Crissy love your pic of the Red Admiral on the other 52 thread! I rarely see them around here but I keep rotting fruit in a concrete birdbath just incase they and the Viceroys happen by.
Ya;; talking about Brugs reminds me that I have three that need to either go in the ground or a bigger pot. I'm thinking in the ground. Hmmm wonder if I could dig three holes before it gets dark? Talk later yall.
Best/Worse and What did I learn today? Friends pt.52
Betty NOID's are un-named brugs. No - ID.
I just went outside again Deb to see about potting up another couple. But didn't stay very long! LOL. It's still 96 out there!
Larry just called me in to tell me the ac is on the blink! It's 86 in the house. Got a guy coming right over, in fact, he's here now. Hope he can get it going before he leaves. I hate waiting on parts to come in. Crossing my fingers he has everything he needs to fix it.
Started to pot the Brugs, got the containers and all the soil and admendents, then I notice one of my dogs had taken a pot from a marked diagram where I was going to plant a group of trees. So off to catch the mutt with the pot and remeasure the distance again. I'll just go ahead and cut into the ground just enough since the pots just aren't going to stay put. Now with two labs, why did I think differently? LOL
Cat I just didn't realize it got that hot where you are! You have extreme cold in winter and extreme hottness in summer, right?
Seems like it anymore. Our winters don't get down into the single digits as much as they used to. Maybe one or 2 times a winter anymore. Summer highs are normally in the upper 80's or 90s but so humid. I think they counted 24 days above 90 in KC last year. I'm about 75 miles south of there so I'd guess 30 or so here. Today was a scorcher and tomorrow is supposed to be too. And we need rain.
hello all

Love the photo's..
Thanks for keeping me company today!!!
Night everyone...
LOL I'm from California until a little over a year ago, I don't have an accent LOL LOL LOL hahahahahaha, well, other than when I say words like "back" and a few other words that I can't seem to think of right now. I'm starting to say "ya'll" too! I'm going back to CA for a few days to visit some friends in a little over a month, they're gonna laugh at me! LOL LOL
I'm glad that the lactose intolerance isn't anything too serious. That's so scary when things like that happen.
Have a good night, ya'll!
Y'all haven't heard an accent until you hear me. I can chew up and spit out the English langauge something terrible. My DH, the English major, just cringes sometimes when I get to really going. Forget all my edgiecation when I'm tired, excited, happy,... geezh pert ner all the time. LOL
So glad to hear the little one is some better. Babies with a tummy ache just breaks your heart when you can't get them satisfied or comfortable. My 32 year old son has developed lactose intolerance the older he gets. He has what we call a weak stomach. Fit as a fiddle otherwise.
Good nite all. And thank you all for the warm welcome.
Crissy I don't get why back is southern? Where in CA are you from?
I got teased when I came from Ohio to here. I never heard my accent, to me I sounded the same. When I hear my aunts and cousins talk, I get it now. Sometimes it slips out when I say certain words in a fast conversation or when I have been around the Buckeyes.
I tried to get some clothes for you too Laura. My friend says hers were 3x though, so it did not work out. If I see cute 6x stuff I will try to get it for you. Our JC Penney outlet's often have 6x in mens stuff, because they have a whole big and tall section, but I don't know about the women's stuff. I can't believe what they charge in OZ for plus sized fashions.
Does Milacon drops help?
Betty that is some task you took on for the wedding glasses but that is so special. I want to see them.
evening all,
crissyr, welcome, what part of california???
laura, lol dont think californian's have accents???? glad baby is doing good.

cat, wow you to have humid weather yuck!
jaye, love bluberries, but had it been huckleberrys omg would of begged and pleaded for some lol sounds good a month or so on trading, unless someone just throws something like bird houses again or windchime then for sure i'll get back on asap lol, oh wow beautiful color flower.
hey, deborah, glad to see you over here, nice gals and gents to over here!!! ummm if you have to many frogs I"ll take them have the perfect pond for them lol. take pics of geese i just love them!
betty, wow they look great!! all your blooms are just magnificent, so full of color hard to believe you were just showing us the snow banks, awww cute picture of the kitty smelling the flowers!
bev, wow the purple flower looks like a painting, your a outstanding photographer!
vicki, nice photo hows work been, funny story yesterday i covered one of the girls he he he im sooooo bad!! but a real nice lady came in i've seen her before she said how nice it was to come in the store and have me wait on her, didnt get what all the fuss was about?
well she proceeded to tell me how awful it is to have the other one wait on her(so i figured out it was the x theif) nope she ment the boss lol she said i have to complain to someone its horrible how she acts and i cant believe she is still here...
boy have i and the girls have been waiting for this! so i gave her a flyer and said there is the corporate office number on the back.
carol, what are you up to?
hi shar, how are you doing
ruby, waving to you hope your having fun in the garden

This message was edited Jul 20, 2008 8:39 PM
Hey there Liz. Yea, my guess would be field mice. I've seen that sign on my sunflowers. If not mice or rats, doesn't it make you quiver to think there's a bug out there with big teeth. Ouch! Surely it's mice but you'd think they would have really went after those seeds. Maybe something scared them off before they finished.
Morning, you've all been gabby..lol..while I've been playing 'sleeping beauty' well perhaps not the 'beauty part' but that's ok..
Know I have messages on my recorder since Friday..some of my telephones have gone bizzerk from the storms, hope I can retrieve messages as probably one says 'drive yourself in' Monday morning..but here I sit cool as a cucumber waiting for Suzanne's call..
Today we close the office for 2hrs and go for a luncheon..Cindy's birthday was on Saturday so when it's someones birthday we all go out..nice change..
Have to go to Walmart on way home, ran out of the red glass paint..oh/oh..will improvise if I can't find it..
Set out 12 glasses for tonight..if I can piece meal it, it will go by quickly..not that pleased with the results but 'oh well' matches her colors...
Another weekend has passed and I'm looking forward to going to work for a 'rest'!!
Liz , something was awefully hungry..love sunflowers but they don't like me..started 4 pkgs. of seeds - no go..even the little seedlings didn't survive the garden..
Funny how we all think we have no accent...love southern states..I strike up conversations just to hear them talk..Susan "101" has the most adorable accent...
Both Liz and Judy I found didn't have strong accents which surprised me...
Liz did you research the butane curling iron yet?? bet you had them all the time..
Lactose Intolerant, would doubt after months of testing that they will come out with something like that..Yesterday the only thing I ate was tomato and cucumber sandwhiches, then pork chop with baked potato and peas and onions (no one to kiss) and this morning I'm back to being as large as a house...I haven't been this bad in weeks so now to try and figure out what may have triggered it...only milk was in 2 coffee's unless of course you can count milk in bread - they do put milk in bread right (that's how much cooking I do) lol
Well, better get my gear together..would bring glasses with me but Paul's schedule is in overload Mon.Tue.Wedn. as it Wayne and Suzanne's but Thrus. Paul won't be in and Suzanne has outside appts. so I can bring maybe 30 or so with me...
Oh, I think I forgot to tell you, Paul called me Fri. morning to take down a number..he had walked a building in Barrie (even closer than Innisfil) and loved it..not sure if it's for sale or a rental, anyway he was quite impressed..on Sat. at Bob's party we were talking about it's features and easy access..someone asked about Toronto office and he said he'd rent a satelite office so when they needed to be there he'd have an office..we'll this would be ok. for me..it would only be about 35 minutes from home versus the 1 1/2 hrs. to Toronto..keep your fingers crossed, who know, I just might not have to travel that 400 series this winter..wouldn't that be cool...
Must run,
Talk when I get to the office then I can properly respond to everyone...
morning all,
deb, hope its mice/rats lol if anything else i'll be a running in the opposite direction lol
betty, went to walgreens no luck yet, but wont be going to inlaws for a couple of weeks when we get up there then i can go research super walmart, but i'll let you know what i find, well today is dh bday, i can hardly wait to see what his 21 year old is going to do for him sigh.....
wow wouldnt that be wonderful a short drive in! we have this website for the employees we get points for selling merchandise every month, so i think its more trouble than its worth!
so i looked on there saw a enclosed screen tent think the dementions were 10x10 and thirteen high which is fine for the two of us, and couldnt resist a twin air mattress i have a full one but what the heck whats one more!! and i still have points left lol will save for a few more months and see what they have lol more junk to add to the pile...
ok judy, how was the cottage, and the boat trip im sure you had lots of fun this weekend now back on the home frount, what are you going to work on??
well better get back in the swing of things off to get ready for work
have a great dall all.
Morning all!! Liz I forget everyones name even my own sometimes. Thank you for saying that about my pics. That is a batchlor button. I will send a closer pic. Betty I don't know how you keep up!! Talking about accents. Several years ago I was in Springfield Illinois just 35 mile north of us and someone ask me Where in the south did I live because of it and I was born in Girard just 4 mile up the road. TEE HEE!! Ruby, I am going to be planting more hosta this week if I can get this front bed ready. Cross fingers that I get something done. Well better get busy. Hugs BEV
hello all
welcome to the newbies.... happy to have you on board!
thankyou to those of you looking for the clothes for me... your just gorgous... we pay so much here for them...
betty sent me some nice ones for summer...
I am also looking for winter clothes... jumper, jacket or coat and i dont mind second hand if they are in good condition or end of lines and such. and i am more than happy of course to pay postage, it would still be less than here.
feeling good today *touch wood* and the baby is doing well on the new formula and seems to be settling. the DD seems to be settling too!
so i am still quilting and it will be the friendship quilt next......
well off i go...
have a good day
y'all
lol
xx
wow bev that is my favorite flower and i didnt even guess they dont look like that here!!
Lol It's the way I say the word "back" basically any word that has the "a" sound, as in "back" or "I" as in "right"
I'm from Modesto, it's in the Central Valley. Modesto is right smack in the middle of the state. I've heard that the smoke from the fires got really bad, does anyone know if it's better yet?
Does everything has to be shipped into Australia? I know when I moved here to Arkansas I was shocked at the price of milk. The Central Valley in California has tons and tons of dairies so it's real cheap there. There are no dairies in Arkansas so it all has to be shipped from either Wisconsin or California, makes the prices high. My husband's eldest brother lives in Alaska, I guess everything's high there.
crissyr what do you pay for a gallon of milk if I may ask? My in laws farm.
Good morning everybody. The_ Wonder are your ears burning? I was looking at your diary to see if you had any pictures of your gardens and I found a picture of JACKSON! Any relation? OH my stars if I was in my 20's again! Nice vacation to the reefs. You go there often?
Crissy, we have dairy farms here in GA but milk is still $4+ a gal. Grocery shopping is such sticker shock nowadays.
A gallon of milk is about $4.00 to $4.50, depending upon the brand. When I left CA April 2007 a gallon of Foster Farms brand milk was $2.50, it was $4.00 here.
Amen to being in our 20's again. Being young and dumb wasn't so bad LOL
Amen to that Crissy...not only did the phones at home get zapped...ooops forgot to tell you, while waiting for Suzanne's call this morning, picked up the phone to listen to messages, yikes, no telephone..dead as a doornail..so went to the car to get my cel..nada/ dead as a doornail so off I go with wallet in hand to corner pay phone..couldn't believe it 50 cents for local call..called her #, no answer so left a message that I'd drop in, if she was there fine, if not I'd drive myself to the city...called Bell Canada, of course, they can't come till Wedn. but that's ok..painting girls will be there till 1:00 and then I'll find a neighbor who will let them in...never use the tel. much, that's obvious..haven't used it since Sat. a.m. sooo get to the city here and our phone system was hit , incoming calls ok but no transfer system..
Can't quite recall what milk is here..I just pick up what I need, never look at the price..will have do do so now...just on my "Jane" site..it's for women who use tools anyway they had great info on it...did you know that by the year 2010 60% of all wealth will be in the hands of women and 83% of all financial/purchasing decisions will be made by women..wow..we've come up in the world...lol
Laura, did the Canadian size 3X fit ok..I can go to the outlet for you...
We're at 3.29 here. Over the years I have watched the decline of our dairy industry. It is such a shame that we are losing such a special but hard way of life here. Use to see cows everywhere. My in laws are trying to sell there farm. They are waiting for news on an offer.
Lets hope it goes through Vicki..same here, up north where I live there was nothing but farming all around, hardly a commercial farm anymore..think one day we'll be in mega trouble..think the day is not far from now..
That's what I think also Betty! For us it seems double sad as we are suppose to be the dairy state!
OMG..wonder where we'll be importing from..even gardening veggies is starting to be a thing of the past...going home from Toronto to Barrie there was at one time farmers fields for miles, now it's subdivisions, thousands of homes, now where will the food come from? guess it will all be synthetically made....yuk..not good for the health..
OK for Judy and all others who have deer problems, just read a posting on another group and they were saying if you put shavings from Irish Spring soap into the garden near your plants NO DEER eating!!! worth a try!
Hey that's a cheap enough deterrent!. Love that fragrance too.
I tried it last night and no new nibbling! But time will tell!
That's interesting... HUH. You know, we have a family of deer that my house is on their running trail. I have Concord Grapes, Musketdines, tomatoes, cucumbers, flowering plants, etc and they don't touch any of it. They also don't move out of the driveway when we pull in it, they just stand there and stare at us, so we stare back LOL
We have lived here 33 years and this is the second year the deer are trying us out! Before it would be a little nibble and that was it. Guess they haven't heard the rules. Nibble and walk away! LOL
Beautiful sight isn't it...miss the farm, my goats, pond...oh well, another life right! Vicki was it you who told me about it as well? Maybe you could just have a bath, lather up and sit out in the yard...lol
Vicki do you think it's the weather and that there isn't much to eat in the forest or that all this building going on has taken their homes...sad isn't it..know that happen with our rattlesnakes up near the community center..big rock formation..was blasted, they were so used to sunning themselves every day, who could blame them - no one interrupted this effort, nope ..but as they blasted for subdivision, all had to find new homes..got quite dangerous for a time..and make matters worse, they are on the endangered species list so no can kill...as though I'd be close enough kill..I'd be long gone...
I think there is plenty in the forest. But the forests are getting smaller. In some areas they are overpopulated and that is why they eat in our yards. Plus what a smorgasboard we are offering! I don't mind if they eat as long as they share with me.
lol...do you have a hunting season in your area for deer? Our hunters once travelled hundreds of miles to hunt and now they have a season in our area...hate to think of those bambi's being hunted but the professionals say it is good overall for the deer population...we also now have a season for 'wild turkeys'..just yesterday going into Midland was an entire flock..loovvee turkey but not sure I'd want to eat 'wild turkey'??
The deer population has exploded in the USA becuase their natural preditors are on the decline.
Yes we have a hunting season. If the BIL farm sell DH will be hunting at home. He put in a deer plot a few weeks ago. So the plans are started.
I have heard turkey is very good. Boss and her DH hunt turkey and are pleased with it.
Corde which reminds me on the way home from work the other night I saw a wolf or coyote! I could see the shape but not the coloring. Too big and tall to be a fox.
Never even though about that prospect..preditors in lessor numbers..that would indeed make a difference..they recently took the bounty off of wolves..cousin Dougie made a good income selling pelts to Hudson Bay traders...if I remember correctly didn't they have to send the right ear to get money from the government??
