She's About to....... #9

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

My goodness ya'll, I pull a Rip van Winkle and sleep and you have the Scary EE's that are taking over the earth and scaring Joyce,,, Aunt B had the tornado without Toto blowing down her brugs and Kim is cooking again even making homemade ice cream. Oh, yes, the tiger showed up. The other threads I get on do not have this much fun :)))

Beck, ya know my thoughts and prayers are with you and Mom. But, I told ya so... I just wish I had not been right!! Plenty of noncaffein fluids, sorry no Tea.. cranberry juice or anything acidic and probably back off on the pain pills. They really do not help bladder pain very well. I would ask if they have her on something for bladder spasms, because the spasms are alot of the pain.

Now hotties, this is just not right here. Rain 10 miles south of me, rain 20 miles north of me and rain 15 miles west. Nary a drop here! I watched these big dark clouds all morning while I was working and now they are gone. Poof! I must not be living right or something..

Louise, your recipe was fantastic. But I forgot to get a picture.. Just got back from the hand doctor, healing good, but two more weeks at least in the cast. That is exactly what I thought, but DH was really thinking a miraculous cure and he would get out of it. So, he's being real quiet and not saying much.

Got to get cooking, then water, water, and more water. Lov ya, Peg

Ice cream sounds devine! Just plain vanilla, with a mashed up banana on it! Yum, yum! When my kids were growing up, on hot days I'd make icecream. It never failed a cloud would come up and it would cool off! Hmmmm, need to go buy a freezer!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Brain freeze here : ) AuntB i'm so glad your babies braved the storm ok! Come on over!! Hi Peg : )

Ice cream ? oh my ... while I freeze ...ha ha ha ...pass the Ham and pea soup, that dirty cabbage sure looks good!
we are getting news here about Earthquake over there ...hope all you hotties are ok and staying cool ...I am holding my hands up to the computer screen hoping for some warmth to come through ...
signs of some Spring growth coming through here, when do get some relief from the heat?
Happy gardening hotties!

I called this a.m. and after breakfast she wanted to go back to bed.. said she was tired... at least that is better than her saying she is in pain!! Gotta ask about that spasm med. Peg!! TY

Yeah.. I thought I would never find the recipe!! BUT.. have everything ready to roll.. had to take a break ..my back told me I HAD to get on Daves!!..hehe Gosh... it does smell really good too!! Louise.. do you go ahead and cook them all then freeze?? LMK.. please.. since I have 3 hrs in the oven to kill... DH will eat late tonight.. but not too much later than normal..

Peg.. at least you have rain nearby... we are soo dry everwhere!! I haven't watered the garden in about a week, and was out there earlier.. couldn't believe how BAD it looks.. gonna water tonight.. maybe I can save some of it! Sooo glad Keith has another couple weeks on the cast.. we don't want his hand not healed !! I know he hates it though!!

Louise.. for breakfast?? LOL I don't know if that would be good with my coffee.. but I am NOT a breakfast eater..

Kim.. yeah.. doesn't the kitchen smell good?? I ain't telling DH you are making ice cream too.. I don't want to give him any ideas...

My dogs LOVE strangers... they think everyone comes to see them.. the rat terrier jumps 5 ' in the air.. so he is just about eye to eye with most people!!>>>LOL

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Don't forget the devilsfood cake ; } Becky lol! That doggie sounds like a lot of fun!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Your pic of the dirty cabbage should be on a recipe book! Yum! I want ice cream. I have a dusty ice cream maker somewhere lol. Have a good recipe? Our hottie sis from Oz brought up a good point. How are our California hotties doing??

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Want my receipe for vanilla icecream?
For a 4 qt freezer:
4 eggs, beaten with
1 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt
Add to 2 cans milk, Pet or Carnation
Mix well, pour in freezer bucket, and add homogenized milk to within 1/12 in of top.
Add 1 Large ladle/spoon full on imitation vanilla. MIX WELL! Freeze till hard, and enjoy!
This wont be too sugary sweet!

If you have a 5 qt. freezer, just add 1 can milk, 1 egg, and fill with milk, Increase sugar to 1 1/2 cups, and add a little more salt.

Glad to hear every one is doing okay, I did manage to read 2 day worth tonight. I’ll pray for rain for those who need it and pray for it to stop for those who are getting drown.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning Hotties!!!
Hope your all doing well, and ready for another day.

AUdrey, on your icecream recipe you said to use can milk, is it evaporated, or sweetened condensed milk?

Also, how big is your sppon for vanilla, A tablespoon?

And one last question, is the milk added to fill the bucket, whole milk, or 2%???

Just wondering if it made a difference?

Thanks for clearing it up.
Linda Kay

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Hi Hotties!
Louise I could not agree wit you more about men being freakd and Beckie even Cute DH can be too! LOL. Beck, where is the dirty cabbage recipe, I went up and down this thread, could not find it. It looks delicious! Clemen

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

oh Becky, I feel about your back! I have the same trouble, too many years throwing freight. I finally got a GREAT bed and can sleep through the night (when my shift change quits messing with me). My darling sweet adorable hubby is a pig too. He starts shedding his clothes when he gets home. I always know where he is by following the trail of clothes from the door! My inlaws live with us right now and well let us just say that he got his messy habits from somewhere! LOL They are truly wonderful folks though. Good thing I don't mind cleaning! Otherwise I would be a crazy woman by now. Well...crazier. lol
Anyone ever ordered seeds from Gourmet seeds? They are fast as lightening! Got my order in less than a week. I ordered imported seeds from Italy, some squashes and climbing pole beans in wax, purple wax and a climbing french bean. This is for next spring. I really recommend them!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Louise, you must have one hot sexy DH, LOL, Clemen

Will check out the seed place, thanks!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Clemen, I don't call him stud puppy for nothin! LOL

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Hotties... may I remind you this IS a public forum ;) .......(hot and sexy, stud puppy! CLEMON! LOUISE!) lol Donna, I think we can send some homecookin' your way... -dry ice! I can just freeze some in a double zip lock, styrofoam box and dry ice- I'll send some next time I make it, mine dissappeared. Never ordered from Gourmet seeds, but I might have to check out their website, thx Louise! Clemen, I thought you were busy doing something.... THAT is some Hottie you found! The Cabbage and Dirty Rice recipe is on #7, I think... it's in paragraph form... do a search in the body of threads on the brugmansia forum for Dirty Rice... them narrow it down to posts by lavender4ever... it's in there... Beck so sorry you're schedule is so messed up... I'm glad your momma wants to rest, and can. That is a good sign. Peg, I think it's great healing time, tell him to consider if he'd gone to ER right after it happened... he'd be out of that cast by now... but I know he won't think of that or next time, either.. I bet is it driving him, itching and getting in his way. Sure wish I could send some cool moisture down your way, 4th day in a row for us... I did find a big broken off limb from Pink Beauty last night, snapped off more than a foot below the bloom tip... but I still feel fortunate, could have been so much worse. The PP brug had a bloom that was all brown and beat from the wind...(I was out there in the dark night before last, didn't see things as closely) She does have a few more buds and another bloom, I tried to take a pic last night but had left my camera card in my frame thingy at work... She's real purty pink, though. Better get busy here...

Brigham City, UT(Zone 5b)

Hello all you hotties,
I don't come on for 2.5 days and there are 91 posts since I last posted. I can't keep up with all of you.

I got a white, yellow, and pink brug from mail order - one of the cheepies, I think they cost 7 dollars for the 3 starts. So, no, I have no name for them.

I have several crosses that I planted from seed that are starting the Y thing. I am very excited. We are going on a vacation starting next Tuesday, up into Canada and around the upper western US. I am very excited. My son will be in charge of the watering. I will pay him for his time, a little before I go and the rest if they are alive when I get home.

I haven't had trouble with aphids since I took the plants out of the house and the garage. I put some rose systemic on them in early spring and have been blessed since.

I know I am crazy, like many of the hotties, and can't keep my brugs out in the winter, I am going to make an area in the garage with shop lights and a heater to keep the temp > freezing, hopefully this will keep them alive. I am hoping for a greenhouse in the fall of 2009.

Linda, The plant in the post8033 look like the leaves on my 4 O'Clocks, mine haven't bloomed yet, but the leaves look very similar, except mine have a glossy look.

Thought I would post a picture of my FIL's cat. It isn't a really clear picture because she is really lovin' on the plaster dog.

Enjoy the day all you hotties. It is getting warm around here. Mid 90's today. Soon I will be at work in the boring air conditioning, with no plants around me. Oh well. I can't have everything.

Linda Kay, Use evaporated milk. Use a HUGE spoon, larger than a tablespoon, the kind you stir with while cooking, and serving! If you use whole milk, it just makes it richer, I use 2% because that's what I buy. You might want to add a little more sugar, this doesn't make it so sugary sweet!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks, I will have to try that. Sounds real good..
Linda Kay

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Marie, that kitty is so pretty.. gotta get your scratchin where ever you can! lol How exciting to have new crosses about to bloom, You'll love the pacific north west, just gorgeous territory... I'm leaving Tuesday as well for my stint in SC and VA.. I'm not paying my DD, she lives with me.. but I DO expect a few picture updates while we are gone. Linda Kay, your plant, has it been id'd yet? I think it looks a little like hibiscus, but not enough to be hibiscus... the leaves remind me of a viney little sunflower... but I don't think there is such a plant. I'm curious, tho. Marie, we have Hotties that are "crazy" that don't have to bring their brugs in for winter, I don't think that is a determining factor, lol... We're glad you're one of us crazy Hottie Sis's tho. :) Your garage plan sounds great, that's how I do all my tropicals, only in the basement. (Okay, Hotties Beck & Peg, EVEN IF I make it back over there to ask about the greenhouse frame...IF I got it 100% free, I still can't afford to put plastic on it for this winter, and I'll need fans and heaters, so they are going in the basement one more year.... Just didn't want to mention greenhouses and winter storage, without letting some hotties know, I haven't forgotten about the unused frame I've had my eye on all summer) lol (I appreciate the reminders, thou, cause I'm not just a crazy hottie, I'm a crazy Bonnie sometimes, too!) Congrats, Marie, on getting one for 2009! Pic is a Dahlia I found in MO this spring..(hope I haven't posted it here before) I'll try to winter it over, too.
