That reminds me that our friends out at the camp area just down the lane from us saw a couger the other day, I have heard all my life that they are here but have never seen one. I want to but as he or she is going away from me!!!!
Have been out sifting rocks out of the front hosta bed with sweat running down my face. Glad when this is done!!
Hope all is well in the nieghborhood this morning. Gotta go back to work DH will be hollering for dinner. Hugs BEV Rain Lily
Best/Worse and What did I learn today? Friends pt.52
We have hunting also. I like turkey if it's from the store, haven't had it any other way. I do like a fresh duck now and then, but I hate the thought of hunting them, so I buy them from the store also, doesn't have the same negetive effect that way. I haven't seen any cyotes in my area. Guess they don't like forest.
Last week looking out the kitchen window. I saw a huge black cat. Actually bigger then a cat running to the brush by the pond. As far as I know no neighbors have a black cat. Besides it was too big to be a regular cat. Any idea what it was?
Morning all. Back to the normal workweek for me(YUK!)
Deer have exploded in my area too. My son lives back in the woods and he can't keep flowers. He likes them around so doesn't want to scare them off, but is getting pretty frustrated. I told him he'll probably have to put up one of those 8 ft high fences if he really wants to keep things from them.
Wild turkey is delicious! A little drier than store bought, but if you cook it right it's so good. I used to use a little bacon grease to baste
Can remember Cat that most wild game recommends the bacon right? The native tribe in our area had a cook book for sale on 'wild game' I'm almost positive I bought one..why? I'm not sure..don't even cook let alone have wild game to cook..lol...must have been to support their cause...
Large black cat?? not sure what that would be...residents when I lived on the farm said their were cougars as well..some nights you could hear them but never did see them...does it frighten you Vicki to be outside working with so much wildlife...know I used to cut grass at the pond (almost a lake) we had on the farm, called it Camp David..had a trailer out there and loved it, anyway, whenever I was there early morning you could see deer and moose come for drinks ..had a lot of blackberry bushes and I was always worried about the bears so I'd have one eye on the lookout...
Because we can't transfer calls or the answering system not working here at work, and I've no dial tone but my answering machine through Bell Canada is working, we're transferring the lines to my house so we can all have dinner together, other than that, we'd have to cancel..what is good is we'll be gone about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. depending on the service..
It's Cindy's birthday and she wants to go to the crepe place BUT Paul her dad (boss) wants to go as well as 3 of us to Mandarin all you can eat Chinese Buffet..so we'll see who wins out...
On the run, talk later..
Betty I usually don't worry about the wild life. Until I see something. That's where Ty comes in at. My early alarm system. But bears are so quiet they get pretty close before even a dog hears them! Have a good lunch!
I guess we have black bears here, but I've never seen nor heard one. The woods around me are so thick nothing can walk without moving brush around.
Hope you had a good lunch Betty, I was going to get Chinese food for lunch, but the only Chinese restaurant I like is on the other side of the Arkansas River and there was a bad wreck on the bridge, traffic was at a standstill, so I ended up sitting in traffic for 30 minutes to go 1 mile, took the exit and ended up at Taco Bell.
Hi all - Just checking in. Used yesterday to regroup and unwind from vacation. Of course for a gardener, that did not mean "sit down and relax". So spent the day watering everything and re-mulching a tree that some birds (probably doves) have decided to create "cooling" holes around to get away from the heat. I usually don't have a problem with them but this time they cleared alwmost all of the dirt and all of the mulch from this one tree. Crazy birds - if they would just sit under a bush, they could keep cool!
Laura - it is so funny you mentioned The Woman Within because I just got some stuff from them and was thoroughly pleased with all of it. I am told that this is actually Lane Bryant.
Well, I'm going to try and see the puppies this week so I'll let you know and post pictures.
Ciao for now....
J
Jeannine, shouldn't puppy be coming home with you by now??? how are you coping with the children out of school, know you've had holidays but are you doing some work from home?? Soon be quilting time..lol...boy this year has flown by..will have to check out 'the women within' site...not aware of any in Canada but then maybe I haven't been looking..
We were celebrating Cindy's birthday so her choice ended up at Corah's Crepe House...food is excellent but more on fruity/eggs/crepes..to me breakfast food, but I enjoyed it...nothing worse Crissy is to get ones hopes up for a particular food and then have to settle for something else...
Vicki, at this time of year a lot of the cottagers either leave food at the roadside for pick-up by garbage men or unload at garbage bin and that sure encourages visits from mama bear and babies..cute to see...
HI everyone.
Wow, Welcome Crissy and Cordeldawg(oh bet I speeled that wrong, sorry)
So nice to see you.
My gosh, I finally got caught up and made a post. then tried to attach a picture and poof.
So for now i will just say hello, my mind is in an uproar so i guess, i best just be quiet,LOL...Will have to try and post later. And this time make a document and do a copy and paste.
Happy Birthday to Liz's DH Kenny, so cool you are a month apart in celebration of you life.
Laura, Thank you so much for sharing yor quilt, all i got to say is WOW!! you should be proud, they are beautiful, as well as your granddaughter Isabelle my good you take beautiful pictures!
Betty, your glasses are just beautiful.
Oh Thank you for the tip on irish spring, going to go buy some right away!!
Here is the deer that is terrorizing my gardens, well one of the herd anyway.
...took this picture the same afternoon, remeber was telling he got spooked and jumped the fences.
Ok be back in a bit, going to calm my nerves and try and post later.
Judy girl what has you in such a tizzy?? lol...and yes, Happy Birthday Kenny...Liz you treat him right... lol..now what is your present to him...omg don't answer that lol..
Oh Judy, look at those deer, you can't possibly be angry with them..picture perfect..
Asking also that everyone include Carole (MURMUR) in your prayers today and in the next few days..Carole's husband Steve passed away early this morning...
I'm so sorry to hear about Steve. I'm praying for Carole and her family.
So sorry Carole. Am praying for you and yours. BEV
I'm Praying for Carole, I am so so sorry.
Well Betty I love crepes, so I think, the only ones I've had are from IHOP.
When I'm in USA IHOP is my favorite restaurant to have breakfast..unless of course I'm in the mood for spending then it's got to be Cracker Barrel..lol
My house is country so they've always fun things..
Spent the last 1 1/2 hrs. in the garden..mosquito's have a good part of me, too bad it's not the 'overweight' part..lol
doesn't take long with the weather we've been having to be over run by weeds...if I keep going it will look pretty sparse ..some of those weeds had great flowers..
Was going to paint glasses but decided I'd bring some to work..tomorrow I believe Paul is leaving about 1 and probably won't be back till Wedn. then he's off Thurs./Fri. so that's my plan...
Think a nice relaxing hot bath, the comfy bed and a good night sleep is on my agenda..keep looking around at my projects in the craft room but it will have to wait to be cleaned tomorrow night..has to be because the girls all paint Wednesday and my bunch Wedn. night...broken glass all over...drill slower/drill slower, less pressure..will have to gab to myself if I want this project to work..
Gita, won't be long and your vacation will be over and you'll have wonderful stories to entertain us with..Shar, we miss you terribly...Ruby, what's happening in your neighborhood today? Dawn and Laura ..saying prayers for your needs...
Everyone else who posted today, from the bottom of my heart thank you for keeping me company...lonesome at work and for some reason today I needed your company..
Hope you've all enjoyed your day...
Good Lord willing, talk tomorrow
hellooooooo
yes betty the top which i think was a 5x u sent fits but i have to leave it open at the front with a t shirt under it.
i love them. i think i am a 6x though.. big but beautiful! lol
the pic of hugh jackman was from an adventure thread i ran years ago, it was a bit of fun and different celebs came along... hahaha
goodness some of you live in the wilderness.. deer are coming to your homes, racoons and such..why, we only see that sort of thing on movies! i cant imagine....
cat is on a mission too to find me some clothes! lol i appreciate you guys helping me out
xxx
I'll be on the look out for 6x too. Is there any particular colors or patterns you like the best? Are you mostly wanting tops, shirts as well as slacks and shorts? Do you like Lane Bryant clothes? I shop there for mine sizes. http://www.lanebryant.com/pagebuilder/
hey thanks for that cord...
i looked there and loved a dress.. tribal print but in one thing they said it went to a 28 and then the other said no only a 24... but its all good...
well i have lots of people keeping an eye out for me.. now remember you all, im not back at work yet so we have to wait for pay packets....
it seems that when i look it up that translated, 6x is the better size for me in tops.. not sure about pants, still looking into it. im also trying to find sweats and a jacket for the winter here.. brrrrrrrr
thanks guys
x
Morning all,
Been catching up on all your posts.
My brother was here visiting.
My neighbours and my brother picked up my new lawn tractor on Sat.
Much excitement..so much os that I didn't get a pic of it with me on it. Tried it out a bit..but since then we have had huge rains...so no grass cutting yet.
Betty your glasses are pretty..I like the way you put some falling leaves in the foot of the glass.
You asked for our opinion on the garden you visited. It was quite amazing..but a little too busy for my taste. But I think it is more of a showcase for the man's art.
Laura ..Isabelle Rose is adorable..
Welcome to Cordeledawg..and Chrissyr..
Betty..love the Oriental lily you showed us. Do you have the name? Is the fragrance heavenly?
I had my first one open a couple of days ago.
I bought four new ones this year..and planted them in pots and put them on the steps of the deck,so I could see them close up and smell their fragrance.
Conca D'or..
Awsome hosta Starzz and the lily very pretty. Thanks Hugs BEV
Good morning y'all. We finally got some of the rain you folks in Canada had been getting. It rained all night. mUch needed. First good rain since May. I think it's safe to wind up the water hose for at least a week. Maybe now my shoulders will quit hurting. So tired of lugging 500' of water hoses across my shoulders. I think that pulling motion is the cause of my leg cramps at night.
I'm collecting hostas for two shaden gardens. That QJ is goreous, Starrs. That's a good idea to put lilies in pots. Colors up the deck steps I bet. I love container gardens. Puts color where usually none is. I may try that. Do you bring your pots in in the winter?
Morning everyone...heavy rains till I got to Barrie, crossed under a bridge and voila no rain..amazing..almost like a dividing line..got to Toronto at 8:25 - of course Canadian Tire is open at 8:30 so thought why not pay the greenhouse a visit..they open the doors, I walk to the very back, doors are closed, young attendent opens the main door, walk 1/4 way back in greenhouse area only to find black rod iron gates loked with chains..by the time I walked back my 1/2 hr. was pretty much gone..so, tear in the eye..no discount shrubs...on the good side, because I drove in myself, I've my car and I'm planning to go to Michaels in search of red glass paint and will still have time to make a quick drop in...I'm on a shrub mission..lol
Carol, you have my dream tractor, had one at the farm and lordy I almost put more miles on it than I did on my car...perhaps next spring if I'm a good girl I'll treat myself to one..unless of course with summer coming to an end I find one discounted in the next few months...
As for the lily I will look for the name tag..think it was one of the 3 tall ones I purchased at the Canada Day celebrations..I went to smell it last night and no frangrance???? Know my other one that I purchased last year has about 20 buds waiting to open..that one you can smell the fragrance all over the garden..the maroon/black one I posted last week, no odor as well..a good 4' high so must be the type
As for the garden I visited, the man does metal birdhouses and odd/ends but all the rusted metal artwork they purchase...guess because you have so much property there would be room for different showcases without being so 'full'..I don't have quite as much as you but I've room to expand my garden..lol..
Not sure what I will do with the lilies in pots..may just plant them in the garden for the winter.
Glad you like the hosta..
I have another one I bought on Sat. at a Wooden boat show of all places. They had tents set up to sell interesting things..and would you believe..there was one with plants.. This one had to come home with me. The tag says it will grow up to 70" wide..Imagine!
Day's End
Glad you are getting rain Deborah, I'd say the 500' of garden hose would play havoc with you knee as well as shoulders...this is the first year since I started my gardens that we've had enough rain off and on so that watering wasn't necessary..thank goodness...
OMG early this am I came on-line and had a d-mail from JenMac75..hadn't met her but she is a Midland girld (5 minutes away) and she married an American and lives in California..she's homesick and her in-law is going to make her a Georgian Bay stained glass piece..as I've 2 or 3 that I've made I'll send her the pattern packets as it's my girlfriend who designed them...will ask her to join us as maybe my rambling about area going-ons will help her be less 'homesick'...
Everyone is busy this morning but just incase it's quiet this aft. I brought in 25 glasses..crossing my fingers that I can spend the aft. doing them..that way I'd be 1/2 done..know I'm bringing in another 20 or 30 for Thurs. - aren't I being good...lol
I like that one too Staezz but of course I like them all. I goota quit!!!!!!!
Good morning everyone. It's going to be another hot one here today, but not quite as bad as the last few days.
Laura what season is it over there now?
morning all,
deborah, 500 feet of hose omg no wonder you need rain you must be exausted!
funny whatever has been chomping on the sunflower hasnt come back yet..
betty, your so bad! lol
took dh to mexican resteraunt he didnt want to go anywhere special gave him a opportunity but he said thats what he wanted..
imagine his dd came to my work shes 21 and picked up some boxes, i asked her did you take your dad out to lunch??? she said to me nooo was i suppose to? i looked at her and she said oh darn because its the 21st?
i threw my hands up in the air and said oh your good! oh well there is your boxes and went back in the back room..
never seen someone so black hearted in my life! makes me so sad to see him give her so much and when the few days that should be a celebration for him, he gets crapped on, oh well i guess he'll figure it out..
now what is the count on the glasses? bet you'll have them all done by the weekend.
oh sending prayers for carole how sad.
bev, pretty flowers!
carol, your hostas are so nice to
vicki, sounds scary whatever it was big and black? :o
judy, that looks like the same one i saw in the yard lol
hi dawn, how are you doing?
oh here i go again running late well hello to anyone i missed
have a wonderful day
im staying out of it!
70" wide..omg .. bet you have the perfect location for it...while working in the gardens last night I took stock of several plants which must be moved due to taller plants hindering their growth..will make some notes as to which...should I do this 'this' fall or 'early spring'??
If I can ever get an extra hour one night that I'm not doing something I really should visit Aunt Muriel..she always has a few plants for me...
All weekend I didn't have a telephone (didn't know it was not in operation) Bell Canada coming tomorrow, now last night there was about 30 people I thought, gee if I had a telephone I'd make some calls...mind plays funny tricks..didn't even miss it before but do now...
Liz, you weren't expecting anything different were you? at least you took him out and know he enjoyed it...Mexican..little spicy for me..not one for spices...
Judy, came across Santa face mold and remembered we put all those faces on the fireplace..did Liz think of taking hers??? also, with all the excitement, did you think of giving Steve his gift..don't want it to get damaged...it's done on ultra suede..think I put it on the side of the fireplace next to where you had the standing 'Santa'...what needs to be done was just a piece of backing (cardboard would do) and a few mini-nials to hold it in..think the screws/wire was attached as well...thought it might look good at the 'summer house'....
hiya, its mid winter over here and brrrr cold. just got a extra blanket on sale from 79.99 to 16!! so i will be warmer at night. the cold doesnt help my injuries... im just a poor old duck! hahahaha
been looking at sites for clothes.. gosh you guys have great stuff and so cheap! nice
well DD still here so have been able to kiss those little soft cheeks all day! soft like peach fuzz and oh that baby smell!
making you clucky?? hahaha she is divine.....
hope my tax comes soon, need to get groceries tho the waistline could do without! lol
well have a good day.... going to bed mysellf soon, just waiting to give the baby a bottle..

xx
Laura, what is the temperature??? Hard to imagine Australia as being that cold...wow, now that was a deal..now your comfy cozy..you'll miss her when she leaves..nothing to make one smile than a newborn in the house...
Did the Doctor say when you might return?
i have this week off and then next week only 4 hours every other day then they will see.
our winter can get to zero and into the minus!! especially near the beach here...
hmmm how interesting..do you sometimes get snow???? I had better win that lottery so I can visit..lol..my choice will be summer weather though...lol
You know I was never one to want to visit foreign countries. When everyone was wanting to go to Hawaii, I'd think "why"??? But for some reason I always thought, if I got the chance to go anywhere, it would be Austrailia. Always thought it was a fascinating place
Hi all - just hanging at work trying to keep busy.
Betty, you asked about the puppies. They are just 4 weeks old so we won't get our girl until at least 8 weeks - probably the weekend of Aug 30/31. We get back from the beach on the 30th so I'm going to try and see if we can arrange to get her on Sunday. We'll see. We have started weening Murphy from the crate during the day. A little bit at a time and so far he's done fine. He's been out of the crate at night for over 6 months and does great. I'm sure once the puupy arrives things may regress a bit.
I'll check back in later.
J
Cat..Australia is somewhere I'd love to visit as well..DIL Melanie, the year before she married Greg spent a year travelling and enjoying..if I remember correctly there was a transit strike and it was difficult to do so..lordy I can remember my telephone bill...many an argument went on over that..lol..
Jeannine, had thought you'd do the pick up earlier only because I remember you saying you'd be there shortly after your vacation, here I thought your last trip WAS the vacation...you have too many..lol
OMG you should see the sky, completely black, going to be a storm for sure, trees are swaying..watch it happen on my lunch..need to do a Michaels stop...
Send some of that storm down this way Betty! We are so dry
Ditto down here too! Doing the rain dance around here!!!
