Falls...decided that it wasn't for them so back at the cottage home..in the meanwhile apparently they purchased another chesterfield set, plaid -green tones and mint condition, said if it was for me they would take $100.00 - going in their garage sale tomorrow morning, also have a country braded rug they'd throw in and who knows what else she said...so Darlene was sure I'd like it, she paid them $100.00, I'm to go look at it at 7:00 am before the garage sale and if I don't think it's suitable, they'll put it back into the sale...wow...how plans for my weekend are changing from hour to hour...I'm hoping I do like it..would be a change in the living room..don't want something brand new while I have the kitties who claw at times and the dog who enjoys secretly spending the night on the couch (until I catch her)...lol..
Tonight I've vacuuming, dusting, setting out pretty flowers in each room....should clean the craft room but lordy they shouldn't be downstairs in it, but will be a good excuse to clean it up..that's a full time job..10 minutes after I do I choose another project and voila..messy again...
Gita, nope you didn't see me post B&B..last year toward August I took in a few guests that Bernice across the street who had the official B&B sent over as they gave up their B&B..even their sign 'Beyond the Garden Gate' now is displayed on my side yard...because I haven't been feeling the best I didn't persue the B&B, but this lady lawyer and 2 children wanted to spend the weekend in this area..she stayed with me last August long weekend and loved both my home/yard and my hospitality she said...when she called she said they would not need breakfast...lol..do you thing perhaps she's heard about my cooking??? So I told her I'd be pleased to have them visit again..couldn't possibly say no..anyway it will mean $250 for the 2 nights and 2 rooms (without breakfast or meals)..so Gita that's the money I'll be spending on myself..wouldn't take on more unless it was to blow it on someone needy or for something I want..Cathy will come with me tomorrow as a thank - you for cutting my grass...will treat her to breakfast...fair shake...
Yard is pretty and well manicured thanks to Cathy..house only needs the odd touch up, I'm pretty good at keeping everything in it's place..so will only have to stop at bakery tomorrow and pick up a few goodies, vegetable market for fruit, some juice and I'm ready...
Suzanne and Lenny as a thank you just called to invite me for a steak dinner tomorrow night but I'll first have to check arrival time of my guests...
Greg called, said they were going boating tomorrow, going to cousin Doug's for the afternoon and did I want to go? No way I can fit it in.... as you can see I'm always on a high when I've dozens of things to do...makes me glow and flow...
Shortly after, my other SIL (also cousin) called about going to Meaford - 110 miles from here..wants to meet me in Elmvale about 1/2 hr. away on Sunday morning and spend the day shopping, said I would so all and all I won't have time to do finish my 2 faux windows that I started..they are coming along quite well...will take photo tomorrow
As you can see, I won't be sitting with my feet up this weekend...loads to do before I even started taking on more...

Whew! Betty you make me tired just reading about your day. No you don't have any dust bunnies under the bed.. You ARE the engerized bunny with dust under your feet. For me, I wouldn't have to go and look, I KNOW they are under mine.
Besides falling down and mooning the world at the post office today, nothing else spectacular happened down here in south Ga.
I remember driving through Cordele, Georgia on my way to somewhere, but don't remember the town. Wish it had been today because I think today at the post office would have been wayyyyy more memorable!!!

Nothing but my pride. I walked between two cars to step up on the curb. One car's bumper was messed up, rusted and twisted. It caught my loop on an oversized (my son's) pair of cargo shorts I was wearing and down those shorts went. Right down to my knees and I fell over frontwards. Everybody at the post office now knows I wear size 8 cotton whites.

I was going in with both hands and arms holding a long tubed priority shipping box. It was a very short exposure time becuase I was up like a jack rabbit. Now had that happened to me when I was in my 20's, I would have just jumped right into the street manhole. LOL

I am sitting here laughing with tears in my eyes. Sorry but you guys just made my night. I was sleepy but no more. I have to tell you my story. Went camping afew yrs ago at a place where the outside john is across the drive ok? Thank God other campers were far enough away! Went over and left the door open because it faced the woods. Sat down and looked down at the floor inside the door and there was a 6ft black snake rolled up 1ft tall taking a nap. WELL!!!! I did not pull my britches up but jumped from the hole clear to the outside screaming. When I hit the ground running I went over and told my hubby he better get over there and kill it or I was going home. I wasn't going to stay the night awake wondering if he was coming into the camper somehow, and I know they are good snakes if there is such because I don't think so!!! I stayed at the camper and he took a boat oar and a pitchfork over there,and he is afraid of them too if they are as big as a pencil so the battle is on. I hear the most awful banging and hollering and tin rattleing and I wouldn't go to see if who was winning. Scotty hollered at me to come hold the boat oar so I slowly walked over and arround and here he was with the snake held against the john with it. I was shaking so bad but I did it. Well he poked and he poked and finely said that I could let go that it was dead. Of course I would never believe that so we went back to the camper and I had him go get it and put it on the ground by the side of the camper where I could keep an eye on it. Aftr that we walked down and told the other campers what had happened so they could get a good laugh. When we came back the snake had turned over and I went berzerk!!!! I went and found some rope and told Scotty if he didn't hang that thing in the tre over by the john where I could see that it was there I was going home never to return and we had camped there for 15 yrs. Well he did and that sucker hung there for 2 weeks. I never went to that john for the next two yrs. Then one day I said oh! WELL OK. only if he would walk along behind me. There is a large tree that bends away from the john so you have to walk between them. I was just between and Scotty hollered WATCH OUT!!!! I jumped about 2ft in the air and landed on the other side of the tree. I came arround and gave him the dickens for scarring me like that because of the other time. He said look and when I did, I had stepped right over the head of another 6 footer!!!!!!! We moved to this other campground. HUGS AND BLESSINGS AND SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW. Hope I don't dream tonight. Too funny, Bev. There was an old man, maybe in his 80's who boated with us several years ago. He still waterskiied, took his 45' houseboat out everyweekend, and we did a lot of cookouts together. One year a snake took up residence near the gate at the end of the dock, with his head hanging out looking in the water. Old JC would not cross the dock, even on the other side to get to his boat.
We had a 50 foot houseboat and a small dinghy, so Bob took the dinghy, took it to the shore, picked up JC and by water took him to his house boat. It was pretty funny, because he could do anything, but would not walk across a dock that had a snake under it. Black snakes are good though, but never in an outhouse!!
Couldn't sleep. Now I sho-can't! Snakes alive, Bev, it's a wonder you didn't make a back door to that outhouse.ROFL!

Had the antenna man here yesterday and he had to replace the power boost on the antenna. I think it must have been hit by lightning during all those storms we had. So then he put one of those DT converter boxes on the TV too. The ones that they are telling everyone they need by Feb 09. if you have an antenna.I see you get a $40.00 coupon towards it in the U.S. Well..here in Canada they cost $140.00..and no coupon from the government. BUT...the difference in reception is magnificent! It looks just like HD and I receive several more channels I could never get before. It is just amazing! All these new toys..high speed internet..great TV reception..with no ongoing monthly charges...and my son is working on fixing the hot tub..(replacing the spa pak and pump)..should be up and running soon. I am in heaven! The name of the converter box is Channel Master CM 7000.. I see they are only about $70.00 in the U.S...
I call it the "magic box"..LOL
Today all my family are coming for a BBQ party in the garden..sure hope we don't get the thundershowers they are calling for.

well thursday dh had his eye appt, had a peice of rust imbeded in his eye..
had to call in a specialist to drill it out, this was in his good eye now there worried when the tested his eye it was at 27, they said it could be stress, or worst glucoma they want to test again in two weeks, oh pray it isnt!! if it is the state will pull his commercial licence!
he'll be able to do mechanic work on the semi's but this will make him crazy not to drive big trucks..
ahhh and the permit for the roof, not a problem to pull one it is issued same day and done in three phases only 215.00 so that was good! had one question for the roofer and then will go get it... yaaa been waiting for this for the longest time!
ruby, hope the weather cools down for you! you can have ours had one heat wave and now its in the70's to low 80's no summer weather tomatoes are still green corn didnt do very good,now on the otherhand all those pickling cukes are flowering so yipee i just might get to put up bread and butter pickles! cross fingers lol have a wonderful time at the cook out.

saw all the stuff at michaels but i behavied oh while snooping around saw in clearance butterfly houses marked down to 3.00 so last night writing all my entries in my check book i saw it was on sale 2.74! i was so excited i wanted to go back and get them last night i had 15 min to get there wasnt to far from house,
but dh said the'll close the door when they see you comming!
now after work i have to get the other two lol and they have halloween out!! got d.h this mini coffin has hinges on it he will wood burn something on it, he loves things like that and it will keep him busy lol.
omg wont be long i'll be dragging out all the decorations, and will have to make another trip to the glass reclycler to purchase glass blocks again,oh no holliday sprit comming to get me already geez better clean out the house and wait for the next big mess i make lol.

Betty here I thought I was doing good washing dishes and canning 2 qts. of pickles. Have a few tomatoes to do yet. Figured I'd can 'em as I get them instead of waiting. What a busy day or weekend you will have. But I can hear the happiness in your posting! Have a great weekend and share your treasures with us.
Carol we don't have one yet. But if I understand right it is not needed with cable or dish. What a mess that will be for some people. Have a great BBQ today. Will be thinking about while at work.
Did one of my cooking marathons yesterday. Had sourdough starter. Used it all and still had one cup leftover for a new batch. Made a loaf of bread. 2 batches of buns and tried a cinnamom raisin muffin recipe. Which would be really good if I hadn't almost burned it while picking snap peas. So I also cleaned and froze gr. beans,sugar snap peas and reg. peas. Baked a chicken for supper and dug up some fresh potatoes to go with it. OMG I feel like I had a Betty Day! LOL
Better get going I have those few tomatoes to do yet and then relax before going to work.
