Need to go to Midland to pick up rubbing alcohol to clean them first...need a few glass see through dishes for project I'm doing... and get back by noon to get at it...
As I was posting the photo's I was drilling holes in plates, don't know why I decided to touch the drill bit but I did, ooops burnt my finger..yuk...
So enjoy the day..will drop in on my next break...
P..S...we have 2 - #52's going on - boy we're good..lol.. so please visit each site if you have time..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ho Corde, you are new to me, so welcome. I hear you on the lack of rain. Thankfully until this week, Virginia has had good rain fall all year and I hadn't really had to do much watering until the last two days.
Betty, busy little as always. You are so special lady. You are so giving and then to expect nothing in return, quite classy. Sorry to hear that you aren't too excited about the Wedding glasses. Have you decided on what to paint yet? Wonder why you are adverse to painting them? I have never before heard you say that you don't want to do something, so am baffled by your resistance. Anyway, tell me to mind my own business, if you want. ha-ha Love you lady.
Have a happy Sunday all others. I may not even step outside today. Thankfully on the days that I am closed up in the house, there is lots of outside light coming in. The great room has a large bay window in the front that takes up most of the wall. What it doesn't cover, there is a glass front door that I keep open all year round, so quite bright in here most of the time.
Most of the back wall in great room is french doors with paneled window panes and a garden window in the kitchen that allows me to look out over much of the back yard.
I take back the thought on not going outside today. I just remembered that I might do a Gladiolus bouquet and know that my seedlings on back deck will need water today. Also on my porch there are a few things that will need a drink of water too.
Anyway, have a good day everyone. See ya later on.
Ruby
Wow! Betty, we cross posted. I don't have time at the moment to read and comment. Will be back shortly to do so. I hope that you are having a good day. Tell me what you decide about the glasses.
Ruby
Ruby..lol..I think it's because I've painted over 2,000 glasses in the past 5 years so it becomes so mundane doing same thing/same thing..especially as every one of the 150 must match...but once I'm started I'll be anxious to get them done...
So off I go to breakfast..had to drill one more hole in a plate..
Hey y'all, I'm Deborah from southwest Georgia, more so in Middle Ga though. I-75 splits GA in half and it goes right through my town of 11,000 folks. Most of Cordele is on the west side of I-75, but I live on the east side in the county/country. We have a 3+ acre lot where we built a house in a newly developed sub-division. We were the second or third house to be built here 27 years ago. All the lots are full now. I had to take early retirement because of health issues in 2001, with at least 20 additional working years left on these tired feet. But 29 years of working for the same company had taken its toll on me. The last work promotion transfered me on a two hour one way trip to work, 6 days a week. All daylight hours were only seen on the job. Makes for a long work day, then multiply that by years and you can understand the stress & phsical illness it caused me.
Found daylight, gardening therapy and Daves in 2006. Been pretty much outside in the yard ever since. Still learning about gardening everyday; planting host and nectar plants for butterflies and hummingbirds. I'm into raising and releasing butterflies. Find alot of enjoyment in increasing their chances of making it to adulthood.
Like Betty said, I do have a small fishing pond. It's more like a drainage ditch for runoff rain water (when that actually happens lol) for the neighborhood from under ground drainage tiles leading to it. Nevertheless, we call it a pond since large mouth bass, bream, and catfish call it home, along with dragonflies, turtles, frogs and geese. Weeds, scrub brush and weed trees surrounded until 2006 when I started my gardening project. Hired a man to do the initial clearning for a clean slate, then, I started begging for ditch lilies for postage here on Daves. That lead to planting full blow garden worthy plants that attract wildlife. I'll follow this with pictures soon. Gotta run for now. Enjoy this Blessed Sunday, y'all.
Deborah
OH, Betty to answer your question about the grass killer...It's a selective killer, only killing certain grasses. You can spray it among flowers and it only kills those targeted grasses like burmuda, bahia, etc. It's used in native wildflower meadows, roadsides and in landscapes. Takes about 10 days before you see it dying though. The kind I got was Southern AG grass killer contains Vantage® Herbicide. Goggle it and read about it. Best thing since sliced bread.

Good morning everyone. It's gonna be another hot one here today. They're saying upper 90's with heat index over 100. Might as well get used to it I guess.
I've been outside watering and puttering since early this morning. Trying to beat the heat. Seems like this area has missed the last 4 or 5 rains and it's getting really dry again.
Hi Deb. There are alot of super people on this thread. And alot of "busy" people! :-) I don't post very often but try to follow along.
Have a super day all and stay cool
I am so far behind in replying. Will not try to either. But i have read all and love the pictures and Betty is as busy as usual. I have just been so tried from working this week. I even slept in this morning. I don't usually do that.
Here is a picture I took the other day.It reminds me of a painting someone could of done. Blue sky with two differnet layers of clouds. Reminds me of Slashes of paint! Hope it turns out. Camera is not the best for some types of pictures.
Welcome to all the newcomers. You will love it here. I am not the best with names. So please forgive me.
Hi Deb and welcome to the home of the most beautiful people in the world. Just don't get the bighead guys and gals!! LOL. But it is true. I come here every once in a while like 20 times a day for my sanity!!!! Dave's is my mostest favorite place to be. Hi all and hope you all have a good Sun. HUGS BEV I always give hugs because everyone needs one.
That's hot Cat..must be so difficult to keep the gardens watered...not just missing out on their beauty in the heat but the expense as well...
That's a gorgeous photo Vicki..funny, before I started to paint never much paid attention to colors of the sky...then we painted a few scenes and I thought, my goodness who would ever see such a sky, but you do...
Bev you are very kind indeed..you know when our gardens have passed we should all make an attempt to paint our most favorite flower from a photo we've posted and 'swap' lol...
Was at Ann's..imagine, I brought her around to that garden on our way home last night, they followed me by car, she/DH and 2 daughters all thought the yard was much toooo busy...so here I thought, what a garden, I'd love mine just like it and no one likes it...your thoughts please???
Painting, now what can I tell you..it has to be quick, has to be easy and has to have the colors from the bridal party..wedding is in September I think, trying not to go look a 'weeding' invitation so I'm not panicked..lol...so thought why not a tree branch on each with fall leaves...add a few around the stem and a few laying on the base????? at least that's something..so off I go...
Forgot, trying to do 5 things at once, trying to drill holes in the glass I just picked up in Midland..already broke 3 out of 7 so NOT GOOD!!!
Bev they are beautiful colors...hey, didn't go check my lilys this morning..maybe a new one has bloomed...off I go and check..hey, if it means getting out of my projects I'm all for it...
Bad enough I've got my craft room looking like a disaster area, now I'm also upstairs...upstairs/downstairs and now I'm going outside to take a photo..lol
Kind off..not focusing very well..mind wants to do more things then I've hands for..but that's always me..lol...
Beautiful rose...
Just came back in, yep another lily in bloom...shouldn't have gone out there, saw the cement bench I poured and 3/4 finished covered in plastic waiting to be done..oopss..put that on the to do list...
None of us have Betty's energy. Reading what she is doing sometimes exhausts me. ha-ha
Beautiful sky picture Ves. Deborah in GA, you are telling my story. We have lots of similarities. I might add that I have been coming to this thread since last winter, at the invitation of Dawn, and love it. Sometimes it gets going a bit too fast and I can't keep up, so I skip over some and pick up somewhere else.
Hello to Cat, good to see you post. Hi Dragon, beautiful pics as always.
John is heating the grill for steaks, so I am getting ready to finish up any chores for the day. Time to lounge for the rest of the day.
See you all tomorrow, early.
Ruby
Ah...wish you lived closer Ruby, John's cooking sure sounds yummy!...took a porkchop out so guess I'll put it on the stove..no sense starting the grill for 1 porkchop..always say that..think in 2 years this new B.B.Q. has been used maybe 2 or 3 times...not expensive on propane..
Imagine, had the air on for days, today it's warm out but I can't warm up so have the fireplace going..ever hear of anything so crazy...
Well, think with the glasses is they no longer make my regular glass paint Step1-Step 2 so had to improvice..no fond of this paint, but beggars can't be chosers...right..
2nd thing is you have to paint something quickly when doing that many, kind of brush here, brush there, 1-2-3..so decided is was fall, she asked for fall colors, so I did a simple tree branch..nothing spectacular but once they are on the table with all the flower decorations and colored finery, they'll be fine... don't want to make a life project of this..lol..
Finished my first 24..on my way to take out another 28, so by 10 I should have 1/3 done...then each night I'll work on a doz. and if lucky by the weekend they will be DONE AND GONE...
Remember now, their clothing is all in fall colors..
Hi Ruby. Hope all is well with you!
Betty my thermometer says 102 right now. Yes it's hard to keep things watered. I went out this morning early and drenched everything but will have to again this evening for a few pots. Tomorrow is supposed to be just as hot and I won't be here to check on them. I have way too many pots! Planted in the ground, it takes much less water!
Love the glasses!!!
I'm coming up there Betty, I'll help you with your glasses too! It's burning up down here, 37 degrees Celsius! We have a 10% chance of rain, very isolated thunderstorms, and it looks like it's brewing right over my area! I'm doing a rain dance, been about this temperature since mid June and hasn't rained since July 5th, my lawn and veggies are dying.
The glasses are beautiful, by the way!
Hello everyone.
Betty, awesome glasses. The bride will be estatic. Such meticulous work only Betty can accomplish!
I love metal art and especially sculpture in the yard. Wish we could afford one of David Smith's work. Thanks for posting the pics, such an inspiring garden.
Judy, I've dmailed you back, and don't you worry. Important company comes first;)
Liz, I'm doing 'bluey'! Made a big batch of refrigerated blueberry preserves, enough to last me a lifetime! Willing to share if any of you live next door ;)
As for swaps, the next one will be months from now.
Just finished the kitchen swap after 2 tries! Lord has given me a lot of patience, without which, I think I'd end up buying my buddy a gift!!
Bev, Powder OWNS you both now. Cats have slaves remember?
Oh by the way, Laura, if you need any help from over here in anything, I'm raising both hands. Isabelle Rose is so beautiful for sure!
Hiya Deb! Welcome to a great group of ladies and gents!
Hi Crissy and Ruby!
I've been busy with my brugs. Too many and still adding....mercifully Jap Beetles stay away from them. Must be the leaves scent. On a wet day, some of the leaves smell like cat doo doo! So you all can say that I'm replacing my rose obsession with brugmansias. Betty, can you grow one indoors? There are some brugs for pot culture.
Here's a bloom of Serendipity. Love the rose coloring.
To others that I failed to say hi... "Hello and I love you"!
Hi Jaye. This will be my fist year for brugs and I have some buds/pods(whatever hey are called!)!!! Can't wait until they open!
You'd be like the proverbial expectant mother Cat!! You'll be making a trail from the house to the brug!! Lol!! I was that way with my first brug. Talk about obsessive....
Got a couple NOIDS blooming too, some beautiful pink ones.
Do you plant yours or leave them in pots?
I have Cassie's Curls that remains in a pot. That's a compact one. I think I might have to dig out Lemon Twist and put it in a pot. LT is another slow grower.
The rest are all inground... Kel just asked me if I'm getting anymore. Yep..bidding 2 on eBay and getting more from Moodene's co-op, even though I already have NOL! Kel calls himself brugdaddy!!
LOL. I think this is one very addictive plant!
CONGRATULATIONS LAURA, SHE IS A BEAUTY, TOO BAD SHE IS GOING TO HAVE A FUNNY ACCENT WHEN SHE GROWS UP.
NO Betty, it is not good that Nick got his girl friend pregnant, but God had other plans for my son's doing his own thing. Hope it brings back my loving boy, when he is a father.
Too much to comment on, my gosh.. Loved the quilts too Laura.
Liz glad you can breath again. Did you see the Canna Picture I posted on the other #52 thread yesterday to thank you?
Hello Everyone! Glad to be here!
I love brugs but have no clue how to grow them.
Had to come downstairs to get more paint..yuk, can't reply right now...on a mission...love the brugs but don't think they grow in this region..although I think Carol (STARZZ) might have tried and has had success..we'll have to check that out..
Dawn, Lord works in mysterious ways, once I told HIM my plan and HE just laughed...now I follow his as best I can...am sure once DS is a father and sees just how much responsibility it is taking care of another,he'll come around...
Now what are NOIDS..so many different plants to ours..very interesting...
